We'd been wanting to try this place for a while, and we're glad we finally did. It's a cozy Thai restaurant, and you're greeted by a fish tank as you walk in, which adds a nice touch. The staff was friendly, though it would've been helpful if they had asked about our preferred spice level--good thing we followed up. I enjoy spicy food, but not so much that it overwhelms the flavor. They also offer chicken wings, even though they're not listed on the menu. Here's what we ordered: Shrimp Spring Rolls - 4stars Tom Yum Soup - 4stars BBQ Pork Fried Rice - 4stars Pad Thai - 4stars Pad See Ew - 4stars We'll definitely be back to try more dishes!

Lovely spot and delicious food! Small restaurant with booth and table seating. Food tastes authentic and flavorful. I'm pretty picky about Thai food and I would definitely come back here to try more dishes. Service was good and prompt. Highly recommend all the dishes pictured.

The restaurant is very clean, they play music softly in the background. There is plenty of seating (lots of booths and low tables) the tables have a vase with fake flowers but it makes the table look so pretty. I ordered the Tom Kha Veggie Soup (Small) it was very tasty and you can tell it is freshly made and not a mix. I had some Lemongrass tea. My husband ordered the Pad Thai with beef and it was really good! He drank ice water. The prices are a little higher than our favorite Thai restaurant, but definitely yummy! We would definitely dine here again.

We came here for dinner on Friday evening to escape the cold. There was plenty of seating available and we were promptly seated. Our group quickly settled on sharing the soft veggie rolls, Thai fried rice, red curry, and kee mao noodles. Everything was good but I especially loved the red curry. We also appreciated how everything could be made vegetarian and omit things as needed. Our food came out quickly and the service was attentive. We will be back!

Take Out Review! My partner and I have came to Dan Thai a handful of times now. I called around 5pm on a weekday, someone picked up the phone immediately to take our order. I have noticed that the overall cost is slightly cheaper when phoning in to order rather than ordering online; not sure why. Our group got the Basil Duck Fried Rice, Chicken Pad Thai, and Pineapple Fried Rice with Tofu. They do allow one to order with different spice levels: None, Mild, Medium, Hot. We ordered the Basil Duck as Hot and Pad Thai as Medium. The spice level was not extreme but added a nice flavor. Food has always been ready 5-10 minutes prior to the time estimate they give me on the phone so make sure you go early!

DT is probably one of my favorite places to get curry. Normally we get the green curry, but we also get the panang curry too. The curry is creamy, yet light. It's bursting with flavors and the spice creeps up on you. It goes away but then comes back when you eat more. The curry comes out piping hot, but you just keep wanting to eat some more. We picked chicken for the protein and there's plenty of it for one bowl. They did not skimp on that. The Tom yum soup is one of my favorites too. I didn't ask for it to be too spicy because I didn't want to blow my whole palette off before my entree comes. The soup is sour and full of lemongrass flavors, and it's still savory. I had the vegetable one because I wanted more veggies than protein. It's very comforting to eat. Normally we get the pad Thai or the pad see ew, but I ended up trying the drunken noodles. It's actually pretty good. There's plenty of chicken, but I do think that the chicken is a little overcooked and dry. I also go the papaya salad because that's what I was actually craving. I wasn't too much of a fan. The sauce is a little too acidic for me. I feel like it's missing the funk that you normally would get from the papaya salad sauce. The papaya and other veggies itself were pretty fresh. I think it's just the sauce that needs a little rework. We also had the Thai ice tea (not picture). I normally don't really drink Thai ice teas, but this one didn't come out bright orange like some places. It was layered with tea and then the milk at the top. When you milked it, then it started to change to that orange color. The tea wasn't too sweet and it was pretty refreshing. The mango sticky rice finished off our meal. The sticky rice was cooked nicely. The mangoes weren't as sweet, I don't think it was fully ripen. The coconut sauce is def Asian forward bcos it wasn't that sweet at all. We actually would have preferred it to be a tad bit sweeter though.

I've been ordering from Dan Thai for welllll over 10 years and there's a reason why I keep coming back, food is DIVINE! My fiancé and I usually get take out from here but this time we dined in. =) I'm not sure when renovations happened but the place looks fantastic! It's cozy, warm and inviting. I really like what they've done and wish we would have been dining in vs getting take out a lot sooner. On a Friday night this place was paaaaaaccccccked and we loved to see it! Even with a full house the service was fairly quick - towards the end our server didn't check in as much however our food was already on our table and we had full bellies. We don't mind waiting a few extra mins for other tables to get service so we were OK letting the food digest haha. To start we had the steamed chicken dumplings and wow they were fresh, cooked well and were very good. I'm not typically a dumpling person but I'd order these again. Next we had Tom Yum soup with veggies. I think there was too much fish sauce this time but Dan Thai's Tom Yum soup is my favorite, maybe an off day. For our entrees we had the panang curry and basil duck. Both are served with rice. The curry has a lingering spice to it and that's exactly how I like my heat! The basil duck was flavorful and well balanced.

