    ahi tuna tartare
    Michelle Z.

Not the best tacos I've had but cute beachy vibes and nice outdoor seating here. The tuna tartare was good (I liked the avocado and the chips were super crispy) but the tacos I thought were just okay-- the ribeye one was probably the best but a little too salty for me. Both the chorizo and market fish tacos felt a bit bland even with all the sauces; squeezing lime on top definitely helped. The shrimp taco was pretty good but wasn't anything special imo. The tacos are pretty pricey ($7-8 each). The location is great and they have nice outdoor seating. It's a very casual order at the counter place, and they hand you a buzzer for when your food is ready.

3.8 Stars overall (rounded up) but so much potential to be more! Let me explain. This place is a whole vibe! I always pass by and notice how busy it gets so I finally decided to try it for myself post 4+ mile walk! There was a live musician, playing tropical beats which I loved! Indoor and outdoor seating - I was able to grab a stool at the window so I had a perfect seat with fresh air, shade, and full access to hearing the music from outside. Limited seating so do be aware if you are coming with a larger party. For food, I got their chicken Cesar wrap - 3/5 stars for me. I was not impressed at all by the chicken, it was slightly dry and very bland if not eaten with the Cesar salad in the mix. Bummed as I expected way more flavor from the chicken alone instead of it being masked. There is a very small serving of their Cesar dressing they offer on the side, small cup. Other than that, I loved the crispy tortilla wrap and portion was ginormous! More than enough for just 1 person. Other items on the menu looked/sounded very tasty so I'll definitely be back to try more! (Hence my comment of increase in rating). I do recommend this business on your next Ocean Beach visit!

It's odd that I wrote a review for Ruby's and yet, I don't see it in my Yelp list of reviews! So, in light of that, this is a reposting of that review because I want Ruby's to get as much business as possible. They're a great addition to the neighborhood and I'd like them to stay around for a long time! Went to Ruby's for an early dinner/late lunch with a group of ladies and loved the friendliness and food! Monique, the proprietor, came to the table to check on us and to thank us for dining at her establishment. Even though they don't usually take reservations, she had a table set up for the 9 of us. We each ordered and paid for our individual orders at the counter, so there was no worry about someone either paying too much or too little. Our food and beverages were brought to the table for us. I had two tacos, the grilled fish and the ribeye, and they were both delicious! I was advised to eat the ribeye first and I did. Both were juicy and tender. My dining companions had a variety of dishes. The poke bowl looked amazing and the person who had it was very happy with it. The Fishermen's Stew also looked fantastic. The person who had that was a bit disappointed in the beginning because she thought it was more of a soup than a stew, but then she said all the seafood was under the soup and there was plenty of it. Others had the Rainbow Salad, a single fish taco, and the chips with salsa and guac. Everyone was very happy with what was ordered, but there was a lot of "I'll try that next time"! So glad to have this neighborhood gem here. Will definitely return!

Grilled fish wrap and I added Asiago. So fresh clean and crisp and delicious! 100/10 highly recommend

