However, we took order to go, and all the sauces were just on the plates, so it is spilled all around. This was a huge disappointment. First time ordering, heard such good things. I got a chicken shwarma wrap with added lettuce and seasoned fries. No lettuce, no seasoning on the fries, including salt, and the fries were not even half way cooked. They were still hard in the middle and white on the outside. The shwarma was pure curry flavored, nothing else. If I'd wanted curry chicken I would have ordered it. We got a side of falafel, which was also barely fried and still soft, not crisp at all, and you guessed it, tasted like curry patties, not chickpeas. We ordered both types of baklava. The $6.99 Nutella baklava was 2- 1 inch squares. They forgot to include their "most popular" baklava in the order at all. It was too many things that tasted poorly or weren't even cooked properly to think there was a new cook. Plus forgotten items in the order. Okay, a bit on the steep side but said it's probably worth it since there's so many good reviews. Waited 20 minutes for the food and was extremely disappointed at the price and portion provided. Walked 5 minutes to the car to find: The hummus provided did not taste good and was doused in oil. The salad was covered in the same oil and and did not taste fresh. The beef and rice had no flavor. We were given tortilla wraps on the side (is this a joke?). The French fries had a sprinkle of seasoning on it and came soggy. This was a miss from me. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. Service was horrible I asked for a cup for water because they have fountain drinks and the lady with extra lipstick taking my order said she does not have a cup for water I would have to buy a bottle - it's 100 degrees outside and like 90 degrees in the store it's so hot they have fans going which is loud and now they are playing their mucus even louder to cover the sound. Finally made it down to this food truck. The truck is located on the edge of the CVS shopping center on jamacha rd in el cajon. There is a 7 -11 across the street. First time here. I ordered the lemon cilantro beef shawarma combo sandwich and fries. The beef literally melts in your mouth. It's so tender. The lemon sauce is very good. Not too strong. The sandwhich is huge. It comes in a crispy thin bread wrap thats cut into SIX sections. They give you a small bite of pickled veggies and tahini sauce on the side. Plus my fries. I couldn't be happier. Just tried the location by 30th and grape today. It's a good truck so they move to different areas. Once I saw it I had to turn back and grab some, honestly the best shawarma I have tried in San Diego. There is just something about the shawarma meat that's different and taste so so good. I ordered two orders of baklava but I guess they didn't have any. Was visiting from La and wanted to try this place. I ordered chicken shawarma and asked for Koshari. The girl helping me had no idea what it was even though it was on the menu. I waited 45 minutes to get my order. It was so greasy because i think they fried the bread and the garlic sauce was not like the paste you get in Arab places. It was like a runny mayo. Was looking for a place to eat late at night (1 AM). Yelp suggested this place and it had pretty great reviews so we decided to check it out. This food truck is located in a gas station. Therefore, parking is extremely limited. They have some outdoor seating under a large tent next to their truck. When we went there was plenty of room to sit (maybe because it was 1 am). The staff were friendly. They are arab so you know its gonna be good! They even offered us complimentary dessert to try. We had 4 people in our group and we all shared a chicken and beef shawarma combo. It was plenty of food to fill all of us up. As an arab myself, i am super critical about arabic food. I have to say that these shawarmas were one of the best ive had here in San Diego. The meats were both super tender and the spices they used were soooo f****** good!! They DONT use pita for their shawarmas which I personally enjoy because pita is too heavy. They use a more traditional and lighter bread for their shawarmas. The fries were good, nothing special. The combo comes with pickled peppers etc. Overall, the atmosphere wasnt the nicest. However, the food was so good its worth any cons you might experience. I just wish they were located at a busier intersection of PB like somewhere along Garnet or Grand Ave. Their spot at the gas station across from Rocky's Pub on Ingraham St is away from the major hub of bars and nightclubs in the area. That being said, the grub they served was very good. The owner engaged in pleasant dialogue while I was placing my order. I got the Beef Shawarma combo ($9) which came with a side of french fries, tahini sauce and pickles. The marinated beef sirloin was mixed with lamb, onion, sumac, parsley and tomatoes before it was placed inside a wrap and folded. I also bought a regular side of baba ghanouj ($3), but it was given to me for free instead of a discount for mentioning Yelp. The eggplant and tahini mixture was smooth and topped with pomegranates. It made a great dip for the french fries. I think if the truck can expand its radius to reach more folks during the late night hours, then it can really succeed in this neighborhood. read more
