My filet skewers came with a garlic or teriyaki choice....I chose garlic, as I can't imagine anyone would ruin decent steak with teriyaki. but thats just me. Steak was reasonably tender and cooked correctly to order. It was a shame that the garlic and salt completely overwhelmed it. Same with the garlic mashed potatoes, plus a bit of a consistency miss. At $22, I expected a side salad or vegetable of some sort. But there was nothing in the veggie category to be found. Ugh, I hate to leave this review based on my recent experience, but this is the 2nd time in a row I was extremely unhappy with the service and food. My boyfriend and I decided to get dinner. Arrived about 6:45 and were seated within 15-20 minutes which is the expected wait time on a weekend. Our hostess was Courtney and she seemed fairly nice and eager to get us started. We started with appetizer sampler that came coconut shrimp, ruby poppers and avocado steak egg rolls. The sampler was mediocre to say the least, however It was probably the best part of our dinner unfortunately. For the main entree I ordered and 6 oz top sirloin cooked medium with a side of mashed potatoes with white gravy. My boyfriend ordered a 7 oz filet mignon with a side of mushrooms, mashed potatoes. He also got Gorgonzola cheese topping for the steak. We waited over 45 mins for our food, I do understand good food takes time, but there was a table of 4 kiddy corner to us who came and ordered their food much later than ours, but they seemed to have gotten their food in a timely manner. Finally our food came out. And I kid you not, it looked overcooked and as if it had been sitting out for days! I wish I had taken a picture, but I was so caught off guard. My boyfriends looked way worse than mine. I stopped the server and said, sorry but this doesn't look appetizing and she agreed and said she'd have a new one out for him. I sucked it up and kept my plate, despite not being satisfied. We came for a date night, and here I am eating my hockey puck and cold mashed potatoes alone!! I ate half of my meal which I typically end up devouring, but not this time. About 15 mins later my boyfriends new steak arrives, mind you while he waited for his new steak all the sides were left with us to sit and get cold!!! His new steak arrived and it was much better, but there was no apology or offer to bring in new sides. At this point, we've had 3 different waitresses, I finally spoke up to the girl who brought out the new steak. She had a pink ponytail and I told her my frustration with the food and service and she didn't really seem to care. She said "oh ok, did you want a new one?" I'm sorry, but I'm not here to spend my entire evening here waiting for food because you guys can't get it right the first time!! As I was done with my meal, I sat there and watched my boyfriend eat. Got rare that had been seared on one side as they tried to push it from rare to medium rare. My girlfriend ordered the Filet Mignon medium. Got it rare on one side and burnt on the other. Again, the kitchen tried to push it from rare to medium. To top it off, a fight broke out in the bar area. The staff, including managers stood around and watched. They should have called the police and let them do their job. And what is with flash frying potatoes after they are cooked? We spent about what we would at a steakhouse chain, but the quality is MUCH better. I ordered the filet and had them add Gorgonzola with the famous jacketed potato. My husband ordered the Oscar and both were cooked perfectly, melted like butter, and had no gristle or fat left behind. The potatoes were delicious as well. We added the coconut shrimp to one of the orders and wished we ordered more. They were that good. We walked in at 5:30 and were seated immediately. The service was excellent. Hubby and I stopped in about a week ago for dinner. The last time we were here (several years ago) I remember being unimpressed and getting just-ok burgers. I'm not even sure they have burgers on the menu anymore, but that's ok because the food was much better this time! The warm sourdough they bring out first thing is scrumptious. I almost would have rather gotten another loaf of bread instead of an appetizer, but the appetizer we got was very good as well. We got the artichoke dip. My husband and I each got a half rack of ribs and a steak for dinner. The steaks were cooked perfectly; next time I will get mine rare instead of medium rare because it definitely tasted better on the rare side. My husband wanted a glass of wine and the server couldn't tell us what the difference was between the two different Merlot's on the menu, so we had to Google them. With our steaks, hubby got fries and French onion soup, and I got a wedge salad and mashed potatoes with no gravy. I don't love French onion soup but hubby said it was delicious, and the wedge salad and mashed potatoes were each a 10 out of 10. Ribs were fall off the bone which was awesome, but would have preferred a little more sauce on them. I think we would probably come back in the future, and maybe try a different entrée, or a steak with something different. read more

