She told me I could not receive a gift card and that the only option was a return, which would send the money back to the original purchaser. Another employee, who was helping a different customer, stepped in and correctly explained that I was able to receive a gift card since I had the gift receipt. Despite this, Jaylene said no and insisted it wasn't possible. She was very rude throughout the interaction and spoke as if she knew more than everyone else, even though she was incorrect about a basic store policy. She eventually did process the gift card. I asked her again and she said they don't give receipts when it's a cash transaction I immediately knew that was illegal and upon researching I came across The BPC § 21666 outlines the requirement for vendors to provide written receipts for purchases exceeding $15.
