Today I went in the business and orderd two dozen of donuts, when I got home I noticed they were burnt to a crisp in some spots. I went back and politely asked for donuts that weren't burnt or a refund well the lady at the counter called a lady named Lisa over whom didn't even bother to look at the donuts but says " I CANT TAKE THEM BACK THEY ALREADY LEFT THE SHOP" proceeded to say" we've been selling donuts all morning with an attitude so I told her how the f**k am I supposed to know that they're burnt. By then I knew she wasnt giving me good donuts or my money back . I came in there respectfully until Lisa had an attitude then yes I cussed her a*s out, because she was rude as hell. They can take your money and give you trash and won't make it right. So hopefully with the 27$ I spent between the donuts and the tip they find a better manager or fry cook! read more

Need a quick hearty breakfast in Belle Chasse? This spot is it. I work on the Naval Base and there aren't many food options on the way in to work (before 5:30am). I walked in and there was a gentleman ahead of me ordering donuts. After the cashier helped him she took my order and then went to the kitchen to make it. I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on toast. Within 6-7 minutes she was walking back out of the kitchen while closing a box as she said "bacon, egg and cheese on toast? That'll be $4 sweetheart!" It was fast! I believe I was In and out the restaurant in 10 minutes! Now the sandwich... the toast was perfectly buttered, the eggs firm but fluffy, the cheese melted perfectly and the bacon had that equal ratio of crunch and tenderness. I've been depriving my body of great food by stopping at State oil or Racetrack for their breakfast sandwiches. I'll be here every morning that time allows! Note: You can't call ahead (as I've tried but no one answers the phone) but the service is fast and efficient. So, my son and I were out and about looking for a bit to eat for breakfast. I happened upon this little place and it looked like something that could be great. It WAS, it IS, DAMN TASTY.. My breakfast, 2 huge biscuit sliced in half, their light flaky goodness smothered in a delicious Sausage gravy, that was almost to be too good to be true. Atop with 2 beautifully cooked runny sunny side up eggs, for $7.00!! Then on the way out I purchased a couple of biscuits ($2.00) for home and a donut the size of my head ($3.00) . There is not a missed note in the place. The donut, upon feasting upon it later was SO, SO, SO Tasty!! Try this place, so worth the drive. read more

The old hippy and I love funky Mom & Pop joints. We search out these places as they usually offer the home made Grandma in the kitchen baking vibe while Aunty is busy stirring the gravy. So with this in mind we set out on a journey: Into the Twilight Zone. This place is located in a parking lot of a grocery store. Looks like a good greasy spoon type place. Pretty hopeful walking in. We walk up to the counter looking up at the menu board. The lady asked us if we were dining in. We said we were. She told us to have a seat. And she would bring us a menu. When she brought the menu. I asked for two cups of coffee. And the old hippy asked for the restroom. He was given a big key ring and told it was outside around back. And off he went. I looked over the menu. Hmmmm basic breakfast fare nothing fancy. But I am not a fancy person. So. I sat and waited for my cup of coffee and the old hippy to return. My original waitress went outside to have a cigarette. I waited for one of the other two to bring me a cup. And I waited. And waited. Did I mention I waited,,,, Old hippy returns. He is looking at the menu. And we are now both waiting. Two waitresses at the counter were quite wonderful at ignoring our presence. So we waited for our coffee. The original waitress finally came back from her smoke break. And walked up to us with out washing her hands. We ordered. 4 kolaches and bacon. And COFFEEE. 5 minutes later. The order arrived. Kolaches cold in the middle. Nothing like a sausage Kolache under cooked and ice coldin the center. The bacon was 3 strips cooked into one flat piece that was so hard cold and brittle it was only held together by the cold grease that dripped from it. Still no coffee. I asked again for coffee. She finally brought it. I asked her to cook the kolaches. She took them back and a couple minutes brought them back. Luke warm and raw. The coffee finally arrived. Hot. Amd burnt tasting and weak. How da heck can you have burnt tasting weak coffee you might ask? I have no idea but that is what it was. Now mind you I understand using paper products but when you have a cafe and people are eating in. Styrofoam is not the way to go. Plastic utensils are not appropriate. The hilarious thing about the entire episode. Is they have a sign posted please understand we are short staffed so be patient and tip well. Posted so you can't miss it. Three staff. 2 standing at the counter and one out smoking. And no dam coffee. The tip equated the service I received. I don't tip on quality of food. As usually the waitress has no control over the cook. I tip on the service I received and equaled their effort. Needless to say we won't be back. read more

