Really happy with my experience here. Tons of inventory and different sections. Actual military surplus and uniform items (web belts, patched, medals, boot bands, BDU trousers, undershirts) not just a bunch of new construction worker supplies like other stores. Items were sorted and organized very well in the store by type, size and color. It was very easy to find what I was looking for and there was a lot of available staff to help. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable too. Some surplus stores I've been to, they seem disgruntled or just too busy to help. I was scheduled to attend a ceremony for my son's Marine Corps JROTC class and I needed a pair of jungle boots to complete my uniform. My online order was delayed and I was under the gun. I found Doughboys online and they had boots in stock, so I drove up to Bellflower. It was your typical surplus store, no surprises--clean and cool. I was greeted when I entered. I looked around and found a surprisingly large selection of exactly what I needed. The associate working checked on me to make sure everything was good. I went to this store to return these carhartt overalls. The owner Mark stated they were worn. I told him, sir I've never wore these pants. I was fine with him not accepting the overalls, but his tone and comments were very rude. I told him I've spent $300 here and you're going to be rude to me because I want to return these overalls. He called me a fake and told me good luck sale if them then walk away. Caution shopping here the owner Mark is rude and disrespectful to his customers. In other reviews they stated he was a racist. I wish I would have known this before spending my money. Mark I hope you loose your business and live the rest of your life unhappy, it's clear Dicks and all the other surplus stores is making it hard for store to stay afloat. Well, I came to buy some camouflage pants for my son. They're having some kind of theme at the football game and we came to buy some and we thought the price was lower than what we got charged at the checkstand and unfortunately it did not have a tag on the pants, but I came back the next day and the owner was Very nice very professional and he confirmed the regular price for the item, but he was willing to refund me some money and I told him no, I don't want the money. He said go ahead and grab something from the store and I ended up with 4 pro club shirts. This man really knows about good customer service. I'm not sure what other people have experienced, but I had a great experience, even though it was a minor misunderstanding due to the fact that the item was not properly priced on the tag and he certainly made up for it. Doughboys Surplus is a small business that has been around this neighborhood for years. I overheard the guy at the front saying that it has been open for 73 years. They have plenty of parking on the side of the building as well as parking in the front. I stopped by to look at their camping/hiking section since I needed a few items emergency items. This place is not cheap in price, but their decently priced, and it beats the hassle of going to a bigger store. You are also supporting a small business by shopping here. I purchased emergency kits, an emergency whistle, a couple of hand-warmers, ponchos, and emergency blankets. All the essential outdoor items that are needed when you're out hiking. Doughboys also has a good selection of shoes for work, casual shoes, TUK shoes and military boots. They had jackets, thermals, overalls, pants, socks, long sleeves, and short sleeves available for men that work outside in the elements. They had the pro club brand and a huge selection of the Carhart brand which included beanies, jackets, and even backpacks were available. read more

This store sold a pair of "water resistant boots" that had my socks soaked with water during this past storm. I went, with receipt, to return and received the rudest, worst example of customer service I have encountered in very long time. They wouldn't even consider that the boots could be poorly made. He actually sprinkled water on the boots as if that simulated a rainstorm...HA! Don't shop here!!! read more

On Super Bowl Sunday I went to get some steel toe boots. I already know my size and which brand I wanted to I asked one of the guys to get me the boots but make sure they were steel toe. I was relying on them to bring me the right pair since I had to go to an appointment with my mom and then catch some of the game. I didn't bother to look since the guy assured me they were steel toe. Come Monday morning at work I realize they were not steel toe and took them off right away and put a old pair I had in my truck so I wouldn't dirty them. I work in the high desert so I couldn't go back until the weekend to ask for an exchange. The old geezer on the counter said I was trying to pull a fast one on him and to get the f out and that he's not stupid. I told him I wasn't trying to argue with him and just wanted a even exchange. He made it seem as if the boots were damaged which they were not and pretty much insulted myself and my integrity. I am a hard working union worker and I usually don't like to leave bad reviews on small businesses but what's right is right! The old fool was a total jerk off and could've worked with me instead of right off the bat attacking me. If you're a union worker skip this place and go to Boot Barn or anywhere else but here. We work too hard to put up with old senile simpletons. I could've been a jerk back and I know it's partly my fault for relying on incompetent people. But to put the total blame on me is asinine. We had gone online to see what they had and online you posted the jacket is $47.98 when we pulled the jacket and went to checkout pricing was $59.98. I have military clothing and gear i need to unload. Why is it so hard to see Mark? I stopped by a few times on my way home from work after being told he came in at noon and would be there. EVERY time i walked in, he wasn't expected back for at least an hour. Today i called around 12:30 and actually spoke to Mark. Told him i would be there around 3pm-3:15 depending on traffic. I love military surplus stores and Doughboys is no exception. Like Jennifer L. mentioned, they have a great selection of clothing for big and tall men. They also have a pretty good girl's Dickies collection. I love the military messenger bags. I love all the molle gear. I use the first aid kit bags for make-up bags. I got my awesome forest camouflage thermal shirt here. All that forest camouflage makes my heart sing - I don't know why they ever came up with that inferior desert camouflage color scheme. read more

