5 stars for the Crazy Crab in Streamwood. I went on a Thursday night where they have buy one get one crawfish and mussels and clams. It wasn't too crowded inside, our server was very friendly, and I liked the decor where guests can draw with crayon on the walls/tables and seats. I ordered all 3 flavors of sauce with insane heat level for my seafood boil bag, it was delicious. The insane heat level isn't too spicy, but I might have a higher level of tolerance more for spice. This is a messy meal - there are tons of sinks to clean up at afterwords and they give you bibs and gloves - definitely recommend using those when eating. Come only on the specials days otherwise it's too expensive. I will definitely be back for the Thursday deal. read more

I Paid for Ice, Got Screamed At, and Left Hungry I used to LOVE Crazy Crab. I've been a loyal customer for last 6 years and always enjoyed the food -- but after my last experience, I feel cheated, disrespected, and honestly, disgusted. I placed a to-go order for 6 pounds of seafood: 2 lbs snow crab 2 lbs king crab 2 lbs shrimp The bags with the food were super light, so I decided to weight them, and guess what- I only received about 4 pounds total -- and that's INCLUDING the bag and the butter. Turns out, they weigh the seafood while it's still frozen -- ice and all -- and after it's cooked, you end up with way less actual food. This is NEVER mentioned on the menu, and when I order 6 pounds of food I expect I will bring home 6 pounds, not 4. Be aware You're paying for water weight, not real portions. That's sneaky and unacceptable. And when I brought this up, the manager Johnny -- instead of listening -- started screaming at me. His attitude was aggressive, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. He promised me a refund, and surprise -- it never happened. I have found a go-to spot for seafood with a great vibe! I usually go with friends and family. I like ordering crabs, crayfish, shrimp, clams, and mussels. It's a flavorful feast. Delicious food with great flavors. The garlic, spice and butter sauces are beyond good! I would buy this by the jarful.... and the seafood was fresh. Service can be a bit better. However, all seafood comes in 1 lb. increments. I wish they would change this to 1/2 lb., so you can mix and match to create combos. Otherwise, it really starts to get pricey..... I had the crawfish with potato and corn, and it was out of this world good! The garlic noodles are too die for! So buttery and garlicky. The Beignets are very good as well. They are on the smaller side, but you get 6. They come out hot with powdered sugar (i think)...... I was in heaven (and I'm not a big dessert person), that I would stop by just to get an order or two to take home. This was the closest seafood boil place near where we were staying. We got their 3 lb seafood bundle with the Cajun sauce medium spice. We also got their garlic noodles. For their seafood boil it was super buttery but not a lot of flavor. Their seafood was okay not super fresh. For there garlic noodles I wouldn't get again it also wasn't flavorful and needed salt and pepper. Server was good they gave us everything we needed. I haven't been this disappointed by a restaurant in some time. From service to presentation and quality of food, this is not a place I'd recommend to a friend. My $65 King Crab legs were placed in a bag with seasoning. I'm told they were steamed, but they weren't airy and hot like the tables around us. I'd ordered them with all 3 sauces. No one shook it up, nada. The leg was a nice size, but if we weighed it, I don't feel like it was as large as they say. The crackers were helpful, but the leg was soggy, wet, and blah. My husband doesn't eat seafood but came to keep me company. He was disappointed at his menu options, there were no burgers or chicken sandwiches. He did order onion rings, which come with a crispy crunchy Cajun spice, not listed on the menu. So those were sent back and he ordered garlic noodles. The customer's artwork on the wall is the main focal point of the decor. I think it's creative and innovative marketing. It will encourage customers to return and check to see if their work is still visible. I would appreciate it if they could turn down their hip hop playlist because conversing with someone can be difficult. The beignet here is round rather than square. It's airy and fluffy. I enjoy it since it is somewhat sweet, which I prefer in all deserts. Fried oyster basket with crinkle fries was hot and fresh when it arrived. The serving is fairly big. The fried oyster batter was unseasoned, but a cocktail sauce was provided as a dipping sauce to give it some taste. We got a combination sampler, which is 3 lbs of a good selection of seafood. It has crawfish, clams, shrimp, mussels, crab legs, corn, potatoes, and sausage. The sauce was tasty, and it really