Spicy stir fried pork belly and Kimchee topped with tofu
Cherry O.

This place seriously never disappoints. We tried the brisket bbq for the 1st time and it was great and at the end our server asked if we wanted to make fried rice with the leftovers. That was the finale of the meal and it was so delicious.

Banchan (fishcake, kimchi, beansprouts+cucumber, and radish?)
Kangni X.

There is a lot of love about this place but the flavors are inconsistent. The vibes and decor are great. They have the call button and do respond quickly if you press it. The banchan and complimentary fishcake were great. I ended up finishing my rice with just the banchan as my pairing. The pupae soup was an adventurous move for me. It wasn't bad, met expectations. Crunchy shell some hot soup. Had very earthy tones. Not sure if the soup method boils out the pupae too much. Might be better as a fried pupae dish. The beef intestines hotpot was disappointing. I let the soup reduce as much as I could but no flavor ended up in the noodles, radish or intestines. It seemed to lack salt. The soup mostly tasted of chili that didn't have depth. The biggest issue was with the beef intestines themselves. Difficult to chew and absorbed no flavor from the soup. The worst part was that there was a bitter aftertaste. I personally love getting intestines in various forms but this dish showed minimal preparation of the intestines. It seemed like the ingredients were just added raw to this pot and hoped that it would come together. The waitress did say the intestines usually don't absorb much flavor but I couldn't get over the bitter aftertaste. Seems like a poor choice to put intestines in a soup if it doesn't absorb flavor. The inconsistency comes when you compare the intense flavors of the banchan with the salt lacking hotpot and pupae. Shouldn't food be more salty if it's intended for people who are drinking soju?? I wasn't drinking and the main dishes tasted bland to me.

Spicy Chicken and Cheese

I was told by a friend of mine that the food was pretty traditional and came here with my Korean girlfriend to try it out. Unfortunately, it wasn't traditional. We had corn cheese, seafood soup, and the spicy chicken and rice cake dish. The corn cheese was as expected, but the spicy chicken dish had no flavor. It didn't even have the spice that was in the name. All I could taste was cheese. We were very disappointed in this because we make similar dishes at home the way my girlfriends mom and grandma make it. The seafood soup had an okay flavor, but there were only 3 tiny pieces of seafood inside of a huge bowl of soup. It was far overpriced for what was received. The restaurant was pretty empty, so service was fast, at least, and they even were nice enough to lend us a charger for the ports at the table. I understand that this is a Korean bar, but I've had much better experiences and food in Korean town in LA at Korean bars. We will not be coming back.

Squid oyster and pork belly

Love coming here for some good Korean food. I love their Korean fried chicken, unfortunately I was so hungry that I forgot to take a picture of that! But I'll try and add a picture the next time I go, as I think their fried chicken is one of the best compared to other Korean chicken places in the area. Also ordered their squid oyster and pork belly dish which was delicious. The combination of those 3 work oddly well together and everything was cooked perfectly. The service is always on point as they have a bell system which makes it so much easier to get your servers attention without having to wave anyone down. Everyone is always really nice and welcoming. Love the decor here as well, reminds me of some of the small places I would go to when I lived in Korea as well.

I don't know much about Korean food, but I can say that I know what's considered good. And this place seems legit. There were a lot of Koreans here, which makes me think it's authentic. We got off on a bad start, as I stood there, with the staff paying no attention to me for a few minutes. Other customers came later, and the staff acknowledged them with their order. Until I spoke up, I may have stood there even longer. Finally getting a seat near the back, we were told that we couldn't grill, as the designated spots were taken. We ended up ordering a couple of orders of bulgogi and Spicy Rice Cake with Seafood. Overall, a solid 4 out of 5 meal. BATHROOM REVIEW: Located, well, right next to us, the bathrooms are hidden behind a main door. Go to the right, and you got your mens bathroom, which consisted of a urinal and toilet. Somewhat cramped, but it got the job done. Sit or squat? Squat.

First time here and I'm still learning more about Korean food overall. Came with a party of 6 for a friends birthday party. I really liked it, lots of food on the menu and this is street food from my understanding as its not the typical Korean bbq spot. Best to come with a group to really enjoy different dishes. Lots of unique items on the menu, not for the faint of heart if you aren't into different animal parts or spice. Otherwise, def recommend if you want to go outside the norm and try something new and different, Korean food is the way to go. Come with a group since portions are large and its not a cheap menu, runs from avg $12-$30 per item, so its meant for sharing. Reminds of the last time I was in LA having Korean street food. Get the beer and soju since it pairs well with everything. Nice and efficient wait staff. Small spot, so you can expect to wait when its busy. Probably seats no more than 3 groups of 5 then smaller booths for 2-3.

We ordered fried chicken wings, fried dumplings, rice cake, knife cut noodles, and seafood knife cut noodles. Overall food is not tasty. Fried chicken wings just taste old. Knife cut noodles broth is very thin. It's not tasty at all. We paid over $80 and felt not satisfied. Would I come back again? Probably not.

My Korean friend found this place and suggest me for the street food style restaurant. Free Fish cake soup offered. Spicy chicken is my must order. Fried chicken is crispy outside and juicy inside. Ohh, don't forget the ~ Friend made me a fully covered cheesy spicy chicken.

