    Daisy drink, very good!
    Kaeleigh S.

Was super looking forward to this spot but left a bit disappointed. We were able to get a walk-in shared table (bless) and were sat in the middle room by the kitchen. It was super loud and hectic, but a table nonetheless. Our server seemed like he hated his job and had a bit of an attitude at us not knowing what we wanted immediately, especially when I explained my allergies and confirmed what I could safely eat. Like I get it's more energy for you to deal with but trust me, I wish I didn't have them either. Especially as a restaurant that kind of markets itself as a good option for dietary restrictions, you'd think you wouldn't be given so much ire for having them. He also was hard to track down and left halfway through our dinner without a word as shifts changed but then we had no idea who to flag down for anything. I ended up choosing the GF DF Cavatelli rather than ragu or pizza. It was so disappointing and plain. Barely any kind of oil or sauce on it. It was basically just plain pasta with steamed veg and chunks of dry sausage. Totally should have went with ragu or pizza. My friend who is also GF DF got the hot honey pie pizza and graciously shared some--it was delicious! Definitely go that route instead. The drinks were also good, I got the Daisy cocktail and it was delicious. My friend ordered a different one by accident and didn't like it, and the server did offer her the right one free of charge. He also forgot my other friend's wine and when she asked, he was super apologetic and brought it on him. So he was kind in those respects, maybe just tired at the end of a long shift? So some good stuff, some not so great. Still a nice spot and I'd probably give it another go; would more so recommend it to non allergy people.

Rubirosa is like a time capsule, taking you back to a previous decade with its laminated menus, warm interior, and cozy atmosphere. The main draw here is the pizza, and specifically the tie dye pizza. Their pizza is super thin, like almost a cracker, so be prepared that this isn't your doughy Neapolitan style. I liked it, and the smaller 14" was plenty to share along with another dish, but it also felt a bit overpriced. Guess that's the tax for when a restaurant gets popular. The antipasto salad was great, lots of delicious ingredients and tossed really well in a light zesty dressing that worked well to balance some of the heaviness from the cured meats. All in all a good meal at a slightly steeper touristy price, worth a visit for good Italian food and especially if you like thin crust.

Half tye die pizza, half honey pie

So nice when a place is worth the hype. Rubirosa has to be a NY goat at this point. Went for lunch - not too crowded, sat at the bar and everything I had was perfect: - Tie dye pizza - honey pie - ricotta ravioli (with cacio e Pepe sauce, per an employee's secret menu recommendation) The staff were also all great. 11/10 across the food and experience. This should be in everyone's NY regular rotation.

    A terrible birthday dinner
    Amy S.

I came here for my 30th birthday dinner with my husband and my sister. We got sat in the back room near the ovens. That room is a health hazard, and they should not be able to sit guests there. It was extremely hot. It had to be at least 85 degrees, probably hotter. Everyone who was sat in that room was drenched in sweat - I, for example, had sweat droplets dripping down my back the entire dinner. When they brought new customers to sit back there, several asked to be relocated. After we got our food, we asked for the check and wanted to leave immediately. It's a shame because we would've ordered more food and drinks. On our way out, we spoke to the manager who said it was always like that. Disgusting. I won't be back - which is a shame because the food is pretty good.

Rubirosa 235 Mulberry St. New York, NY 10012 Appearance: 10/10 Taste: 10/10 When I entered this Italian restaurant approximately 20 minutes after they opened, the dining area was already packed. I already knew I was going to be in for a treat. The cutlet was pounded thin. The mozzarella cheese was cooked to a perfectly golden color. The sauce was thick with just the right amount of sweetness; the sauce to CP ratio was spot on! The basil added a nice flavor to the entrée. This was on the costlier side, but it was well worth it. Due to the large amount of customers, the server was not as attentive. In the end, the plate was phenomenal and I'd still recommend trying this restaurant. Be sure to arrive early to avoid the crowd. #rubirosa #rubirosanyc #mulberryst #soho #chickenparmreview

    Nothing better than homemade pasta
    Stephanie K.

