My friend highly recommended that I come here ti try the Yakamein while in town. The people were friendly, but I must have come on the wrong day food quality wise. The beef and shrimp yakamein was $14,99, but only came with 4 small pieces of beef and one shrimp. When I asked the lady at the front desk, she said that they are pre-filled and always had plenty of meat. That was unfortunately not the case for me. It also only came with half of an egg and not a whole egg, which kind of surprised me. I was so excited to visit, but left highly disappointed in the quality of food during my experience. I do want to give them another chance during the week, but I'm not sure it's worth the drive. My total came to around $20 for the yakamein and donut and there is ample free parking. This place has some of the best food around with a large menu and plenty to choose from. I usually order several items like the gumbo or the po-boy plate. This time I went with the glazed donuts, easily some of my favorite donuts. This spot does require patience since everything is cooked to order and it's almost always packed. That said, I've never had a bad meal here. It's definitely a hole-in-the-wall, so don't expect a lot when it comes to cleanliness, and that's the reason for the 4 stars. Paying $14.99 for a wing plate is a little absurd but I must say you definitely got your moneys worth. I did a pickup order and they told me 15mins, and they were every bit of on time. The customer service was good. The lady that took my order was very helpful & knowledgeable. Not only did I receive this hug plate of wings and fries, I got a large drink and 1 free donut. Our Uber driver recommended this to us on our 3:30am ride home! We were looking for a breakfast spot without having to go to downtown and this was perfect. The menu is HUGE and they are open 24hours. My mom loved her omelette & grits (they are not stingy with the bacon) The portion sizes were huge, and everything was cooked nicely. The ladies at the counter were helpful and quick. The food was terrible - Extremely unseasoned. The donuts look fine but we got the étouffée and fried fish and it was tasteless. The lady was emotionless but a complete sweetheart. With all my extra requests (more napkins, a new bag, bought two donuts) she was nice and didn't give me grief about anything. Anyways, I was standing around for a good 3/4 minutes before she emerged from the back to take my order. I ordered the smothered Turkey wing, with jambalaya, shrimp & crawfish pasta and potato salad. No lie, it took about a good 20/25 minutes for my food to come out, but it was absolutely worth the wait. The Turkey just fell off the bone. (If you Turkey wings then you know it can be tough and hard if not cooked properly.) I DIDNT NEED A TOOTHPICK AFTER EATING THE WING! That says a lot to me lol. Everything about the wing was perfection, the seasoning, the texture, the HEAT! The jambalaya was soooo freaking good. Potato salad was meh, there was a herb in it I didn't really care for but that's a me problem. And the crawfish and shrimp pasta was PERFECTION!!! I can't emphasize enough how kind this lady was to me even tho I went back up to the register about 3 more times after my initial order. She was so much patience and that is a big deal for me.
