We looked up places that were dog friendly. When I showed up I was told that sitting on the front patio was the appropriate place. 15 to 20 minutes and no one came out. I don't care how busy you are, no one should have to wait that long to even be acknowledged. We went to Taco Time instead and had way better service. read more

Are you really happy to see a place like this open up around here? Stoked to get a growler fill, maybe have some ribs? Than you can easily round this up to four stars. On the other hand, are you someone who tries every BBQ joint around, or will gladly drive half an hour to check out a cool beer spot? Then you can probably round this down to two stars. It really depends what you're looking for. It's actually tough to give this place a middling grade, and even tougher to encourage people to think twice ever after that. They're the nicest people, they're open to customer feedback, the prices are not for the most part horrible, and they're really proud to be here, and really happy to have the success they're having. And make no mistake, they're very successful already. We came in on a Friday night and the place was packed wall to wall. Even inside, I think we got the only table available. So what's going on here? It's a good sized space on the corner of a strip mall setup right on the highway. There's a big supermarket next door, huge parking lot, plenty of other businesses. So the whole town knows this joint is here, and judging by appearances, it seems like everybody was here Friday night. One of the manager guys stopped by our table and said they are blowing 6 or 7 half-barrels (full kegs) a day. That's insane. I have no way of verifying that, but he said they fill tons of growlers every day, to go with all the pints they pour, and they had to send one of the bartenders out to different distributors last week, hustling for kegs, just because they wouldn't have been able to keep up if they only waited for deliveries. Damn. They have 25 taps, a couple of which are cider. And they do fill those growlers, we watched several go out the door. They aren't pouring geeky stuff or imported stuff, and only a few high-ABV beers. But, man, they pour every local brewery they can get their hands on, and they have multiple bartenders scrambling just to keep glasses full. There's a big patio out front, and they keep the light flowing inside. They have two long walls of floor to ceiling windows, and they arrange the furniture well so the place doesn't feel weighted down. There are a few flat screens showing the game, and they stained a bunch of plywood planks themselves to give the place a cool shack feel. Seats about 100 or so, split evenly between the patio and the inside. Kitchen in back, bar along one of the outer walls. It still looks brand new, but it's so packed that it feels like it could have been here a while. They have flat screens up on two walls, listing all the beers on tap. They have so many that you're better off either walking right over to the bar to be able to make out the letters, or just calling it up on your phone. They change so fast they don't even try to print tap lists. The BBQ menu is one little 5x7 card, almost seems like an afterthought, but they're kinda known for their 'cue, so it's funny how understated it is. It's pretty much ribs and sides, though I might have forgotten about a brisket or some other entrée. The ribs were not quite tender, but the dry rub was pretty good. Mild spice to it. The bbq sauce comes out in a squeeze bottle; tastes like treetop apple juice and a few other spices. It's also OK. The baked beans have at least half a dozen different types of beans in 'em, all different colors and sizes. Never seen anything like that. They tasted OK; had some chunks of bacon in there, too, which was nice. The cole slaw left at least ¼" of sauce at the bottom of the dish, but it had pretty good seasoning and wasn't just chopped cabbage. The smoked cheese was kind of a disaster, but it didn't seem like they usually make it the way it came out Friday night. There's a bed of toasted cashews, which are nice and herby (visible chopped leaves clinging to the nuts), and then little diced cubes of white cheese on top. The cheese seemed like they might have just run out of what they usually use, and run over to the supermarket next door real quick. And it didn't seem smoky so much as...air dried. They listened sympathetically, though, and took it off the bill. Ribs (with two sides included) and two beers were about $36 after tax. Pretty good price. You can definitely do well with a few beers here--they're absolutely pouring non-stop. Most of the bartenders and servers seem pretty new to the beer business, so it's not such a great place to ask detailed questions, but the beers are there, pouring through a clean system, and the prices are fair. read more