PINK is my favorite color (second to blue), but this one's a GEM! Down on Mulberry Street triangulated between The Museum of Ice Cream and Banksy's spot, there's a long bar for fast seating and intimate tables all the way back to a nook with views of the food prep area. Old World pizza, pasta, and garden fresh salad for modern palates. Servings are Nonna-sized generous enough for sharing (or carry-out, I saved mine for dinner too), and Fidel handled his section with kindness and high-end professionalism. A simple Arugula salad is dressed in a light lemon vinaigrette contrasted with shaved ricotta and bright grape tomatoes, balancing out a rich Carbonara piled high with delicate homemade fettuccine and lots of salty, crunchy speck. I spy a sweet & spicy Honey Pie - maybe next time! Definitely on the list for a return trip.

Had this on my New York list since moving here and glad I finally made the time to try it. Gotta say it was good but I'm not running back. Good service, homey/rustic place, and the pizza was good but overall it's just good. Classic thin crust and we got the tie-dye like everyone says too. eggplant parmigiana wasn't my favorite app but had to try. also the spritz was a little light on the Aperol in my opinion but could just be how they do it.

Yes, to the pizza yes to the cocktails yes, to their incredible marinara sauce that I just want to lick the plate after Thank goodness, they sell the sauce . This restaurant is in extremely popular either make a reservation or go at the off times like we did. We were able to get a table right away. It's cute. It's cozy. It's quaint. It's delicious. Go!

Out of all the amazing places in NY we went to eat during our last visits, this is the best one and that is really all you should know. But... I wouldn't be me if I didn't have a lot more to say, so here goes. I'm sure you can order whatever on their menu and it will feel like it was created in the heavens above. Their classic pizza is perfection. It was the pasta a la vodka though that absolutely blew us away last time around. When the super kind waiter came around to ask us if we were ready for desert we instead ordered a second portion of that. No regerts. Twice we went right before it opens and last time we got there at 10:50 and were first, but merely seconds later several folks already liked up behind us. We couldn't find a reservation so this was the way. So if you're reading this thinking this place might be overrated, it isn't and yes you should go.

I was in NYC earlier this month, and I was looking for any recommendations in any given neighborhood. I met two locals who told me that Rubirosa had to be on the list if I was looking for pizza. I came in with that recommendation, and I left completely full and satisfied knowing that I was given a great recommendation. I ordered garlic knots and a half Rubirosa supreme and half classic. The pizza all around was just phenomenal. I get that NY pizza is NY pizza, but oh my gosh. I loved this place. I got 8 slices of pizza, and I didn't think I'd eat it all in one sitting, but I did. According to my smart watch, I walked 17 miles on the day I came to Rubirosa. The pizza dough was fresh as could be and the tomato sauce was just another level. The place was a little cramped, but it's worth dealing with when the pizza is this damn great. The knots were just a great way to get started for an app, and that marinara sauce was genuinely next level. I want to shout out the staff because they were super attentive and helpful in getting me a recommendation. They gave me a quick rundown on the menu and what to expect, and they told me that I could get a half-and-half pizza. I had to thank the locals who gave me this recommendation, because it was completely worth it. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who was looking for good pizza.

    Vodka pasta was delicious
    Stuart C.

Rubirosa is a lively restaurant that is perfectly trendy but also has a nice balance of being upscale. The pasta with vodka sauce was delicious and was done well. The pizza was cracker thin and crunchy at the crust. You should know this ahead of time because if you're expecting a thicker crust you'll be disappointed as that's not the style here. However, I did not like the pesto in the trio pizza as it just wasn't that good. The vodka was delicious and so was the red sauce in the pizza.

Gf pizza half pepperoni and half tie dye
    Nicole B.

I've been to Rubirosa once before when I wasn't on a gf diet and the food was great then and now. On to the review: I'm not being dramatic when I say I haven't had a mozzarella stick in years, especially one with a cheese pull! The mozzarella was ooey gooey goodness, although I wish the breading used for it was slightly more seasoned. For the pizza, I opted for the classic half pepperoni and half tie die and it was so yummy. The crust was nice and crunchy and the sauce is so robust. I went during the middle of the week in the middle of the day and there was ample seating available. The hostess was very nice and offered me a gluten free menu immediately. The bartender was also very friendly and attentive, giving me recommendations on the best gf options. Since it was not a busy period, it was relatively quiet which was nice. I will definitely be back to try more.

Large 1/2 Tie Dye and 1/2 Honey Pie
    Sally A.

Best pizza I had on my trip. I made a weekend lunch reservation beforehand which I highly recommend. Service was great and despite being a full house, the wait was not bad. My table shared a large 1/2 Tie Dye and 1/2 Honey Pie pizza. I'd say the Tie Dye was our favorite. The pizza was sooo delicious and flavorful. The thin crust held up nicely with no flop. Will be dreaming of this pizza until my next visit!

