Five stars is the least of exaggeration of this empire of a breakfast and lunch location located in New Orleans, Louisiana. It always feel good to be home, but Ruby slipper never fails at making you feel like you are at grandma's house. The shrimp and grits are phenomenal. The texture of the grits is warm and has a great consistency and the seasons within the juices - marinates perfectly with the shrimp. We also ordered kids pancakes, which was huge in its proportion for the kids. I cannot exaggerate the smiles on the kid's face when eating a cinnamon swirl pancake dripped with powdered sugar in a glazed sauce on top. The biscuits, there are words that cannot explain the different tastes and the crispiness on the outside and the gooey soft cooked inside of this biscuit to match, but it is extraordinary to say the least. We come to this space once a year and we'll keep coming until the end of time. Ask for Misty!!! read more

We came on a Tuesday with no reservation and waited about 15 mins. The menu was big, the food yummy and the service friendly. I had the fried catfish with grits and the hubby had beignets. Glad we came here. read more

I always saw this restaurant in passing, and I love trying new restaurants in New Orleans so I wanted to give them a try. I wasn't all that impressed. I started off with a boozy coffee drink and it was not good the chocolate was clashing with the Irish cream and something about the taste of the drink was off. My server was nice for the most part. The menu looked great so I ordered a decent amount off of it considering it was a solo date, and I regret wasting the money. The loaded tots was the best item I ordered. They were cheesy, savory and very flavorful. The shrimp and grits once again just tasted off. It's not like they weren't seasoned but its flavor profile was offputting. I also wanted to sample the cinnamon roll pancake. That was the biggest negative of the meal. The cake itself was tasty but personally I need either chocolate chips or a thick cream cheese glaze (in terms of this cinnamon roll pancake) to be satisfied. The glaze was honestly gross, the one thing that saved the pancake was the fact that I got a cinnamon butter. I can say with confidence I've been here once before and I don't have to come back again. read more

When in NOLA, our go-to for brunch, lunch or almost anytime is ALWAYS The Ruby Slipper! From chatting with our bartender there are now 7 locations, but we haven't found a single one that dissapoints. The spicy bloody mary with bacon is da bomb, although I didn't have it this trip. A simple order of grits with added jalapeno and cheddar with a side of bacon was all I needed this time. Oh - an Irish coffee was also needed. Every menu item I've ever had on our many visits here as well as the NOLA hospitality ALWAYS keeps us coming back! Adding yet another review to my 'I frequent this place but fail to review' list... read more

This is a solid place to eat. The only thing I'd recommend is not to grab a bite here when it's busy and to take the outdoor seating. Its beautiful on a sunny day, but we slightly had a timing issue with ordering and getting served which was a bit upsetting. The food was great though, came out warm and delicious. I had some wonderful pancakes and fried green tomatoes. Their tater tots were wonderful as well. It was a good breakfast for me and the family. read more

If you're looking for an authentic NOLA experience that seamlessly blends warm hospitality, delectable food, look no further than this spot. Please note that there will be a wait time, we came on a Sat morning and probably waited close to 1 1/2 hr but it's definitely worth it. Although this is a popular and bustling spot, the hostess staff's warmth and attentiveness set the tone for a great dining experience. Now let's talk about the heart and soul of this place, the food. The menu boasts an array of authentic Southern breakfast/ brunch cuisine that transported my tastebuds to various levels. Each dish we ordered was a culinary masterpiece with a perfect blend of flavors and textures that showcases the Chef's commitment to quality and authenticity. What truly elevates Ruby Slipper Cafe is not just the remarkable food, but the seamless coordination between the kitchen and wait staff. The service is prompt, attentive, and full of personality! In conclusion, the Ruby Sipper Cafe is an iconic gem that goes beyond just being a restaurant but an experience. It succeeded our expectations not only by satisfying our palates but created a long lasting impression of an amazing dinning experience. read more

Tommie was amazing!!! She took care of us like family!! The food- so good. Location not to far from the French Quarter

