I would give it a 7/10 just because they have shrimp dimsum. Wish they had all the sauce options. - they have chicken feet and they were big! My family said they were very good - the fishes they had all were very fishy taste, they were not handled properly. - sushi, idk about raw sushi in Chicago. I'm from west coast so I didn't even touch the sushi. It doesn't seem like anybody ate it too. It looks like it sat out overnight kind of sushi. - crepes, they offer ice cream and fruit in crepe. Personally didn't like ice cream options, so I didn't get ice cream. Lady making crepe was kinda rushing and rude. Also if you are going to have a crêpe bar definitely go all out. only fruit option they had was banana. The caramel drizzle was like clear cheap caramel. The chocolate sauce was watery. We did lunch and dinner on different occasions. I have to say the dinner is a lot better, the only thing is the chinese servers on the crab legs were rude as F**** like we dis not pay for it. The other foods were great I like it has a variety of korean and seafood choices I did not even tried the hibachi since I have no room for it. Overall i will pay $35 again for the dinner. The lunch is $23 but no crab legs and the selection are less appealing, I was not so happy with lunch. Will come for dinner again. read more

Meal prices are higher evenings & weekends. Intermittent fasting may be beneficial. I oftentimes went Weds & Fri 5pm right before there dinner bell donging & 'come & get it' songs for lobster night, but that's been postponed due to food shortages & long lines of pandemic risk. Weekday lunchtimes are the best value because it's fresh, less crowded, & economical. People don't understand the culture & technique & it seems to suggest perhaps the reason for a steady 3 stars over time; but I can tell there are multiple satisfied customers at a 4 or 5 stars level everytime. The dining service staff is attentive, respectful, & polite, the group is friendly, caring, & do their best. Interestingly, on days I've remembered to bring my own oolong or pu-erh teabags, they'll give you hot water at no cost. Drinks are not included but they have a bar & many options. The quality is impeccable & you rarely can go wrong to satisfy your hunger. Just ask for chopsticks upfront if you need them & feel free to ask for open & brighter spots to sit if you need to, there is plenty of room. Huge disappointment. High prices that aren't worth it when the experience and quality is so bad. Lots of dishes not labeled properly. Most of the food is cold. Dried out unappetizing sushi. Overly salted crab legs. Moldy desserts. Sticky floors. Waiters that don't do much other then stand around on their phones or chit-chatting. Dirty establishment overall with cobwebs in the light fixture and sticky tables not cleaned properly. Would not recommend this place. It's gone down the drain over the years. Can't believe they have such a turn over when the quality of food isn't worth the price point or experience. I'm surprised more people don't fall ill to the mishandling of food. Wonderful variety of foods at the higher priced meal. Take a look at the dishes and foods to see if you even like Asian foods. There is something for everyone. Cons: large volume of people could not be as careful and may make the spoons of food not sanitary, some food are not as fresh since there is a lot of food, try a few pieces of the food before taking a huge scoop of it, long line for crab or lobster dishes. Pro: Great variety of good tasting food, lots of dim sum dishes, nearly all foods are hot and tasty, Ron of sushi rolls everywhere, try small side sushi related dishes, high dessert sections including fruits, gelatin, ice cream, pancakes, and much more. See the flowing chocolate fountain and dip a piece of food or fruit into the fountain. I think there is something for everyone is you like Asian, Chinese or Japanese food. First time to the Royal Buffet. They have a lot of more traditional options. If you like seafood this is a really good place to come. They keep things nice and fresh which I appreciate. Crab, fish, shrimp, oysters, squid, octopus, crawfish they had a nice selection. While the line is long they do a good job portioning out the crab so everyone has a chance to get some if they want. They have a Mongolian grill and some more Americanized dishes like Mongolian beef, and broccoli beef. Limited on the different Chinese American dishes. I was a little disappointed they did not have hot mustard but instead had Sriracha. Food was good and I had more than enough to eat. The hot and sour soup was spicy but wasn't very good in my opinion. Overall it was good. Waitress has not done a good job keeping out water glasses full tonight. I would come back. read more

