Well, the burger was a tad bland. I guess Bubba don't use that 80/20 mix with the fat drizzling out for flavor town to kick in... As for my overall experience well FRANK WAS DISAPPOINTED! Let me share with you why cause it's a cautionary tail of laziness and small town stupidity. Ok people let's take a journey. I decided to try a new place to try on a Sunday for a meal. I'd saved Bubbas in my YELP to try list. Now I drove 45 mins just to spend some time and enjoy a Bubba's meal, so I was all in. Well, I grabbed a table in the bar and look at menu. I asked about the country fried steak and the dude taking my order says " NO " claiming it's after 12 and no more. HELLO dude the clock on wall showed 10 mins to 12! It threw me off my thoughts and I ordered a burger m. But after a minute I said gargoyle can I change my order to country fried steak. " NO " is what he then says ( WTF ) really dude. Just cause you imputed into computer which you claimed doesn't mean you can't walk back 5ft to the kitchen and change things for a customer. And with a glib response next he utters "well you can come back for it"! NOT HAPPENING DUDE! Meal comes and well it's no burger worth bragging about. McDonald's has more to offer in the way of taste. So my burger looks great and tastes like a shoe... I finished up and drove off disappointed I now have the drive of shame back to Seattle. After getting stuck in traffic, their sign was a beacon because we were hungry. ATMOSPHERE It is billed as a roadhouse and that is the feel. Fun decor and 70's & 80's music playing was fun. Restaurant was good but the bathroom was very dirty. THE STAFF Every single person we talked to about the menu was very friendly and helpful. But what about the food? THE FOOD The menu was full of great sounding food. The portioning was large. To be honest, I found the food bland. As some seasoning. The burger patty was dry but damn the thing was huge. OVERALL It was okay. If I were to do it again I would pick a more simple burger. read more

My wife and I shared a full rack of "melt-in-your-mouth" ribs with the Carolina sauce. The fries and cole slaw were nothing special, but did the job. Somewhat disappointed to get fries rather than mac & cheese as mentioned in the menu, but I may have misunderstood their questions as I ordered over a poor connection. read more