3.5 STARS Gorgeous sunny weather in the city calls for tacos and beer on the patio! While there's no shortage of places you can get tacos in the city, where can you find Irish Corned Beef AND Smash Burger Tacos?! At Ruby's.... From the owners of Mission Rock Resort. Walk-in only, no rezzies. Order at the counter and your order will be brought to you. Self-serve water. Bus your own table. M E N U California beach-style fare: salads, tacos, and wraps. Beer and low-abv margarita. Weekday HH Deal: Discounted alkie. 4% SF surcharge. T A C O S * Carnitas w/ hoisin, cucumber, sesame, green onion, flour tortilla ($6.50) Best of four, the Chinese Peking duck-inspired taco was generously filled with warm, tender carnitas on a chewy house-made flour tortilla. It had a great balance of familiar sweet and savory flavors with a fresh crunch from the cucumber. * Ribeye w/ oaxaca cheese, pickled onion, house salsa, corn tortilla ($7) Sadly, Ruby's most traditional offering completely missed the mark. The ribeye was dry and underseasoned, and the mild salsa verde didn't add much flavor. * Irish w/ corned beef, cabbage, secret sauce, guinness mustard, corn tortilla ($7) Cabbage heavy with several paper-thin slices of corned beef, warmed up on the flat top. A thicker cut might be a better move since the corned beef was both dry and greasy. * Smash Burger w/ short rib & brisket blend, pickled onion, tomato, pickle, american cheese, secret sauce, little gem ($8) A viral TikTok hack of smashing ground beef directly onto a tortilla, searing it on a hot skillet, and topping it with cheese and fixings. I think the flat top may not have been hot enough? The beef drippings seeped into the center of the tortilla instead of forming an even, crispy crust. It ended up being too oily, with not enough acidity from the pickles and onions to balance it out. Lastly, this taco felt expensive for what it was. S E R V I C E Fast during Friday lunchtime. A M B I A N C E Casual, low-key with a handful of tables inside. Plentiful outdoor seating on the sidewalk and in the two parklets. Ideal spot to hit up before or after the beach. Overall, loved the creativity behind the tacos! Maybe it was an off day but most of the tacos I tried missed mark on execution and/or needed seasoning. Too bad they didn't have an actually spicy salsa to kick up the flavors.

It's nice to see this corner location occupied again after Beach'n sadly closed. That was a satisfying vegan spot, although their hours were challenging for me because they closed by 2PM during the week. The new owners, Nick and Monique Osborne of Mission Rock Resort, appear committed to serving lunch and dinner because they're open until 8PM. This is good news because I usually don't get to the N-Judah terminus until later in the afternoon. When I recently got off the MUNI train, I was so pleased to see this space open. I entered without giving any thought to the menu which fortunately featured several items that would've pulled me in anyway... artisan tacos, soups & stews, salads, wraps, even an ahi tuna tartare. I ordered the $16 Rainbow Salad, quite a lollapalooza of fresh and colorful vegan ingredients tossed decoratively. It managed to look healthy and appetizing at the same time. It was made up of little gems, red cabbage, celery, radish, cilantro, mint, huge florets of pickled cauliflower, pepitas, and the most flavorful ingredient, bits of sweet potato, all tossed in a lime vinaigrette (Photo 8). As I expected, it's not the kind of place with cans of Coke Zero, so I went for the $6 House Guava Soda which added a nice tropical note to my salad (Photo 7). I'll definitely come back for those tacos. It's not every day you see smashburger as a filling. FOOD - 5 stars...that rainbow salad was a lucky pick for me AMBIANCE - 4.5 stars...nice beachside vibe, pretty spacious with plenty of outdoor seating SERVICE - 4.5 stars...friendly and proactive with follow-up TOTAL - 5 stars...glad to see the Osbornes committed to recreating their Mission Bay sprit way out in the Sunset RELATED - Exploring the Sunset? When I arrived, there was a line out the door. It's a busy spot on weekends. They have decent amount of seating, but very limited indoor seating. Good, casual to grab a quick lunch with friends off of the beach The staff were efficient with ordering and getting drinks out. The food took a little bit to get out. The ahi tuna tare tare was good. My favorite taco was the carnitas one! The ribeye and smash burger tacos were good, but not my favorites. The Michelada was perfect!

Ruby's, on the corner of 48th and Judah is painted in sharp green, so it can't be missed! With interior and exterior seating, you order at the counter, pay, and the food gets delivered to you. Their tacos have all kinds of flavors, sauces and spices, making me want to try them all, although I had an appetite for only the carnitas and cauliflower. My friend ordered the ribeye which she particularly loved and the chorizo. The taco shells are homemade and yummy but they're slightly greasy. Nice spot close to Ocean Beach with warm and welcoming service. Will return to gobble some more!