If there were such a thing as the 'Seven Wonders of Hoffman Estates,' this place could be one of them. I've dined at dozens of Asian buffets through the years, and folks, this is the best one I've experienced in the Chicago area by a wide margin. The enormous freestanding restaurant is not at all visible from either Golf or Higgins, in fact I didn't know it existed until recently. In terms of size and variety, it's comparable to buffets in resorts along the Las Vegas Strip or on mega-cruise ships. And the quality exceeded my expectations. The entrance is spectacular. A large pond teeming with live turtles and fish dominates the immense outer lobby. The reception area and front desk occupy a more modest inner lobby, which opens to the vast buffet area. One of the four spacious but comparatively plain dining areas is outfitted with teppanyaki grills. The well-organized and appealing buffet is stocked with a mind-boggling array of pan-Asian specialties. A team of sushi chefs continuously replenishes nigri, sashimi and maki as good as any I've had at Japanese restaurants. Another section features a Mongolian grill, and still another offers steamers filled with dim sum delicacies. The lineup of entrees seems endless; of special note are the fish and seafood items. Here, everything I sampled tasted fresh. Thankfully most of the desserts are bite-size morsels, and even those are above par. As if that weren't enough, there are cooked-to-order crepes that can be filled with fruit and/or assorted flavors of ice cream; cotton candy, and a chocolate fountain. Don't expect perfection (rule of thumb: If it looks old, it probably is). Occasional hot dishes might be less than hot, and one of the fried fish items I tasted was excessively salty. The crepe lady, like one of the soups, had a "hot and sour" disposition. Customers are advised that the restaurant will add a 15% extra charge to the bill for wasting food. Bravo! All buffet-style restaurants really ought to enforce such a policy to discourage waste and keep costs down. Currently $15.45 ($14.45 for seniors), weekday & Saturday lunch here is a bargain. Went there as a Birthday/Christmas gift. We went on a Friday night because of the crab legs. We were seated in the back near the hot food. We love sushi. It was great. Anyplace else would have a hard time coming close to theirs. It was so fresh. The seafood choices were amazing. Could use a little more signage. Some had signs and some didn't . The crab was steaming hot and delicious without butter. The server made sure dirty plates were removed from the table. I usually don't eat dessert but my daughter had a fruit crepe. They were made fresh. The crepes were very large. Unfortunately, they need to put more fruit in them. They had cotton candy my daughter loved. The only problem was the lights kept flickering where we were seated. It was $37.00 per person which is very reasonable since we really came for the crab legs. Came on Saturday at about 1 pm and was seated immediately. The place is really large and was slightly less than half full. So many food options. I immediately went to the lobster and crab line, which was about four people deep. The line moved fairly quickly. The food was okay, a little bit dry and bland. I didn't add any dipping sauce to it, so I could get the natural flavors of the lobster and crab legs. It was so much work to get the meat out though. I liked the variety of sushi and dim sum options. Some of the dim sum (shrimp har gow and one of the shu mai-looking things) looked in pretty bad shape, so I didn't take any. The stir fry foods were REALLY salty! Way too salty. I didn't like how there weren't any fresh veggies or salad bar. The only raw veggies I could get was some jicama, pickled turnip, and romaine lettuce. Otherwise, I was left with only the oily deep-fried green beans or the broccoli from the beef and broccoli dishes for a little sumthin' green. Plenty of meat and protein options though. So if you like your fat, carbs, and protein, this place is a paradise for you. So much meat, seafood, cheese, and fried stuff. As I was walking out of the restaurant after my meal, I realized I could have partaken in all the topping options at the hibachi grill (mushrooms, pineapple, zucchini, etc.), but I hadn't thought to visit it during my meal. The pecan pie was really good but very sweet. Green tea ice cream was really creamy with just a hint of green tea taste. I dipped a piece of banana and a marshmallow into the chocolate fountain just to try it, but they were pretty underwhelming. Overall, it was an okay meal. I'm glad I was finally able to try it out after talking about the place for almost 3 years. Not sure if it was worth the $30 though. Definitely will get your fill of food in and not leave hungry. I liked the huge plethora of food options, but as long as you set your expectations of buffet-quality food, then you'll be fine. Just don't expect anything gourmet here. read more

Our server kept our table clear of dirty plates and our drinks filled. I was very pleasantly surprised that they a nice array of dim sum items including braised chicken feet (a childhood favorite). I still avoided sushi like I do at any Asian buffet and supermarkets but it appeared to have a wide variety of rolls and also had sashimi. There's a hibachi station for your knowledge but I eat as little carbs as possible at a buffet. Good variety of seafood and meat options. Quality is similar to other Asian buffets. I was surprised they had frog legs which were juicy. Their steamed flounder was surprisingly tasteless. I was not willing to stand in that long line for crab but I guess it must be good lol. Their dessert line had good number of ice cream options (green tea flavor was cheap but not surprising), cotton candy, and crepes - impressive. Amazing place and one of my favorite sea food buffet to attend. If you ever come here come on the weekend, reason why is the weekend are normally the days they have EVERYTHING out. Paying a little more but it's worth it. Weekend prices are about $30 a person but I feel like if you eat at least 3 full plates you got the money worth. Anything you can think of is here crabs, oysters, crab legs, shrimp, crawfish, dim sum, sushi, etc. The staff here are really friends and try to help you out when needed. When it comes to parking there is a lot but it is also shared with all the other stores around the strip mall. But with a few laps around the area you are bound to find parking. We ask the servers to have sea shell cracker and she ignore us , when I got up she took out 3 of those she'll crackers and went to the back. This seems odd that a place holds 50 or more in front hall would only have 3 . If they only have a limit supply let the customers. So we can make a decision before entering it's only fair you work hard and we spend our hard earn money . So what's my point my point is just explain the situation , btw an older man ask them for a spoon and to remove the ice from their drinks, they had no problem helping with a smile. I have been here several times, only for dinner. This time we went for lunch since it is much cheaper. Then I regretted. There were not as many options of food as dinner. Many things I like were not available. And when the server brought us the chopsticks, he dropped them on the table contemptuously like throwing a chip on the gambling table. As far as Chinese buffets go, this one is is legit. For $15 for lunch on weekdays, quality is top notch. There is sashimi, sushi, dim sum, all the. basic Chinese comfort foods, soups, whole grilled and steamed fish, crab legs, Mongolian grill, crepes, green tea ice creams and fresh lychee. Used to eat here years ago and enjoyed it, but today was disappointing. They don't refill any of the foods after like 1:30. The foods that are out were not very hot and the cold dishes were not very cold. Over all this is a very mediocre asian buffet that they are charging a LOT for.
