I wanted to give a proper review. Don't believe some of the low rated reviews. If you look at their profiles, they give every place a bad review. To clear things up about their dining area, they have 2 small tables outside and 1 small and 2 big tables inside. Small tables - 2 chairs. Big tables - 4 chairs. On weekdays, you don't need to make a reservation. On the weekends due to their limited dine in area, I would recommend a reservation to be safe. You can make a reservation through Google/Yelp or phone call. Parking is easy since it's in a strip mall. There is also a 3% charge if you use plastic. Just a note, I tried looking at their food pictures on their website, but it kind of runs slow. Sometimes it would freeze. I think they need to fix it. I would return here to try other items. I would highly recommend ordering off their Malaysian menu instead of the miscellaneous. Don't order orange chicken or General Tao's chicken. Very cringe because you can get that literally anywhere. Get the Malaysian food because it's hard to find in Illinois. The owner is very sweet and the service is attentive. We ordered lor bak, nasi lemak, Hainanese chicken rice, hokkien mee, and kuih talam. Just a FYI, the portions are very generous. For 2 people, I would recommend ordering 2 dishes. Prices are reasonable for what you get. A pot of tea is $6. -lor bak 5 - I highly recommend this appetizer. It has crispy pork sausage with shrimp fritters, beancurd, and cucumber. It comes with two sauces. Everything was delicious. -nasi lemak 5 - I love the chicken rendang. The meat is very tender and it has a deep flavor. You can taste the spices that went into it. -Hainanese chicken rice 3.5 - I gave Penang Malaysian Cuisine a 4 because the rice was delicious. HD's version, the rice was not as moist and flavorful. The chicken was not bad, it's about the same as Penang's. It could be a bit more succulent without the sauces. -hokkien mee 4 - this won't be as tasty as in Malaysia. I liked the big pieces of shrimp, an adequate amount of sliced pork and hard boiled egg. The broth is still very good. The owner, Lin and her brother Robert are almost always behind the counter with a smile. I have a few go to items when I visit, the first being their pancakes. Not the traditional American pancakes but the Asian stuffed with pork or beef kind. The portions are hide and jam packed with flavors. Their Thai basil fried rice is delish too! They offer tons of traditional Malaysian and Hawker Delights (hence the HD)! All in all, from the service, to the flavors and the price you truly get the bang for your buck. Plan on getting your food to go. When I was in there, the couple of tables were filled by a families with young children. I could sense that they were regulars here. It somehow endeared me more to this place, even after squeezing by, and around them to pay my bill and collect my food. The kind owner lady apologized for the small quarters, but at the same time, you could tell she was proud of her little spot here, and she's confident about the food she serves here. All right, me and hubby were looking for a great little Malaysian spot and boy. Is this a hole in the wall! We were greeted by a very nice young man upon entry and boy. Did we notice that there was hardly any seating inside! We sat down. We were given menus that probably could have been wiped down a few times before we got to them and looked at a very tempting menu! We ordered roti paratha and char kuay Teow - and the flavor was spot on for both! I really enjoyed the food for sure-it appears they do a lot more takeout because the restaurant just doesn't have enough room for customers. But the biggest problem was seriously expensive and outrageously high service charge that was not noted on the menu before we ordered. Now I usually give a very nice 20% tip and did so here but when I looked at the printed receipt, I saw a mandatory service charge that was almost as much as the tip-I was a bit blown away! I will go again, but I won't tip if the service charge remains. That said? I will go again because the flavor was spot on, and my Malaysian friends would be satisfied eating there. I am that certain. What made this pickup so special was that, Lin (one of the owners), who was busy helping in the kitchen at the time, came out to say Hi and thank me when her daughter told her that I was in! I always ordered on the phone, and my orders were always ready when I went at the time that they promised. This time we still ordered the Penang Char Koay Teow with Shrimp (with no bean sprouts), which has become my favorite from HD Cuisine. I had been wanting to go to HD (Hawker Delight's) Cuisine for a while and just recently got a chance to check it out. I have had the type of pan-Asian food they serve here not only at a different restaurant in Chicago burbs but also, in Singapore. So, I was familiar with their type of cuisine. I did a dinner carry-out from here. I ordered their (C2) Malaysian Ayam Masak Merah which is a chicken in sauce dish that comes with rice, (N2) Filipino Fried Pancit Bihun which is a stir-fry noodles dish with some veggies & egg that I got with chicken, and (N11) Penang Hokkien Mee which is a noodles soup dish with shrimp, fish balls, pork