Always bought my work wear and boots here, til recently I found out about "union plus" app that gives union members discounts. Presented the 10% discount to old guy at register and he immediately seemed bothered, I'm not a mathematician but 10% of $250 (thorogood boots) should've been $25 off, he ended up only giving me 5% off and d*ck head vibes.I wasn't gonna argue about it, $25 ain't nothing but why would doughboys surplus participate in union plus discounts to only be bothered and half ass. read more

Review is for used military items only. Really over priced on their used military jackets and shirts. A M 65 jacket was priced over $100 but I've seen the exact same jacket at other stores for under $40. The shirts are not priced, it depends on their patches and condition and you need to check with an employee - this just seems like a bad idea that nothing is actually marked. If your in a bind and needing something ASAP I guess this place is ok but you are better off trying to hunt it down at another store. read more

I remember making a purchase of a jumpsuit last year, and oh my goodness. Worst.mistake.ever. Not only does this place have the most over priced items, but a very rude manager. I went to return my item at this store, because it did not fit my father (It had all the original tags). The manager himself approved and checked my jumpsuit and issued me my refund. As I checked my bank statements, I noticed I was never refunded. I called the store and tried to solve this issue. The manager himself had picked up the call and began to insult and yell at me. Mark began to say that I was a scum bag and continuously insulted me. I kept telling him that he processed my refund, so it made no sense for him to reverse the refund and "steal" my money: because he still had my suit. I said I will be reporting him to the BBB, and he replied back, "Go ahead, call from your cellphone and house phone." Unfortunatley I went through my bank and BBB to help me solve this issue, but he was able to lie and get away with it, so I never got the suit or money back. He was basically saying "The line was too long that day and he didn't check properly" Yah, right. There was no line and he actually overchecked the suit, as if he thought I was lying! What a joke! After a year of agonizing stress and back-to-back filing paperwork and arguing-- I still have not went back to his store to pick up my item, because I feel threatened to go back. Since he was so desperate for the $60, I might as well give it to them. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND SHOP ELSEWHERE. If you do shop here, know you will not be able to get a refund. They will make it impossible to do so, as you can see in the comments here on yelp. Overall, it was a very bad experience at this store; not customer valued at all. read more

It hasn't really been much of a military surplus store in years, mainly dedicated to selling Dickies pants and Wolverine and Harley Davidson boots, with a relatively small camping supplies section these days. You might find old uniforms for sale, as well as things like patches and hats, but yeah, it's mostly men's work apparel, school uniforms, and a selection of shirts for teenage girls (When I was in middle school this was THE place to get those web belts with single initials on the buckle). The people here are nice, but if you're specifically in the market for products from Dickies, Wolverine, Harley Davidson, or Carhartt and are looking for more military surplus consider places like All American Military Surplus in Fullerton. read more

LOVE this place. It's listed as a 'men's clothing' store but there's something for everyone in there. Great last minute gift ideas for dads and boyfriends/hubby's. And who doesn't want to try an MRE?? The clerks are smart, friendly, and know their store very well. If you want to just have a conversation, they are ready. Now THAT's customer service! I never leave reviews but dam you can't even look around the store without all the employees breathing down your neck making sure you're not stealing. The store is cool they have a bunch of nice things but it's way too overpriced.