I have to update, and I hate it. I really wish management would require employees to wear gloves while they are handling doughnuts. On one occasion, the employee was cleaning the counters, came straight to the doughnut case and started handling doughnuts with what looked like a piece of tissue paper. I wanted to give them another try, so we went back last week..different employee this time. She put her phone down and came straight to the doughnut case, used the tissue, and handled our doughnuts. When we got home, the doughnuts had rips in them from where her fingers had dug into them. Their doughnuts and biscuits are delicious, but the food safety issues are too much for me. read more

I love this place. It is super clean. Picture an old school diner, super tiny with a couple booths and a row of genuine stools lining a counter. You sit down, are greeted with the smell of fresh coffee and donuts and a "Good morning or afternoon", and you sit back and relax. You over hear old men tell lies and old ladies reminisce about the good ole days. You can watch middle aged people rush in for coffee looking harried and walk out with a smile and a hot fresh cup in their hands. In the morning, you can see elementary school kids come in and press their little hands on the donut counter choosing their morning treasure with glittery eyes and their little squeaky voices, looking up at parents for approval to add that one more donut hole. If you are expecting a pretentious, overpriced dining experience here, then don't bother. The food here is fresh, simple and fairly priced comfort food. It comes out hot and fresh in a reasonable amount of time. Sure, it is not the most updated and trendy place, but I feel confident in the quality of the food and the cleanliness of the cooking area. The most comforting part is the atmosphere. As soon as you plop down you are included, one of the regulars. If you can't decide what you want there is always someone willing to help with suggestions. Let me say that the steak sandwich is a winner as are all of the donuts and muffins I have had there. My favorite is the sausage egg and cheese biscuit with my eggs over easy....mmmmm. The staff is super sweet. Some of them are more friendly than others, but everyone greets you with a smile, and tries hard to get your order right. I have never had them mess up an order or treat me with anything but kindness. I suppose this is why I stop here no less than 3 times most weeks on my way to work. Rude!! Rude!!! Rude!! I wish yelp would allow "0's" or negatives to be given. My daughter and I went in for a few simple donuts and the lady behind the counter was really rude. I'm from out of state and used to love coming to this place when I visit. Will not visit again. I must make mention that we think this lady is "newer" and seemed like she was put out to grab a few donuts for us. I still left a tip because I figure tips are split between all the ladies and I do believe there are good people there. Wish I had her name but never will know who she is because I will not go back. I am giving this place 3 stars bc I ate the food but I wouldn't go back. The food is cheap in price and it reflects what you get. Bacon was not crispy, chicken tenders were hard, the hash browns were similar to the ones from McDonalds, my soda was flat, the waffle was edible. Some people probably love it, for me, I would rather pay more for better quality. I am not necessarily complaining about the place, I kind of had an idea of what we were getting ourselves into when we went. They must be known for their donuts because the food here is mostly frozen. This morning, they didn't even have any donuts. As for what they did have: Frozen hash browns, frozen waffles, pre toasted bread (the butter didn't even melt). The eggs were cooked right though. (that's the only thing about my food that was decent). Everything was served in styrofoam and had plastic utensils. The coffee was blah as well. The girly got a muffin and she liked that, but that was the only baked goods they had. Inside, it's old school drab. It could use a bit of a face-lift and some repair-work. The ceiling dripped on poor Girly so we had to move before ordering. Once we got our food, we never saw our waitress again. She was actually nice but was probably spread a bit thin. I'm guessing one of the other women was supposed to be taking up her slack. But the other waitress wasn't a whole lot of use. No coffee refills offered and no water offered and the old waitress spent most of our time leaning on the counter, complaining about how the people here in Louisiana had no manners and she was brought up better in Missouri. She actually said, "Where I grew up in Missouri, we were taught that if a man had a table and a woman walked in, then he would get up and give it to her". Of course she is saying this in front of everyone in the place. Sorry sweet-cheeks, but where I grew up, we were taught not to insult all the customers who are giving you money to bring them food and not your attitude. Besides, women's lib, remember. Finally, A small intimate place to relax and have good doughnuts. I've been trying to find a decent Cafe place ever since I moved here from Seattle a couple months ago. I'm a huge doughnut fan and I'm glad they have a good variety, especially since my favorite is the Bavarian Cream Filled, to choose from. I live on Base, which is 10 minutes away, and I'm glad this place is close. I'm a huge supporter of small, locally owned businesses and I'm glad this place fulfills my need of doughnuts!! read more

