Great restaurant in this prime location near the beach. Food was good and price is fair. Staff is nice and attentive. It's nice they have a pick up/to-go ordering window on the side because sometimes going into a restaurant to pick up your order when it's packed is not fun. So glad their second location is here in the Sunset. There seems to be always a crowd here so that's a good thing. I hope this business thrives. I will be back again soon with my family and friends. read more

Tried a few of their tacos and cheeseburger burrito to go and would have to say I didn't find anything special. The hamburger burrito was disappointing, although unique to include fries inside the burrito, the meat didn't taste anything like a cheeseburger to me. The fish taco was decently fried but the fish lacked flavor. The shrimp taco was average and so were the street tacos. The salsa and crunchy tortilla chips weren't bad though! read more

Great tacos, loud music inside and out, friendly enthusiastic staff! They serve Tacos served "Nick's Way"?? ! Huh? Wut? Do you love Guac? Do you love double-layered tortillas around your super-meaty tacos? Well, then Underdogs Too is your kinda place! =). A Nick's Way Taco is a taco with a crispy corn tortilla wrapped in a soft corn tortilla with Monterey Jack cheese, pinto beans, pico de gallo & guacamole. I ordered two tacos "Nick's Way" . The first was a regular Pollo taco (grilled chicken) and the other was a Pollo Asado taco (shredded chicken raised by local provider Mary's Chicken). Both tacos came with a lot of pico de Gallo, and a HUGE dollop of Guacamole! After trying both of the tacos back to back, I think I'll go back for the regular Pollo (grilled chicken) version, as I found it more tasty.. PRO TIP: These little tacos are very filling! Next time, I'll just order just one for lunch - that's plenty, unless I was absolutely starving.... I first experienced these tacos when they had a booth at a local street fair, and was happy to happen upon this little corner of 46tj/Taraval way out here on the farthest Avenues in the Outer Sunset. Despite its proximity to the Ocean just a couple of blocks down the street, we visited here on a warm day to again savor this special style of taco. Worth coming back for sure. GETTING HERE: Easy transit access via the L Taraval Light Rail line which stops just across the street. Parking is relatively doable if you are willing to walk a block (worst case). read more

I have mixed feelings about this location because I usually go to the 9th Ave one and it's a hit every time. We normally get the fish tacos, nicks way and nachos there and have always had a great experience. Today, we were taking a stroll along Great Highway and had a spontaneous craving for a fish taco (regular) and margaritas, so we decided to stop by. The margarita was well made - no complaints there. Unfortunately, the fish taco was a bit disappointing. Just from the look of it, something seemed off. The batter was very dark and had a strong fried/burnt oil smell, which made me wonder if the oil was old or if it had been fried more than once. The biggest issue was that there was barely any fish inside - it felt pretty hollow and was mostly batter. We ended up eating around the batter and wished we had taken a picture. Maybe it was just an off day, but the taco definitely wasn't what we expected and left us a little unsatisfied. We'll probably stick with the 9th Ave location next time since it's been much more consistent. That said, the location is great - being right by the beach makes it a nice spot to stop by. I'd still say give it a try because the nachos are bomb! They're always my guilty pleasure (although definitely way too much for just two people ). read more

Stopped by Underdogs Too on Taraval and honestly the vibe was pretty cool. Definitely feels like one of those neighborhood sports bars that's perfect for catching the World Cup or a game with friends. I ordered the mahi burrito and it was kind of a letdown. The fish was pretty dry, so it didn't really hit for me. I'd still come back though. The atmosphere and energy of the place make it a fun spot to hang out, even if my food choice wasn't my favorite this time around. read more

I stopped by here last night with a friend to catch the NBA game. We have been to Underdogs at there other locations before and decided to check out this new one. I got there a bit earlier than he did, and the place was already getting packed! I was lucky enough to get us some seats inside with a shared table and ordered a bucket of beers (5 for the price of 6!) and waited for my buddy. The place itself is nice, there's an outdoor area on both sides for enjoyment and a TV if you're bored with talking to your friends (I kid!). But it's a nice layout with a bar and plenty of TVs inside to not miss any of the action. My buddy showed up, and we decided to go with the Loaded Nachos with Carnitas, and woahhhh were they loaded! They came out, and I was like damn, this could feed 3 people by itself. I asked for some spicier sauce, and they did not miss. Their habanero sauce was exactly the heat I was looking for to add on top of these nachos! A 3rd friend showed up a bit later, and lucky for us, it was Wing Wednesday. We got some wings and found them just a bit overcooked than we liked, but just might be their style. Flavoring was good, but the wings were just a bit tougher than we were used to. Overall, a great place for drinks and food. I normally grab their burritos, so I'll be back next time to get another one and beer again! read more

We came here on a beautiful Sunday morning. The place was a little busy, but they sat us outside right away. The server greeted us promptly, but he seemed overwhelmed. We ordered a couple drinks and our chips and guac came before the drinks. When we finally got our drinks, they were good. As far as food, it was solid. The burrito was the best thing we tried. I'd definitely come back for that and a margarita. read more

