Wow. This is some of the best Indian food I've ever had. The butter chicken was outstanding. Unlike many places that use dry, cubed chicken, the chicken here was incredibly moist, tender, and clearly high quality. Every bite was packed with flavor, and the sauce was rich and perfectly balanced. We also ordered the Chicken 65, which was delicious with just the right amount of spice and crispness. You can tell they don't cut corners on ingredients, and it really shows in the quality of the food. We'll definitely be back to try more of the menu. Highly recommend! read more

We were not feeling our hotel's restaurants and their food so opted for online ordering options nearby. There are a lot of Indian food options and decided to give Tandoori Palace and try. Our food arrived hot, fresh, and the portions were more than enough for two adults and one toddler. Plain Naan: Maybe I should have opted for the garlic one or one of their specialities but the naan was heavy and not light, airy, fluffy. Lamb Tikka Masala: Big chunks of tender lamb. We got medium spicy and it was a good amount of spice for us. Flavorful. Vegetable Pakora: Everyone enjoyed these! The dipping sauces were interesting (never had it before) but it break up the fried components of it well. Light, crispy, not oily or greasy on the hands. Tandoori Chicken: Super tender, super juicy, and well flavored chicken. Our toddler ate majority of this portion with pakora. The amount of rice given with two entrees is also a very good portion so I would avoid ordering extra rice! read more

I got 2 butter garlic nans and a lamb korma to go. I also ordered the chicken tikka masala but she must have not heard me since it was not in my order when I got home and I did not get charged for that dish. Family owned Tandoori Place serves exceptional dishes that are delicious and flavorful! Service is a bit slow and unattentive at times however I was impressed at their teenage son assisted and brought out dishes to the diners tables. Their two elementary school daughters were running around the tables while customers ate, screaming and playing tag, hitting each other. It was funny but quickly turned annoying and they were told to go outside. We ordered: Cucumber Salad, Chicken Tikka Masala (House Special), Lahori Fish, Ali Gobbi, and Yellow Daal. This place truly came through when I needed it most. I was driving down from Carlsbad to visit my father, who lives an hour south, and he asked me last minute if I could bring him food. I didn't have time to grocery shop and cook, but when I saw the Yelp reviews of Tandoori Palace I knew I could count on them to save the day. They quickly made a side dish of okra and a stir fry of carrots, gobi (cauliflower), and other vegetables -- healthy, flavorful, and just what he needed. The food was fresh, well seasoned, and made with care. Very nice decor and it was authentic. They took contactless pay. The staff were so fast, very kind, and super friendly. You can tell this is a family run restaurant, and they take pride in both their food and their service. The place was also very clean and welcoming. I feel embarrassed for myself that I didn't know about this place earlier. Less than a mile away from work with a lunch buffet. What a gem.. There were fewer than five people in the entire place dining while I was there-service was incredibly attentive. My water stayed filled, they checked on me multiple times to make sure I was doing OK throughout my meal but weren't overly attentive either. I got my naan order fast. The lunch buffet is an absolutely fabulous deal for someone like me. You get to try three different chicken dishes, three different veggie dishes, salad, raita, and a dessert- oh and veggie samosas! If it was a tasting menu, you'd pay so much more. I love tandoori chicken and chicken tikka masala so was pleasantly surprised that my two favorites were the Jeera aloo and the navratan korma. Mushroom mattar and chicken curry were good too, but I tried to save room for the vegetarian dishes when going back for seconds (ok, and thirds). I was in the mood to try Tandoori Palace which is down the road from where I live. I hadn't been here since the restaurant made it's change from the previous restaurant, Taste of India. I was glad I dropped in. We decided to try their lunch buffet which currently takes place, Monday through Friday from 11:00 am to 2:30 pm. The price was $14.99 + tax per person as of Oct. 4, 2024. (Be sure to contact the restaurant for current rates). Upon entering the restaurant, the atmosphere was calming and casual with peaceful instrumental music playing in the background . We were greeted by the friendly staff and seated at a booth. We were told that we could head over to the buffet and asked if we wished to have regular or garlic naan to go with our meal. We chose regular naan which is included with the meal. (FYI: if you choose Garlic naan, there is an additional charge). The buffet is all you can eat and included a good number of dishes to try from salad, meat and vegetarian dishes to dessert. I noticed most customers going back for second and third trips to the buffet. It was a good sign. Highlights of my lunch: (Vegetable Pakora) - a vegetable fritter with a crispy outer layer and a tender bite of vegetable on the inner layer. It was a dish I have never tried and was delicious. (Aloo Gobi) - tender chunks of cauliflower and potatoes that were perfectly cooked with just the right level of spice. (Matar Paneer) - I really enjoyed this dish over rice. The rich tomato based gravy blended with cooked peas and fresh cheese was the perfect comfort food. I could imagine eating this on a cold, rainy day by the fireplace. (Chana Masala) - if you love chickpeas like I do, you'll love this dish. With it's full bodied flavor and mixture of spices, this dish was a treat. Dip your naan into the gravy for a warm, savory bite. (Mango/Pineapple Mousse) - a cool, refreshing way to finish your meal with a burst of smooth, mango flavor, chunks of pineapple and light sprinkles of coconut. It was so good I went back for seconds...LOL Overall, I enjoyed the buffet and all of the dishes offered at Tandoori Palace. It's a great way to try a combination of flavors at a reasonable price. Great Indian spot in Encinitas. Just overall quality, delicious food. The inside is very nice but still casual and workers are always friendly. I've only ever done takeout and it's typically ready in a timely manner. Note that the restaurant prefers that you call ahead versus ordering online!! My favorite dishes are the Vindaloo with tofu and Butter Chicken. Tikka Masala is OK but I prefer other alternatives! The garlic naan is also a must. There is a large lot in front of the restaurant so you won't have any issues with parking. Prices are standard for the area at around ~$17-20 per dish which includes rice. Will return! read more

