Third slice with hair in it

My family and I really like Round Table pizza a lot so we frequently order from them, particularly this location. We hardly ever have major issues with them and have generally found the employees at this location to be courteous and accommodating. We did, however, find our last experience unpleasant and unacceptable. We ordered from them a few nights ago for carry-out and when I got home and started eating a slice, I found a 4"-5" long black hair baked into my pizza. I was grossed out but decided to not make a big deal out of it so I brushed it off. Then, as we continued eating, my MIL also found a shorter black hair in her slice. Again, we were grossed out but we let it go. Then, as we continued eating I realized that all three of our pizzas were made as thin crust pizzas even though I ordered regular crust for all of them. Not sure if this was them making a mistake on the order or if it's some sort of sneaky cost-cutting thing they're doing, which because of higher food costs and such, I have been finding this lately when getting food from restaurants/food establishments -- things like, watered down salad dressings, or skimping on toppings and ingredients. Luckily, we like their thin crust, so even though we all wanted regular crust this time, we decided to not make a thing of it and let it go. Yesterday though, my husband ate a slice of leftover pizza and again, there was a long black hair in the pizza. That was the last straw. I'm officially upset now. At this point, I think it's pretty obvious that whoever was preparing the pizza wasn't wearing a hair net. Management clearly needs to make sure that everyone is following all health and safety procedures. They also need to pay closer attention to getting the orders right. Needless to say, we will be taking a break from eating at Round Table.

I grew up going to round table with my mom at another location and was super sad when they closed. The pizza at other locations just didn't taste the same. Since then I've tried a few other locations and this one by far is the most comparable. I came back at least 4 times since my first visit, all within a couple months. The pizza is delicious, place is clean and never overly crowded and they serve lunch specials 7 days a week! With how things are now it's not often you can find a place offering lunch specials over the weekend! It's a major bonus for those of us that work during the week and can't even take advantage of those. If you sit in the larger open area by the TV it does tend to smell like cleaner. Not sure if it's because the bathrooms are nearby, but that would be the only downside.

Lunch special

I ordered a lunch special which was a 4 topping personal pizza with a bottled soda for $8. The deal itself is pretty good and I have a soft spot in my heart for Round table personal pizzas. We used to have them in high school. I also worked at Round Table in high school which was cool. I ordered online which I think is the way to go. They have their specials and coupons already loaded in. My pizza was nice and warm and they did a good job in the toppings. I wish the sauce was more zesty but it was still pretty good. I don't think I'd actually eat there. It's super dark and oddly depressing inside.

King Arthur's Supreme! I have a dairy allergy so no cheese on this one.

Excellent pizza! Hasn't changed since I was a kid 40 yrs ago. Their thin crust is super crispy as well as tasty. The sauce is the best part of the dish. It is thick, nicely spicy and delicious. Best sauce on the planet! This location was awesome too. The ladies on duty were pleasant, attentive and efficient. They had my meal out in minutes. (Of course I went mid week at 2pm so the lunch rush had left.). But I'm sure they were just as efficient when busy as when just a few people were there. I ordered a King Arthur's Supreme. Mine was cheeseless due to food allergies but the other pizzas on the tables were piled high with crisp vegetables and meats sitting on top of a layer melty cheese. I grew up eating RT pizza but moved out of state as an adult. Every visit back to CA I make a point of having a pie. If you like a crisp crust with a spicy sauce then have a meal here!

Regular Buffalo Wings

I can usually count on Round Table for the consistency of their food. The salad bar is a bit above what you might expect, the pizza is delicious and the wings are tasty, crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. Until I had the misfortune of coming to the Round Table in Encinitas. I ordered a beer on tap. I like my beer icy cold. The glass it came in was icy cold but the beer was barely cold, leaning more towards room temperature. Disappointing. I ordered Buffalo Wings. I didn't realize there were two kinds of Buffalo Wings, hot and mild, nor was I asked which I wanted. I wanted "hot" but got "mild". They were pretty much tasteless. On top of that they were really big and greasy. The texture felt like they weren't cooked enough. I didn't eat them and will take them home and pop them in my air fryer. Pizza. I ordered the Guineveres Garden Delight without bell pepper or tomato and added zucchini.. I sent the first one back. There was so little sauce on it that the first two bites I took were sauce free. They remade the pizza and it didn't taste much different and I didn't taste much sauce on it. The toppings however were plentiful. The usually delicious pizza was anything but however, lacking any flavor from their sauce, which I happen to really enjoy. I don't go out for pizza very often and was really looking forward to it. It has been such a disappointing experience I can't imagine Ever returning to Round Table. One last thing. No more real plates. They're all paper plates now. I should mention the staff. All super friendly and courteous. Didn't bat an eye when I asked them to remake my pizza.

