Traditional donut shop on Canal street. I got a glazed donut because thats my litmus of a good donut shop, none of this fancy stuff for me, and the donut reminded me of the donuts of my childhood so good. My daughter got an oreo (cookies and cream?) donut. She also got a breakfast sandwich, bacon egg and cheese, that was freshly made and smelled delicious. She chose a biscuit but also had the option of croissant. Service is quick and friendly!

The cook

If you want donuts by a place that lets the cook have their feet out while making them go for it but for me its unprofessional and unsanitary but the food was ok and decent but next time don't have your cook come out from the back with no socks on and wearing slides and maybe have better staff with good customer service the girl with the big red glasses was rude and just texting on her phone the whole like i said unprofessional! I have been here before and service was great but now i dont know what happened it was not the best experience the second time I went in hope thing turn around

The actual building has no tables inside but a few tables outside with umbrellas.

I really love donuts and when I tell you, I had to go to this place three days in a row just to try to get my fix. They were excellent.

Cafe Du Monde - Beignets with hot chocolate

You gotta go. It's New Orleans!!!…read more Cafe du Monde is one of those places where you just have to embrace the chaos, get powdered sugar all over your body and have some fun with it. The beignets + cafe au lait are exactly what you want, and it's such a perfect spot to sit, relax, people watch and take in all the New Orleans craziness around you. My favorite time to go is either really late at night or ridiculously early in the morning. Both just hit different. Also... CASH ONLY!!! If you sit at a table the servers come to you quick! Powdered sugar covered clothes are basically a souvenir. 10/10 New Orleans experience.

I'd literally been told I had to go here so many times that by the time I landed in New Orleans, I pretty much made a beeline straight for this legendary cafe. This cafe is located right outside Jackson Square right off the waterfront. They are open late, as they close at either 11p or 12am every day. When we went in the middle of the afternoon, the place was very busy as it was hard to find a table in their outside patio, so we settled for a table in the indoor section(A/C SCORE!!). The ground was littered with powdered sugar as customers like myself don't always understand how to eat these beignets without making a big mess. The beignets themselves were pretty inexpensive as they cost only $4.53 for a 3-pack. I also got a large frozen coffee for $7.70. The beignets were delivered to our table very fast and very warm. The movie "Chef" says you only get your first bite of your first beignet from Cafe Du Monde once in your life and to cherish the moment and I do truly understand what they meant with that quote. These beignets were so great and that first bite with the powdered sugar explosion was so amazing-I really enjoyed the recklessness of having a beignet at Cafe Du Monde. Overall, I feel that anyone who visits New Orleans has to find their way to this legendary cafe and enjoy this dish that has been served since 1862. A really great bite!.

My wife and I were in town for a business meeting and decided to stop at an old favorite. We hadn't…read morebeen to CC in about 13 years, but we remember how good it had been in the past and wanted to sneak in a visit while we had a chance. We were not disappointed! We ended up at the Metairie location, which ended up being very convenient since there is substantial parking right out front, which is rare in N.O. It's in a modern shopping center but still has that quaint feel of the original location. The staff immediately greeted us when we came through the door and were very attentive and knowledgeable. We were there just before the after school rush and timed everything perfectly. I was planning to get a different flavor this time, but I ended up with my old standby, Red Velvet. This stuff is so good it's illegal in 49 states. It's subtle and perfectly understated by the chunks of cake mixed throughout. It's what keeps me coming back. My wife got a scoop each of the Peanut Butter Cup and the Cookie Monster. Both were absolutely delicious, as I can personally attest since I stole a bite of both. All in all, I can't wait to go back. It was every bit as good as I remembered. Do yourself a favor and check them out.

Lawd ha'mercy!!! Last couple of trips out there, I had Cafe Du Monde's beignets cos...they're the…read moreones I always hear about. A couple of YouTubers said Loretta's are betta. Our first day back out there, fortunately, the line wasn't too long so I got some plain beignets, a crab beignet and some sweet potato cookies. First thing I ate was the crab beignet. WOW! I'm not the biggest fan of crab but that thing with that sauce...!! Lived up to the hype. I love candied yams and sweet potato pie so I had to try those cookies. Also amazing! Huge. Texture was perfect. Dang!! Now, the beignets. Did I like them more than Cafe Du Monde's? Hands down! Si! Oui! Nai! YES!!!!!!!!!! From the first bite! Dang!!! I still have to try Cafe Beignet's beignets. But Loretta's is gonna be a tough act to follow. I will never come out there and not go to Loretta's. Will someday make a trip to the location at North Rampart Street. And the service...! The young man who took our order was so nice. There was a bit of a wait (just a few minutes. Totally worth it!) but there's seating right across from Loretta's stand. My next visit, I'm bringing some zip lock bags and/or Tupperware cos I'm bringing some Loretta's back home with me. Dang!

One of the customers suggested having the line routed through the inside of the covered market, which was an amazing idea. So I walked to the front of the line and asked the cashier if she would be able to reroute us so we wouldn't all get soaking wet. She was the only person working up front and taking orders, but she was pleasant and kind and said sure. After she finished taking the order she was working on, she came from around the counter and rerouted the line so we could all get out of the rain. After that, the line seemed to move a little quicker too. I'd say we waited about 30 minutes, maybe even 25. We knew what we wanted because we were able to see the menu while we were waiting, but there are no prices listed, so you are a little shocked when you get to the register. I believe one crab beignet was between $8 and $9. I ended up spending about $40 total on two orders of traditional beignets, one crab beignet, a sweet potato cookie, and one order of praline beignets. The traditional and the praline come with three each, but the crab only comes with one. I posted one of my receipts below. Can't seem to find the receipt from my larger order. Now let's get to the taste.... they were amazing! Yes, when you go, try the crab and try the praline. I probably would not buy the traditional beignets again because they are significantly smaller than the Café du Monde beignets, and the taste is not drastically different. So you're paying more and getting less for pretty much the same product. But I would absolutely go back for the crab, the praline, and some of the other items she has. My cousin also had the beignet burger, which she said was great. All in all, it was a great experience. I just wish the beignets were a little bigger and the prices were a little lower, but with the cost of everything going up, I do understand. There's not much of an ambiance because you're pretty much sitting in a covered market. Birds are flying around, tourists are walking through looking at the different kiosks, and there's a lot going on around you. But they made the beignets to order, brought them out really fast, and there was a guy walking around wiping the tables after each person got up because, of course, there was powdered sugar EVERYWHERE. Lol.
