Good egg foo young, classic brown gravy. Also had combination Cantonese chow mein with fried noodles, nice combo.

I am a Chinese connoisseur and trust me this isn't it. It wasn't terrible but I wouldn't eat it again. Sweet and sour was mostly breading... Orange chicken didn't have much flavor. Rice was below average ... Egg rolls were pretty good and the crab ragoons were meh.

Dirty interior glass that looks like it has not be cleaned since 1945.

I just can't say never again enough times. This place is dirty. Unorganized and rude. They tell me the food would be ready in half an hour. I wind up waiting another thirty minutes when I get there to pick my food up. The woman behind the counter is short with people. The food is nothing special and I think someone would have to pay me to eat here again. The egg rolls were dripping with grease. Took one bite and threw it away. Waste of money. The fried rice has a strange smokey and old grease flavor. Yuck!!! I thought I would try this spot because it was close to my home. Next time I will drive to Iowa if I have to before I eat here. Please don't let me get hepatitis A, B, and C eating here. I am feeling sick to my stomach and have only taken a few bites. At least this food will help me start my diet tomorrow.

Awful, horrific, never again. Bottom of barrel quality for as cheap as you can fathom. Unsure of how it got this highly reviewed.

Before you read my tiny, short novel here, I will preface that this review is just for a soup :)…read more My husband and I have been on a hot and sour soup kick lately--I'm talking three weeks straight of craving it. It started with me, but now he's fully on board, and we're officially on the hunt for "the best hot and sour soup" in the suburbs. I might be a bit of an Asian soup snob, but when I go to an Asian restaurant, I can judge a lot about the authenticity of the cuisine based on their soups. Soups can be one of the simplest dishes to make, but they're also easy to overlook. To me, if a place puts care into their soups, they'll likely put that same care into their entrées. With Asian soups especially, the tiniest tweaks make a big difference in flavor. If you love Tom Yum or pho, you know exactly what I mean--it's all about the flavor profile. And the same goes for a good old hot and sour soup... and oh my--I think I found the one tonight. I could have easily finished the entire quart in one sitting (I showed some restraint... barely). My husband gave it a thumbs up, and my oldest loved the kick and went back for seconds. Safe to say--we'll be back for more on our next takeout night. Definitely worth the $7.73 (tax included). Where it hit all the right notes: * Fresh bamboo shoots, mushrooms, wood ear mushrooms (my favorite), eggs, carrots, and tofu * Perfect consistency (not too thick, not too watery) * Balanced flavor (not overly sour or flat) * Real chili peppers for heat (not just a heavy hand of black pepper) My favorite detail: The vegetables were actually cut into bite-sized pieces --not giant chunks--and everything was properly cooked and tender. I've been to places where the carrots are so crunchy, it feels like they came straight out of the ground! We've ordered takeout from here several times and haven't had a bad experience yet. I just haven't been intentional about remembering what I ordered--until now. This soup officially has me paying attention, and I'll definitely be back to try more of their entrées (and take notes this time!). I managed to get a picture of the remaining 30% of my soup where I had to tilt the carton just to get the photo. It was all eaten too fast before I could take a picture. Pickup was smooth and easy. I was able to pay with a credit card even for a small order (under $10). They also have a wall of gift items for sale, which looked interesting. There are a few tables and chairs if you want to sit while you wait (or maybe even eat there) but it definitely feels more like a takeout-focused spot. Based on the neon signage outside, it looks like they offer delivery as well. Tip: With small businesses like this one, they aren't married to their hours. When I called on a Wednesday to ask about their closing time, they told me it was 8:45 PM. However, when I arrived, the sign on the door listed their closing time as 9:00 PM. We picked up well ahead, but I've also seen Google reviews mentioning that they may close early, so just keep that in mind--especially if you're placing an order or calling close to closing time.

Ordered the Hunan Beef with extra beef, Chicken with garlic sauce and pot stickers…read more Yes the pot stickers were thick and doughy, only place that has thin dough is Twin Dragons. BUT Fortune House has delivery (Twin Dragons doesn't) and Fortune House gives you a lot more for your money. Good amount of meat, a lot of crispy, crunchy (no over done) vegetables, bell pepper, water crestnut, carrots, broccoli and bean spouts in a rich creamy nice rich gravy. The garlic chicken was likewise very good. This week I've been trying out many of the Chinese restaurants around Hanover Park and for the money - so far, Fortune House gives you the biggest bang for your buck. Amazed at the difference in restaurants and in my humble opinion, Fortune House this week wins the prize for not being stingy with the meat and veggies. Fast, delicious, big portions and cost effective.

The other items on the menu are pretty good. I couldn't eat it, too bad someone went through the trouble of making it. I will continue to order for my kids, they got decent food, but I will never order again for myself. How disappointing. It would be good if they mentioned they have a different variety of gravy on the chicken. Other restaurants have the brown gravy even on their chicken chop suey so I did not realize that was an option. They should at least make it clear.

Same type of dishes, but the quality of meat and veggies are better. Service has always been fast and efficient. They have a decent seating area if you want to eat in as well. Bao offers a wide variety of drinks as well like smoothies and boba. Going back to the food, anything that is breaded and fried tastes nice and crunchy. They don't over do it with the breading. For example the sweet and sour chicken and orange chicken which are common dishes that people order. I'd say they are great and tasty. Pricing is maybe a dollar or so above others at times but worth it for better quality. I have only tasted about 10 things so far and all have been great. I'd say the least appetizing would be the plain white rice that comes with some dishes. It always seen pretty dull and not fluffy but then again that is pretty much any Chinese place. It's always gets hard and when you reheat the next day it's not worth it. I use my own Jasmin rice instead. But other than that everything gets a thumbs up from me.
