I initially wanted French Toast, but because I got behind the power curve, I decided to grab something quick, so I stopped in for an early morning BIRTHDAY BREAKFAST... Happy Birthday To Me, right. I found it to be a quaint neighborhood cafe with hours from 7am - 3pm; perfect cafe hours. As I approached the cashier, I noticed a middle aged lady with bright fiery red hair... I just knew from her vibrant appearance, she'd be bubbly, BUT she wasn't. Lol. I notice a French accent, which was quite a surprise, there was no mention of such in any of the reviews I read. I ordered a croissant sandwich because from a picture that I saw online, it looked to be a generous size & quite scrumptious. Much to my dismay, while tasty, it was much, much smaller than its online appearance. The food was delivered to me, which was quite pleasant & unexpected. I ordered a latte with Oat Milk as my tummy won't tolerate the cow's milk. Moooooo. Lol. I like the quaint feel indoors and to note, there's an outdoor patio to offset the intimate interior. On this morning, it was a bit too cold to sit outside and I'd like to say I'll return, but that's a lie. The reason you ask, well I didn't feel welcomed upon my entrance. When ordering my sandwich, the red haired cashier got snippy with me after I asked a question by saying "if you don't see it on the menu, we don't have it"... I was like hmmmmmm ok. It was my bday, so I was in the BEST of spirits & mood, maybe RED woke up on the wrong side of "le lit", which is bed in French . Definitely not something I want to be part of my BIRTHDAY EXPERIENCE, so I'm penning this review and erasing it from my mind. If you find a parking spot, grab it because as stated, it's in a neighborhood, so parking is limited. $9.30 for a small breakfast sandwich is a bit much, so bring extra coins if you come, you'll need it. Le Ponce has their Galette des Rois (golden, flaky puff pastry) available for the Mardi Gras season. There's a choice between chocolate filled and almond filled. You can also get it by the slice or a whole cake. I got a slice of the almond warmed up and it was really delicious! Light and flaky! Almost delicate. It's not overly sweet, which was perfect. Le Ponce is a great spot for breakfast or lunch! The build-your-own sandwich is a great idea, and I LOVED the herb goat cheese. They have a small indoor space with a few tables and also a courtyard that you have to enter through the restaurant. I will say that you pay extra for dairy-free milk, but then they have free daily-free milk you can add to your coffee at a separate table...? Le Ponce offers beautiful croissants, breakfast sandwiches, choquettes (slightly sweet French pastries that are delectable! The 'sweet' cousin of the gougère) Bright and clean, the smell welcomes you in the front door. I was greeted by the owner who was lovely, and ordered a fabulous breakfast sandwich with compte cheese, bacon and scrambled eggs on one of their picture perfect croissants. I sipped on a large cold brew iced coffee while my order was prepared. The inside space is light and bright and clean. Le Ponce offers its guests WiFi and plenty of power outlets throughout the indoor space. A small lovely outdoor area is also available with seating in the front side and back. We were excited to try this place, as there were many good reviews. The staff was not friendly upon arriving and almost rude throughout our transaction. In my personal opinion, the pastries appeared small and overpriced so we did not purchase any. My husband did get two coconut macaroons which he said were OK. Unfortunately our coffees were the biggest disappointment. We ordered a flat white and an iced latte. Both were terrible in taste and we tossed them shortly after purchasing. Such a charming place for breakfast. Popped in this morning with my sister for an impromptu bite. I had recently saved this place on my Instagram from a post I saw. So happened today I was close enough in the city to try the breakfast sandwich for myself. The croissant was delicious. I didn't you had the option of choosing how your sandwich built. So it was fun trying to be creative with my sister and the assistance of the cashier. The staff was so pleasant and I enjoyed hearing them speak French to on another. The music they were playing actually fit the vibe. Cons: 1. Dude at the register/barista: no greeting, no smile, no "how are you?", no "thank you", no "bye," no "have a good day." He actually seemed annoyed that we walked in. And in the check-out process, there was no "no tip" option. You can bypass it, but they don't make it obvious. 2.