I came here with a large party and they accommodated is nicely in the outdoor patio. Everyone in our party tried different menu items and I was lucky enough to sample a lot of things. I loved everything I tried, especially the Philly cheesesteak, chicken fried steak, and the very rich Mac n cheese. Everything was reasonably priced and everyone in our party had a truly delightful experience. Apparently they have an auxiliary paper menu in addition to their regular menu that has new items every week, so there's always something new to inspire your palate. Although I'm not a beer or wine fan, most in my party were and I heard nothing but rave reviews from them about selection and quality. We came on a Saturday night and they had live music followed by a karaoke DJ who was fun and engaging. The ambiance inside is more like a fun local sports bar with lots of big screens, but outside has a different vibe. There were string lights and gorgeous fire pits with bench seating and even some Adirondack chairs. This really sets Route2 apart! The staff is very welcoming and did a phenomenal job of accommodating our large party. If I lived here, I would most definitely be a regular here! read more

Nice atmosphere overall however, they recently switched to table only service (whereas before you ordered at the counter), I don't know why - but it changed the dynamic of the place for sure. With the "order at the counter" system, it felt like a brew house, easy going, and way nicer. Now it's a bit more starchy. Came here 01/08/22, my boyfriend & I are on vacation here in Monroe. We were told to sit anywhere we liked, we chose outdoors. Our waitress gave us a menu, said she'd be back in a few minutes to get us our drinks. We continued to wait outdoors for at least 30 minutes waiting just to order our drinks....after waiting for 45 minutes with our tummies growling we decided to leave. The waitress didn't even notice us walk past her as we left, decided to order some delicious food from armarillo restaurant!! I would check out the Amarillo restaurant as they have a much bigger menu selection. I was really excited to try route 2 but after today when I come back to Monroe in a few months I will not be trying to return to route 2. I've never been treated more unwelcoming....Made me leave questioning why I sat outside for 45 minutes waiting just for some drinks to be ordered. read more

My food was decent, it wasn't beyond or under my expectations. Two of us ordered the Aioli bacon burger and felt it should've came with a piece of lettuce or tomato for a better balance. My friend ordered the Class Tap Room burger and didn't get his order until I finished mine. It could be that I was starving and ate mine really fast or that his took significantly longer to come out. Once it did come out, he was excited to chow down. He's literally been talking about having a burger all day! He picks it up and unbeknownst to all of us, the patty fell apart into mini-chunks. We were mighty surprised and unhappy for him. The Sunday chef must've been sleeping or something because the bun itself was also semi-burnt. Since my last review, I have been back in on several occasions and this place has massively gone downhill. There is clearly no passion in the food. Everything is basic, overpriced and less that standard quality. For a taproom, whomever is the beer and wine buyer, has a very bad palate. Decent food. Loved our server she was great. Overall a decent experience. We had prime rib sandwich and cheese steak sandwich. Both had great bread but there needed to be a bit more meat on both. Decent flavor and seasoning. My fries were ok a bit under done which was a bummer. We also had the redneck poutine special. That was a next level of goodness. Had a great experience here after a full day of skiing with friends. Route 2 is right off highway 2 located in a strip mall. It is a relaxed, casual environment full of TVs and big screens. They have a great list of 20+ beers which you can peruse via smart tablet at your table. Their menu is appropriately filled with delicous food to compliment your brew. I had the bacon aoili burger which I highly recommend. I really liked this place because, not only was the food good, they provided great customer service. Our waiters made sure our group got the correct beers, that we had enough fries, and informed us about special discounts like $1.00 off deals during happy hour or if you have your ski pass on you. I also appreciate places that don't charge you a split fee. I'll be back here for sure. read more

