We came in for early breakfast on a Saturday morning. Service was phenomenal (Thanks, Ty!) and food came out piping hot and FAST! We ordered French Toast bites (sublime), Chantilly Pancakes, and a custom omelette. I'm not normally a fan of biscuits, but theirs was perfect! Flaky and buttery and literally melted in my mouth. The restaurant was already crowded when we arrived, but several people checked in on us, and no one made us feel rushed while we were eating. This was my mom and I first time at the new Ruby Slipper Location, and it did not disappoint! Our server Mia was very kind and provided us with excellent, efficient service. For the food, we tried the French toast bites with Mia's recommendation and it was very sweet and savory! I also tried the Chicken St. Charles (my first time trying an egg Benedict) with a side of grits annd my mom got the shrimp and grits. For the Chicken St. Charles, the flavor was great and the chicken was very crispy. For the shrimp and grits, the flavor was great and the chef was very generous with the shrimps. I have been waiting to visit this new location on Veterans. We love the food at the Ruby Slipper, it's always so delicious. The Gulf Shrimp Omelette is one of my favorite and the French Toast bites are really nice to start and of course you cannot pass on the Mimosa Flight ! Have never been to any Ruby Slipper location, but decided to bring a visiting relative to the Vets location instead of Metairie Rd just because of the parking. Started to regret that decision because our food was taking way longer than it should. Our very attentive waitress, Lourdes, brought the manager over to explain that there was a problem with the oven and the biscuits (which was the hold up) could be changed to another bread option. We decided to wait for the biscuits and I'm so glad we did. They were great! Wait was longer than it should have been, but the manager made up for it with a credit on our bill. I find that from location to location of this restaurant there is no consistency. This newest location in Metairie, is bigger, has more seating options ( which I guess is truly no different than the other locations). The thing that was more obvious to me at this new location was the service. It could've been for a number of reasons , or no reason at all. I'm not sure if we are still in the era that we are supposed to be forgiven for service that is infact, questionable. I mean I am obsessed with the french toast bites. So chances are that I will return to my usual location. I just want someone to know. If not only the people that might actually read my review ( it's my hope that I actually get like the managers attention). I just want someone to know that it would appear that most at this location might not be ready for business. I overheard a waitress that stated she needed more hours. It might be true. The starter we ordered came out at the same time as the food, not that big of a deal! The food was awful! The grits were watery, and had a bitter taste, the chicken sausage patty could not be bitten into, and the French toast bites were burnt! All we wanted to do is pay our $70.00 bill and get out!
