Short review: I've had a few things here, including pizza, garlic knots, pasta and beef patties. Unfortunately, the only thing that I found to be good was the beef patties. The penne wasn't bad, but was standard. However, the pizza tasted like cardboard and the garlic knots are large and flavorless. Ordered via the Slice App. Order: Large Cheese Pie, Beef Patty with Cheese, Pepperoni Roll. This was my childhood staple pizzeria. It's truly sad to see how much it's declined, especially since the pandemic. The Cheese Pie was doughy and stale. Tasted like it had either been sitting around for days or they had premade this dough days ago and just had it laying around. The beef patty was also stale, lukewarm and not very good. I don't imagine it got cold that quickly during the delivery on a 91 degree day. The Pepperoni Roll, hard to even call it that given the lack of pepperoni, had a generous helping of cheese, however that cheese was not very melted and the dough felt undercooked. It's time to finally say goodbye to my childhood pizzeria. All good things must come to an end and Royal Kings is no exception. Manager / owner appeared overwhelmed with life, not enjoying his job and burden with working. I ordered a salad with grilled chicken that only had 3 ingredients, olives, lettuce tomatoes and onions. It took 20 min and his response was that " the chicken is made fresh " the chicken was not!!!! It was thin frozen and microwaved. I'm a chef and I know good food. Best pizzeria. I've been a client for many years. The taco pizza is amazing and they make better pasta than most restaurants--the chicken parm with spaghetti is my favorite. I'm not so crazy about the pizza here. I find there pies are somewhat on the dry side from sauce and the Dough is too thick. Royal Kings offers a free two liter soda bottle with the purchase of a large pie. However, when I've purchased 2 large pies, they refuse to give me 2 bottle of soda. I guess I'll have one pie delivered to me and the other pie delivers to my brother downstairs so that I'll be able to take advantage of this promo. Ah! I really don't get the bad reviews on this place. I've been ordering from here via grub hub + in person for the last 10 months of working around this area. Everyone that works there is extremely friendly and welcoming; every single time. I've ordered from salads to pasta from this place...and everything has been delicious so far. Food is made promptly, and prices are reasonable. The majority of the complaints here sound unreasonable because this is not a formal restaurant; it's a pizzeria!! You cannot expect table service at a pizzeria...unless it's probably really high end. And yes, you pay then get your food...like most places. Not sure if the great reviews for this place are by the employees themselves or by people clearly on drugs. This is by far the worst pizzeria i've been to. Common sense and simple business etiquette has gone out the door at this place. A simple "Hi welcome to Kings Pizza" or anything similar seems like rocket science. They have you deliberately get up to get every food item you ordered separately, instead of just bringing it to you, or calling you when it's all ready. You have to ask them for ketchup or napkins I mean c'mon!!! They have the audacity to charge my husband (who wasn't even present when I ordered) before we began eating... I was planning on ordering sweets to go (I clearly didn't). Their food tasted bland, baked ziti was dry and tasteless, mozzarella sticks seemed old and hard... etc. And when I thought it couldn't get any worse, these idiots open the door making the place pretty much feeling at freezing point, forcing us to go quickly. The layout of the place looks like something out of the fifties, or perhaps the eighties. I grew up around the corner on 52nd street so this review might be a little biased but even today this is my 'go to' pizza place. The taste of this place always brings me back to my childhood and while a big pizza place now, this started as a hole in the wall only big enough for three tables (and one was literally against the back of the oven). The owner is a class act and looks like he stepped out of central casting for a pizza man. (short bald, now old, Italian guy with a thick accent.) The pizza is high quality and there specialty pizzas rock. The customer service can't be beat and its always been a taste of comfort food when i eat here. If it sounds like I have an emotional attachment to this place its because i do. Times were tough back in the 80s in my neighborhood so you appreciated the bits of joy when you could find them. Had to call them three times, once because they hung up on me, second time because I asked for the price difference of a medium and a large on my order and they never answered me and said "Okay" and hung up and again the third time to get the price and place my order with the correct size. Can't imagine what they would've given me had I not had given them the size I wanted. Also called back the third time to confirm that I wanted buffalo chicken pizza, repeating it multiple times only to have it arrive at my door an hour later with just breaded chicken. Pizza looked good but with the hell I went through, lost my appetite and asked for my money back. When I called they offered no apologies, said "There's nothing I can do" until I showed my anger and got passed around to three different guys, having to repeat my situation again and again. They didn't even listen to my order, another reason I went to the trouble of calling again and again. I love the meat ball parmigiana; they serve more then enough cheese, and the chicken rolls, served with a side of sauce. The dinner plates are a good portion. Definitely a hit or miss with the place. When it's good it's great, when it's bad it's bad. Ordered a pie and it took over an hour and a half, to make things worse the pie arrived cold. I called the pizzeria and the manager said he wouldn't give me a credit, if I wanted another pie I'd have to wait another 45 minutes, he couldn't guarantee the new pie would arrive hot.