slices, veggies, hard boiled egg in a shrimp flavored stock. I was informed that the order would be ready in 25 minutes when I placed the order and it indeed was ready in timely manner when I went to pick it up. The restaurant employee at the front counter helped me with taking plasticware and chopsticks. I received good service while paying and picking up my order. The restaurant itself is pretty small and the dining area is even smaller. So, dining in is not a good option unless you're flying solo or have just one additional person with you. And that too will only work if other patrons haven't already occupied the sitting area. During warm weather months, they do have some outdoor seating available. Let's talk about the food now. I really liked all the dishes I ordered. My top favorite was the noodles soup dish. That shrimp flavored stock of the soup was everything. It was aromatic, rich, and full of flavor. The noodles (a combo of yellow and rice) were properly cooked and it's taste along with the soup was just perfect for my liking. I couldn't get enough of it. Having it made spicy was a plus. Drinking the hot spicy soup was soul soothing. A bonus in that soup was fish balls which were not mentioned in the menu. This dish is highly recommended. My next favorite were the Pancit noodles. I hadn't had them in a while so, it was a logical choice and worth it for that matter. This dish was also well prepared and its flavor was pretty good. I liked the noodles texture and flavor that were stir fried with chicken, egg and veggies (cabbage, carrots, celery, onions). I had it made medium spicy and it came out good. Last but not least, the Ayam Masak dish was fairly decent. It's a semi saucy chicken (bone-in) dish prepared with chilies and spices in a chef special tomato sauce. I had it made medium spicy but should have gotten it spicy. It had a bit of sweet taste and I didn't care for the chicken being bone-in. The menu didn't clarify that. Overall, I had a good experience here with my take-out order. The food was delicious, prices were reasonable and I received good service. Their menu has a nice variety to choose from including beverages and desserts. Also, check out their specials of the day which are not on their carry-out menu. Went by a second time and got a few new dishes to try. Malaysian Mee Goreng --this was super interesting. I could taste a bit of the Asian ketchup/tomato sauce in the flavor profile. Slightly sweet and sour. And savory. Kinda like Italian pasta with a major Asian spin and flavor profile. Had potato, fried tofu slides, peanuts/nuts? Eggs. Onion. Really flavorful. Slightly spicy but like 3/10 on spicy level, barely noticeable but the kids will. Beef Rendang-- this was super delicious. The curry paste flavor was strong and beef was very tender. Great over white rice and let the rice soak up the sauce. This reminds my husband of how his mom makes beef stew, which also had major Southeast Asian influence in the way she made it. This unfortunately was also a little bit too spicy for my kids, but it's perfect for us. Bo Bo Cha Cha-- had no idea what this dessert was, so thought to try it. I tried the chilled version after refrigerating and the heated version and liked both. The heated version surprisingly didn't taste sour, which is what you typically get with banana. The creaminess and sweetness really come through and I liked that the heated version the tapioca was also soft. Chilled version the tapioca was a bit too hard in its core. The dessert is actually pretty sweet, but it's like the Asian type or sweet, so it's not too sharp. They had all sorts of roots in it-- red sweet potato that's soft, taro, purple sweet potato which was kind of crunchy, etc. it was really pleasant, lots of flavors and textures. I stopped by HD Cuisine because I never had Malaysian food before. This small restaurant is in a plaza next to the dollar store. There are many only 3 tables indoors and 2 more outside. Space is extremely limited if you are considering dining in. If you are, avoid lunch or dinner rush. The food definitely tastes great when eaten right when it's made. We ordered the Malaysian Mee Goreng lunch special , chicken rice lunch special and for dessert, Pulut Hitam. The Malaysian Mee Goreng reminds me a bit of another version of Pad Thai. The yellow noodles are chewy, mixed with chicken, eggs, bean sprouts and tofu in a semi spicy sweet potato peanut sauce. Oh and the chunks of tiny potatoes in the dish are my favorite!! I love it! I can eat this dish a few times a week! Lol Since I stopped by during lunch hour, it also came with an egg roll and drink. The tiny egg roll was crispy and delicious. Love the dipping sauce that came with it too! The chicken dish we got was pretty much like Hainan chicken. The ginger/ scallion dipping sauce give the chicken a boost of flavor. The white rice that comes with it was my favorite too! Has a nice broth like flavor infused in it. We originally wanted to get Bo Bo Cha Cha since it was a popular dessert dish but they ran out already :( Pulut Hitam was oh so delicious!!! Highly recommend. The dish consists of black glutinous rice pudding with drizzles of coconut cream. I inhaled this bowl of dessert even though I was already so full lol I think