My friends & I were staying in the area overnight & wanted to go out for dinner. This was just about 10 minutes from our Air B&B so we decided on Bubba's Roadhouse, we'd seen the sign on our way in & since it was close by, we decided to give it a shot, plus a couple of the girls in our group had seen some reviews on Bubba's, they are known for their burgers. The bartender/ server was a nice guy & seated the 7 of us in the cozy dinning area. We needed some appetizers for the table so we got some salad & hot wings for the table(10 in an order). They have a large variety on the menu, great for any size party. One of our friends got a chicken Caesar salad for their order, one of us got the fish & chips...nice big pieces of beer batter dipped fish & 2 of the girls ordered the fish sandwich...it was piled very high & it was very tasty, I got to take a bite of one of them. 2 of the girls ordered burgers, one of our friends' ordered the Hunter Burger which is a huge beef pattie nestled between 2 grilled cheese sandwiches that serve as the bun! We were really excited to see this! Our other friend ordered the Home Wrecker Burger, beef pattie, Swiss cheese, jalapeño peppers, bacon, onion ring & bbq sauce. For $3 more, you can Bubba size your burger but we didn't know what that meant until a little later. I ordered the Chuckwagon Steak which was a hamburger pattie served with mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes & sautéed green beans & carrots, also served with a slice of garlic toast. Everything was tasty, I really enjoyed my Chuckwagon Steak, I really like mashed potatoes & the gravy was really good. Our friend with the crazy burger with the 2 grilled cheese sandwich buns had to deconstruct her burger a little. She took one of the sandwiches off and ate the rest like an open face sandwich. She enjoyed it, I did not taste it. After we finished what we could, the portions are ample here, we asked for some boxes $ our server said..."good thing you don't get the Bubba size" as he was headed towards the kitchen. He then came back out with a huge burger the size of a 4 inch cake! It was pretty high too...about as high as a 3 layer cake. The table behind me ordered 3 Bubba size burgers for 3 separate people...honestly our 7 top could have ordered one & cut it like a cake. I think the guys were able to bite the burger but I'm not sure I could have done the same! Fun place with good eats, I'd definitely go back if I'm ever in the area again. We will 100% be back here because the portions at this place were huuuge and for the price, the flavors and overall vibe were excellent! The service was also good, and they had regulars, which is always a good sign. Ngl, I was a bit weary of stopping here, but we had been craving a good burger after a long hike and were starving. With the little internet service I had, this place seemed like a good idea, and I'm so glad we came in. I feel like it gets poppin' when there's live music or on weekends. What we ordered: -Mountain Man's Feast/Dinner (can't remember the exact name)--I'm not sure if I was starving or something, but I pretty much inhaled this and had to stop myself from finishing it at the restaurant. I took the biscuit and some of the meat to go. This was so good. I was shocked that the server mentioned most folks don't finish this in a one-sitting. Was on a job out in Sultan for a majority of the day - decided on on a whim to grab some food to-go from Bubba's on a Monday afternoon. I'm never in the area, and I'm not really familiar with what Sultan has to offer. Didn't have a much of an opportunity to walk through and explore the place, just needed to put an order in and make it back to work. I'm not sure what the guy's name was (long hair), but I was immediately greeted and helped which was awesome since I was on a time constraint (helped that there was virtually no one else there at the time - I imagine things get pretty busy later at night). I just ordered 2 regular cheeseburgers and fries, and it was about a 5-10 min wait. Let me say, in a world that feels like everyone's got great burgers now, and there's always a new smash burger joint popping up (which I love by the way), the burger and fries really hit. I'd say this is more of a "diner" style burger and shoe string fries. Burger was seasoned nicely, and whatever the default veggies they threw on were great (didn't feel like too much). Shoe string fries were crispy and nicely salted. Overall it felt like a nice reminder that simple food done well is very satisfying. With a tip - my total came out to about 40 bucks which admittedly surprised me at first; but I still really enjoyed it. If I'm ever back out in Sultan, I'll probably stop by and grab another one. read more

Continuing on our road trip, we picked Bubba's. This is a the perfect mix of bar and restaurant. Lots of signage, most with sarcastic tones. Very country/ dive bar feel without the grunginess. Stage is the center piece for when they have live music. Very comfortable place. Server was attentive. Not social but that's not his job. Good service. Nothing was lacking. 4 dining. Deluxe cheeseburger, blue cheeseburger, mushroom burger and I had the Hunters burger. All 3 of my companions really liked their burgers with the Blue cheese burger being really enjoyed. Mushrooms were fresh and not canned crap. Two diners had potato salad and two had fries. The potato salad was too bland to eat by one diner. The other felt it was bland but edible. The fries... 1 said good and I said they were very good. Thin cut fries tend to not be something I like but these were an exception. The hunters burger was a large beef patty with American cheese and two grilled cheese sandwiches on Texas toast were used as the bun. This seemed like it could be overkill but I went for it. Great choice! I'm not sure why but this was one of the best burgers I've had. Even my partner tried it. She said it was amazing. This is a place that, being full time travelers, we will return to. My husband and I go several times a week. He's carnivore, so they make his steak just like he likes it with a side of fried eggs! These folks go out of their way to make great comfort food. I've ate just about everything on their menu and haven't had anything bad. We moved here from Houston, I can say without a doubt they have nailed their chicken fried steak, and home being Georgia, this is the only place is WA that I've been to that even remotely comes close to a good biscuit and gravy unless I make it myself! We had brunch here this weekend and were happy we finally stopped in as we drive past Bubba's all the time. With it being Sunday brunch, most places we called on our drive home from our weekend in Seattle were packed. Bubba's offered delicious sounding breakfast, could seat us immediately, and was just down the road from home - sounds like it was meant to be. We seated ourselves and began to check out their pretty extensive menu. The husband had his heart set on chicken fried steak and eggs, and I was in a lunch mood and glad to hear their pulled pork tacos on corn tortillas were gluten-free. Our server informed me that while they no longer keep gf bread in the kitchen, as the demand wasn't high enough for it, they could lettuce wrap any burger or sandwich for me in the future. Food came out quickly with Goliath size portions for only 15 bucks a plate. I didn't need to try the gluten covered chicken fried steak to know it was cooked to perfection. You could hear the crispy exterior every time he cut into it. My tacos were deconstructed and artfully arranged, not to mention delicious. Service is really nice and friendly and kind of has a casual go grab what you need atmosphere. Like any condiments, boxes, sugar were all available from the kitchen window. We're glad this place is so close and can accommodate my food allergy. Can't wait to go back for some cheap, delicious, generous casual noms. read more

