I went here for dinner after being recommended by many people but was extremely disappointed. The sushi AYCE was mediocre and nothing remarkable. They were extremely busy to be fair but I don't think it excuses certain things. We had to wait 40+ minutes for our second round. I don't feel like they checked the quality of their fish. The raw salmon and tuna had a strange taste. Upon smelling it, it had a fishy odor and ammonia smell. And the color was off. They did not charge us for that but we got no apology or offer to rectify the situation as if it were a crime for us to bring up the quality of their food because they were busy. I threw up everything shortly after because I felt so sick. I don't recommend this place and I think the people who work there are rude and think being busy is an excuse to provide lousy food and service. read more

I like Abashiri. Abashiri is a restaurant that definitely got me through Covid. I ordered from them religiously during the lockdown and the food was delicious. I don't normally do their sushis, so I can't comment on those. I normally get their dinner sets. My favorite is the salmon teriyaki with tempura. It has a lot of variety and decent portions. The price is very reasonably priced. I still haven't gone inside the restaurant, so I can't comment on their ambiance or service, but the delivery packaging has always been good. They close at 10.00pm Friday and Saturday- and yet by 9.00pm We started being harassed by the waitresses who made it quite clear they wanted us out and to hurry up and argued that they wouldn't bring us any more food.... How very pleasant (!) Then (because I lived in Japan for some time) when I finally went up to the counter to settle the check for us all, I quickly discovered they all pretended to be Japanese - but are really Korean and don't speak or understand a lick of Nihongo. Not a big deal right? But they attempted to convince me that I didn't know what I was talking about. In-person dining is best described as intimate owing to the small size of the restaurant. If you're claustrophobic, this might be off putting. Seems clean; a bit heavy on dark wood. Service was efficient, though the woman that served our table during my first visit seemed overwhelmed (I believe she was the sole server). Poor thing! My preference is to order for takeout so I can pig out in private at home. If you love the spicy kick of wasabi as I do, don't hesitate to ask for extra--they'll readily compliment your order with more.