    Carnitas taco

New spot for food if you've been getting tired of Hookfish. Although I would stick with their tacos. Ordered the ribeye taco, carnitas taco, fisherman's stew, and chips and guacamole. The ribeye taco was honestly the best taco I've had in a while. The melty cheese, crisped tortilla, and juicy meat was spectacular. The carnitas taco had a large chunk of tender meat, but flavor wasn't as interesting. The fisherman's stew had a lot of pieces of fish, but sadly they tasted a little too burnt from the grill. And at times it just felt like I was eating a watery salsa. The chips and guac were good, but the flavor was a bit one note, mainly sour. The tacos are pricey at $7, but they are worth it.

Have been wanting to check out Rubys since it opened and I will be back very soon. Some of the best tacos I've had in SF, great drink selection, and such a fun laid back spot. My friend got the chicken Caesar wrap which I am eyeing for my next visit! Of the three tacos I had (ribeye, carnitas, and chorizo) the carnitas was my favorite!

Great spot for a lunch by Ocean beach! Stopped by while completing the Golden Gate Dozen trail. Enjoyed the indoor seating. Definitely will come back to enjoy the cocktails!

I got the miso fish wrap. Although the ingredients were quite fresh, the fish could definitely be marinated for longer. It lacked that oomph factor that I was hoping for. Moreover it could have done with a little acidity in the taste profile.

    Fish and Irish Tacos
    Crystal B.

Food was amazing. We got the fish and Irish tacos. 100% would go back. The Irish taco had pastrami in it that almost looked like bacon. The cabbage was the perfect topping. Never had a taco like it and would go back just for that.

It used to be a traditional coffee shop much like Louis' right above the Sutro Baths. However, early in 2025, French-born chef Alfred Schilling took over and put his stamp on this venerable diner. I thought it might be the ideal spot for Jamie W and me to reunite with our pal Maggie for a Saturday morning breakfast. After all, the three of us used to come here in the early naughts, so it made sense to try the revamped Parisian menu in familiar surroundings. Everything looked the same to me. The hostess was a bit on automatic pilot and seated Jamie and me at a table for two. I had to point out a third person was coming, and it seemed to upset her game plan. Maggie arrived soon after, and she went veggie and ordered the $20 Chèvre Omelet (Photo 9). Presumably inspired by the cuisine of the Loire Valley, the eggs were filled with mixed mushrooms, olives, arugula, and mild goat cheese. Tomato Provençal, herb roasted potatoes, and a crusty slice of rustic bread completed her French countryside dish. Jamie inexplicably went south of the border and ordered the $22 Mexicaine Omelet with avocado, bacon, Monterey Jack, and pico de gallo (Photo 7). Nothing French about it except the name. But it was good Cal-Mex fare. I didn't stay in France either and ventured to Italy with the $22 Florentine Benedict, a pair of poached eggs with sautéed spinach, tomato, and Parmesan atop an English muffin. I was grateful the Meyer lemon hollandaise sauce was on the side because it would've been too much ladled on everything (Photo 10). I was bummed we didn't have time to stay for dinner, but we grabbed seats at the bar, shared the AMAZING tomato soup and bread, and had a couple cocktails. Everyone talks about their bread being some of the best sourdough in SF, and it really is pretty amazing! I'd describe it as more of a rustic take on sourdough--warm, hearty and perfect with the soup. Loved the cozy, laid-back atmosphere and the whole vibe of this place. We will definitely be back next time for the full dinner experience!