Solid burgers, good fries, mediocre iced tea, friendly service, comfortable seating, convenient setting--that pretty much sums it up. I got the mushroom and Swiss burger. The cheese was lovely, and the fresh mushrooms were a nice touch. The burger was too small for the bun, or perhaps the bun was too big for the burger. Family of 7 had not ate all day it's 3pm we have a kid and needed food, guy who took our order was rude to start with but we let it slide since we needed to get food for our 4 yr old. We should've just stopped by for fast food instead it would've tasted better and wouldn't have dealt with such negative and rude employee! White old guy with beard attended us and took our phone order, he might be the owner cause he sure acted like he didn't give af if this business does well or not. I've lived in sultan for a while. Decided to try this place out. This was my first time being there. Upon arrival. Nobody came to greet us or seats us. Friendly staff from bar side noticed and finally mentioned something and greeted me and my family. Upon being seated waited about 5-6 minutes to be given a menu and cup of water. Ordered our food , they also had a back side option to enjoy food. Vibes were given as if you're not a daily customer or someone they know, they won't interact with you unless to take food order and when paying. But that's just my opinion from reading the room. Food was okay but I've tasted better. I will try again in the future and hope my second visit improves. read more

If not for the service, this place would have even fewer stars, especially because the burger set me back what the menu said was $14 (per menu handed to me there and in the menu on the website), but the receipt said was $16.76 before tip. I don't know if the menu was wrong or the tax grew to 20% during COVID, but $21 for a flavorless heart attack isn't my preference in life. Super excited that phase 2 of covid in Washington state has opened dining back up. The short notice limited how many restaurants were able to open right away, but this place made the list. It was a little drive to get here since we don't live in sultan. This pub style place was tasty. Huge burgers, and the Bambam sauce was worth the extra 50 cents. Our server made me a nice Mai Tai drink, my first in Restaurant drink in 3 months. Delicious. Great music playing in the background and it looks like karaoke is an option in the future when emperor Inslee allows it. Wow--insanely terrible experience here. We took three steps in and the waitress screamed at us to leave because of my medical alert dog. We said she was an SD and the woman rolled her eyes and said "fuck this" to the person next to her. Then loudly stage whispered "lying to my face" and asked me why my dog didn't close the door behind me. We just walked away. I have a non obvious medical condition that makes it very difficult for me to go out & do things & was really excited for this vacation for my birthday. My dog is extremely highly trained, and again, we hadn't done more than taken a few steps through the door. That waitress was so unbelievably cruel, rude, and discriminatory just because at a glance you can't see why I have an SD. Supporting this restaurant means supporting people like her. Wow. In a town with very few options to eat, I won't complain about the food at Bubba's. Kind of a biker bar sort of vibe, they have a long list of burgers and sandwiches to fill your belly. I really enjoyed my Reuben sandwich. It was moist and juicy...which sometimes isn't the case with this type of sandwich. And don't pass on the onion rings! Light and crispy...yum! My son ordered off of the grown up menu (he's 10) and scarfed down a burger and loved the potato salad. All in all, the service was good and the food was decent. We were coming from a hike and came in so hungry. Ordered ribs, prime rib and ribeye. Ribs were not smoked, there was no smoke rings at all. It was probably baked. Same thing with their "prime rib" , it was dry, I wondered if they used different cut of meat. Ribeye was Ok. Good thing we ordered lumpia, jalapeno poppers and chowder.