brought out the flavors of the other ingredients. The service was fast, and the food was hot. The server is insufficient. I had to hunt him down just to get a refill, and he was unaware of us after he finished serving the food. This is a 4 star just because out server was wonderful. The food i would rate it 3.5 and I will explain why. The Fried Oysters was really good. I would recommend it. It came with so much fries but i didnt like their fries. Calamari its a bit bland and I didnt like the texture of the breading so much. I ordered a lb of shrimp head on. Mixed of 3 saucea and spicy level 2nd to the not spicy. I kinda forgot what its called. I like the sauce and theres just a kick to the spiciness thats perfect. What i didnt like to much was the tables and chairs its uncomfy and i cant stay long to chat and or take my time to eat coz my tushy was suffering. Our latest indulgence the last few weeks have been Cajun broil shrimp (though not pictured because we dove right in and killed it ) but the appetizers at Crazy Crab are quite delicious and are pictured. Come on Wednesdays for $1 raw oysters which are good size and full of juice. I can have dozens of these (one of my most craved foods both times I was pregnant). I'm a big fan of their calamari rings $9 which are so scrumptious. It's especially great if you're not a fan of tentacles. The garlic noodles $7.50 are also delicious and serves as a great carbohydrates to the seafood broil. Our favorite broil sauces are Lemon Pepper with the Shrimp $19/ lb (for devein and headless) and Cajun Spice with mussels and clams $15/ lb mixed in with potatoes and sausages (0.75/ each) . On Thursdays, it's B1G1 deal for either mussels or clams. We usually end up with a bag of leftovers that we can turn into another dish the next day. It's not your cheapest meal being seafood after all, but you do get filled up with the sides and you can take the sauce and leftover remake it into something else such as seafood pasta. They're often busy on the weekends but have weekdays specials Monday - Thursday, and it's walk-in only daily. However, they are great at social distancing tables, sanitize after every guest, and require that masks be worn when not at the table. My first review of this place was in their early days. We really liked the food, service, ambience, and overall value. We went back recently (March of '23), and the food, service, and ambience has all gone down. Ambience - The writing on the walls thing got out of hand, and nobody seems to care. The place looks dumpy. The music being played was a bit loud, and NOT our style. Service - In the early days, the servers were definitely invested in the place, and were energetic, informative, and attentive. In the recent visit, the service wasn't " bad" as such... just average. Food - OK, the food hasn't gone down in quality, it's OK. Of course I'm not expecting gourmet food here, but the drop in ambience and service just makes the food less enjoyable. read more

Also the crab legs were 61.00 but the manager to me his boss never allows more than 30% refund! You took 80 of my money but I only get 30% ? I refuse to ever eat there again! I'm more than capable of paying any amount as long as it good! I want nothing for free but.... When you are wrong just stand up and say it! I will tell my daughter and anyone else I know to spend money like that at Shaws or Cooperhawks or Just high end ! Shame on you ! This is a eat-with-your-hands restaurant. Think fish boil indoors. Wooden tables covered in white paper. Plastic bibs, paper towels, paper bowls and a plastic fork for serving are set on the table after you place your order. Water and soft drinks are served in plastic cups with lids and a straw. Music is VERY loud. Decor is minimal, nautical. Ink and marker scribbles and names are written on all the tables, chairs, walls and all around the restrooms. Messy and tacky. Quick service. Friendly and attentive staff. They walk you through the menu and roam around asking if you need anything while you are enjoying your meal. Eat your heart out and have fun getting messy. Then walk over to the washing station in the back corner. Several deep sinks, no touch soap, and LOTS of paper towels. We ordered a 3 lb sampler pot and a pound of crawfish. Plenty of food for a family of three. Plenty of juicy clams, shrimp, mussels, crawfish, 2 crab legs, 2 potato halves, 2 corn cob halves all sitting in a giant see through bag with Cajun seasoning, garlic, lemon and spices. Lots of fun! We came in (a family of three) and we were unsure what to expect. Tables with paper on them, loud music playing, and tables filling up fast. We decided to stay and really liked it. This is not a place to wear your favorite outfit as you are reaching into a plastic bag and pulling out seafood. Juices are squirting, dripping down your hands, etc. They have washing