there was also a few pieces of dried longan fruit. They also make some Chinese , Filipino, and Thai dishes as well. Quaint Family-owned Malaisan restaurant located in a strip shopping center. There was ample parking. This was my first time trying Malaisan food. It was nutritious and delicious. I had the roti. I also had a coconut bubble tea. The tea was a cross between a smoothie and bubble tea. The tapioca bubbles tasted different than any I tried before. We were visiting Chicago area for a cousin's wedding. We brought leftovers from the rehearsal dinner the night before. We ordered a couple plates Mongolian chicken, sweet and sour chicken, sesame beef, sesame chicken, orange chicken, shrimp fried rice,egg rolls and curry puffs. Now the sweet and sour was different but very delicious I enjoyed it and it was one of my favorites. The Mongolian chicken the best one I had. This dish was amazing and recommend it to anyone who eats here. The shrimp fried rice was different. They use large shrimp and toss in five to six large shrimp and the rice is a different style but it was good. They only have two tables inside one for four people and one for six people. The owner grabs water from sink and then puts it in his filtered jug. This comes with a drink, a choice of rice, and a vegetable spring roll, which is a pretty big plate full of stuff. Have the fried or steamed rice, or an upgrade to brown rice is available. Vegetables include peppers and tomatoes. Also check out more authentic choices. They have some things like bao that are less common around here. Good place for Asian food. Takeaway: The best Malaysian food in the Chicagoland area without a doubt Context: Have been here around a half-dozen times for lunch - all dine-in This place is the definition of a hidden gem - Chicagoland's best kept secret. It's the kind of spot that deserves to have a line out the door each and every day. I have had incredible meals every single time I've been here and would highly recommend to just about everyone. The service is also great - I always feel like I'm dining at my aunt's house with the degree of hospitality. A few of my favorites include: Hainan Chicken (9/10) The best version of this I've had around here. Poached chicken topped with cilantro and served in a soy sauce with chili sauce, ginger, and (surprisingly) a perfectly paired rice dish - perfect texture (almost basmati-like) and a wonderful complement to the other sauces on the plate. The chicken always has a great cook - tender and the skin adds that additional texture and fattiness you'd hope from it. Love this one! Crab Meat Egg Drop Soup (8.5/10) Pretty simple dish - exactly what the name of this soup might suggest - it's really just a great version of it. The thickness, umami, piping hot heat, and veggies just basically create an ideal egg drop soup. Char Koay Teow (9.5/10) Stir fried rice noodles with chives, bean sprouts, egg, and a choice of protein ( I went with chicken here) in a soy sauce-adjacent sauce. It sounds simple and it is - but that's completely fine for me. This reminds me of the street food noodles in Asia - incredibly straightforward while being delicious and satiating - my favorite kind of food. Flavor is exactly what I want it to be, smokey, salty, and umami, with the time-forged wok flavor that you can't fake. Protip: Ask for the chili paste / oil (they're different here) and put it on everything!!! read more

Lots of Yelpers agree, HD Cuisine is seriously good and I'm here to give probably the 100th thumbs up to agree with this. While the Chinese food here is pretty good, you need to try the non-Chinese items which in my opinion is the true specialty here that gives you the best flavor. Make sure to try the mango sauce Shrimp which has a great balance of sweet and savory, with about the right amount of acid to give a little of bite. The penang char koay teow has a nice umami with the searing of the soy sauce and egg combined with nice and bouncy rice noodles. The nasi lemak is worth it for the delicious chicken rendang. You can really taste the star anise, cardamom, lemongrass, and coconut milk which provide a restrained spiciness with a very full bodied flavor and very tender chicken. If you need some vegetables, the gailan is cooked nice and tender with a strong flavor of garlic that infuses itself well into the leaves. The chef-made pork belly is nicely roasted and simply flavored with bean sauce, supported by leeks, carrots, and onion that give it a nice earthy flavor. Though it could probably be a little more tender, I didn't mind the firmness that matched well with the firm tofu. Overall, come here if you want to experience amazing flavors of South-east Asia. They do a great job of providing lots of options you don't find in other local restaurants which give you the ability to try something new and exciting. read more

I was crying with joy coz everything tasted so authentic! we only had a few dishes...but everything was delightful..the Indian pancake, char kuoy teow (sub for duck egg), ayam musak kicap. The pho is really good too...not water down or sweet like some places here... small place with only one white table for dine in... The owner said they will have the but-gu-tek in the winter! :) read more
