Our friends ranted about how good this place is, so we went to check it out. There is so much food here! The variety is vast - amazing! The sashimi seemed to get taken - and refilled - really fast. It seemed like most people were willing to wait for the crab legs to come out. We were not disappointed. My husband loved this place because he said all his needs had been met there. The reason I took one star off is because I'd like to encourage the people who prepare the dim sum to aim a little higher. As the years have passed this buffet has gotten worse and worse. Food quality has gone down and it all lacks flavor. The place is also just grimy. The seats feel sticker and even the places you get still have food particulates on them. The staff are kinda the worse. They are just there to babysit. So they are just peaking here and there. WOW! And incredible selection! So much to choose from- Hibachi style or Buffett style. Ample sushi to choose, rolled on premise. Dining room is large and there is also a Mongolian plate for you to have the chef cook for you while you wait! Very nice! Service was average. Drinks are an extra charge. Go hungry, leave full. I'm here for the variety of seafood offered. Snow crab was okay, the rice for the nigiri was not very good. Dumplings were meh. The sticky rice and red bean paste zongi and the lotus wrapped sticky rice with mushrooms were both tasty. BBQ bun was fresh. The clams were good, abalone was tough. The flounder was not to my taste but not bad. The croaker seemed dry this time. Usually it's what shines here. Roast duck was excellent and the kalbi were dry but flavorful. I try and get at least some lychees every time I'm here. They are consistently good. Service was excellent and it's the same decor as it's always been for years and years. The bathroom stalls badly needs remodeling. We come here rarely and a lot has to do with my husband doesn't find much here he will or can eat. read more

My wife and I have been dining at Royal Buffet since 2018 and even celebrated our 10th year Anniversary there with my co-workers, friends, and relatives. I just noticed this year 2026, every time we'd go there for lunch only the head of the Pike fish is left and when I asked one of the staff standing in front of the buffet to replenish the Pike, she said, "no speaking English". This happened in several occasions. The quality and service had gone south. My wife and I are now going to Yu's Mandarin where red snapper, pike, and flounder are available upon request. So after reading all of the yelp reviews and google reviews and website reviews, my sister and I still decided to try this place because lived in Schaumburg over 6 plus years and never had. So you walk in and it's beautiful, they have a pool fountain thing where you can throw coins in and make a wish, toy gaming machine and a basketball hoop. By the way we came for lunch and they seat you right away! The place is huge! Once they seat you, they practically let you fend for yourself unless you want a drink or need a utensil or something like that. Anyway wait staff was pretty attentive so no complaints there, they come by frequently to see if you need anything or grab any plates off the table etc. on to the food, they had a big variety of food choices from clams, mussels, soft crab, sushi, all types of shrimp, fried rice, noodles, a hibachi grill and fruits and desserts... it's something for everyone I swear. However my problem is that we got there right when they opened at 11am and they had the food out and you can physically see steam coming from the countertops where the foods where placed! Every single item of food was COLD!! Except for the noodles they held heat but how is rice cold? Shrimp cold? Grilled fish cold? Ribs cold? Fried chicken cold? Pizza cold? Corn cold? Everything was COLD from the the you took if off the buffet and put it on your plate! I would think I was lying but I was there! I read the reviews that complained of the same thing and it's TRUE! How do you expect the public to eat cold food? It would have been a better experience if the food was hot! How are you a buffet serving cold food? This is probably one of the best buffet around town. It's a bit pricey but it's worth if you are a fan of seafood and lots of other goodies at their hot bar! The services are friendly and attentive. Will fill up your drinks if it's getting low. That's a plus! Read some reviews regarding about the price. Comparing to decade ago, there's something call inflation?! Lol tbh, if you go eat elsewhere, $35-60 a drink, appetizer, entree, and dessert. Will probably cost more than the price of Royal Buffet. Love reading the negatives! Just crack me up! If you love seafood I would come here before I go to Umi, Umi was very disappointing

It's been 13.5 years since we were last here, but this massive Asian buffet is still going strong. They must be doing something right, and it looks that they've gone to more premium seafood offerings amongst a huge selection of other more standard Asian and American offerings but raised the price accordingly and enough customers are willing to pay up. We're now also able to save $2 for their dinner price as we are age 65+ and so it was $36.5 pp for us instead of $38.5 pp. I'll go with an ok 3 star rating given the overall product quality here for the price. The place is massive and the guests all naturally tend to be folks who like to consume a lot. That's not normally us but we only came because another extended family member suggested it for some out of town visiting family and so we went with it. I would (and did) stick to the more premium seafood to get your money's worth - fish filets, crab legs, oysters, clams, shrimp, mussels, but also other nice products like roast duck and teriyaki steak. They have tons of other stuff - sushi, a Mongolian stir fry, dim sum, steaks, ribs, various beef dishes, various chicken dishes, various rices and noodles, etc etc. You're not going to get a lot of piping hot offerings unless you get lucky with the timing of crab legs, or steak, or