Been back several more times since my last review (we even got an apple crumble pie from here for Thanksgiving), so time for an update. I don't know if it's just been getting accustomed to the new kitchen or if there have been recipe/technique tweaks, but the pies have improved--from crusts to fillings. Crusts are flaky and crumbly when appropriate. Fillings are well balanced and flavorful. Much better looking slices as well. So glad to see this noticeable growth and improvement. Hope to be able to give five stars at some point in the future. read more

Fun bar stop on way to Seattle from Skykomish. We had seen the pie signs for days and finally got a chance to try them. It was an early Sunday so we didn't sample the alcohol but both the shepherds pie and the chicken pot pie were tasty. I would have liked it hotter but the crust was great. The place itself was neat with fun biker pictures in the restroom, a pool table and couch in the back and both bar and table top seating. After a hiking trip in these mountains you may even need to try one of their sweet humble pies. read more

Nice atmosphere, dim lighting... definitely a divey vibe. The biscuits and gravy was a surprise. Got it for my son because I wasn't sure he'd finish a savory pie to himself and it might've been my favorite dish. I had the brisket mac and cheese and it was delicious. Brisket was nice and tender. It had a sweet bbq sauce with the mac and cheese. The crust was flakey and complimented the dish really well. The steak was good, too. Good creamy mushroom sauce on it. The only reason I docked a star was for the dessert. The cookies and cream wasn't for me - too creamy, one or two bites is fine... but it was too much. They ran out of the apple crumble which I'll definitely be checking out next time. The service was on point. Very chill, not super busy (and we went on a Saturday evening), and thr waits for the food was not long at all. It's a good place to bring the family or grabbing drinks with your buddies. This was recommended to my friends & I by some locals that were hanging out at a tavern we were having dinner at. They told us we just had to try the pie at Pie Dive Bar & it was right by our Air B&B. Lots of cool cocktails, beers & specials & several flavors of pie, maybe 7 or more? We tried 4 of the flavors, we had cherry, banana crème pie with a bourbon whip cream, Humble Crumble which is a Food Network Award Winner, & the strawberry rhubarb. Each slice is served with a small cup of vanilla ice cream. They also have a nice selection of savory pies but we had already eaten dinner so we stuck with 4 slices of sweet between 7 of us. It was good amount for each of us, especially because we just had dinner down the road. The cherry & Humble(a mixture of Granny Smith apple, marionberries, strawberries, raspberries & streusel) were both crumbles. My favorite was the banana with the bourbon whipped cream. It was piled high with good banana flavor & sweet cream. Strawberry rhubarb was also a crumble. Sweet & tart just like a strawberry rhubarb pie should taste. Before we left, one of the seven of us decided to take a whole pie home since it was the week of Thanksgiving. The nice ladies who were working in the back & front if the house told us that they could have a pie ready to go in 7 minutes & could we wait. Sweet Moses. That's what you'll say when you take your first bite. The chicken pot pie was the absolute best I've ever had anywhere. And I'm a lifelong CPP person. Also greatly enjoyed the apple berry crumble for dessert. During happy hour, you get a "pie flight" for $16. That's one sweet and one savory, full size slices. (Mine looks a little skimpy in the photo because I began to eat it immediately.) Hubs had the brisket mac-n-cheese pie and the chocolate bourbon pecan. When our server set it all down, I was sure there was no way we would eat it all. Oh yes we did!!! The crust is truly amazing. And they have fun cocktails, but it's not an overly bar-like feel here. What a cool spot to stop by! My boyfriend had the brisket mac and cheese and said the brisket was phenomenal, the crust was flakey and full of flavor the only constructive criticism was maybe some more cheese! Was served with a tasty Caesar salad with legit parmesan cheese flakes and a delicious dressing I had their peach crumble. SO delicious. Sweet, the crumble was flavorful. I had no ice cream or whip but I'm sure that would add a whole new experience to it! The ambiance was cozy, clean, inviting! We sat in the back with the fire and the cool plaid furniture and the pool table. The waitress was tentative, kind and helpful. We went on a Sunday afternoon, it wasn't to busy. Got served luke-warm coffee. That totally ruined the mood especially when I had just wrapped up my water rafting trip and was cold and needed to get warmed up. The bar isn't fully loaded. I asked for honey whiskey shot and they didn't have that. The server still wanted me to order another drink, but I respectfully abstained. When ordering for pie, I got the Shepards, but I had thought I was going to get the full pot pie, but it was a slice of the pie instead... I was hoping it was filling, but nope, it wasn't. I may typically eat heavier than others, but this was more like a breakfast because it would barely count as a lunch or dinner item. We have been eager to dine at the Pie Dive Bar since we knew it was coming to Gold Bar. It is a perfect addition to the city and definitely a hot spot! Full on most nights but for good reason and definitely worth the wait. It has all the great aspects of a dive bar. Pool and lounge area and classic bar seating along with dining areas. The ambiance is perfect with the decor and style of the building in addition to the music. It makes you think, Gold Bar! Both savory and sweet pies were to die for! Absolutely delicious. Me and my boyfriend sat at the bar. We looked around before we sat down and I just kept saying this place is so cute!!! The bartender was absolutely amazing! She was super speedy and even though she had a lot of customers was so nice and didn't seem overwhelmed at all. The food was absolutely delicious, I didn't get pics of his but he had the Steak pot pie. They were both absolutely delicious! Exactly what Gold Bar needed, this place had the best dinner pies and dessert pies my husband and I have ever had! The waitstaff did an incredible job accommodating everyone and were so friendly (we came a few days after opening and it was packed ). We stopped at the bar after skiing. Pleasantly surprised! Supe r cute inside, very clean and well done. Sit at the bar or a booth. One large table for a group of people. Nice pool table room! Only one but in the back part of restaurant so not destrating at all while eating. A couple of TVs going. Service was friendly and fast . Food comes out really quick, so if you want to enjoy a cocktail before dinner don't put your order in with your drink order. The food was solid, nice crust and fillings. We had the Thanksgiving pie and the Chicken pie, both were good. In order to have the pies so they can cut them and not have the insides fall out they have to make them a little drier than one would expect. I hope in the future they have gravy you could purchase with the meal for those of us that like it a bit more saucy. Maybe it's just me but I HATE this new trend of putting alcohol in desserts, whether it is pies or ice cream. My husband is a recovering alcoholic and I make or buy mine unadulterated by liquor by choice. I just think there needs to be some things unboozy. They said they could make one without booze, but then we would have to purchase the WHOLE PIE $35.00. Ummm, no thanks.
