I am sharing an updated review after my recent experience at 8000 Miles. The food, especially the Thai Basil Shrimp or Crispy Garlic Shrimp, are my favorite dishes. Basically, I love anything with shrimp here. The Lynfred plum wine is great if you like a sweeter wine. The servers are always fast and so appreciative of their customers. Don't skip dessert! The cheesecake Spring Roll is tasty and crisp, and the banana won tons are an equally sweet way to end your meal here. In the warmer months, you can sit outside on the patio, if you don't mind shouting over an occasional train passing by. 8000 Miles is one of my favorite Asian restaurants in this area. read more

First of all, this place has warm and welcoming staff. Went here on a Thursday night, for a quick date night. The place has high ceilings, option to sit in both tables and high tops -- and very comfortable and large booths. The food was great! Though we only tried the sushi, I can't wait to try other foods soon! For sushi we got the Coconut lady-- per staff recommendation. I loved it. So rich and flavorful. The mongolian beef was $19 and some change so about $20. I was very dissapointed as the taste consisted of old beef flavor. It was so off-putting I was legit annoyed since reading previous reviews raved about the dish. Decent portion of meat considering it's $20 but who cares if it tastes like rotting meat? This is a fantastic Chinese Japanese restaurant for the suburbs. The ambience is very clean. Very cool. Pray for a late night our family dinner or if you're in a rush and in Roselle area I wanna stop in to get something to eat quick they have a great unique variety of dishes. The apps are amazing. I have not come across the bad one yet. I recommend getting the sushi in house not so great for delivery. One of the best pork fried rice is their vegetarian dishes is all amazing. I live a good 10 miles away and my food always arrives hot and fresh. This is a hidden gem in in Roselle. I would highly recommend everything is made to order. Although it's been just 1 trip to 8,000 Miles, and it was a 40 mole drive for me, it was a good first visit. The day we went, there was a local festival going on called Taste of Roselle, so that gave the whole area a lively vibe with people all around, DJ blaring some tunes, and just a fun atmosphere as we sat out in the covered patio area. The service was good. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. I only got to try out the eggplant in garlic sauce, which was pretty good. Maybe a bit too sweet for my taste, but overall decent. Each order was HUGE portion sizes. Definitely enough for 2-3 people from just 1 dish. Needless to say, I had plenty o' leftovers. We also had an order of spring rolls and they brought out two tiny rolls, which is interestingly the opposite experience in terms of portions. The roll was fine. One minor nit is they ran out of the chilli paste / oil and she bright out just the oil. Not a huge deal, but would've been nice to be able to add some spice factor to the food. read more

My fiancé and I came here on a double date with some friends a few weeks ago and we were SO surprised at how delicious everything on the menu was! We definitely plan to go back once the weather gets a little nicer. The crab rangoons were some of the BEST I've ever had. The hand grenades and Sichuan dumplings were also delicious. Are used to live nearby over five years ago and the food was amazing. I would take my family and order almost every other week. They had a story of two brothers from over 8000 miles away and they cook high-quality food always fresh. I was bragging about how good it was and when I get there, not only did the prices go up which OK fine prices go up at times but the food was just so bad the calamari was just a little rings no actual octopus pieces and the pieces were so thin and tiny. It was all just crunchy you barely taste the calamari on top of it we ordered what looked to be the best and tastiest crunchy lobster roll and it just tasted so not fresh. I've had better sushi from the side of a grocery store. We had to force ourselves just to finish the food. I've never had such bad sushi I don't think. You could just taste not freshness. I immediately told the people I was with the ownership must've changed because this is not how it was and sure enough apparently It did change in 2019. It started as a great restaurant with fresh food with a great story of some brothers from over 8000 Miles away. Now it's been sold to some other owner that has nothing to do with that story. He's just trying to run off the success of the previous ownership, but people are not silly. It's all about taste and freshness if the food is not good nobody's going to come back and maybe that's why we were the only ones there when we were eating it used to be packed on the weekends. Horribly disappointed, good restaurant run into the ground by new ownership. I cannot tell you how disappointed I am in my meal. Been traveling and missing Chicago food, so came back and ordered from 8000 miles as our first meal from the cellphone app because it's convenient and we don't have to do much waiting, although our last visit had not been pleasant. We ordered three full dishes (none of them being side dish or appetizer) , and they only served two rice in the order. What's up with them? Are rice very expensive lately? It's like a required side for the meal, how can they serve two sides for 3 meals? And szechuan style food are known to be spicy, you can't eat it without rice. We ordered a beef dish with veggie, so it's not all meat and have some greens as a balance. But this beef dish looks so foreign, with very little greens, and the beef are so chunky, instead of the normal thinly cut beef. Something is really wrong. First time ordering I had ordered a bunch of rolls these were for diffrent peoples orders at my dinner party when my order arrived the put all the rolls on a buffet stle serving try, everything was super small portions... the dumplings were laughable they were in a mini container.. everything tasted like grocery store sushi.. some tasted old or stale.. this was not cheap either spent over $140 and it was extremely sub par. I hate to do this because I loved this place for years. Cozy, quaint, and close to work. But yesterday I became violently ill from either fried calamari. I should have known something was wrong. My food smelled horrible. The fried calamari & the tuna crunch bites were rather pungent, but I assumed it was simply due to other fish cuisines being prepared near it. I know, totally my fault. I should have returned it. Instead, I ate half, but that's all it took. Up all night with extreme food poisoning. Look, I want this place to do better. It use to be great. It was very convenient for me to pick up a lil sumpin' sumpin' for lunch yesterday after picking up some vino, so that's just what I did. After seeing some very trusted fellow Yelpers go to 8000 Miles and giving it rave reviews, I had to do my own personal inspection. Plus I heard it is connected to TL's Four Season which one of my coworkers raves about all the time. I'm happy to say - it passed my test! I called in an order for pickup of their Crispy Honey Sesame Beef and was quoted 20 minutes. This dish intrigued me because I've seen crispy honey dishes and seen sesame dishes, but never all together. It's combining my most favorite Asian fusion flavors all in one dish for my eager consumption, hurrah! I arrived precisely 20 minutes later and was happy to see my dish all packed up and ready to go. Now when I looked at their menu online, I saw nothing of lunch specials so assumed it was cost me $14. I was quoted an $11 total so apparently I got a special lunch price. I can only assume it was a slightly smaller portion to go along with that price. While inside I took a quick looksie around and it looked like a really nice place to dine in + parking is plentiful right outside. They have a menu board with some specials and I saw they do a Lynfred Winery pairing. I must say even the outside of 8000 Miles looks cute and trendy. My crispy honey sesame beef was so delicious. It was quite crispy bordering on being a bit too much for me sometimes as I couldn't tell if it was just overcooked a tad too much (like I couldn't cut it and had to eat each long piece in one bite) or a nice crisp. The sauce was so friggin good though. It truly was the perfect blend of honey and sweet sesame causing me to devour my lunch! The lunch special came with a side of white rice, thank goodness. I need rice like I need air. They have so many dishes on their menu that look so good and I'll be back to try more. They need a happy hour! read more

