this was a small coffee shop but we came because a lot of the coffee shops in the area used their beans to make coffee. I always like to pick up a bag of beans when I travel so this was the spot. Goodness I hate to say this. Highly recommended by many people but just didn't hit the spot for me. First, the barista was so lovely and kind, and I could tell they enjoyed working here and making drinks for people. The space, adorable. They had a little bit mighty roaster working in the back. Respect for that. The coffee: vibe is hot and iced drinks in compostable paper cups and pasta straws. I think this is very cool and environmentally conscious but it also gave me an idea of the coffee I was going to get. We ordered two iced oat milk vanilla lattes. The oat felt a little watery to me? Not sure what they use. We didn't really drink much before tossing it but strange enough I'm still glad I tried it. I think my drink just needed more ice and more vanilla so that everything would be a little more pronounced. I did appreciate that I could taste the espresso. Great little coffee shop. Really small inside and limited outside seating so more of a grab and go kinda place. Which works it's in a great location for it. Grab a coffee and stroll along the greenway. I enjoyed my large latte and was very reasonably priced compared to a lot of other places. The barista was very helpful. Hey Coffee was hosting an art show that featured a friend and I was out of town for the opening, so I hightailed it across to town to see the art for the final weekend. Of course, while there I had a seriously delicious biscuit and a steel tumbler of iced tea. PERFECTION! The space is small as befits a grab and go coffee shop but there is seating for 10 or so, but with the high ceilings, it does not feel cramped. I'd never heard of it but while I was waiting for my bagel from flour moon I stepped over and grabbed a small, no-foam, five shot, half-caf, no foam, pumpkin spice latte, with no foam, at 210 degrees (*vanilla latte) the owner? The one person doing everything and you call it out when you get there is disorganized and she gets the order wrong most of the time as I was sitting there listening. I come here at least once a week when I walk my dog down the greenway. I try to be polite and I've never complained. I order the same thing every time. An iced mocha and a cup of water for my dog. This Monday (6/23) was absolutely the worst experience. The lady with the tattoos is at least cordial and the man that works here, I believe he's either the owner or the manager, it's always super nice. But the African American lady with the red hat this morning (Monday) was terrible with a capital T. Not only was her attitude terrible, but the coffee was undrinkable. I've had a lot of iced mochas in my time (I'm 66) but I believe this is the first time I've literally spit it out. It tasted like iced poison. It was bitter and sour with NO mocha flavor at all. It's almost as if she deliberately made it unpalatable. I contemplated just throwing it away, but it was just too hot outside to walk home without some type of liquid. So I went back in and, as nicely as I could, explained that it tasted horrible. She didn't argue and she made me another. This one was inexplicably worse than the first! There were people at the counter who seemed to be enjoying their beverages, so I can only assume that she did this intentionally. Also, when I ordered the first time she muttered something that sounded like "her". I said, "I'm sorry?" For her to repeat it. Then it sounded like "curd". I said, "curd?". This was obviously pissing her off. Then she said it again and I realized she was saying, "heard" to indicate that she heard me. All the while she was giving me the stare of death. I'd never heard anyone say that before so it took me a minute to figure out what she meant. I had to throw the second coffee away, it was so horrible. Maybe she dislikes dogs. My dog is always well-behaved when I bring him in and he immediately lies down on the cool floor and quietly waits for me to order. Then I take his water outside so he doesn't slurp on the floor (a lesson I learned from the tattoo lady barista). I guess from now on the only recourse I have is to peek in before I enter and see who's working. I know the male barista/owner is pleasant and I think the lady barista with the tattoos tolerates us. She was actually very nice on a Sunday when she was off work and was sitting outside and spotted us walking. I hate to be negative and I always try to give the benefit of the doubt, but this was blatantly intolerable. If it were possible to give a zero star review, I would. I don't want to stop coming in, as it's conveniently halfway on our walk and my dog appreciates the rest stop. But today was a turning point. I mentioned the attitude thing to the owner/manager last time I was in, and he confirmed that I'm not the first person who's complained. I don't expect everyone to love me and engage in brilliant conversation. I would be content to get a smile and a drinkable cup of coffee, but this type of treatment is unacceptable. I popped over here to grab some donuts from PawPaw's donuts (he was doing a pop up here) and that how I discovered this little gem. While I was there, I ordered coffee, a slice of quiche and a breakfast taco. The quiche was the largest slice of quiche I had ever seen. I have a big mouth but I couldn't open wide enough to bite into this slice of heaven! And it was the creamiest, flavorful and most decadent slice of quiche I have ever devoured. I have usually enjoyed coming to this establishment, but my recent experience with a new hire--a Black woman with colorful hair--has made me reconsider. Her customer service skills are unacceptable. She was rude to my sister on a previous visit and, once again, rude to both of us during this visit. Because of this negative experience, I will no longer support this establishment if this is the standard for customer service. When I asked a simple question about cup sizes, she looked at me as if I were illiterate, which was incredibly disrespectful. I didn't even go through with my coffee purchase. The drinks are quality and they have a fizz bar (Sodajerks) that is awesome!! I love a good bubbly drink and these do not disappoint. I'm from outside New Orleans, but recently moved to Oakland, CA. I frequently Hey! On a monthly basis, as I love specialty coffee and this shop is very consistent and in a few great locations in the city. My friend Devin, who is a local roaster in Hammond, LA and I had been talking about Yemeni coffee and trying to get our hands on some. For those unfamiliar, Yemen was one do the first places coffee was grown and cultivated. It's also a hard region to export from, modern-day. I was very pleasantly surprised when this showed up at my door, sent from Devin! I brewed a cup immediately using my Hario V60, and it was fresh and bright. The jasmine came out for me in the tasting notes, giving it a light and almost tea-like body. I've always loved this space to frequent, but this was an extra special surprise! read more