    Ask the Community - Rubirosa

    Does the pesto have nuts?

Yes. All pestos have nuts unless otherwise stated

What type of pizza would you recommend?

    Tie dye!!

    Is it pet friendly?

No. I'm not even sure I'd bring kids there when it was busy, the seating is pretty tight, wooden chairs etc.

What is best way to make a reservation?

We did through Resy, and it was easy and efficient: https://resy.com/cities/ny/rubirosa?date=2023-03-20&seats=2… Read more

Does a cent do take out?

    I think they do.

Does anyone know if we can bring our own wine and pay a corking fee?

Hi Alex, Thank you for your question! Our current policy is you may bring a maximum of two 750ml bottles of wine for a corkage fee of $35/bottle.

Is it possible to order half portion here? I can never finish one American portion but I also don't want to waste food. Taking away is also not an option since I'm travelling.

Not that I'm aware of, but Rubirosa serves pizzas in two sizes...can always opt for the smaller one.

Does the pesto sauce on the tie-dye pizza have any nuts in it? If so, what nuts. Thanks!

    pine. lots of it

How does Rubirosa price pies that are half of one kind and half of another?

They'll charge you the cost of the more expensive half

Is there any meat in the vodka sauce?

I've had it a few times and as far as I can tell there is no meat. Don't skip out on this place as everything is incredibly delicious.

Could we have a picture of what the outdoor dining looks like?

I posted a photo in their Yelp page. I cant post a photo in this section sorry.

Do they sell by the slice during covid?

I tried getting a reservation 14 days in advance but it was a Sunday and wouldn't let me on the website or Resy app, by Monday morning at 5:30am it said it was sold out. Is this normal?

They are not open @5:30am I think they open around 10am but the place is very busy. Best time to go is during the week before 3pm

Do you need to make reservations?

Yes, definitely it's always packed here.

I know Corkage is 25 dollars but how many bottles per couple?

    Ahhh....1? 😂

Do they use a nut-free pesto?

They do put pines nuts in the pesto sauce

    Do they sell slices?

They do not but that's ok because you can get a smaller pie. It's still like 8 slices but it's smaller

What is the pizza hour?Any specials or special price?

4pm-5pm No specials or prices during that hour that I know of. You can possibly order by the slice in that hour but I'm 100 percent sure. It's pizza only 4pm-5pm.

Are they only known for pizza or pasta as well?

They're known for the pizza, but all of the food is amazing...salads, pastas, pizza...all fresh and phenomenal flavors!!

Do they have heart shaped pizza for valentine's day?

My gut tells me no but I would call the restaurant. You're getting one of the best pizzas in New York, the shape of it won't matter to your Valentine

Particularly the penne funghi is to die for. Tried the linguine vongole clam pasta for the first time and was pretty good as well! Just wish there was more sauce and the clams were the tiniest size I've seen which was disappointing and to make matters worse, a good 1/3 of them were empty. Besides that, the meal was delightful and still great value as it was delicious with huge portions! Love! However, service at this particular branch is nowhere near as good as other branches. I understand it's busy and it's always incredibly crowded with people and cramped seating and loud music/voices but this was like no other. When I arrived party of 2, they had nearly 5 tables empty and yet we couldn't sit at any of them because the had to wait for reservations to see if they arrived and we had to wait 15 min but they said they'd let us know. We were forced to sit at the bar which the giant metal can of alcohol bottles took up 1/2 my seating/dining area and no one bothered to move it or ask if that was okay because obviously it wasn't but the didn't care. We waited awhile for the food to come and during that time we asked if there really wasn't any table availability since tables clearly open and the denied again even though reservations never came. Literally 3 tables remains consistently empty throughout our entire dining experience confined to the cramped bar area. They even closed the door, separating the outdoor diners which was weird and it became insufferably hot inside, even on a cold windy day. Bathroom situation here is also terrible as it is downstairs with steep narrow stairs and me and other customers almost bumped into each other and staff carrying multitude of food dishes and dirty dishes up and down the stairs. Never have I ever had such an undelightful experience going to bathroom at a restaurant. Additionally, sink water pressure either had no water coming out or a giant spray of water making it impossible to wash hands without getting a whole shower. This location really needs work. Only reason why I'm not giving it five stars is because I love Fumo as a whole. Just skip this location.

