It seems this place has been there forever... Very nice place if you're looking for a quick cold/hot sandwich and/or hot plate lunch. Always packed with fast and friendly service!

Let me tell you something guys eat out a lot and when you're in New Orleans, you're looking for lunch you want something absolutely delicious. It's not gonna cost you a fortune. There is no other place that can touch the red barn. Incredible pole, roast beef meatloaf everything they make absolutely fresh and delicious, including the crispy Leidenheimer bread, obviously it's my favorite place to eat in the city. It's way past the UEP Long bridge on Jeff Highway but it's definitely worth the trip. Oh by the way cash only enjoy enjoy.

Large ham and cheese poboy

There is no better bang for your buck than Red Wagon. It unfortunately closes early for late dinner people, but it is worth going out of your way to get food from here! I order large and I can make it into two additional meals. Vintage feel inside.

Delicious shrimp . Great batter and flavor.

How long has this place been here. My God! It is heaven! We ventured out here for lunch on day. We walked into the restaurant which is part grocery store with bulk items like sams club sized mayonnaise which is also heavenly. Their menu consists of breakfast food and new orleans seafood. I opted for the shrimp plate that comes with a salad and a side. We also got a large order of cheese fries. The hubby got the large fried Fish poboy. There is small and large. This is the part where you may want to READ the actual size of this baby. While the hubby went to pay, I sat down at a table for us. I happened to sit near an adorable little old lady and she giggled as she saw the expression on my face when the hubby's poboy - which was the size of a submarine - was being delivered to my table. The little old lady said, first time here? I laughed with her and told her I was gonna get a pic of his face when he turns to see the size of the thing. And I did. And we both laughed again. The hubby was pleased with his food, he had left overs. The fries was also an enormous portion and had left overs. I enjoyed the flavors of the fried shrimp. Very good. The salad was not a salad though, it's just lettuce on the plate. This place is in a great area with lots of food options nearby. I really loved this establishment and the funny memory that was made. We will for sure be back. And yes, we are gonna order the large again!

Hot sausage poboy

I ordered a hot sausage poboy from Red Wagon with my customary request ( fry the patty hard). I expected a Paton hot sausage patty. However I was greatly surprised when I took a bite and realized that the patties were made in house. The poboy was truly the best hot sausage that I ever had. I will be spread the word. Thank you Red Wagon.

Shrimp Poboy

Unequivocally one of the best bang for your buck poboys you can get basically anywhere. The shrimp poboy was pretty standard but with the portions and price, without a doubt money WELL spent. Tons of food for half the price of most overpriced poboys today, cannot recommend enough. The staff are super nice and conversational, and overall the place has that small town grocery-restaurant sort of appeal that you dont really see much anymore. Also its cash only.

Now, I normally don't do online reviews ever. But the overall experience was so wonderful that I decided to finally give in and leave a review. The small, yet comfortable vibe of the overall restaurant made it very enjoyable to sit down and eat. I felt welcomed in a sort of way, and I was very glad that we were taken in on account of the fact I honestly wasn't wearing that fancy of clothes because I did not know this was a fancy restaurant. I digress, the food itself was impeccable. I personally ordered the prime rib with a loaded baked potato and it was simply superb. The steak was cooked perfectly, the potato had a fantastic mix of toppings, and the two paired together were delightful. I don't get full often, I normally just become not hungry, but this restaurant changed that for me. I ate, and enjoyed, so much food that I couldn't accept another bite, or so I thought. After we had finished our plates, our lovely server, Alicia, asked if we would a desert. I of course asked our lovely server, Alicia, what these deserts could possibly be. In response, our lovely server, Alicia, described each desert in detail. Alicia didn't just read a list, she knew these dishes by heart. It felt like my server was the chef themself and they knew everything there is to know about the boulevard menu. Her exquisite expertise helped me pick the brownie with ice cream. This was probably the best decision I could have ever made. The warm, fudgy brownie paired with the cold, sweet ice cream almost made me cry because it WAS that good. At the end of the meal, Alicia let us enjoy two cups of coffee while taking our plates away. Boulevard truly was the best culinary experience I have had in a while. 10/10 absolutely recommend to anyone on the street. I am VERY much looking forward to coming back soon.