Chips and salsa: pico is pilled up on top, and it makes the chips soft. Needs a spicy kick, ask them to put pico on the side, not my favorite pico as it has too much lime making it tart Elote off the Cobb: cayenne pepper provide the spiciness, very cheesy, corn is sweet and flavorful Carne asada and carnitas taco nick's way: topped to the brim, nick's way tortilla was not crispy or worth the extra Carne asada burrito: solid burrito, meat was a bit dry and needed to put the salsa roja or verde Salsa roja js the best sauce. It is bottled in the table. Busy night= shared tables inside, water was provided right away as we sat down. Had to ask for plates for sauces and the food. Lots of TV and sports memorabilia in there and bar seating, Inside and outside patio seat is available. Close to the beach so you can get your food and enjoy the sunset. read more

Came here with some friends on a sat night and luckily got seated inside (it was packed!). Service was top notch - they accidentally got one of our orders wrong and immediately offered for us to keep the wrong order on the house and then brought out the right order after. Super impressed and thankful that they did this despite it already being super busy and packed. We got the loaded nachos to share and the baja and carne asada tacos (all made nick's way). Portions were huge!! And the flavors were so good. I'd def come back again read more

Lots of space inside with both bench and bar seating. The staff was really friendly and checked on us throughout the meal without being overbearing. The fish tacos were fresh, and the salsa and guacamole tasted fresh too. Would have given it 5 stars, but the chips were a little hard. Still a great spot and I'd come back. read more

Such a fun spot to go with fam and friends! Came here after walking my dog at the beach around 1:30pm on a Saturday, and there was a 15-20 min wait for outdoor seating. Several booths and benches for outdoor seating, which was perfect for my dog. Luckily, we got the booth! Not a bad wait time, and our food came out pretty quickly. I ordered 3 tacos (Al Pastor, Pollo Asada, Carne Asada) and they packed a lot of meat in each! I'd say it was pretty good, a bit dry, but the sauce they provided made it better. My dad loved his dish! I can't remember what it was called, there was a salad on the side and there were 3 wraps on his plate with cottage cheese and sour cream. I loved his dish more than mine! We both really enjoyed our meal, I'd love to come back after another walk along the beach. The location is also great with little stores and cafes nearby. Parking can be packed, but you can also park along the neighborhood. read more

The service was delightful, our waiter was super knowledgeable and took our orders right away. I tried the chips and salsa to begin with and it was delicious! The chips were nice and crunchy with a perfect layer of salt, the salsa was a tomatillo type which was really refreshing. Then I got the flautas, 2 chicken and 1 beef. These were delicious as well, I preferred the chicken over the beef, it had more flavor. This plate came with salad and guac/ cream & cheese on top.. everything came together just right. My husband tried the fried fish taco nicks way which he liked although he felt that it was overly battered/fried. Overall coming back for the great service, food and nice location. read more

We often goto Underdogs Too whenever we head to the zoo or the pump track at the Great Highway. I tried the street tacos with al pastor for the first time today. They were saucier and sweeter than I expected. They were still tasty, but I think I still prefer their other offerings like carne asada or fish. Service is always attentive here, even when they are busy. It was easy finding parking on the same block today since it was a weekday, but even on the weekend, you're able to find parking relatively easy within a couple of blocks. Great for easy dining with kids. read more

Delicious high quality white people tacos. Nicks way is a good way. Atmosphere is fun and friendly.

Hubby & I finished a round of golf at Lincoln golf course, and we were ready to have a cold one. Being a beautiful sunny day in the City yesterday we decided to head over to Underdogs located by the Great Highway. We entered the restaurant and waited to be seated. Choice of indoor or outdoor seating. We chose indoor as we been in the sun for four hours. We were given the drink menu and the food menu. Typically we'd both will get the Nick's taco but we both decided on burritos. Ordered - * hubby got the SF burrito with carne asada as his protein. Hubby doused his with both the red and green hot sauces from squirt bottles. * I went with the Baja burrito- mahi mahi as my protein. Mine had just enough fire. Both burritos were very hefty. They went well with our draft IPAs. This location is very roomy. There's a bar with plenty of TVs throughout. It was a nice way to wrap up our outdoor activity. Service was friendly and very efficient. We found street parking across the street. read more

Overall 3.5/5 rating for food. Salsa and guacamole were good and fresh, but the meat in the tacos was very dry and under seasoned. Tough comparison since we have so many options for good tacos in SF. However, I will say service was excellent and I could tell the ingredients were fresh. The horchata was also very good. read more

It's been a while and I realized I never updated this review since last time. Place has changed back to be more inline with their Irving location. Chips are provided, and their tacos have the crispy shell again. Staff is very friendly as well. I take back what I said previously. The owners reached out and tried to ask me to come back, and I did after a couple months later. Since then, I had been ordering their tacos again once a month or so. Thank you for correcting the mistakes and moving forward. read more