We had such a great experience at this family-owned and operated restaurant! We started with the Chicken 65 for an appetizer, which was absolutely delicious. For our entrées, we ordered the chicken tikka masala, korma and a kids kebab meal. All of the portions were incredibly generous. I was especially surprised by how much food came with the kids meal. It honestly felt like it could have easily fed an adult! You can really feel the care and pride that comes from it being fully family owned and run. Saturday night, take out! We tried the Tandori Palace for the first time, and ordered on line. We ordered 4 items. Pick up was pretty easy, the order was ready, but I was late. The Lamb Saagwala was nice, but didn't quite hit the mark the way I expected. It seemed to have a little burn flavor. It wasn't as flavorful as I have come to expect. The Navratan Korma is a creamy and buttery sauce with vegetables. It was fantastic, a stand out dish. It had the depth of flavor that makes you overeat! The Tikka Masala Lamb was very flavorful. It was next level good. The seasonings were perfect. The plain naan was good, but a bit soggy. I drove 20 minutes after picking it up before we ate. So maybe the delay caused the naan to be slightly soggy. Overall we would come back and try their other dishes. read more

This review is based on my past two visits. One time I went with my husband and the curries were really sweet even though we asked for spicy. They add raisins to all the vegetarian curries. The chole samosa Vere dry, usually I like to have some gravy to enjoy the combination and it was bland. Last I visited with my whole group to celebrate Diwali and what a huge disappointment we all had. Malai Kofta was so sweet, even paneer tikka had raisins in it. To preface this review, I ordered takeout from Tandoori Palace, so I didn't actually get to dine in the restaurant itself. That being said, I can speak to my experience doing takeout, which was very pleasant and delightfully easy. I ordered through Grubhub about 30 minutes prior, and my sister ordered through Doordash. (We had credits to use!) Although we went at peak dinner time, it was not crowded at all. It was very easy to find parking, and the restaurant was surprisingly empty. That being said, the ambiance seemed very nice, and it would definitely be worthwhile to come back and do sit-down dining. There were cute lights and a nice mood to the restaurant as a whole. When we entered the restaurant, our orders were already ready! It was super quick and easy to go in and out. The employee there helped us confirm our orders, and we were on our way with a feast to bring home! Now onto the food. We got butter chicken, shrimp korma, and another goat curry that I can't remember off the top of my head. We also ordered the cheese and garlic naan bread. And to top it all off, my sister got a free mango lassi for her order, which was over $30. Everything (and yes, I mean everything) we tried was so good!! Genuinely, I was amazed! Admittedly, I do not have Indian food very often (I don't know why!), and I'm so glad that I got to try it tonight. My favorite was the butter chicken and cheese naan. This is hard to believe, but I ordered chicken malai kebab. As I'm somewhat allergic to garlic, and don't like the taste, I asked if they used garlic for in this entrée. I was told that the chef could make the chicken malai kebab without garlic. When it arrived, it was repulsively bland and tasteless. What the chef did was cook the chicken, then put plain yogurt on it The way this dish should be prepared is that the chicken is marinated in spicy yogurt sauce, THEN cooked in the tandoor, and NOT unseasoned chicken cooked in a tandoor, and the yogurt sauce put on afterwards. I asked them to fix what they served me. What I got back was the same dish with some spices sprinkled on it. It did - just barely - have some flavor. I ate it, but really should have not accepted it. I've spent many years in India, and know about Indian food. I think what the Tandoori Palace figures - perhaps correctly - is that patrons have little or no idea of what some dishes are supposed to be like. Bonus negative points; I ordered a bottle of beer. On the menu, there were no prices listed for beer. I asked the waitress what the prices were, and she told me the cost, but on the check, the cost was several dollars more. The antic of not listing prices for some items on a menu usually works because patrons tend to feel uncomfortable asking the server prices. Obviously, misrepresenting prices is totally wrong. Extra negative points for the menus falling apart, and held together with cellophane tape. Restaurant critics agree that when menus are falling apart and help together with tape, you should wonder what other ways the restaurant saves money and 'cuts corners.' I was hoping The Tandoori Palace would be good, as I love Indian cuisine and its close to our home. Oh well... read more

This is our favorite local Indian restaurant! The vegetable samosas are huge and tasty. The garlic naan was made perfectly and fresh out of the oven. I loved the texture of the daal soup, my husband didn't like that there was cilantro in there, but he's someone that hates cilantro. The chicken Tikka masala was delicious as always, we got it medium spicy and it was perfect. The chicken is very soft and juicy! We definitely over-ordered, this could've fed about 3 people easily! So many other high reviews and I don't understand it! Three of us went and tried the buffet. All three of us have very different palates and expectations and none of us were impressed.