duck and catch them as they come out of the kitchen. Otherwise, the products will naturally be lukewarm as they are sitting out on the buffet tables. Arriving at 5:30pm and soon after their 5pm evening opening time, all of the selections were plentiful and fresh, so it was a quite decent buffet for us. I've been to this restaurant a few times before, and this was by far the worst service I've received here. A server named Anny (or something close to that) was incredibly rude, dismissive, and openly condescending from the start. We asked a simple question about what drinks were included, and instead of answering like a normal server, she responded with "Drinks are drinks." That kind of attitude is unacceptable in any customer-facing job. It was lazy, disrespectful, and unnecessarily insulting. Only after I directly called out her response did she finally explain the drink options, and even then she did it with obvious irritation, like we were bothering her by asking a basic question. It got even worse when I went to the front desk to complain. Rather than apologizing or trying to fix the situation, she immediately became defensive and claimed, "I told you, you just didn't hear me." That was simply false. She did not properly explain anything until after I challenged her rude behavior. Then, instead of letting the issue go, she came back to our table looking angry and resentful, and gave us a completely insincere explanation. The worst part was her final comment: "You can say whatever you want. You already said it anyway." Then she walked away impatiently. That response alone tells you everything you need to know about her professionalism. This was not a misunderstanding. This was not "bad communication." This was a server with a nasty attitude who clearly does not know how to treat paying customers with basic respect. I've had normal service here before from other staff, so this stood out even more. One employee like this is enough to ruin the entire experience and make customers not want to come back. Management should take this seriously. I had a really bad experience at Royal Buffet. We were there for literally only about 2 minutes before deciding to leave because of the service. We got seated in a bad spot, and the waitress was already in a bad mood. She threw the straws onto the table instead of handing them to us and was rude right away. As far as buffets go this is one of the better ones. Great selection of food,mostly fish seafood and sushi but some traditional asian cuisine mixed in. Price is rather steep so don't go and then complain about the price, you should know what your walking into beforehand. Service is attentive. This is the first time I've been back since pandemic times and... it's lost some of its lustre. Everything is still there, but a little bit slower and a little less volume. A small group of us went on a Saturday night (surge pricing, I know, I know). We did the mongolian grill, the sushi, the crab legs and the usual Chinese buffet standbys. The staff is hard-working, but there was just... less of them. One person on the grill? Two on sushi? The crab leg lady is moving steaming trays? I guess it's all about efficiency, but everything is taking longer and food doesn't seem to be turning over. And it was barely 8p and then it suddenly felt like it was closing down. My in-laws wanted to go Royal Buffet to celebrate their wedding anniversary. The look of this restaurant is very elegant. When you enter the huge lobby there is a giant fountain that was out of service for renovation when we visited. I was amazed at the enormity of the food choices. There was an entire portion just dedicated to sushi. There were areas for hibachi, Americanized Chinese, crepes, dessert, and much more. I could only scratch the surface of their offerings before I was too full to continue. The sushi was phenomenal. The sesame chicken, pepper steak were great. The shrimp was soft and overcooked. The dessert was not very sweet, but the Hershey's ice cream made up for that. Overall, Royal Buffet is a good choice to get a wide variety of food. Even though I feel that buffets are outdated in our generation, this place is a great bang for your buck. If you want a large variety for a cheap price, you've come to the right spot! The interior is huge so you'll never have to wait for a table either. Great for large groups. Pretty clean overall too. Quality of the food isn't amazing but good for a buffet. We have been coming to Royal Buffet for many years to count. Tonight me and husband.dinef and disappointing as it has been before when u need to fall in line waiting for them to prepare the lobster tail/crab legs. Added to that tonight we witnessed how discriminating it was to be given 4 pcs total of lobster tail & claws and/or 2 cluster crab legs WHILE a lady who speaks the same language as the server (she's been the server in that station all the time) was given a plate full of the same!!!.and whenever u go back to get another serving this server looks at you w/ her sharp eyes like she isnt happy to see you again!!!also, I was filling up a to-go container & this same lady was in front of me watching as I fill up the container...this was not the 1st time we have noticed this server giving favor to others & we find it discriminating. I call on the management to take action on this matter..I also remember another visit there was a man in line for crab legs & lobster tail & he asked this server if she can add some more for his wife who was at their table watching the baby ..guess what she didnt budget & said "one only".... I haven't been here for years. It used to be my favorite place for Chinese buffet. It has gone down hills. This place has seen its glory type of vibe. Everything is bland and not fresh. The service was very bad. The waitstaff was rude to walk us to our table. They also gave us a check midway through our meal while we're still eating. I understand that it's a weekday, but it was only 7:35pm. They close at 9pm. We've never felt this unwelcome at a restaurant until now. Don't come here. It's not worth it. We've spent close to $120 plus tips. We'll definitely get better service and food elsewhere. read more