I have been to New Orleans countless times over the past decade, but somehow I've managed to miss this gem every trip! Ruby Slipper has hands down one of the best breakfast/brunch spots I've ever been to, and the price was extremely affordable considering the portion sizes and how good the food tasted. The restaurant isn't that big, which meant there was a waiting list. Luckily, I was solo and was able to get a spot at the bar relatively quick. Besides inside dining and bar seating, they also have outdoor dining available as well. The staff was great! Everyone from the Greeter, to the bartenders and servers, were pleasant and helpful. If you go, You HAVE to try the French Toast Bites - it'll be the best decision you'll make while in the French Quarter! I am also a fan of their Southern Breakfast - two eggs any style, grits, Applewood-smoked bacon, and fried green tomatoes with a buttermilk biscuit for just $12.75. You can't go wrong with visiting Ruby Slipper if you're looking for a great tasting meal to keep you leveled while exploring the French Quarter. read more

Tasty late breakfast / early lunch. Got on a call ahead list, 45 minute wait, so walked around. Seated right at 45 minutes. All food items were served hot and were tasty -- french toast bites, beignet bites (although they were called something else), shrimp and grits, salmon omelet, and more. Large, fluffy, biscuits with cinnamon butter. Well-made bloody mary too! Great choice! read more

This was a great hole in the wall for breakfast. Sometimes the quarter is hot and crowded, but it was easy to get a table and the service was great. It's kind of funky and the food was delicious. I had the crab omelette and a highly recommended. read more

Super delicious food. Everything we ordered was amazing. The cinnamon pancakes are incredible.

Service was great and the food was very good. I ordered the Migas--it wasn't as spicy as I thought it would be, which was totally fine, and it was a lot of food. The biscuits and butter honestly could not have been better. The place was cute and had a really welcoming vibe. Would definitely come back! read more

the food here was phenomenal, the french toast bites and fried chicken was a flawless dish. The chicken was crispy and well seasoned and the french toast bites had a nice bit of spice but were crispy and sweet. I also go the shrimp and grits which wasn't the best I ever had but was still delicious. Buttery and packed with flavor overall. Service took around 30 minutes for to go but the place was packed. They have a separate area for to go as well and do it through a phone call so you don't have to sit there the entire time. Overall a great classic spot to visit for some breakfast. read more

Visiting from SC to enjoy time from work my husband and I ventured to Ruby Slipper/Ruby Sunshine. We were greeted by a very high spirited person. Her personality was fire . Upon sitting at the bar we had a waitress named Hannah that appeared very unhappy to be at work. Water no straws. We didnt complain we just got up and grabbed them ourselves. Ordered our food Received my coffee it was not hot to include adding chilled creamer. Hannah became so overwhelmed by my request for hit coffee she demanded someone remove us from our desired seat. We came in love and left the same way. Reminder to all service workers from a service worker....dont allow cold coffee to set your mood for the day. Hannah we apologize if we offended you, yet your behavior did spark unsettling feelings momentarily in or visit. Udidit thx for turning things around. I know that not the spelling of your name. This was a busy place today, but it was worth the wait! They had table & bar top seating. The hostess ladies were super nice, but our male server was a bit nonexistent. The food was great!!! The French dip bites were plentiful & the praline sauce to dip them in was divine. We also got the biscuits & gravy with a side of fried chicken - the chicken was moist & had great flavor, & the biscuits & gravy were delicious, but a little on the cold side. I definitely recommend this place for brunch!! read more

I do recommend you add yourself to the waitlist which it did help cut some of our wait time. The food, service and ambiance is wonderful and I was happy that I came. Their pancakes, omelette and biscuit Benedict were so delish! Sorry I didn't post all my food pics, but I can assure you everything was tasty! read more

Not sure why this place is so famous, the food was really bad. Saw one more couple who entered with us and the plates as is. The server had cold and she sneezed in our food. We fell ill for a week after eating here. And do yourself a favor and don't order banana foster French toast. They picked something good and went on a mission to get the worst out of it. Overly sweet, syrupy, very soggy bread floating in middle of sugar. read more

Had breakfast at the Ruby slipper in the French quarter. Even tho this is a chain restaurant, I like the uniqueness of menu. I ordered the banana foster French toast and it was good but I was hoping for more of a flavor as the name describes it. The server was helpful and has the southern hospitality attitude. read more