stations and hand sanitizer (which you will need) but you will have a great time! We decided on the Sampler Pot, which had some crawfish, 2 crab legs, whole shrimp, shrimp tails, 2 pieces of sausage, 2 potatoes and 2 pieces of corn (it was probably better for 2 people). We ended up ordering an extra pound of crawfish (which are good but it takes a lot to satisfy you). My wife and son ate the corn and I had one potato plus a sausage. We ended up doing all three seasonings at a #2 spice level (I like spicy and this was oerfedt Everything tastes great and the table is a disaster when you get done, but I would come back next week. Update. Dining in is worth it. Picking up. You're always taking a chance. I don't eat pork or chicken. I rarely eat beef. So seafood is what I mainly eat. I love the flavor and location is convenient. Plus I like the owner and some of the servers and workers. They don't know who's ordering when other people have to order for you. What are you gonna do? How can this be fixed? I have so many other pictures but didn't want to keep posting or weighing. I've gotten so used to knowing an "off" bag. Crazy Crab truly is a gem for anyone who appreciates Cajun-style seafood. The flavors here are simply unmatched. We ordered the Crazy Pot "I love hot" style. It's a pd of shrimp, clams, crawfish,mussels and 1 cluster of crab legs. I was disappointed because how do you expect a two person to share 1 cluster of crab legs? The shrimp was way over loaded. Didn't seem like the seafood was 3 pds in total as advertised. Sausage tasted weird, corn and potatoes were good. I have to say the sauce was delicious. We've been dying to get to a crab boil place since our last time over 3 years ago. Crazy Crab was the only dine-in during this Phase of COVID, so we popped in for a date night. There was plenty of seating. Friendly staff. And it's one of those draw-on-the-walls types of places, like Gino's East. So, bring a Sharpie and leave your mark. They were out of dungeness crab, which I wanted to try, AND lobster, so I was a little bummed. I ended up ordering snow crab and added on a piece of sausage for $0.75, because I knew crab alone wouldn't fill me up. I should have added on a potato as well, because it still wasn't enough. I love having all 3 flavors in my bag - definitely recommend it. I love that you can pick your heat level of spice as well. Mine was the perfect level of heat. The flavor was delicious! My husband got crawfish and shrimp in 2 different bags with 2 different sauces. He loved everything, but was not to thrilled with how many crawfish claws he got (a huge handful), so there wasn't a lot if meat in that bag. There is a washing station in the dining area, so you can clean up, because it can get messy!! All in all, we enjoyed our meal, but still had room to go get ice cream afterwards. read more

This will run us about $150. It's definitely not cheap. But we love the spice and flavor. You can expect a very casual atmosphere. The tables are lined with paper. And you can ask for sharpies to write on the walls. Food comes served in big plastic bags. No plates. Only plastic ware and paper boats used for plates. Crazy crab... "seafood boil". This type of seafood has been taking the US by storm! It's all over. This place does it right! The Cajun sauce is right on and the price is decent. Expect to pay $80-$100 or more for two people. If you are not spending enough, you are not getting the full experience. This is the first time being here but back home in Michigan we go seafood boil eating often. This is like eating steak and it can be enjoyable when done right. This place does not give you any garlic in your sauce but some places do, some don't. If you have not eaten this type of food, you will be surprised. It's really good if you like seafood. I've been Nawlins,, ate shrimp and crawfish boil there. Then there's a spot in Vegas synonymous to Hot and Juicy. I still have yet to go to Boiling Crab. Then there's this guy. Seems to be representing the crustacean type boil of the Midwest. My cousin surely gave the honorable mention. So off we go. Same deal,, you sit down, you order by the pound and you eat. You can get buckets of beer to refresh yourself while eating. You can even do add-ons to your boil, like corn and sausage. If you're all about eating spicy food. Do order their hottest butter sauce. I didn't find it super hot, so did my husband who's not really a spice connoisseur like me. We had 2 lbs of shrimp with the extra lbs free. So that makes it three. And 1 lbs of crawfish just to see how they do theirs. Both the shrimp and the crawfish were phenomenal. It's pretty much all in the sauce. We also did orders of rice and drizzle the garlic butter all over it and stick that in your mouth. I would definitely eat here again. The food was really good and the service was amazing as well.