NOTE WORTHY: The service is consistently 5 star review worthy. I've been coming here for years. But this last experience... I completely understand how hard it is to find quality employees. The options are to accept what is available and try to train the less that acceptable employee or, let them destroy the restaurants reputation. Which brings me to my recent experience. Waiter asks "what would you like?" I request a Caprese Salad. Waiter says "a what?" I repeat the request and he asks "is it on the menu?" I show him his menu. He then announces he will be back later to see if I want anything else. Oh, Ok I'll order my main course when you are ready. I order my salad and steak. My steak arrives, no salad. Then the salad arrives, waiter says, sorry, the printer broke. WTF? Did you 3D print it? A decision needed to be made, eat the salad I so desperately wanted, or enjoy the steak while it is still hot. Sadly, the salad didn't make the cut. I enjoyed my steak. It was delicious. Back to the service... This waiter walked by my table at least 8 times never once removing my finished plates. Finally, a gentleman, probably a manager, cleared my table of the appetizer and dinner plates. I'm sure the young man shows potential, but for the love of god... make him shadow ANY of your other service personnel before you turn him loose on the public. read more

This is one of my favorite places in Reno to enjoy a nice steak dinner. I've been going here for the last 10 plus years. It's hard for me to give them a 5 star because 6 visits out of 10 there's something wrong with my steak...my steak is overcooked and I don't get to enjoy my meal with my family, I'm always waiting for my food. They trim all the fat around my rib eye steak and it ends up looking like a New York cut. Leave my streak alone! The reason I enjoy a rib eye it's because of all the fatty marbled goodness. They do end up making me happy and finding an untrimmed cut for me but just waiting on this is unfair especially when I tell the server when they're taking my order "don't trim my steak, make sure it looks like a rib eye". The management team does strive to make things right that is why my previous review was a 5. Another reason I can't give them a 5 is the cold mug inconsistency. It's an on going problem. I love me a big ice cold frosty mug bubbling with beer with my steak. I can understand near closing time they may run out but yesterday I went in around 5, that's pretty much close to opening time. The first thing I ordered was a big frosty mug of Stella. My server "Little John" comes back with a little warm glass of Stella. I told him "I ordered a big mug". He apologized and left, he then came back with the same little glass telling me that they only had the small glasses but as I looked around I kept seeing those big mugs walk by in serving trays. As a matter of fact, I was there for about an hour and 1/2 and kept seeing them that whole time. When I walked out I spotted 5 in different tables. It just makes me question the integrity of the employees just a little bit. I'd hate to walk into a restaurant I love and ask for a manager before I sit down to ensure good service but I just may have to. I have to say from someone who was in the restaurant for a long time. It tasted fabulous. Party is cooked right and feel like it's made fresh and not frozen. This place reminds me of a typical franchised steakhouse. They have a variety of appetizers including calamari. The calamari was was a little greasy but it was edible. The steak I ordered was cooked perfect but it was nothing too special. The ribs were a little dry but the sauce it was covered it saved the day. The fried backed potato was fully loaded and interesting. Though my expectations weren't too high this place it was ok. The parking at this location was a little crowded but after waiting a few minutes a spot did open up. The wait was also quick and service was fast. Last night was our first time eating here and now we are left wondering why it took so long. I realize that we usually went to Outhouse for convenience and distance living out in Wingfield Springs. After yet another horrible experience at their location out here in Sparks, we finally decided that for my mother's birthday we were going to try something different. We were not at all disappointed! First of all, we were able to use call ahead seating which means we basically had a reservation for 7 o'clock and when we walked in the door we were seated within a few minutes of arriving. Our usual experience at the other place is using their useless online check in and then still having to wait 35 minutes to 45 minutes for a table. The place wasn't loud but not dead either. We weren't shoved into a tiny booth and all fit comfortably. The lightning is relaxed but unlike the other review that gives a fine dining feel, not a dirty one. The place was immaculate and while they had peanuts at the door, there wasn't even a skin on the floor. We were greeted immediately by our waiter Justin, also known as Va Meow Ee on his temporary nametag. :) We got our drinks really quickly and placed our order in just as much time. Every time we have been to Outback in the last several years, there has always been a problem with our food. They can never properly cook a steak and it's either overcooked or raw and the second to last time they killed a perfectly good salmon. We also got completely free meals the last two times but free isn't worth it. My daughter refused to order steak because "they always mess it up". So here we ordered, two Steak Oscars