The best pad thai with the most attentive servers. Portion size is good. Ambiance has a relaxing vibes.

This place is pretty tasty, but 4 star is more how I feel about this place after going several times. It's good for the area, but better in the city. The service is good and plenty of free parking is always nice.

Great local place with fresh flavors and attentive service. My daughter and I enjoyed dinner here early on a Friday evening. We did not have to wait for a table but there were at lot of carry out orders. We will return for sure.

Dan Thai is located in a strip mall, right off of Schaumburg Road. The place is medium sized, with a dining area that I would estimate, seats about 45 or so people. There are chairs and tables on the left, and some booths on the right side. The decór here is simple but nice and the overall vibe was good. For those who want the COVID-19 deets, all the staff was properly masked. We were promptly seated as I came here on a Sunday afternoon and it was not too busy. The staff was super nice and attentive. This is what we ordered: Crab rangoon -- order came in five pieces. The size of each crab rangoon was good, with an ample amount of cream cheese. Shrimp rolls -- these came in a pair and had stuffed carrots, lettuce, basil leaves, and shrimp. This was all wrapped in a clear rice paper, served cold. There seemed to also be a hint of lemon grass. The sweet peanut sauce that came with it was great. Tom Yum Soup -- a great soup, for a cold Chicago winter day. It was hot, spicy, and sour. It had lemon grass, mushrooms, and chicken. A decent size for a "cup" portion 5-star chicken -- this dish reminds me of orange chicken. It was breaded chicken, with pineapple, some green and red peppers, peapods, and onions, in a sweet, spicy chili sauce. Basil catfish -- basil catfish is usually my go-to when I'm at a Thai place, so I was excited to try this dish. This dish had slightly breaded, stir-fried catfish, with onions, green beans, and basil leaves. Sadly, this dish was underwhelming. The portion size was rather small. The green beans was slightly undercooked, and the catfish filets were extremely salty. I had to "bland" things down with rice... but it was too salty for me. Overall, food was good still, the service was good, and the overall experience was good. BATHROOM REVIEW: Located past the kitchen, the men's bathroom is private. It has a urinal and toilet, with a hanging sink. This is where they keep their booster seats apparently. Overall, the bathroom was decent and everything seemed to be in working order. Sit or squat? Squat.

Authentic Thai, customizable, extremely vegetarian friendly!! Environment: A small, well lit restaurant with a few booths and a few tables. Some soft music plays in the background, with a lot of joyful chatter from other patrons. The servers are all very respectful and kind; they are very attentive and check on you consistently. They were very quick to acknowledge dietary restrictions and ensured that all of our food was made in a vegetarian friendly way with appropriate substitutions for their classic dishes. Food: For appetizers, we had Vegetable Spring Rolls and Vegetable Rice Paper Rolls. Both were good, but the accompanying sauces is what makes those dishes. The addition of basil to the rice paper rolls gave an aromatic component that made the dish a pleasure to eat. For mains, we tried the Drunken Noodles with Tofu, Pad Thai with Tofu, Cashew Vegetable (originally Cashew Chicken), and Basil Fried Rice with Vegetables. All of their dishes brought comforting, homey, layered Thai flavors. The substitutions didn't feel like they were compromising the dishes integrity and were a 100% joy to eat. All vegetables stayed crisp with perfectly cooked noodles and rice stir fried in. Note: when you ask for spicy, they'll 100% bring the heat; they did not disappoint, which made for an enjoyable meal. Their tofu was average compared to other Thai restaurants, but not as crispy as we've seen. The fried rice, in our option, may have had too much oil, but still was delicious. We would definitely come back for all of the dishes we tried, and assume their curries would follow a similar pattern. Rating: 4.5/5, one of the top Thai places in the Schaumburg area that appears to be a little less known compared to others. A few shortcomings, but can be overlooked by the flavors and attention to the customer experience. A highly recommend if you haven't tried it; we will definitely be back!!

The shrimp fried rice had larger pieces of shrimp and more than other places we've had it. The carryout ordering was super easy and our meal was packed nicely. I recommend the extra veggies and extra fried tofu as it is a really nice accompaniment to the chicken pho. The only small drawback is to be sure to order the pancake when you're dining in. The biggest letdown by far was the rice plate. For that price, I expected a decent portion and quality--but instead, I got 4 tiny pieces of beef short ribs that were almost entirely fat with barely any actual meat. It honestly felt more like eating pork belly than short ribs. It just felt like a total rip-off for what you get. I wouldn't recommend ordering that dish at all. The rest of the food was okay, but nothing that would make me want to come back, especially considering the price point. Service was slow. Had to ask for water refills.
