The food here is great. Always friendly and accommodating. My favorites are General Tso Chicken, Mongolian Chicken, egg foo young, but everything I try is great. The location on RT 14 just east of Barrington is a perfect stop on the way home. First time there and I ordered crab Rangoon's and the house loin. The food is great the crab Rangoon have a wonderful flavor. They're just really good. I am impressed by them. My mother in law and I were hungry for Chinese but didn't know where to go. We looked up restaurants near us and landed on this one. I wasn't sure what to expect as the rating was lower than what I usually like but I was open to trying it. I'm so glad we did! The food was delicious and I would rate it much higher than what it was on Yelp. It isn't a sit down kind of place so you will want to call your order in. While we waited for our order, we met an older gentleman who said he had been coming there since he was a kid and he highly recommended it. I knew at that point we probably made the right decision. We ordered the crab Rangoon (a bit dry), steamed chicken kow (perfectly moist and well-cooked), and BBQ pork fried rice (just as expected). The counter service was quick and friendly. Tried this place when coming out of church. The place is a bit meh in terms of its looks but the food was pretty good, fresh and plentiful. We got sweet and sour chicken which were huge and freshly made. Could have likely eaten one and fed both of us. Small portion was huge - good taste. The service was nice. I don't love Chinese food, but my spouse does. When we do get Chinese take-out, this is our go-to spot, for a few reasons. One, they deliver, and fast! We usually get quoted an hour, and it never takes more than 30 minutes. Two, they always give you an extra order of egg rolls or Crab Rangoon, if you're ordering those kinds of appetizers! And three, their food is really good! It's American Chinese, so interpret that how you will... but everything tastes great and the portions are LARGE. Always good and FAST! Like ready in 10 minutes!! Depending on the order size they will throw in some freebies. Two entrees got us two free egg rolls. We had general Zhao's and Kung Pao Chicken. Both were a little spicier than usual but delicious. One entree will be at least two servings. Possibly three. The kids love the orange chicken. Fried rice is solid too. Anyways, first impression of this place was not great...we ordered $38+ dollars of food...asked for hot sauce...and were only given one little hot sauce. These were our thoughts on our order: *Shrimp Lo Mein: Lacked flavor...noodles were not good. Too thick...we dont know how people call this Lo Mein. *Shrimp Fried Rice: ok *General Tso Chicken: Sauce was too thick. *Dumplings: Dough was too thick! Lacked meat filling. We should of gone with something else *Crab Ragoons: ok *Beef with Broccoli: lacked flavor. Meat was chewy, tasted old. Broccoli was over cooked! Overall, we wouldn't come back nor do we recommend it to anyone. Once local restaurants start opening up, we will continue to buy from our local chinese restaurant New Hunan in Carpentersville. The delivery man YELLED at me when I answered the door, saying he had called 15 times trying to find our place and we didn't answer. We had accidentally left the phone in another room, charging. We've had many, many pleasant deliveries from here with no issues; so many times we never thought they'd have trouble finding us. We realize the man was frustrated, but this was epic anger lashing out at me, face to face. I apologized profusely, not knowing what to do. He continued to yell, handed me the food and walked off. This is the anniversary of the night my son died. I just wanted to have a little Chinese food and get through the evening. Instead, I'm actually a little fearful and emotionally hard hit by this circumstance. This has never happened to me before. I hope Chinese Palace reads this and gets back to me.