There was lots of parking on the other side of the street and we were greeted by a friendly waitress. I tried the gelato. Vanilla gelato was creamy with a rich, sweet vanilla flavor. I loved the smooth texture and bold vanilla notes. Lemon sorbet was icy with tons of sour lemon flavor. Best in small quantities. I'm glad I got one scoop of each. Service was friendly and efficient. I will miss our monthly adventures to places I have not visited before.

Buona Forchetta came highly recommended by a friend who raves about their pizzas. After trying it…read moremyself, I'd rate it closer to a 3.5 out of 5. It's a solid neighborhood restaurant, but it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. We ordered two pizzas: a gluten-free Margherita and a regular Margherita. One thing that immediately stood out was how similar the two crusts tasted. Both had a comparable level of chewiness, which was surprising given that one was gluten-free. The gluten-free crust lacked some of the wheaty, earthy flavor you'd expect from a traditional dough, but overall I was genuinely impressed by its texture and quality. It's one of the better gluten-free pizza crusts I've had. The pizzas are Neapolitan-style and generally enjoyable. The dough itself is well made, though I would have preferred a bit more chew and structure to take it to the next level. My biggest criticisms are the sauce and cheese. The sauce was applied too sparingly, leaving the pizza without enough moisture or cohesion to tie the different components together. More importantly, the flavor felt one-dimensional--mostly salty, without the rich tomato sweetness, depth, and complexity that make a great Neapolitan pizza memorable. But I want to be fair. Judging from the photos posted by other Yelpers, some of the pizzas shown have a good amount of pizza sauce. I need to try the food again and update my review. As for the cheese, the fresh mozzarella on the Margherita didn't quite meet expectations. The slices had a firmer texture than I typically associate with fresh mozzarella and lacked some of the soft, creamy moisture that helps create that signature melt. The flavor was also milder than expected; instead of delivering a pronounced milky richness, it tasted somewhat diluted. This may be a minor criticism, but on a simple pizza like a Margherita, where every ingredient is on display, these details become much more noticeable. Overall, Buona Forchetta serves a respectable Neapolitan-style pizza, and its gluten-free option is particularly impressive. However, the underwhelming sauce and mozzarella kept the pizzas from reaching the level I was expecting given the enthusiastic recommendations.

They were clearly short staffed on Father's Day, so I allowed for that. However, when you're sitting there forever and 3 wait staff are going by you several times and can't even say "someone will be with you shortly ".....not a word. Funny thing is the patios were fairly empty. We would have left, but again we've loved the food here for 14 years so hung in there. Then big mistake was sitting across from the pizza oven! The hostess, who I have to say is an amazing employee, she was literally doing everything. Seating people, cleaning tables, answering the phone, cleaning the stuff off the pizza area, bringing clean pans, getting drinks, etc. BUT she was using those nasty old rags to clean the table, touching the cash register etc., never washed her hands and then she was grabbing handfuls of the fresh basil and ripping pieces and putting them on the pizza, then posting the pizza with her fingers to maybe check it wasn't burned on the bottom? I was literally dying watching this, I'm not even a germaphobe. Then I watched the other waiter who wears dirty baggy jeans wipe his hands in his pants and also manhandle the basil in the same way. So gross. I saw another party get mad because the pizza was not cut, they asked for it to be cut again....and then got angry because they still had to tear at it and everything fell off. When our pizza came....it was the same, but we dealt with it. We ALWAYS get the Butterscotch pudding, but at this point we just wanted out. Had to wait forever to ask for a box and check. I'll miss the old Blue Ribbon as I miss Craftsman sadly, but there are others with actual service, we gave them a chance the last time it was bad, but this is the 2nd and done!

I definitely can tell this place is a go to for sports events or just gatherings. The place itself is cute. The decor is a little funky yet modern in design. I will say the seating is a bit crowded and it feels a bit claustrophobic. The tables are very close to each other and the tables are small. The gentleman in the front was super welcoming and friendly. I will say, as someone who was only a visitor, Carlsbad doesn't seem too friendly overall.
