We had a great meal at big bowl celebrating my mom's birthday. The service was fairly quick. Most of us went with the make your own stir fry option. You pick your protein and noodle type, then fill a bowl with your veggies, and wait for the chefs to cook it and it is brought to your table. It was a large serving that lasted me two meals. Yummy spot to bring the whole family! We ordered crab rangoons and I had the beef and broccoli with pad Thai noodles. Crab rangoons had a good amount of filling. The beef and noodles were delicious. I wish the broccoli was cooked more. It was hard to eat it. Because it wasn't as soft. The menu has good variety options so am sure everyone will find something they like. I had such a delicious meal from this restaurant. I had a small order of the chicken wonton noodle soup, and WOW! It was soooooooooo delicious without being over salty, and adding the house-made chili sauce made this P E R F E C T. The wontons were so plump and delicious, I adored the broth, really it was so good. I ordered the 7-ingredient chicken and WOW was that delicious too! It's spicy, basil-y, fresh, and very satisfying. Been a while since I was at Big Bowl since our last experience was not too good. We decided to give them another try. Went on a Sunday for a late lunch. It was not too crowded and we were seated immediately. Last time we did the Stir Fry "Do it Yourself" Bowl so this time we decided to order off the menu. We would totally recommend doing this. Their menu is huge plus they have a Gluten Free menu! Started with a Sapporo Draft Beer and a Pomegranate Sangria. Tasty drinks but prices are a little high in my opinion. My wife had the Gluten Free Beef and Broccoli and I had the Teriyaki Shrimp Fried Rice. Portions are huge and the meals came out hot and both were very flavorful. Plenty of parking available. If you are coming to Big Bowl, you are not looking for authentic Chinese food. I think Big Bowl does a good job for the type of restaurant they are. I still enjoy their sesame peanut noodles, wonton noodle soup, and chicken gyoza despite the fact that the sesame peanut noodles aren't authentic, wonton noodle soup is a dumpling with thick noodles instead of egg noodles, and chicken gyoza is really just a potsticker. A word of advice is try to get the sauces on the side or else the entrees/dishes become very salty. I know they try to cater to the western palette, but even for a western palette I think it's overly salty. Once you get the sauce on the side, the food tastes good and the ambiance isn't bad. The service is also good enough. Every now and then when I have a craving, I'll still come visit Big Bowl. Oh yeah, they also offer a do it yourself stir fry, which is nice. Coming to the Mean Streets of Woodfield can be dangerous. I once knew a man who was jailed for jaywalking. Ok that's not true but we did need a spot for Sunday dinner before the TS movie at the AMC. This fit the bill since we had a short window before showtime. If you see most of my reviews, most are not chain restaurants however this was a nice experience where the staff was friendly and the food wasn't that bad! It wasn't the greatest Thai food I've ever had but it was fine and surprisingly not too salty. I did the Pad See Ew with Beef which had generous slices of juicy beef. Pretty great value for these your own stir fry. I got the chicken along with the Chinese noodles. You get the chance to go and select the veggies and sauce. I went with the kung pao which was flavorful and had a nice spice. Overall it's somewhat pricey but the quality and quantity was excellent. I had enough for leftovers the next day. The ginger ale both pomegranate and regular are okay, along with the veggie potstickers which were mediocre. I am actually a bit surprised how much I liked this place. Its been awhile since I have been to this place, but we feeling "Americanized Chinese". Yeah, this place isn't exactly authentic, but everything I ate was excellent. We started with the eggrolls, crab rangoons, and the special short rib potstickers. All of the apps were outstanding. The server brought over some chili sauce which was a nice touch. I especially liked the crab rangoon which was the perfect amount of cream cheese and crunch. For dinner, I went with the Thai Chili Shrimp which had a lemon sauce that won me over at the end. I thought it was a little tart, but when I mixed it up, it was perfect. Its also a slow burn so learn from my mistake and wait to put the chili sauce on there. We ended with a flourless chocolate cake which was surprisingly good. It reminded me of the cake that L Woods used to make fresh. The service was good, but was basic Lettuce Entertain You faire (which still is a high mark). We had a group of 6 for a family lunch before a movie on Black Friday. I had not been to Big Bowl in many many years years. This was a great centrally located location. The menu is either different than I remember (very possible) or it seems smaller. But what I remember and wanted was the Stir Fry Bar, that is what I got and my wife got General Tso's chicken. I got the "Prime Beef" with my stir fry and it was really good, tender and flavorful. I got the Sichuan sauce and added a bunch of dried peppers, so I got some decent heat. The portion size for the price was ok, I finished it. The vegetables are fresh and cooked crisp tender and I got the premium chow fun noodles which were ok, but not browned as I expected and just pale and sticky....just kinda warmed up, i would not recommend. This is the second big bowl location I've been to. I only give it 3 stars because the first location gave me more meat and this when I could've used more. Some of the dishes didn't really hit the spot. However, the service staff was so nice and I could tell they were busy so for them to be nice and attentive was awesome. I got the sesame chicken with chow fun noodles. I wish that the noodles didn't stick together, so it would be easier to get a bite of both the noodles and the sesame chicken and maybe some of the veggies included with it. The chicken and peanut eggrolls aren't bad. I wasn't able to taste the peanut in them though. The dipping sauces were good. The beef and broccoli had a strong ginger taste, and I'm not crazy about that because I'd rather taste more of the sauce and the beef but if you like ginger than this is for you.