Not a terrific experience this morning. Food was just barely okay. My eggs in the breakfast tacos were watery and bland, and there was barely any bacon to notice. Tons of sauce and avocado, though if that's your thing. The wife's food was equally as mediocre. Service was not excellent. Waiter never came back after food came out and another employee cleared our table because our plates were stacked. read more

Everything was wonderful. From the host (Stan) to our "personal" waitress () (Judit) to the manager (Damon) who came to speak with us. OK, now let me tell you how good the food was. I enjoyed the Fried Green Tomatoes, Chicken St. Charles & Bayou Shrimp Bennies. My Beautiful & Lovely wife enjoyed the French Toast Bites. Everything was prepared to perfection (for our taste buds). The atmosphere and decor is perfect for a small or not so small group read more

The first thing to note is the amazing service. Between the waitlist system and the serving staff, everyone is on their A game! Outdoor seating is minimal and in front of the restaurant on the sidewalk, so we opted to take the kiddos indoors. They were very busy as expected on a Saturday morning. The food was good, nothing to shout about but satisfying. Prices aren't too bad either. read more

Menu is imaginative and the food is quite good, although quite expensive. Food arrived cold, but could not get service attention to rectify as restaurant was extremely busy; however when service was available it was very effective and attentive. Also prepare for long wait to be seated. Other restaurants may offer complementary coffee or drinks for patrons waiting in long lines for service to be seated. Restaurant provides sidewalk and indoors seating. Inside was very crowded and it was difficult to reach the bathroom windind my way through a room overcrowded with tables. Also, the noise levels inside the restaurant were deafening. Finally, the bathroom was not clean, and the floor was extremely slippery. I almost fell twice getting up off the toilet. Not an experience I wish to repeat read more

I mean do I need to say anymore? Do the pictures not speak for themselves? The city of New Orleans has so much to offer for every meal type : Breakfast/Brunch, Lunch, Dinner, and Dessert. You really can't go wrong finding a breakfast spot in the city it's more so about your preference. Ruby slipper is one of my favorites hands down. From the service to the ambiance in the restaurant to all of the food, it's just one of the spots to be at for breakfast. This was one of the best batches of biscuits and gravy that's I've ever had and that goes for anywhere. The whole plate was gone . The portion size is Perfect. The biscuit was nice and airy as well as buttery. The bacon crispy but not burnt. The eggs beautifully cheesy and seasoned. My sister got the fried chicken with French toast bites and that was just delicious all the way around. From the crispy / juicy salty chicken to the sweet crunchy yet soft French toast bites . Love ruby slipper always. read more

Had some great food during our visit here. The staff was fast and very kind. A bit out of the way, but so worth it. Only issue was that they forgot the seasonal beignets my table ordered. Unfortunately we were running late and didn't have time to wait for them afterwards. Still wish I got to try them! I definitely recommend trying the Sweet Heat Chicken and French Toast bites! I recommend checking in prior to getting there otherwise you might be in for a long wait. While you wait to be seated definitely check out the nearby book store or clothing store! read more

My friend who visited nola reccomded this place... I give it a 3 star, it's okay. Our server was great but The food was veryyyy salty. So i must say when i attended this place it was in the middle of the summer hooooot so I'll give a little grace. First things first we were sat down at a table close to the bar ( me my wife and 3 kids), but we were there almost 20 minutes before anyone decided to take our order . I guess it was the confused look on our face that got one of the bar tenders attention but apparently we were "forgot about" after being seated....... Regardless we stayed and decided to order,I ordered the shrimp and grits with an espresso martini kind of drink , again....it was super hot but nonetheless when my drink arrived i noticed it had a gnat in it... now I'll give a place a chance and understood the conditions and location but at the same time the standard must be enforced. I let the bartender know and he gave an excuse but did replace the drink and even gave a complementary drink so that was a plus. The environment was small , packed , and flies everywhere so needless to say i probably won't make a second trip when I'm back in Nola . The food was OK looked a lot better than i tasted but wasn't bad , overall experience I'd give a 5/10 probably won't come back again ! read more