Food was good here. Staff seemed nice. Extremely casual place. Close to the beach for before or after dining. I really liked my flautas which arrived piping hot and tasted wonderful. I got 2 beef, which were my fav and a chicken. The salad was boring and bland with a decent scoop of bland guacamole. Hubby tried the burrito bowl and said he really enjoyed it. The table had 2 bottles of salsa you can use on your food. The red one was tad spicier and the green one was less salty and both were good in the flautas. I read the tacos are good here, will have to try them next time. read more

My friend Denise Hansford used to boast that her family owns Bashful Bull on Taraval in elementary school. I always wanted to go, but only many decades later when it's called Underdogs Too. It was a bustling Monday night and we were expected to wait for half a hour but were seated in about 15 minutes. The margarita was delicious, burrito tasty, fish tacos were buttery (Nick's way makes it cheesy and crispy), and the nachos are plentiful with toppings! Lots of large banners and screens of various sports line the walls, making a Monday night feel like it's the weekend. I'm told Denise's family still owns the building! read more

On a whim, I visited Underdogs Too to catch a Warriors game, and it truly embodies everything one desires in a sports bar: an array of flat-screen TVs, pitchers of margaritas complemented by a diverse selection of beers, and carb-laden meals that fuel a drunken game-watching. For our party of eight, seating was secured within twenty minutes on a Thursday evening, not bad at all. The televisions were all activated, and water was promptly served. I ordered the carne asada quesadilla; though, I'd say with its thicker, more rounded form, it resembled more a grilled burrito. They're pretty generous with fillings and was just what I needed to accompany the martini I also ordered (don't judge but it's an awesome pairing). And despite the chips on the side not being complimentary, they're worth ordering if you appreciate a more substantial chip. They're also freshly fried and come piping hot to the table. While service was occasionally slow, there was a high volume of patrons. Looking forward to returning hopefully to witness the Warriors clinch a playoff seat. read more

Came by on a beautiful Sunday afternoon for lunch after a morning of riding bikes up and down Great Highway. Love the outdoor seating with the wooden tables and bench seats in cubbies - I like that the bench goes all the way around on the inside to add an extra seat there! Service was friendly and efficient. Hibiscus agua fresca was delicious, and my son enjoyed his pineapple agua fresca. * chips, salsa, guac: the chips are thick cut and tasty. I wish the pico and guac were on the side instead of on top though, to make it a bit neater to eat (plus one kid likes guac but the other doesn't). Having the guac dolloped on top kind of hides that it's not a big portion of guac for the price, ha. Pico is fresh and tasty though! * carnitas tacos - generous amount of meat with crisped edges. My eldest ate up 3 * fish tacos - my friend got two. Each taco had a very generous amount of fried fish, to the point we joked he got fish and chips * chilaquiles rojo, add carne asada. Same thick cut chips that I like, sauce was ok, good amount of cotija, crema, guac. I was disappointed the egg was scrambled (like scrambled separately and then sprinkled into the chips) instead of fried and runny on top, which I prefer. Generous amount of carne asada, which was tender and quite tasty. * kids bean and cheese burrito: just a heads up it was on a whole wheat flour tortilla (my youngest much prefers white) and it's whole beans instead of refried. I like the bottles of salsa verde and the red/orange salsa. I'd definitely come back again and try something else - tacos seemed solid, and the meats were all good. read more

My best friend and I came here for a snack after visiting nearby Sunset Dunes. I really liked the concept of picnic tables indoors, which emphasized the beachy feel of the place while being comfortably tucked away from the elements. We got the skinny guac with veggies along with some churros to share. The guac was pretty standard, but the churros were out of this world. Fresh, hot, and crispy directly from the fryer, even our waitress mentioned the smell of them suddenly made her feel hungry, although she hadn't been prior. The churros alone definitely make it worth stopping by here on the way to or coming back from the beach. read more

We always have a great experience at Underdogs Too, and a big part of that is Kelley (2 e's, 2 l's). Her service, attention, and friendliness are consistently stellar; it's the kind of hospitality that makes you feel genuinely welcomed every time you walk in. Kelley is fantastic at helping with recommendations, whether we're trying something new or just can't decide. She also has an incredible sense for timing, especially with kids at the table. She makes a point to get their orders in quickly, which helps ward off delays (and the occasional hangry moment), and that level of awareness does not go unnoticed. Above all, what really stands out, beyond the great dining experience, is that Kelley remembers us. In a busy neighborhood spot, that personal touch means a lot and keeps us coming back. Thank you, Kelley, for always taking such great care of us. See you again soon! read more

I won't listen to anyone say this place is 1 star because it's a 5 star rated type of restaurant. I judge using 2 main things. 1. Friendly staff - trust me, when they talk to you you can tell they are genuine and naturally friendly. 2. Food - People who gave this restaurant 1 star should be banned from giving reviews, you will also notice that they have given very few reviews in the past. They get emotional for no reason which is a red flag. The food was exceptionally good! I have done a lot of restaurant reviews and trust me when I say the food here is top notch! So I highly recommend it. Don't listen to those other haters who give 1 star! read more