I loved this place!! I hadn't eaten dinner and didn't want to cook so decided to see what was open on a Monday night. Thankfully this place came up and seeing all the good comments made me feel like it was a solid choice. It certainly lived up to the precious experiences from y'all. I walked in and was immediately attended to. They were packed on this Monday night, and the staff was so apologetic for the wait, which was barely 5 minutes. Once I was seated, they gave me a complimentary rice cake (??) for having to wait. I found this so endearing, especially considering that a barely 5 minute wait is nothing compared to other wait times. It really set the mood and the appetizer was delicious and warm. The banchan came next and had green apple soju alongside it. Always a fan of the banchan and that they restock it if asked. I ordered the Korean army stew since I had seen some great reviews for it. And when it came out, I just knew it was going to be a great dinner. The stew was hot hot hot so waited a bit to start on it, but golly was it delicious with the right level of spice to clear all my nostrils and maybe even depression, and to combat the chilly night. Huge shout out to the waitress that attended me because she was always so nice and sweet, would check in with me at the right times, and having gone there by myself, made me feel so welcomed. Will definitely come back sooner than later!

My friends and I went here after the SUGA/AgustD concert in nearby Rosemont. It was such a wonderful experience and the server was great. The food was amazing. The restaurant is on the small side but that is what makes it so wonderful. Would go again,

The sushi isnt impressive but no one cares... theres a tub of sesame oil and just so many fun things you cant explore in one visit... the earlier you get there for lunch (11am) the more pretty the buffet looks. We left at 1pm and it looked pretty disheveled by then... after the crowds ran thru. The hotpot dishes come out in small batches so double up on the proteins you like because service is slower when its busy. Might be 10m before you get that second plate of brisket or 2oz salmon sliver or filet and 2x galbis... save room for dessert... everyone was stuffed by the 2 hour table limit. Decor is pretty nice and a massive upgrade from Rack House... the courtyard should be great when the weather gets nice. The meat selection was good. The grill and personal heating hot plates for individual soups was a love hate relationship. I loved that everyone had their personal hotspot, but because there was both the grill and all the individual pots, the table space was very cramped. Also, the space between tables was so tight that every time a person from the next table over would get up, we would get shoved in our seat. I loved that there were so many soup bases to choose from. I was not happy with some of the staff. Particularly staff that were refilling the buffet of vegetables and ingredients. There was one in particular that would literally push her way to the trays without saying excuse me or anything. She threw metal tongs across the trays. Multiple times, she would physically push people out of the way and barreling her way in between people in line. The layout of the buffet of veggies and ingredients doesn't allow for good flow, so it felt very cramped which made her behavior was very off putting.

My wife, her mom, and I were in Chicago to remember my father-in-law's death anniversary, and my sister-in-law chose Chef Ping's, for our party of nine for a Wednesday lunch. Parking is plentiful and the dining area can seat a lot. We got seated at a large round table in the back room, with a large lazy susan (just need to remember to spin it very slowly). We ordered a lot, and the food came out slowly. There was plenty of leftovers for the local folks to have for future meal or two. 3 Shrimp Toast (6 pieces each) - $26.85 - greasy but good, with the shrimp paste being a little sweet (in a good way) Noodle in Black Bean Sauce ($12.50) - this is jja jang myeon, which two of us had the previous night. It was OK, not near the top of the best I've had. Ping's Noodle Soup ($15.50) - the other classic Chinese-Korean dish, this is jjampong, a dish I've had many times. I was the only one to eat it, so ended up being my main dish. It was good, with thick noodles...just wish it had more seafood. Salt & Pepper Smelt ($16.90) - not sure if always available, but this was excellent...my favorite dish and one that I finished once I realized that everybody had their fill. It really depends on the quality of the smelt, which was excellent in this case. It was lightly battered, and carefully deep fried. Other dishes enjoyed by others: 2 Salt & Pepper Prawns - $35.90 - large head-on shell-on prawns fire wokked. Salt & Pepper Tofu ($11.50) - for the vegetarians Chicken Skewers (4) - $8.75 - tender and shareable Walnut Shrimp ($19.90) - mayo with shrimp Young Chow Fried Rice ($12.50) - fried rice is a necessity for our group Mongolian Beef ($17.50) - a classic 2 Sesame Ball (4) - $7 - a great way to finish a meal. 18% tip was automatically added, and service was OK throughout. Then the other server that brought our entrees spilled my husbands tea and again no offering to getting a fresh cup. We had to ask AGAIN for a fresh cup! While the portions were generous, the quality of all the food has gone way down. The special family recipe of thier shrimp dish Gan Pong is nothing but fried shrimp with dried chili peppers and no flavor. The Hunan spicy beef and chicken appeared to be all globs and sticky because of excessive and over use of corn starch used during the cooking process. This dish didn't have any unique flavor that one would expect. Previously we had experienced a difference in the food, taste and quality and that's what kept us returning. Sadly, after this experience I wouldn't recommend it to anyone or come back! I'd rather stick with Yu's Mandarin than drive to this place! Quality always wins over quantity in my books!
