Got this last night, New Year's Eve and was SO pleased! Used to be just ice cream and now it's chinese takeout too! Our order was perfect and packed nicely! They even threw in a few cookies!

I have been living in the area for about three years now from Chicago. Hands-down, this is the best Chinese food around. Service is always exceptional and quick. Prices are reasonable and they give you ample amounts of food. I always am able to eat twice from one dinner. If you like Chinese food, Gee N Jays is your spot!!

Delicious Chinese food. Always hot and fresh. I've tried many y different things off of the menu, and I have to say it is all good. They run an organized place. There are a couple of tables inside, but it's better as a carryout. They also have ice cream, shakes, and funnel cakes, to name a few things.

Not the best Chinese food around but it's pretty good. Full size orders are mighty big, easily split with a partner. The restaurant doesn't have any eat-in space really and no outdoor tables. It's great for pickup. Typically 15-20 minutes to get your order.

We shared a butter pecan malt shake with chocolate fudge and it was amazing . They still use those old-school milkshake machines and bring you the extra in the metal cup, which is such a great nostalgic touch. The atmosphere inside is lovely too, especially all the framed photos of historical buildings that used to be in downtown Elgin! The staff were so friendly too. The waiter was such a sweetheart and made the experience even more enjoyable.

Would not reccomned here is why: Customer service: One specific employee was rude to my older parents and I. My parents andI went in and an employee, and older ladyolder lady asked me what I wanted. I said I was still deciding. My parents were standing next to me and instead of asking them for their order she just walked away. Another employee told her we were trying to order. She waved her arms in the air to that employee and said "they don't want anything." Right in front of us and loud enough that we heard her. She looked annoyed and walked away. We then had to wait a few minutes while the other employees helped other costumer. Then when the lady saw another customer come in, she came out, ignored us and went to help them. I told her, "but we were here first (still need help with order)," and she said "somebody else will take your order." That's just disrespectful, unprofessional. The paletas are very good! However, it's a shame that the customer service, from this one employee, was so bad. A product being good is not enough to keep people coming back. Customer service is the greatest factor in the success of a business. I know La Michoacana is a big chain and it will not fail as a company from one bad review, but good reputation needs to be sustained.

Parking was a bit difficult in this part of town. They had an ordering kiosk but one could ring a bell for someone to come over if you'd prefer to pay cash. They offer a variety of topping styles on top of their classic rolled ice cream. The ice cream itself is condensed milk placed on a frozen plate that gets neatly spread out to freeze into its ice cream state. The workers then roll it up and place into a bowl before adding your toppings. It was fun to see and delicious to eat. The ice cream flavors tend to be straight forward chocolate or vanilla since it comes from the condensed milk. Either way, the experience is fun and this is a cute shop.

We were a party of three, but two of us came at 4:30 pm on a Saturday to put our name on the waiting list. We also had to make sure we grabbed a parking spot. To clarify for everyone, parking sucks on the weekend. They made it clear that you can't park in the other parking lots. To secure one, you're better off coming before 5 pm or coming on a weekday. They had tables available inside so there was no waiting. Again, 5 pm and after on the weekend, you'll have to wait. Just come on the weekday to save yourself some stress. The restaurant is a good size. They have a bench area where you can wait and watch the staff make dumplings. We ordered fu chi fei pian, baby bok choy with garlic, mini pan fried buns, fried chicken wings, hu tong soup dumplings, black truffle soup dumplings, chili wonton with pork, shrimp noodle, jjajang noodle, and surf and turf dumpling. Service was good but could be better. Some of the bussers were just standing around. Our waiter or waiters made sure we got everything. Pricing was okay. Overall, it's a 4 out of 5. -fu chi fei pian 5 - these were a good appetizer that you can split between 2 people. The meat was flavorful and it wasn't spicy. -baby bok choy with garlic 5 - Got to get your veggies in. -mini pan fried buns 5 - it came with eight. Each bun was juicy and moist. The pork was perfectly cooked. -fried chicken wings 4 - they were very juicy and tender. I took off a full point because they should have added at least two more for the price, or buy bigger wings. -hu tong soup dumplings 5 - they were pretty good. Succulent and placed on proper parchment paper. These are as good as you'll get without going to Din Tai Fung. -black truffle soup dumplings 5 - basically like the hu tong but with a noticeable truffle taste. The taste is strong enough to know it's there, it's not overwhelming. -chili wonton with pork 3 - these were okay, not quite as delicious as Din Tai Fung. -shrimp noodle (spicy) 5 - they added a lot of shrimp. Noodle dishes are good here because at least the quantity is big. -jjajang noodle 3 - this was okay, it could use a lot more black bean sauce. Mandarin House in Downers Grove gave us a generous amount of black bean sauce. -surf and turf dumplings 5 - these were good. They have shrimp and pork in them.