Honestly, Lichelle is enough reason to visit this location in the morning if I have to say so myself. I work close by, so I visited early morning and her smiling face and great personality will perk you up in the morning. Just having a conversation with her as she makes you a delicious treat is what I call superb customer service! This location has some great coffee available! You can also get lattes (currently only flavor available, if you are a flavor person is vanilla). Also, some pastries and a few breakfast items are available! The location is cute. It's a small section to sit, so not good for big groups, but great for a nice day of reading or something. There is street parking in the area and you shouldn't have any issues in that! read more

I've passed this building I don't know how many times and never knew it housed a coffee shop. It's located along the Lafitte Greenway and is next door to Flour Moon Bagels. The shop is kind of small, but they utilize the space well. There's a bench along the wall with some tables and chair and some bar space around the perimeter for those who want to stay a while. There are even a couple of small tables outside. They roast their own coffee which I think is super cool. The dink selection is made up of all of the usual suspects like espresso, mochas, drip coffee, cappuccinos, chai, etc. I had an iced chai with oat milk and it was perfect for the warm day. I grabbed a table outside and enjoyed the beautiful views of the Greenway. It's a perfect place to stop by while on a morning or afternoon walk, catch up with a friend, or answer a few emails. My favorite part was the corner of branded merchandise. The shirts and drink ware are so cute! read more

We came here this morning for some coffee and baked goods. It's a cute spot where you walk up into a storefront vestibule and they bring everything out. There are some cafe tables outside for sitting, but since it had rained that morning, we just made a picnic under the awning around the corner. We got two drip coffees that were strong and tasted fine, but seriously cannot believe that you would open a coffeeshop with neither cream nor half-and-half in stock (also, Whole Foods is two blocks away: why not make a quick run?). The whole milk didn't cut it for us. Our daughter's hot chocolate was solid. Baked goods (chocolate croissant and candied orange-currant scone) were not up to snuff: both were rubbery and didn't strike us as fresh. Service was friendly and had we been able to cream our coffees the way we like to, this review would probably be a rounded-up four stars. We're not saying you shouldn't go here--you should because it's a sweet lil local business--but we think there's better to be had in the city. read more

Just blink and this place can be in Austin, Portland, Denver etc. But what really annoys me is that a culturally diverse city can be reduced to this generic blob. During my last visit there was a guy with a dog. I will assume that it's an emotional support dog because every entitled brat moving to the city has one for his/her dog to take it on the subway, coffeeshop etc. This particular dog had it's paw on the counter, sniffed around my food and bag. This is a precious little place that gives back to the community but I don't love it. I guess I was confused by the fact that my soy milk cappucino didn't appear to come with soy milk? Or maybe, there was a tiny tiny splash that was frothed but it was mostly espresso with a little bit of water? The espresso was not bad but not amazing. Not much seating, pretty small.
