I thought this place was great! We kind of went at an odd time in the afternoon in between services of lunch and dinner. We were the only people in the restaurant and we made it there in time for the lunch special, which was a bonus. I was super hungry, I ordered a mango lassi and chicken MoMo for appetizer. When they brought out the mango lassi they also surprise me with a nice little bowl of a yellow daal soup. I scarfed them both down within minutes, which I kind of regret, because by the time of the rest of the food came out, I was almost full. The lunch specials came out before the MoMo but no big deal. The lunch special is really a great value. They give you a ton of food. You get two of the lunch items with rice and naan. I ate a little bit of it, but ended up taking most of it to work for lunch the next day. I had the vegetable korma and paneer tikka masala. I didn't get any spicey because I wasn't sure how hot they were gonna make it and the vegetable korma really could've used a little bit of spice, but it was still delicious. The paneer tikka masala was outstanding, had so much flavor in it. The MoMo was also fantastic and we did eat all of those because I didn't think they were going to hold up well if we took them home. I love how they made them with almost like a little cup at the top that you could put some of the sauce in. Don't be like me though, and give them a few minutes to cool down, the broth inside the dumplings is super hot. I was so excited I bit into it a minute or two after it came out and I wish I had waited a little longer. I would absolutely return to this restaurant when I am in the area. read more

As a big fan of Indian food, I was excited to try this new spot in Escondido. It didn't disappoint. Very rich, velvety traditional Indian cuisine. We ordered the chicken momo, palak paneer, bharta aloo, herbal garlic naan, and tandoori chicken all at a spice level of 5 out of 10. All of the dishes were tasty. My favorite was the palak paneer and, to my surprise, the sauteed veggies under the chicken tandoori. The dishes came with plenty of plain basmati rice. I also ordered a mango lassi which was one of the best I've ever had. The herbal garlic naan was different and instead of cilantro contained fenugreek and a light blend of other seasonings. Really enjoyed it. Service was very polite. I was visiting with a friend from out of town and I appreciated that they never hovered or never made us feel rushed. They never pushed us to order, they kept refilling waters, and they didn't rush our check on us when they noticed our meal slowed down. Will definitely be returning. read more

I had high expectations for this place since there aren't many restaurants like this around the area. Unfortunately I was disappointed, the flavors of some dishes were very similar. The service is good but we were only 2 tablets at dinner in the whole restaurant and it took a long time to get our food. The place is very hot and humid, it looks like they don't have air conditioning and there is no proper ventilation. The main dishes come with rice, unfortunately they never mention they add cumin to it which I'm not a fan of it, the food is already very seasoned so adding cumin to the rice is too much for me. Almost all dishes were very sweet, so it doesn't seem to have authentic Himalayan food. We ordered: - Nawaratan Korma.- very sweet. - Malai Kofta.- very sweet, so so. - Butter Chicken.- it doesn't taste as a a butter chicken, and similar flavor as the previous one . I'm certainly no expert, but this might be the best Indian food I've ever had. We've tried the palak paneer, lamb vindaloo, lamb tikka masala, channa masala, samosas, and pokra. Everything has been the best version of those things that I've ever had. Friendly staff, quick service, low prices, and a very nice and clean dining room. Came here on a double date on a Saturday night. Very easy to get to, plenty of parking. The interior is very chill, simple elegance. Soft lighting. The food was nothing short of amazing! I forgot to take pictures I was so lost in a flavor party. Everything we had deserved five stars: both chicken and vegetable momos (dumplings), goat curry, mushroom tikka masala, naan with cherries/nuts (seriously so good!), lamb biryani. As soon as we walked in, the gentleman at the front greeted us with a warm, friendly smile. There were a good number of people dining in, but it didn't feel crowded, and there was a steady flow of takeout orders, which is always a good sign. We ordered naan bread, pakora, saag paneer, and a chicken dish (I don't remember the exact name), and everything was fresh, flavorful, and extremely delicious. Every dish tasted homemade and authentic, and you could really tell the ingredients were high quality. Dessert was light and not overly sweet -- just the perfect ending to a very tasty meal. Amazing food!!!! I have been to many Indian cuisine restaurants and this is now my new favorite. Everything we had was so flavorful and spiced just right. Even the ones that were lower spice levels still had great flavor and perfect spices. We were a large party over a dozen people and they accommodated us last minute for a late lunch. On a rainy Saturday, decided to treat myself by having Indian food. Lunch specials are Monday-Friday. Immediately greeted by the kind gentleman and given water. Ordered lamb tikka masala and chicken momos. Also can't pass up garlic naan. Place is very clean. Nice decor, cloth napkins. Lamb curry is delicious and very tender. Rice is very fragrant. Chicken momos had a delicate wrapper and generous flavor filled meat. The garlic naan was the thinnest, largest, flakiest I've ever had. Needless to say I have enough leftovers for dinner. We ordered the Samosas for appetizer and you get 2 huge ones. Only ate half of one because I wanted to save room for lunch. The tamarind sauce that came with was delicious. Could absolutely drink a gallon of it. I ordered the lunch special. I decided on Chicken Chilli and Chicken Tikka Masala. Yummy Lentil Soup first, then entree with rice and naan. Oh man I could have had another basket of the naan. Warm, buttery, crispy, delicious. I order a 4 spice level and it was perfect. Mom ordered chicken Biryani (not on lunch). Huge portion! Enough for at least 2 days of leftovers or to feed 2 people. She ordered 2 spice level and it was perfect. Gentleman serving us was attentive and nice. Vegetable samosas were seasoned well, crispy and piping hot! The tamarind dipping sauce gave it a nice touch of sweetness. Garlic cilantro naan was buttery and cooked well - not an overcooked cracker like some other places. Chicken vindaloo was rich and had the perfect amount of spice. We went here for lunch and both got their lunch special, which includes naan, lentil soup, and choice of two curries for $11.95. We also ordered the samosas for $5.95. The food was great! All four of the curries we got were amazing and super fresh and flavorful. The naan was delicious and the rice was tender and fluffy. Service was so kind and friendly. The restaurant is in a strip mall, but has plenty of comfortable seating and is very tidy and clean. Can't wait to go back! read more

Today is my first time here and I am so pleased! We were here at lunch time so we took advantage of their lunch special which comes with choice of 2 mains (out of 11 choices), rice, soup, and bread. Soup was piping hot and so comforting-tasty, love the warm spices! I got aloo and chicken vindaloo--huge portions for all! Lotsa yummy naan as well. The Best Hidden Gem Restaurant in Escondido !! This place serves amazing and authentic Himalayan and Indian cuisine. The best dishes: Butter Chicken - Great quality of chicken in a creamy butter tomato sauce. Chicken Saag - Mint, spinach and collard greens with chicken and spices in a delightful curry. This place is as amazing as all the other reviews said. We love Indian style food and always love to try new places. Last night we ordered the garlic Naan, Nawaratan Korma and chicken Tikka Marsala. The flavor on all these items were incredible, nice serving portions and very hot. The person who served us was probably the owner. Very nice and helpful. The young lady who greeted us was also very sweet and helpful. She's part of the family too. The place is comfortable but it would be nice if the over head lights could be dimmed. It's super bright. They do serve beer and wine and the selections were good. I can't recommend this place enough and we'll for sure be back and will tell our friends. Loved the food here. Ambiance is very stripmall typical but they did a great job with what there was to work with. The young woman who helped us was an absolute delight. One of the better naan breads I've found in the county. Fair pricing and generous portions.