for me and my mom (the 77 year old birthday girl), a 16 Oz New York Strip and the kids kabob all cooked to medium. It was so nice to get steaks that were actually cooked correctly and the quality of the meat was miles better than Outback. There was really no comparison. Our steaks were tender, flavorful and cooked to perfection. Our daughter ate all of hers and more of dad's too. She never eats that much steak! We all joked that we had our very first steak comas! I had taken a picture of our last Outback steak disaster and our steaks here. Side by side, it was no contest. Further, Justin was so attentive, checking on us regularly but not too much to be annoying, very friendly and patient with my mom who is full of stories. The manager, Todd Nesler even came over to check on us and then it was time for the giant hat and my mom's free birthday dessert. I'm told they don't always sing but Justin is fun like that so he sang to my mom and the table behind us joined in. There was very little to even bring home despite the copious amounts of food thanks to our happy 10 year old. My only critique is the sauce, crab and asparagus isn't quite as to my taste as Western Village (our other go to) but they even beat them in quality cuts and chefs who KNOW how to cook a steak properly. Next time we will probably go for the smaller New York like the hubby did and there WILL be a next time. Finally, our check came and when I looked at it, it was pure shock. Not because it was so much but because it was not. I was certain there had to be a mistake because we routinely paid $20 more at Outhouse and $40 more at Western. The kids steak kabob is just $5.99 and the 16oz NY was the same price as a 6 Oz at Outhouse. Our bill for four people was $88 before tax and we had enough food to feed double that. Thank you guys for making steak great for us again and for everyone else, if you haven't been here...GO! Stop settling for second rate meat at higher prices! And thank you guys for making up for the years of our insanity expecting better from Outback. We should have tried you sooner. Ruby, is hitting the biggest little city with all the cow boy boots I ever wanted to see! Everyone is so dang friendly, my child was a bit angry he needed to be breastfeed. Today was Mother's Day so we thought it would be good to be early and get a good meal. We were there early to avoid the crowd, before 5. The server was not the best and took time to take our order. When it came time deliver the order, it was wrong. The food was cold, the answer from the people coming to the table was disappointing. They said that it was not their fault. The one order that should have been delivered was not. All other orders are delivered well before this last and what should have been most important. The server cared less about it and did not try to get the order to the table. We got the attention of another server to get the last order to our table which still took too much time. By the time the last meal was delivered to the table, everyone was finished. The last meal Delivered was our Mom's plate. So, when asked about how the meal was, we answered that it was not okay. The server went about his day as if nothing was wrong. When the server asked if we wanted dessert, he wa asked, "Why do we want dessert when you cannot give us our meal as ordered or in time." He walked away. When he returned with the check, he dropped It on the table and walked away. We asked for a manager whom showed up A bit later. He offered a coupon for a later visit. Why would anyone come back to restaurant that allows their staff to be rude and incompetent? They offered drinks and sourdough bread with butter which was good. My son had a cheese burger with bacon, the patty was flavorless and the bacon tasted old. My other son has chicken Alfredo, not good at all, processed chicken pieces not chicken breast like the menu stated. The little kids had Alfredo pasta which neither ate, it wasn't good. I tried it. Myself and my dad had French onion soup that had a bit of a dirt taste. My dad liked his steak. Came here for dinner with friends during vacation and the wait seemed long but it wasn't too bad. We had a party of 5 for 45 min wait and by the time we got seated it was about 45 mins of waiting. The place gets pretty pack so be sure to come early or call to place yourself on a wait list. The place is like your typical Texas Road House or Cattleman's. Very spacious lots of seating and very warm. The service was very good our server was very attentive and helpful with recommendations. I made the mistake of choosing a sandwich at a steak house so my meal was okay but my fries were SO bomb!. Get the double batter fries you won't regret it. The sample platter was very good though for $15 you choose 3 items you want. We got the browning onion which was very good but quite greasy so after a while you may feel quite sick. The Jalapeño poppers and artichoke dip were SO delicious though you have to try them. All in all my friends enjoyed their dishes and I kinda enjoy my dish. I would come here again to try other dishes if I am in the area but I wouldn't go on a mission to come here. I may have ordered the wrong item so I won't be too critical since everything else here was delicious. So for an overall score I give a 3 since it's my first time here and food was pretty good.