Enjoyed our time. Obviously they're working out some kinks: ie running out of sides (running out of the bbq itself at the time we went is OK if you know anything about bbq, but sides should be prepared to spare), bbq was a touch dry, no music when we got here, and only one beer menu (digital on the screen which isn't visible from the whole bar). That said, the service was pleasant, they made up for not having sides by offering complimentary smoked nuts. In terms of beer selection, it was decent, but there are some of my personal fave breweries like Salish, whom were not represented. Only one cider, two red wines, one white. Food is offered by hook & ladder bbq. They were out of a few meat items, but as mentioned before, that's to be expected 2 hours before closing on a Sunday. The items that we had were the bbq sushi (excellent and fun), smoked cashews (also excellent), coleslaw was only ok, beans were good, pulled brisket was a touch dry with a raw (untoasted) bun. Also a little dry were yhe ribs (but the smoke ring was adequate as well as the bark - though could have used a hair more salt in the rub imo). Bbq sauce was good. Wanted to get tots, husband wanted fries or mac, but out of all 3. We sat at the bar, where we think one or more of the owners/partners were working. These two gentlemen were attentive; provided good service. We also observed two female servers who were obviously on their game and not new to their occupation. Interior is clean- as in it's not cluttered with unnecessary items. Bar tops are concrete, and they have some nicely stained ship lap walls accented by corrugated steal wainscoting. Bar stools and chairs are also kind of industrial. It's a nice combo of the vintage and industrial look. The location of this taproom is awesome, they've found a niche in Monroe that hasn't been optimized as of yet. The patio is large and the whole interior is sided by windows. All in all, we'll be back. They do have some areas in which they could improve, but husband and I are certain that they'll get there. Keep up the great work so far guys! read more

Popped in to try this place out. Love the look and feel and decoration! Really love the tablet they give you for all the beers on tap! Simplifies things for the staff and the patrons. Had a burger and salad. To be honest.... it was okay, just ok. It was a burger, I substituted a salad for the fries and the salad was again.... okay. It is time for me to put in my RT 2 cents. RT2 Taproom is an excellent choice for a quick beer, lunch with the whole family or a night out with dinner and friends. The room is bright, welcoming and unassuming. Whether you are stopping by after work or looking for a night out, this Taproom is an appropriate choice. The atmosphere is light and friendly. The décor is mildly industrial somewhat Spartan but warm. All of these accolades are equally present in the staff. The servers, food staff and owners are like an eclectic family that marries well with an equally eclectic customer base. Worthy of a special shout out is Eddy Ray (Chef). The mutable fresh menu is always surprisingly unique and the regular menu is anything but regular. This is no ordinary tap room. The list of quaffable beverages runs the gamut from light bodied biscuity pils, malty ambers, toffee nosed browns, intensely aromatic ipa's on up to properly tapped nitro stouts and porters all served in a "beer-clean" perfectly poured glass. Wife enjoyed her fish. Not so much the chips. They are soft and soggy, which indicates that they were fried en masse and kept in a warmer in a pile to wallow in steam, rather than fried per order. I had the super duper prime rib dip sandwich. I couldn't testify it's not prime rib meat, but it's suspiciously similar to what you get at the deli counter at Safeway up the street. And, I'm pretty sure I got my WEEKLY allowance for sodium. The onion rings, ordered in place of the fries, were very good. I got it all takeout, so I can't comment on the service aspect. The staff, though, seemed very friendly and energetic. But, I gather from the entryway that you get in line to place an order, pay, then somehow a food order will be delivered to whatever table you happen to find. All in all, meh. read more

Stopped here after hiking Wallace Falls. Great selection of beers and a fun, friendly staff (hi LIsa!). I sat at the bar and a couple of the regulars introduced themselves, which was nice. I wish I lived closer, I would definitely spend a lot of time here. I had the Philly Cheese Steak and it was pretty good. This place is amazing. I am from Texas, so I was excited, but worried that the pulled pork Mac and cheese may not be up to snuff. I was worried for absolutely nothing because the menu was beyond all expectations. Delicious Mac and cheese with hearty amounts of pulled pork made this a generous entree (I had ordered it as a side). I also had the chicken fried steak which was heaven. Sometimes a restaurant will have a thin, tough "steak" hidden in a ton of greasy breading and try to pass it off as a chicken fried steak. Not this place, the breading was just enough to give it a crunch and the steak underneath was a generous and good cut of meat. The mashed potatoes were also fantastic with good garlic flavoring. My entree also came with a salad, which is always appreciated. My wife had the cheese steak sandwich and we split plates. Neither her or I wanted to give up our plates to each other, but once we did I discovered a new favorite menu item. The cheese steak was delectable with wonderful beer cheese sauce. The experience was even better with the excellent waitress who served us. Here is the bottom line: I don't know why life has led me on the path it did. Am I destined to fight crime? Will I win an academy award? Will I prove the existence of aliens, big foot, and the Loch Ness monster all in the span of 2 years?
