I had the lunch vegetable coconut curry & Chicken Tikka masala. And omg, it was delicious!!! My favorite was the coconut curry; with shredded coconut on top and a creamy curry base. My lunch came with lentils, rice and a naan on the side. Ive been to a couple restaurants, and this one is one of my favorites after today! Also, my togo packaging was great. Came here on a weekend with my guy and it was pretty empty. Their weekday lunch special is a really great deal and I would love to come by to try it sometime. Their menu has a lot of items and I kinda wished there were some pictures to make it easier to pick. We started with the Vegetable Samosa, which was basically all potayto, dry, and bland. It was the worst dish of the meal. Lunch itself consisted of Chicken Momo, Bhera ko Saag, and Garlic Herb Naan. The momos were pretty good and didn't even need the sauce it came with. The naan was incredible and they don't skimp on the garlic herb at all! The star of the meal was the Bhera ko Saag by far! My wife and I each chose the Chicken Chilly (5/5) -- pan-fried marinated chicken strips with bell pepper and onion, cooked with himalayan sauce. For my second curry, I chose the Chicken Vindaloo (4/5), which was very good, but I prefer their Lamb Vindaloo. My wife had the Chicken Tikka Masala (3/5) -- the sauce was too heavy. I've been looking forward to trying Himalayan Kitchen and ordered the chicken biryani last night. It was a huge portion with a decent amount of chicken, and very flavorful. But maybe overboard. It was way too spicy, and there were also whole spices left in which is what really ruined the dish for me. With everything mixed together in the biryani it's not easy to see when you're going to eat a full peppercorn, cardamom pod, or clove. But there were several of these, along with inedible chunks of cinnamon stick throughout the dish. I'm not sure why they need to make it this way, but for me it was barely edible. Might come back to try the more traditional options with sauces since I've heard good things, but hope the feedback on this dish is helpful. read more

Best Indian restaurant in enci hands down! One of those places it's hard to put your fork down it's so good! All the staff is super friendly and welcoming. Ambiance is quiet, good for a date night or a mellow dinner. Portion sizes are family style, one curry is def enough for two but we like to each get our own so we have leftovers for the next day. Not my favorite Indian food. They could reduce the spice levels of a few of the dishes. This could just be that they are making from a different region than the restaurant I normally get Indian food from making it just not taste as good to me. The restaurant was also hot so that might have added to the issue as it's less enjoyable to already be too warm. The interior was interesting with pink walls and what appeared to be orientation art work on the walls. The service was rather rushed. Given to go boxes only about 15 minutes after getting the dishes that we were still eating and talking when brought. The place only had 3 other tables so they were not busy. Most of the other settings are 4-person booths if my memory serves correct. Great food, although I'm not usually exotic, if this qualifies as that. My brothers selected the spot, but I ended up being happy they did! If I could compare Himalayan food to anything, I'd say Indian food. We ordered delivery from Himalayan Kitchen in Encinitas tonight. It's a bit far from where we live, but I can't hold that against them. The food was excellent, the portions were large, and the rice was perfect. The papad was, well, papad. It seems to taste the same at every restaurant. I like tamarind chutney with my papads, but this came with only mint chutney. That's probably a regional difference; maybe in Nepal they don't do tamarind. Whatever--their mint chutney was excellent. The food was wonderful, and ultimately this is all about the food, but the wrapping and packaging of the food so that it could be delivered safely was very strange and complex and I made rather a mess unwrapping the tandoori chicken and putting it into a serving dish. I don't normally take photographs for my Yelp reviews, but I should have made a couple of pictures of unwrapping the chicken. read more

Flavourful and moist filling with a perfect dipping sauce to go with it to add some spice. Alu Paratha - Perfectly spiced and generously stuff paratha Goat Masala - 7/5 - This one was just excellent. Sometimes goat curries end up having more bones than meat but this was not the case. Paired up really well with the garlic cilantro naan as well as a the jeera basmati rice(that came with the curry) Garlic cilantro Naan - A rather large portion of a single order. The naan was soft and perfect to eat with the goat curry. The person taking our order asked us to just get 1 instead of 2 orders of the naan that we would typically order for the 2 adults and i appreciate the guidance since it was large portion of naan compared to most other places. read more