I'm part of a newer book club through the Roselle library that consists of a group of twenty- and thirty-somethings meeting once a month to discuss a book. For the first monthly meeting back in August, I suggested meeting at 8000 Miles. I actually missed that meeting, but the book club loved it (whew!), so they've been meeting here every month ever since. The first time I ate here, I ordered my typical Asian foods: spring rolls for an appetizer and California rolls for the entree. I also tried the edamame. I know, I know, they're not that exciting, but they hit the spot for me. All were delicious. Not stunning, but nothing to complain about. Then I saw the dessert menu and my jaw dropped when I saw "Happiness Mochi." YES! No one else at my table knew what it was, so I ordered some to share. We were presented with three flavors of mochi cut into pieces. The delightful display was gobbled up instantly. I loved it. So did everyone else. Another plate of mochi was ordered right afterwards and has been a staple dessert at each book club meeting. That wasn't all. A collective "ooooh!" rose from the table when the waitress presented us with fortune cookies. Not only were the fortunes amusing, but the cookies were actually good!!! Not stale and tasteless like most places. I spent about $20 on myself for an appetizer, a dish, a dessert, and tip. I don't think that's too bad considering the pleasant interior, the (usually) large dishes, the delicious food, and the speedy service! For last week's meeting, I stepped away from my comfortable foods and tried the Oktoberfest roll. I cannot remember exactly what was in -- salmon/sweet potato/butternut squash/veggies of some sort -- but it was absolutely amazing. I was blown away by how hearty this sushi roll was. It was autumn splendor in my mouth. Mmm. I came with my parents for lunch once too and they were also equally impressed with the food. Our lunch portions were huge and everything tasted wonderful. They enjoyed their fried rices and beef dishes; my vegetable lo mein was scrumptous and enough for three meals! My parents are kind of picky when they eat out so I was quite relieved that they liked it here! Writing this review is making me hungry. I'm craving some sushi.... At first glance, this place looks very inviting! Both on the outside as well as inside. The hostesses greeted us promptly and before seating us, my sister noticed a specials board above the hostess stand. She asked the hostess if the specials were printed in the menu somewhere and she informed us they were not so make sure to read the board before being seated! The restaurant is very comfy/casual but seemed kinda empty for the 7 o'clock hour on a Tuesday. We were not greeted by our server nearly as quickly as the hosts. When she finally made her way over, I was pleased to see she greeted us with ice water! I found it weird that she set the ice water on the tables and THEN put the cocktail napkins next to the glasses. I know it was intended for additional beverages but only one of us ordered something besides the water so it didn't make much sense. I did ask the server for a straw and she brought it to me with her bare hands and put it in my glass of water. I was a little put back because she had just been handling menus and serving trays moments prior so I wasn't a fan of the bare hands. Later in the meal, my sister asked the busboy for a straw for her beverage and he was wise enough to bring it wrapped in a napkin. Good job, busboy guy! You made me very happy. We ordered an app of fried potstickers per our servers recommendation. The potstickers were not quite as fried as they should have been. They were not really browned or even very hot throughout. I was a bit disappointed but seeing as no one checked back on us, we didn't have the opportunity to give our feedback on the potstickers. I guess they will have to read my review to find out. The dish I ordered was the basil garlic chicken. I specifically asked if it was white meat chicken and the server informed me it was. After being served the dish, I'm about 95% certain there was dark meat in the dish. My sister told me she thought it was white meat but I think she may have been fibbing to me much like the server did earlier. My nephew got a sushi roll: the volcano roll that sounded good on the menu but was served on a huge plate so it literally looked like a smaller portion than our appetizer we shared. We both encouraged him to order a second roll or even a soup or something but he said it was enough so we left it at that. My sister ordered the black pepper chicken and while it looked visually appealing, I had a bite, and it had a distinct seafood-y flavor. Like it had been fried with some fish or something. Gross!!! Finally, the bill took a while to be taken off the table with our card so that was a bit irritating kinda being "held hostage". Honestly, I would prefer to go to TL's in Bartlett. At least they include soup or salad with your entree there and it's consistent. read more