Being Italian American, I'm hypercritical of spots like these - but nevertheless the positive reviews were overwhelming so I wanted to check it out for myself. One of my friends and I were looking to catch up, so I booked a table and off we went. While it can be tricky to get a reservation during prime dinner time, it's relatively easy to get a lunch reservation - or an early/late dinner. I managed to get a reservation for dinner at 9:15pm which was the earliest I could find. The restaurant is pretty unassuming on the outside - it looks like a converted brownstone and once inside we were greeted by a large space with a sceney vibe. The space is split between two levels with a large bar up front and a semi-open kitchen in the back. The decor was modern - with lots of greys and neutral tones which was a little unexpected. The main star of the menu is pasta, but they also have a few non-pasta mains as well as some crudo selections, apps, and sides. We decided to get a few apps, two pastas, and one side. To start, we went with the octopus, roasted mushrooms, burrata crostone, and focaccia. These were all really good, but my favorite was the mushrooms. I'm usually not a fan of mushrooms but these were prepared with red pepper and fried egg and were delicious; it cut through the earthiness and changed the texture to something I really enjoyed. The focaccia was also a standout - it's house made and was paired with a peppery oil that complemented the bread well. For mains we split two pastas - the caccio e pepe and the rigatoni. Both of these were very good, though I felt the rigatoni was the stronger dish. It was prepared with sausage ragu, soppressata, broccoli rabe pesto, and pecorino. The flavors worked really well together and the pasta was cooked al dente. The caccio e pepe was perfectly fine, I just feel it's been overplayed and didn't feel there was anything that stood out amongst the others I've tried. We also got a broccoli rabe as a side which was great. We couldn't leave without dessert and decided to get their olive oil cake and quattro formaggio cheesecake. The restaurant is known for the former - it was perfectly fine but I've had olive oil cakes elsewhere of the same or better quality. The cheesecake was the stronger dessert IMO - the combination of cheeses gave it an interesting, almost savory flavor. The brûlée top and mascerated strawberries were great texture and flavor complements. Service was great - the place was packed but service was consistently on point and everyone was friendly. Overall, I had a good experience at L'Artusi. While everything was very good, I'm struggling to find the exact reason why this place became such a hot spot compared to other Italian spots in the city. Nevertheless, you'll have a good meal here and I would definitely return if given the opportunity.

It was difficult getting a reservation for the time we wanted so I booked for 45 minutes later. We…read morearrived at our desired time, told the hostess we were early and immediately seated. Water and excellent bread arrived immediately and the waiter was helpful describing dishes and giving advice. Salads were fresh and crisp. Caesar was nicely dressed and the mixed salad was a nice combination with well balanced herb vinaigrette. Seafood dishes had large amounts of fresh seafood and the veal picatta had the lemony flavor you expect without excessive acidity. Dessert was tasty and innovative. The ricotta based cheese cake wasn't as smooth as the cream cheese form but the citrus flavor was great. Throughout the meal water and bread were refilled, plates from completed courses removed and next delivered without being overly hovering. All in all a really great meal.

This was my first time at this restaurant and the only reason I selected it was because it was…read moreclose to the theatre I was attending (literally across the street). I read the reviews mostly good so I was hoping for the best. My friends and I were not disappointed. The first thing I noticed was there were 7 people in my party and 4 arrived early and did not have to wait for my arrival to be seated. Second the waiter who took our order was polite and on point with specials and knowledge of the menu. He (just never caught his name) suggested the Rigatoni which chicken and sausage. I am not really a pasta eater but baby that dish could change that; it was DELICIOUS. I even liked the anchovy dressing on my Caesar Salad and I dislike anchovies. All the dishes ordered (chicken parm, mussels chicken paillard etc.) everyone enjoyed them immensely. The only negative was when the Chicken Paiikard arrived it was supposed to a shared dish by the elderly couple and they asked for regular dinner plates from one of the servers. It took the gentleman who took our order to step in and said sure, lucky their food was still hot. Common Sense is not so common for all. But this will not lower my rating as it was taken care of swiftly. The portions were the perfect size and I was not stuffed but pleasantly satified. We told them the time of our show, food was out quickly, nicely presented, still hot and very tasty. The restaurant was not noisy and had space between the tables. It also had an elevator for those who could not manage stairs. Trattoria Trecolori you will be added to my must go again list! Thank for a wonderful experience!