Unfortunately, I left feeling like the experience simply didn't justify the hype or the price. To start with the positives, the pecan brioche sticky bun was genuinely delicious. At $8 it was hard to justify the price for the size, but the flavor was excellent. The smash potatoes were also very well done, crispy, flavorful, and easily one of the better items we ordered, even if $10 felt steep for the portion. Everything else, however, left us scratching our heads. My in laws ordered the breakfast sandwich, which starts at $17 without the sausage. Adding the sausage brought it to an astonishing $23, and honestly, it was a pretty average breakfast sandwich. We all agreed we could have walked a block over to Devil's Teeth and gotten something larger, more satisfying, and nearly half the price. We also ordered the fried mortadella sandwich, which came in at $18. It tasted fine, but at the end of the day it felt like an expensive deli sandwich that didn't do enough to justify the cost. The biggest disappointment was the Dutch pancake. At $20, we expected something memorable. Instead, it arrived overcooked around the edges while the center was an absolute runny mess. It was easily the weakest dish of the meal. The dining experience itself also felt a bit strange. We were a party of five, and were asked if we'd be willing to share our table in case another group of three came in. I understand restaurants trying to maximize seating, but it made the meal feel less comfortable than we'd hoped. The saving grace of our visit was the staff. Everyone we interacted with was genuinely friendly, accommodating, and welcoming. They were the highlight of the experience and made us feel well taken care of despite our disappointment with the food. I can appreciate that Outerlands has built a loyal following over the years, but after this visit I just don't understand the hype. Between the inconsistent execution and the exceptionally high prices, it's difficult for me to justify coming back when there are so many other fantastic brunch spots in the Sunset offering better value.

All their dishes we tried here were beautifully presented, combined creative ingredients, and delicious! Warning: the Kotahi ceviche was super garlicky, so you vampires have been warned! Also, it normally comes with two pieces, but because there were three of us, they added on an extra for us. The meats for the main entrees were cooked perfectly and the almond torte was the perfect way to end the meal. I thought it came with vanilla ice cream at first, but it was actually a creamy yuzu! We even saw the owner helping out front of the house. Service was helpful and courteous.

Nestled in San Francisco, this Michelin-recommended spot (as of 2025) offers a modern, vibrant atmosphere that perfectly matches its inventive menu. We recently hosted a team dinner here with a custom family-style feast, and it was an unforgettable experience that showcased the true spirit of the region's diverse flavors. The Cuisine: The menu is a beautiful tapestry of textures and tastes, drawing inspiration from Greece, Turkey, and Armenia. It's the kind of cooking that feels both rustic and refined--think bold spices, fresh herbs, and a deep respect for quality ingredients. You can taste the history and passion in every dish, from the perfectly charred pita to the complex, layered cocktails. What We Drank: The cocktail program is as creative as the food. I highly recommend the "June Meets the Devil" (a smoky, sweet mix with Highland tequila and caramelized pineapple) or the sparkling "P.S. I Love You." For those skipping alcohol, the "Pomona" is a must-try--it's a clarified Granny Smith and celery concoction that's a bit on the sweeter side, but absolutely delicious and refreshing. The Feast: We started the meal with the "Breaking Bread" platter, and honestly, it was the highlight of the night. The pita was incredibly soft, warm, and clearly freshly made--perfect for scooping up the rich hummus and smoky muhammara. The salads were also a standout. The Fattoush was light and tangy, but the real star was the dish with the house-made cheese. The cheese was creamy, tangy, and elevated the entire plate. For the mains, the Octopus & Sujuk was a crowd-pleaser, with perfectly tender slices of octopus. The Anatolian Eriste was hands-down the best vegetarian dish of the evening. It features thick-cut noodles in a subtle but flavorful sauce, accompanied by a rice and mushroom stuffing that was absolutely divine. The Aleppo Half-Chicken was the only slight miss of the night--the meat was a bit dry for some of us--but the flavor from the sweet pepper glaze was top-tier, saving the dish. The 12-Hour Lamb Shoulder was fall-apart tender and packed with spice. Final Verdict: Dalida is a gem in the SF dining scene. Whether you're here for a special occasion or just a great meal, the level of care and flavor is evident. I'll definitely be back for that pita and the Anatolian Eriste alone!