I was in there today the first time in a very long time. I was warmly greeted by a heavyset woman. Who quickly got my husband and I drinks. She made us our food Patti melt and a burger. Not only was the food great service was outstanding. The thing that set this apart from our last visit was there was no profanity out of her mouth. The last few times we have made our way here we have suffered constant profanity the f word every other word when speaking to people and this is a worker. Every Saturday afternoon. Having to drive over the bridge to get donuts because we didn't wanna smell like smoke going to school and then taste smoke when we bit into the donut. A good little 24/7 donut shop real close to where I work. The donuts are always fresh and the coffee is always ready to go. I usually pick up donuts for watching film and this place is pretty cheap with great food. A nice little spot to get your donut fix and listen to the old men who come out to talk about life. I never get a chance to try the lunch and other breakfast options, so stay tuned! I'm sure I will give this place that fifth star once I try out the rest of their menu! read more

First time visit left us with a terrible first impression! We entered the diner around 1PM on a Friday and one lady (Juanita) was working/running the whole show. There was only one other person sitting in a booth when we arrived. No greeting, just staring. My partner had to ask if we just seat ourselves. Juanita took our drink order and then said "what do you want?" My partner explained this was our first time and asked for menus. She gave them to us and then stood there staring at us until we ordered. My partner tried to order the patty melt to which she responded "I don't mess with that. You'll have to order something else. I'll burn it!" He asked if he should stick with the breakfast items, her responding "I don't know. This isn't my shift. I'm subbing." He ended up ordering 2 of the breakfast sandwiches which is named after her, so she can't be too new. Juanita commenting "Two? Boy you must be really hungry." (We found this to be mildly insulting). He then proceeded to try to order a side of Texas toast. She responded "We don't do that. That bread is for the melt only." (You mean the sandwich you refuse to make... noted) I went with the breakfast combo, 2 eggs over medium, hash browns, bacon and biscuits. When my food arrived I got toast instead of biscuits. No check in after we tasted our food, no refills... nothing. 2-3 people came in for donuts only and she appeared to really be put out having to get them for customers. Huffing at and rushing each person. It was about this time that an older gentleman came in and tried to place an order with her at the counter, to which she drew back her fist and threatened to punch him if he didn't "wait his turn" (hand on bible this really happened). Judging by her poor attitude thus far I wouldn't have tested her on it either... We also noticed about halfway through the meal that the ceiling was leaking water onto my plate... rusty... dirty looking water, from the ceiling tiles. From the looks of it, they have many leaks that need tending to. We decided we were finished and ready to leave so we stood by the cash register to check out, patiently waiting for her to take the order of another couple that just came in. Thought about getting donuts togo, however, there were several flies inside the case She cashed us out promptly adding "Sorry about the sandwich, I just don't mess with that." (Again offering no new news... we are clear on the fact that you won't make it... noted!) It is a sweet little local diner where all the "old farts" come and hang out, as told by Ruby! =D I will be back to try their menu items and get more donuts!!!!!!!!
