    PHO with sliced beef.
    Chris G.

Good food, fair portions, ambiance is ok, this is a strip mall place that is like so many other strip mall dinning establishments. Service was good, prices were higher than expected, not a place I would rush to go back to. The Pho did not have any fresh basil, peppers, or cilantro as is customary with this dish, however the Pho was very delicious.

Just opened in Roselle train plaza! Friendly staff - one stand-out waitress who remembers names and faces when you walk through the door - she really makes it seem like a friendly neighborhood eatery. Food is authentic and well explained on the menu so we could understand what we were ordering! Very good boba tea flavors and varieties too. Favorites so far - crab Rangoon, egg rolls and pitstickers for appetizers - and I prefer the dry noodle dishes over Pho, but had them both and they both had good flavor! Definitely check them out!

Went for breakfast on a Monday morning and was not disappointed. The food was amazing and honestly just what I needed after drinks the night before. The Vietnamese iced coffee also was crucial in getting me through the rest of my day. You are missing out if you have yet to try it.

The food here is so good. We ordered shrimp shumai and brisket pho for our breakfast. Those were so delicious. Also, we got 30% off from the restaurant. We do love the place, it was so nice and clean, and good service as well. We will definitely come back.

Today I came to eat my breakfast and they gave me good free desserts for valentine day very delicious, thank you

The halal chicken Pho is delicious and packed with a generous amount of chicken, the shrimp pancake was delicious and the dipping sauce along side was perfect. The shrimp fried rice had larger pieces of shrimp and more than other places we've had it. The carryout ordering was super easy and our meal was packed nicely. I recommend the extra veggies and extra fried tofu as it is a really nice accompaniment to the chicken pho. The only small drawback is to be sure to order the pancake when you're dining in. The bottom gets soft when they pack it for carryout which can't be helped. It's still very delicious but prefer it there I'd still give it a 10!

The biggest letdown by far was the rice plate. For that price, I expected a decent portion and quality--but instead, I got 4 tiny pieces of beef short ribs that were almost entirely fat with barely any actual meat. It honestly felt more like eating pork belly than short ribs. It just felt like a total rip-off for what you get. I wouldn't recommend ordering that dish at all. The rest of the food was okay, but nothing that would make me want to come back, especially considering the price point. Service was slow. Had to ask for water refills. Restaurant is clean and spacious.

Would love to buy one if they were for sale lol Came here around 3:30 pm on a Thursday. Didn't really get busy until a little after 4pm. The small pho size was the perfect size for me. I couldn't even imagine what the big size would have looked like lol. I chose the brisket and beef meatballs. The broth was so delicious, I honestly didn't need to add any of the sauces. I just added lime and bean sprouts to it, for that refreshing crunch. The brisket was tender and thinly sliced. The avocado boba is the best I've had! I have tried a lot of avocado smoothies from any place that has it on their menu. Not a lot of places offer it either. And if they do, they add way too much sweetened condensed milk. I also like that their boba is soft and if my taste buds are correct, it's taste like it's coated in brown sugar. Only thing I would say is the drink is served warmer than what I'm used to. I do prefer my drinks cold. As for the banh mi sandwiches. I've tried the pork and steak. Personally, I wouldnt re purchase the pork because it wasn't as juicy as the steak. The steak also had more flavor. But besides that, I enjoyed the crispy bread, fresh ingredients and they were not stingy on the meat. Highly recommend this place. I would add it into my rotation whenever I'm craving Vietnamese food. But it will definitely be my new go to spot to pick up my favorite avocado smoothie

I ordered the special pho (#19), which comes with thinly sliced rare steak, brisket, tendon, tripe, cilantro, and onions. I also got the BBQ pork banh mi. The pho was pretty solid. However, I was disappointed with the banh mi. It looked quite different from the menu photo, which, of course, I understand that menu items are created to look their best and don't always come out the same, but this sandwich ended up looking more like a carrot sandwich, and I'm not a fan of carrots. There was only a thin slice of BBQ pork, and the bread was too doughy. The proportions felt off overall, and it was honestly my least favorite banh mi I've tried. I took a bite and ended up giving the rest to a friend who took it home. If I'm in the area, I'd come back for the pho.

I looked up highly rated Vietnamese restaurants and found Tasty House 1 in Carol Stream. This place is everything we anticipated it to be. The location is nice and has parking in front, inside is super spacious and had a relaxing and breathable ambiance. Another appetizer we got separately was the fried calamari which had a great crunchy texture, the absolute best! There is a separate vegan menu with half a dozen things on it, and other than the drinks and desserts, pretty much nothing on the regular menu is vegetarian. (The papaya salad, which is on the vegan menu, is a ringer: it contains fish sauce.) You've got your choice of various fruit lemonades, bubble teas, popping bubble teas, jellies, etc. Desserts include flan, Vietnamese yogurt, coconut jelly - none of which you'll be eating onsite as you'll be too full after your entree. Portions are on the large side - even the papaya salad is a meal. I got the peach lemonade, vegetable spring rolls and the tofu, vegetable and noodles, which turned out to be a soup, basically Vietnamese ramen. The spring rolls are tasty and come with peanut sauce; the vegetable broth was savory with lots of baby bok choy, plenty of noodles and cubes of fried tofu - it was even better with some of the homemade hot sauce, which I highly recommend. The lemonade comes in a bubble tea disposable cup and contains tiny pieces of fruit - very fruity, not very citrusy. Service was friendly and very personable, which helps if you're serving 16 people. All of whom were happy.

My wife, her mom, and I were in Chicago to remember my father-in-law's death anniversary, and my sister-in-law chose Chef Ping's, for our party of nine for a Wednesday lunch. Parking is plentiful and the dining area can seat a lot. We got seated at a large round table in the back room, with a large lazy susan (just need to remember to spin it very slowly). We ordered a lot, and the food came out slowly. There was plenty of leftovers for the local folks to have for future meal or two. 3 Shrimp Toast (6 pieces each) - $26.85 - greasy but good, with the shrimp paste being a little sweet (in a good way) Noodle in Black Bean Sauce ($12.50) - this is jja jang myeon, which two of us had the previous night. It was OK, not near the top of the best I've had. Ping's Noodle Soup ($15.50) - the other classic Chinese-Korean dish, this is jjampong, a dish I've had many times. I was the only one to eat it, so ended up being my main dish. It was good, with thick noodles...just wish it had more seafood. Salt & Pepper Smelt ($16.90) - not sure if always available, but this was excellent...my favorite dish and one that I finished once I realized that everybody had their fill. It really depends on the quality of the smelt, which was excellent in this case. It was lightly battered, and carefully deep fried. Then the other server that brought our entrees spilled my husbands tea and again no offering to getting a fresh cup. We had to ask AGAIN for a fresh cup! While the portions were generous, the quality of all the food has gone way down. The special family recipe of thier shrimp dish Gan Pong is nothing but fried shrimp with dried chili peppers and no flavor. The Hunan spicy beef and chicken appeared to be all globs and sticky because of excessive and over use of corn starch used during the cooking process. This dish didn't have any unique flavor that one would expect. Previously we had experienced a difference in the food, taste and quality and that's what kept us returning. Sadly, after this experience I wouldn't recommend it to anyone or come back! I'd rather stick with Yu's Mandarin than drive to this place! Quality always wins over quantity in my books!
