Super yummy coffee spot! Gotta try the lemon bars. They're so thick and lemony I love them. It's never been super busy when I come so getting my coffee/treat is usually pretty quick. They have enough room for people to sit down and eat.. the lady who took my order was very friendly and if I had any questions, she answered them. Our Airbnb was a 5 minute walk to this place making it very convenient to stop here for coffee and a quick bite before a day of sightseeing. We ordered lattes for our caffeine fix, a breakfast sandwich, and a quiche. The lattes were excellent. I ordered mine with caramel so it was on the sweeter side, but definitely worth a try. My partner ordered a breakfast sandwich, the one she ordered only had egg and cheese on it, she didn't realize it, they are very generous with the egg and the sandwich is delicious, but my partner tends to get sick when she eats too much egg. I got the Quiche Lorraine, It was a very generous piece of Quiche. It was tasty and filling, it kept me full for most of the day. They also have a huge selection of hot sauce, it was nice to pick a few and try new ones that I hadn't seen before. This place was pretty busy, but they got the orders out fast. We were actually looking for a breakfast tortilla place (being from south Texas we had a craving) this looked very promising. Went early before 8am -definitely would not have found it without know it was there. Once there I changed my mind on the burrito and went for the poached Eggs ! I poached eggs. Spouse got the burrito which is HUGE and very yummy ! The muffin was tasty and my coffee superb. Love the inside high ceilings funky lights nice layout. Bus your tables when done. Outside eating also available. Only Recommendation is have salsa on side or over by hot sauce table -there was a hot sauce for everyone's taste. Recommend and will be back. Lots of artwork inside on the walls. Very eclectic. The person taking orders at the counter was very nice and pleasant. Many coffee and espresso options. Pastries and quiche in the case. They offer sandwiches, bowls, etc. I got a bacon, egg and cheese on a biscuit. Decaf iced latte with vanilla. I got it to go as I was working at home for the day. After a glowing recommendation from a friend of mine, I came here for breakfast on my way to downtown for a class and it was glorious! I was focused on getting the Greek breakfast burrito with my dirty chai, and then I saw the frittata muffins. Holy shirt mother trucker! I ordered 2 because they looked smaller in the case, but they were huge. On the day I came in, they had a veggie with mushrooms available along with something with ham and basil that came with a basil aioli and it was FANTASTIC. I was glad I kept one for a mid morning snack for my class! In other news, the dirty chai with almond milk was awesome as well and for $12 for coffee and 2 frittatas with tip, it was a STEAL. They buy a pretty C+ croissant , which tastes a bit more like challah bread, posing as a French brioche. Heated, it's a touch better. A solid B-. Their bacon scone was a hit, though. A+. The salmon bagel, though was a real soul/Saul breaker. The crème fraiche was not cream cheese. I'm not even sure that it was crème fraiche. What I am sure about is that you have to be super Wonder Bread to put tortilla chips with that. Tortilla chips. Insert Picard facepalm gif here. Other than it was close to where I was staying, nothing remarkable about it. In a city full of coffee houses, I wouldn't seek it out, unless I was nearby. read more

Nice nibblies and snacks, they've always have been exceptional- I had one of their Quiche's almost 8 years back that was phenomenal. Their gluten free deserts are crazy good as well. Hell, all their food is good. Of course the ambiance is fine. Service is efficient. However something about the coffee is always lacking. I've had latte's & cappucino's here many times... I walk away feeling like I just drank a decaf or warm coffee milk. They're always so watered down & I can only imagine the beans they're using do not have much caffeine... Waited in line and got the register got met with a Gay dude trying way to hard to be sassy. Said "sup" and took my order. Gave me my total and flipped the tablet to confirm my payment (ask for a tip) I didn't give a tip because why would I tip a cashier? Especially one who didn't make eye contact, smile, say hello, or act pleasant in general. I said thank you and he responded by sarcastically saying thank you for not tipping in front of everyone else in the line. Clearly disconnected from reality. HiVolt is a block from my office, and it's my usual coffee spot. I'll often also get breakfast or lunch there. Today, I ordered online, and I walked over with my shih tzu (who joined me at the office today). I picked him up as I opened the door. As soon as I got in, someone behind the counter loudly fussed, saying "no dogs! you need to leave!" I get it, so I was going to wait outside. And I said "ok, I'm just picking up an order I placed." He turned his back and no one responded. I then said, "can someone bring it out to me?" No response from the guy who yelled or the staff. So, I left. Like some coffee spots, they have had a bit of a hipstery, "too cool for school" attitude, which had been tolerable in the past. So much for any customer service, though, at HiVolt! PS - if you do have a "no dogs" policy, put a little sign on your door. Or, if you don't have a sign, don't be a dick. How are people supposed to know your coffee shop doesn't allow dogs? Nice little coffee spot that is very Vegan/Vegetarian friendly! I've had their green smoothie and coffees a few times. Never had an issue with them. They have a specific rule about their wifi accessibility (which I can't remember) but this is to help with flow of traffic and to have tables available during lunch. Staff is super friendly there and it's a great break from my rotation of other coffee shops. It's more of an open kitchen so you can see everything being made in front of you! We were planning on buying food but were just waiting to fully settle in and in that time this man came up to us and said "the barista told me that you guys didn't order anything" my sister proceeded to say "we were planning on ordering something" to which he replied "okay but this is a SHOP" in the rudest way you could imagine. All the outlets were screwed shut I was not aware before but now I am made aware of the fact that they don't like people sitting in there and doing work because instead of considering it a "coffee study shop" they consider it JUST a SHOP. So you can grab your food grab, grab the bagel you may have ordered and leave. Because then again it's not a shop, you know their tables and chairs just exist for no reason at all, and I wouldn't even bother sitting down when they screwed all their outlets shut!! the atmosphere was also pretty dull as the workers stalked us from behind the counters. The morning after having had lots of drinks at a bar called the HALF MOON, and craving a hangover cure, I remembered seeing a corner coffee shop across the street with very cool deco-era windows - and walked my way back down there in search of a good coffee. After standing in line outside for what seemed like an eternity, I ordered a latte and when I got it, not only was it good, it was delicious. I was hungry so ordered one of their smaller bkfst sandwiches - the Brekky - and it was the best buttermilk biscuit I've had in a long time.
