    Christmas Fancy Donuts
    Deirdre T.

10 out of 10. No notes. The best glazed donuts I've had in this city. That means a lot considering I hail from HTown and the home of Shipley's. The fresh glazed was hot enough to satisfy but had cooled long enough for the glaze to really Tati k to the bread. My son had the red glazed Christmas donut and it came with a cute little candy cane ring as a souvenir. The parking lot was packed at around 8:20a and a lot of the specialty donuts had already been purchased but the workers were quick and efficient. Will definitely return to try those cinnamon rolls and get more of the warm glazed donuts.

Oh wow! I went here based on the reviews on Yelp! It was awesome. Got a dozen donuts and donut holes. Our favorite was the chocolate covered cake donut. It's a whole in the wall feel but the service was wonderful. A pleasant surprise is your glazed donuts are hot!

I experienced the Bakers Dozen for the first time last week... Let's just say it won't be my last! A coworker brought a bunch of glazed donuts into work, and they are hands down the BEST glazed donuts in the city! I typically only like cake donuts, but now I've been converted. They are thick, perfectly sweet, soft, and chewy. Not your average glazed donut! Do yourself a favor, go get some! Grab me a few while you're at it ;)

I don't live too far from Bakers Dozen, but it's a good thing I don't live any closer. What an amazing array of fresh and pretty donuts! Anything you could think of, including seasonal items! Service is prompt and efficient, although the parking is scarce. Excellent!

The donuts are so good! My faves are the glazed twists & honeybun, so yummy! Coming back every chance I get.

    This is what i ordered.

I like the softness of the glazed donuts but it's too sweet! I ordered a coffee, i think it's white vanilla and it's too sweet also. I hope they can lessen the sweetness of there donuts and the coffee.

Oh I'm sorry!! I've removed that inaccurate info. Thanks for the correction. Glad to know you're still in business, yay!!

    Apple crumble & apple cinnamon

It's easy to see why this place has been around for so long. Bakers Dozen has so many cute and creative donuts but I'll only order two when I come here because they're just that good. The Apple Crumble and the Apple Cinnamon are life. I can't decide which one I enjoy more, the crumble of Apple Crumble or the cinnamon sugary goodness of the Apple Cinnamon. Luckily I don't have to choose and just get half and half. Both are filled with warm and delicious apple filling and taste like the best apple pie you've ever had in your life but in donut form. They are little pillows of heaven. Normally I'm not a donut person, especially at breakfast. Don't get me wrong, they're good and everything but for breakfast I want savory, not sweet. Has Bakers Dozen changed this stance? Yes indeed. Don't let the line out the door stop you from trying them! So worth the wait for these babies!

Just amazing. Their donuts are freshly made, the sugar rush will last for hours, their glaze Will leave a shining mark around your mouth for hours, asking you to go back for more. The glazed donut with creme filling is simply heaven.

The best donuts. Hands down. Period. No competition! They are only open in the morning so hurry that way before they close! You get a free donut with every dozen you buy too. These are thick, heavenly, and perfectly sweet (not too sweet like KK)

It was a dozen but I ate some

Best doughnuts ever. Get there early if you want a selection because they run out! They will keep making the glazed though until they close.

District meets the suburbs…read more I've been to the locations on Magazine and Harrison several times but 1st time I have been to this one. This one feels like a chain restaurant (which it now is) and has no real personality being pinned in between a bike shop and a Jersey Mike's inside of strip mall. The kolaches at District are really good. They have a variety of flavors, I usually get a smoked sausage, cheese and jalapeno which is tasty but this time I got a brisket boudin and cream cheese kolache in a collaboration with Gonzo's. This was phenomenal. I also got a regular glazed donut. This was not that good. It's too dense and too thick. I like my glazed donuts to be light and airy; I want it to almost melt in my mouth. All of District's donuts are thick. Most of them are good especially the banana pudding donut. The issue is these aren't really donuts more like cakes or just a dessert. If you are coming to get your order to go this place is fine but if you want to hang out, I prefer the other locations.

The dough is soft, buttery, and rich without being heavy, and the cinnamon-sugar filling is perfectly balanced (sweet but not cloying). You can tell it's made with the same care as their donuts. The icing is generous without drowning the cake, and the traditional Mardi Gras sprinkles add that classic festive touch. It's indulgent, flavorful, and dangerously easy to keep slicing "just one more piece." Also worth noting: it stays moist for days, which is rare for king cake. If you're torn between traditional and over-the-top versions, this is a great middle ground--classic flavor, elevated execution. Easily one of the better king cakes in the city, and definitely worth picking up during the season. Would 100% buy again.

Here wheat fields bow, their gilded spines resigned, Transformed by hands into a living dough, Wild yeast and patience, earth and sky combined, A tang of hope, an oven's gentle glow; Each loaf a testament to all we sow. This bread, crackling crust and airy, sour-sweet, Is more than sustenance; it is a prayer For all who gather, breaking bread to greet The morning light, and taste the love baked there; A grace that rises softly through the air. Yet one delight eludes my hungry heart: The one for whom my eager soul is yearning. I call to the Creator, source of every part, Their absence stains the loaf, the fields, the burning Of longing that the rising sun keeps turning. Grant me solace, Creator, as seasons spin. Above, within the ancient oaks outside, Two yellow birds in sunlit rapture sing, Echoing the baker's joy, the pride Of daily blessings, simple, sanctified. While I, earthbound, savor crust and spring, Trusting the Creator will one day lift my wing. Why do they sing so bright, so unafraid? Perhaps their hope is kneaded by the Creator's hand, While I, with all this gold and bread, remain unswayed. Hillel Yisroel (Albert) Canalizo

They heated up the savory pastry, which I appreciate. The coffee was good too and not burnt or sour. I loved that they had bread samples too, I would def buy a loaf of olive bread. The doughnuts are delicious. I'm a particular fan of cinnamon rolls, and they have two completely different styles. There's the honey bun, the usual fried doughnut shop style, and that's as good as any I've ever had. The second is at the other end of the spectrum, not an in-between thing like Cinnabon, not one of those that's really just a loaf of bread, but a dense, chewy, yeast-raised and baked cinnamon sweet roll doused in white icing. That's my personal favorite type, and this one is top notch. And just a bit huge. My wife has tried a number of the doughnut types and raves over them. For comparison, don't think greasy, wet, sugary fat bombs like Krispy Kreme, and don't think airy and dry like grocery doughnuts. These are dense, sweet but not greasy yeast-raised doughnuts. Like LaMars, if you've ever been lucky enough to live near one. The five stars is for the pastry and the old-fashioned neighborhood cheap breakfast joint feel. Don't expect gourmet bacon and eggs. It's decent breakfast for not much money. Whaddaya want fer nuttin anyway?

Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing visit to Sweet Things Metairie…read more From the moment I walked in, the service felt off. There were no menus visible, and when I asked what was available, the employee didn't offer any guidance--just asked what I wanted. When I said a dozen donuts, she pointed at the display and said "this is it." No explanation, no friendliness. Only after I specifically asked if they had breakfast sandwiches did she pull out a folded paper menu, which I found odd since it wasn't offered at the start. The biggest issue was the food quality. When I got to my car and opened the croissant breakfast sandwich, the bacon was completely burnt--so burnt it wasn't edible. I threw the entire sandwich away. The donuts were also handled poorly. Two of the iced donuts were placed upside down in the box, with the icing smashed and stuck to the packaging (as shown in the photos). Between the lack of customer service, poor food quality, and careless packaging, this was not a good experience. I won't be returning and wouldn't recommend it to others.
