I came back to see if there are changes to the quality of food from the last time that i have eaten at this place and that was probably about 8 years ago and I have been reminded as to why I stopped coming. I came on a weekend to meet up with some friends. They still have the sushi, dimsum, seafood which consists of fish (cooked in different ways), salt and peppered shrimp, shellfish (cooked in different ways) and a dessert station. They offered oysters in the half shell which I tried one and just pushed aside the remaining oysters in my plate. It tasted like I am gonna be sick if I indulged in it. The sashimi was being served very sparingly especially the salmon which is also sub par. Food is not really worth the $37 (a person). I was hoping that the quality of food improved but to no avail... it was disappointing. On the bright side, they do make an awesome cocktail! Buffet is awesome, they have a large variety of food varying from fried food to sea food. Would say it is more worth it if you are a big seafood fan just bc everything else is pretty average and you are paying around $40 per person for the dinner price. Food is great however they do really expect a tip. Not sure if this is normal of buffets but most times they will wait around to ensure you tip or even question the amount by staring at it for a long time in front of you. It was just okay. For the price that we paid me and my boyfriend $90 is just not that worth it. The host for one didn't really tell us to follow him he asked "how many" and then walked towards the tables so we just followed him but we were confused lol. The food itself was okay, flavor was meh nothing to die for. Normally we have our to die fors at buffets. There was a lot of people as we did go on a sunday maybe they were just rushing to get food out? I don't know. I wouldn't go back just because the price was too much for bland flavored food. Have gone there a few times, the food is not bad, the place is relatively clean. Unfortunately the customer service is horrible for a very little service that the waiters and waitresses provide for the customers ( removing few used dishes and possibly refilling a cup of water or two) the expect to receive %15 of the total bill as a tip and they pretty much demand that amount. I wish the management provide an area so people can drop their use dishes there, and also a station to get their own drinks. We go there to have fun, not to be bullied by waiters or waitresses. I am unsure if you could find a better deal for $15 as I could be loading up on the sushi and seafood. I like the raw clams and haven't gotten sick so far! Where do I start?? The selection of the food is out of this world. Being Chinese, I love they have dim sum, tripe, chicken feet, pig feet and pig ears (please don't eewww me unless you've tried them and really don't like them). There is a Mongolian beef station which is outstanding. The different variety of sushi and rolls will make any sushi lover thinks they've died and gone to sushi heaven. I particularly enjoyed different seafood they offer. Everything I had was really delicious. The staff were very friendly and food dishes were quickly refilled as they're running low. They closed their doors during Covid but reopened after over a year I think. Same atmosphere. Still a lot of food but were not as good as it was before. The shrimps tasted like they still frozen when cooked. Sushi's were stale (dried up and hard). There were still a lot of other dishes that were good but the ones we really like were not. Used to like coming here. Went with my older parents (we are Latino) on a weekday during lunch and the server only came back to our table once at the end and it wasn't a good interaction. I have been wanting to try this place for a long time. Finally stopped by right at 11am when they open. I was excited by the items shown on their menu. The larger shrimp was hard to peel and was not deveined. There were only two types of Sashimi to chose from and only about 8 pieces each that got quickly. I waiting for the gentlemen infront of me to ask for more of the tuna. The chef cut some and the man took all the pieces so I asked for a couple pieces and was given a hand gesture to hold my horses. Go on a weekday for lunch. With tax and tip (no soda extra charge) it was $17pp. At dinner expect to pay double that. But $17 at lunch time this buffet by far is the best bang for your buck. They offer Mongolian style grill (select meat and veggies and sauce and they will stir fry for you), a cold salad bar, a huge sushi Maki roll selection (very little sashimi selection), dim sum, soup, seafood entrees and desserts. We got sick from the food there. I suspect the sushi was not fresh as I ate some tuna that started to brown underneath. I also tried the dim sum and the sticky rice it had something in it like egg shells or bone so I spat it out. The dumplings were also overdone as they had been over steamed. Our bill was over $100. Shortly afterwards I threw up and my partner had lbm. We won't be going there anymore due to this experience. I am thinking they need to pay attention to quality control better vs. quantity. This was my first time here, a friend of mine recommended it. My husband and I got there around 6:00 . There was no wait but I read they take reservations especially on Lobster day which is Wed and Friday. The place is huge! There were a lot of people there when we got there too. I know... I know... buffets are not the best thing out there in terms of food quality. I understand that, but sometimes it just sooooo easy because it quick, easy, and you such a variety of food you can choose from. That's still the case here at Royal Buffet, but for what they lack in spectacular dishes they make up for with the quantity of actual good tasting food. Let's not kid ourselves. We all know what to expect from buffets. I'm not going to say that anything at Royal Buffet was the best thing I've ever ate, but I can say they do well with provided an abundance of good food, as in the food is actually fresh and has flavor. With that alone Royal Buffet beats out most of the buffets you can find. The best part of Royal Buffet however is the variety of food. Although it is an Asian inspired buffet, it still produces a great amount of assortment of food. For example, Royal has a hibachi section, a sushi section, dim sum section, a dessert section along with the huge amounts of different entrees in the regular buffet section. They also have a great amount seafood, and it is actually really good in comparison to other buffets. For example as per norm the sushi is a has more rice to in then fish, but the make up for it by having some sashimi. They are also have raw oysters, mussel, and shrimp available. To top that off they have lobster and crab nights several times a week (usually the lobster is a little over done and chewy, but hey it's lobster). So to evaluate Royal Buffet as a whole, it's actually really good if you want to try a bunch of food you wouldn't regularly buy. Also if you what to binge without a spending a ton of money or you don't know what you feel like eating, Royal Buffet is a place for you. I really like the dim sum and sushi, my husband is a big fan for seafood and he's very happy with the fresh sashimi options. My favorite section would be the Mongolian grill bar, where you can choose anything you like from different types of meat to veggies, noodles and sauces, and they will cook it for you. My secret recipe is the Mongolian sauce and a little bit of garlic. Freshly cooked with plenty of flavors! We were so full at the end, or else we would definitely go for another round of Mongolian grill! The price is reasonable, considering how much the inflation is on everything we buy now. Lunch is cheaper than dinner. Everything from a large sushi bar section, to cold raw seafood, soups, vegetables, meats, dim sum, the usual Chinese buffet dishes, great cooked seafood and a decent amount of fruits and desserts. They had a lot of food and plenty of variety, from fresh to raw, to cooked foods. The seafood, however, was the worst I'd ever had. The sushi was unremarkable. The cooked seafood were stale in flavor and taste. Other cooked meats also came up short. Kids liked the staples (pan fried noodles and rice), while the adults tried to make the best of the situation and value by eating as much soft shell crab as possible. Attended Sunday brunch here with family. Everyone definately had enough to eat. When I went up to the buffet for crab legs there was no line and I got two nice clusters, delicious! I must have gotten there at just the right time as later there was a line. From looking at what other tables were eating, the crab legs and peel-n-eat shrimp appeared to be favorites. There was a good selection of freshly made sushi, it was just OK, the rolls were loose and there was a lot of rice. I had a variety of the hot foods, everything was good.