There's a decent sized parking lot here and the interior and outside grounds are very well kept. We chose to sit outside, plenty of seating with shade for most. Starting off with shrimp toast and heirloom tomatoes was a good start to our lunch experience. I ordered the chicken sandwich and my wife got the fresh pasta. We were blown away by both dishes. Juicy chicken with peppers on ciabatta bread and fries to write home about. The pasta was in pesto that seemed freshly made and the grilled chicken thighs we added was fantastic. Thoroughly impressed with the food here but only second to our waiter as far as the total experience. It was a bearded young gentleman, I didn't catch his name but he took care of us and was very attentive. Completely impressed with this establishment and I'd recommend any and all to check this place out.

She was very attentive, without being overly annoying(if that makes sense). Now let's get into the food. Hamburger was well seasoned as well as the fries. I ordered the who dat burger. Which is a dressed burger with onion ring, bacon and bbq added. To say I had a lot going on, on that burger my bun wasn't soggy at all. That bun held up perfectly. The patty was real beef meat. Not burnt, not tough, just a juicy seasoned piece of beef. Aslso didn't have to anything to the fries. The came with just the right amount of salt. It's hard to really find a good burger place without breaking the bank. This place was very good. From the staff to the food. Everything was wonderful. Will definitely be back to try other menu items.

It is a large space with a long bar as you walk in. When I went, the host/tess was located all the way inside the restaurant, so you walk the length of the restaurant to be greeted and seated by the host. I made my way down to her and she seated me right away. I asked for a water and an Irish coffee. She was not sure they had the glassware for an Irish coffee, but she checked with the bartender. And he was able to conjure up something as I was the first person to ask for one. I was a little surprised by that since they offer Irish breakfasts, but either way, I was very appreciative of his going above and beyond for me to make it work. He even asked which whiskey I wanted and had to search for some brown sugar for me. Very accommodating. The Irish breakfast came out and it was so good. The chef came out to speak with me too, I let him know I loved everything but the beans. He mentioned he was trying it out, as it is authentic, but knows it could be tweaked. I did love the marmalade, homemade marmalade on the dish, so good! I enjoyed the sausage - bangers and pudding - as well. So authentic and good! I felt like I was back in Ireland. Just needed some sheep to bahhh by. I do wish the hostess/waitress would have checked in on me more, my water was never refilled and I needed napkins as I had sticky fingers from that amazing marmalade jam. I plan to come back and bring some friends or out of friends, as I miss my Peppermill and this restaurant, I find, is a pretty good replacement - with Irish coffees and all. And proceeds go towards charity. How great is that! I hope they made the Irish coffee a permanent option on the menu before I come back!

The main reason I will not recommend this location is their false advertising of prices. Their onlinemenu and their HANDWRITTEN menu have different prices than what they charge. In my case I ordered 2 kids waffle wt berries (it does not say add berries for additional costs) for $6 however it was rung up at $9 and my blue line breakfast on their online site and board shows as $11 but they rung it up at $12, mind you I did not have any of their protein as I couldn't have it. Even their kids only price is $7. Here's the thing, I don't mind prices being raised bc we all know our economy is poop. However, don't have one price and charge me another cause I feel lied to, and when asked I was just told oh yeah the prices have changed. Well why not disclose that AT THE COUNTER. To add insult their "fresh OJ" is $7 for a small cup. (Half of a plastic cup) and it taste like they used the full orange without peeling in a juice processor - godly awful and sinful haha. It's a big no for me to go back. My first experience did not leave me wanting to go back. If you go I hope your experience is different.

My grits didn't come out with my food, so I had to wait a few minutes for them and boy was I excited. I love grits with my breakfast. So you can imagine my disappointment when I tasted the grits and all I could taste was milk and s. I love stone ground grits, so I was expecting them to so satisfying. They weren't. UGH, they had way to much dairy and tasted sweet. I'm not sure if they put sugar in them or not, but sweet grits are a No No. yikes! I couldn't eat more than two bites.