Went in for lunch, got there at 130 pm. made my first trip and grabbed 4 chicken wings of the 6 in the tray, and the last 4 of the BBQ ribs along with some french fries and orange chicken. the wings were big and good, and the ribs were tasty and tender. fries were ice cold even though there was a full tray. went back up to grab some more wings and ribs. took the last 2 wings but rib tray was empty. grabbed some friend shrimp and calamari. while eating these and now 2 pm, the staff starts cleaning up. i asked for more wings and ribs, they said something, but i didn't understand them. i went up to the front counter and spoke with the female manager. i asked if they can bring out more ribs and wings, and she says the chefs went home and they have to get ready for dinner. Dinner starts at 5 pm, again it's only 2pm and they don't close for another hour. I'm like it doesn't take a chef to throw some chicken wings in the fryer and I'm sure they have tons of food trays in the steamer racks in back. She refused. I said lunch is until 3 pm and you should not start cleaning up at 2 pm and if food trays are empty they should be replenished. Oh, she did bring out some fresh watermelon when I asked about that. That saved her from a 1 star review. They need to up their game, but I don't think I will return. For $10 more I can go to AYCE korean BBQ and eat 5 pounds of short rib. read more

Here's the bottom line... if you don't like seafood, don't come here. For all the reviews that are saying the food is "okay", you're clearly not eating the seafood, and if you're not eating the seafood, it is not okay to spend $40+ to eat here. I feel so sad watching people fill plates with chicken nuggets, fried rice, and French fries. What a waste! I don't blame you for rating the food low and giving low stars when you're not eating it. Now, why should you come here??? (drumroll) the seafood! They try to sell you on the snow crabs, but note that the crabs come out in shifts (roughly every 15-20 minutes) where there's a stainless steel bowl of about 40 clusters of legs and the people in line are allowed 2 clusters each. So it gets old trying to time your visits to grab those, but you should try at least once. Aside from that, you've got direct access to: - Soft shell crab - Seasoned peel-n-eat shrimp (big) - Crawfish - Manila clams - Frog legs - Oysters - Dungeons crab clusters - Whole stone crab - Broiled squid (large) - Several styles of prepared fish (fried, sautéed, steamed) - Mussels - Nigiri sushi - Sashimi - Sushi rolls - Shrimp stir fry - Smelt - Calamari - Snails - Blue crab - Baby octopus ...and that's just the seafood. In addition you have: - Chinese stir fry - Build-your-own stir fry - Dumplings and dim sum - Hibachi, table-side - Ice cream - Crepes - Desserts - Fruits - Salads ...and more! The service is attentive... there are servers focused on table sections and they are quick to remove plates and refill drinks (drinks are expensive btw, so get water). RB is always a good time. I miss the Lobster Night Fridays (darn Pandemic) but they more than make up for it. Crab legs every night, amazing dim sum, Beef ribs, Prawns as big as your face, large sushi spread etc. I rarely go to the Mongolian grill (or get the amazing fruit) because I'm trying to get my money's worth. We used to come here all the time and I had a very intense pregnancy craving. The price has gone up quite a bit since the last time I went ($2-4 a person). The food quality is above average compared to other buffets. They hold their crab legs and lobster and it is served to you. The crab legs were waterlogged and tasted a little old and salty. 03/20/21 - Can you say gluttony? My wife's friend took us to dinner here tonight & we chowed down. I weigh around 225lbs. These 3 woman weigh less then 100lbs yet they all put me to shame and out ate me. Where do they put that food? Hollow stomachs or legs? Royal Buffet is a Pan Asian buffet that has a fantastic selection of seafood, meats, poultry and dessert dishes. I give their food options 4 1/2 stars, but unfortunately their service lacks. Sure it's a buffet but the servers there act like they are doing you a favor and don't want to be there. * They have an enormous selection of food options but many of the trays had very little food on it and many were empty. * The sashimi was very limited in quantity & quality. I went up 3X's to check. The only sashimi they had was Mackeral, some type of white fish that I didn't care for & tuna. They want you to limit it to 3 or 4 pieces & every time I went to check the dishes were empty. * The waiter & waitress both sucked and had an attitude. My wife's friend called the guy 4 or 5 times before he responded grudgingly like he was doing a favor to do his job. Pre-Covid, this place used to be banging like long lobster lines and crab legs. Consistent food being replaced so food was hot. Tons of dim sum. It was amazing but after Ginza closed we went because it was the next best buffet I could think of. We went like about an hour after opening on a Sunday, so I wasn't expecting tons of stuff to be out. I also wasn't expecting that they were still utilizing tons of their seating, especially if some foods just weren't going to be served. I guess the biggest annoyance was the amount of people who cut in line with their party members while we were waiting for the crab legs to come out because all they did was take up space and cut the line. There wasn't as much food out so it kinda sucked to wait and still not get much. They were making crepes which was nice but there were still people blocking the way trying to get to other desserts and fruits so I didn't know if I could order a crepe or wait because I had no idea if they were in line for a crepe or not. I'm definitely trying to look for other Asian buffets in the meantime because for the drive out and the amount of people who just tried to cut or blocked the food was overwhelming. read more
