We heard this place was good so tried going with a large group(8 adults ,5kids). We never got to sample the food because the manager was rude and not very accommodating to us. At first we tried to put two larger tables together, we were told, "you can't do that". Then, we were willing to have 4 adults and the 5 kids sit at the two tables that were close to one another (without moving them) but asked to have 2 tables of two put together. We were told we can't do that. The restaurant had about 6 people in it, so it wasn't even crowded. We ended up walking out. Was very excited to visit after reading reviews. Unfortunately VERY DISAPPOINTED. From the start it appeared cute and rustic, but filled with barflies at 515pm on a Monday. Host very rude and would not accommodate a larger party... Not even to push together two tables of two. Upset with my review, He has contacted me since stating he offered other suggestions for a large party... But clearly lacks in manners as it came across as we won't serve you so go to the Mexican restaurant down the street. We eventually walked out after seeing some of the food served, and will certainly not go back. Basically a dive bar at best. Of note, I am not one to typically complain or comment. Really cute decor! Beer was delicious. I had the pumpkin which was pretty stouty but yummy and my friend had the rye, also good! We ordered the ginger-carrot soup, good but too gingery for me. Overall very good experience. Husband's steak and fries were super tasty. I ordered the nachos which could have used more toppings (the proportion of chips to cheese/beans resulted in quite a few dry chips) but we're pretty good overall. The bartender was really helpful letting us try a few beers before we settled on one. However, the night we were there a few of the brews were either out or having problems so there were only 2 beers and 1 cider to choose from. More variety + working taps would be necessary improvements. Also, the sign is hard to see from the road - needs lights or to be bigger. We will definitely be back next time in the area. read more

This used to be called Log Cabin and featured Ukrainian food - had a pool table, dart board, and long bar with TVs and a juke box. I live right across the street - came in and asked to see a menu. Cozy rustic atmosphere with bar and lounging areas, which turn out more to be a place to wait for a table more than a place to sit with friends and talk over a drink...Expect a long wait with groups of 6 or more, since they only have room for one larger table in front of house. And if there's a group ahead of u, well u r sol and they won't pull other tables together for some weird reason. It's pretty bad policy imo but there may be a space or capacity issue with kitchen in dealing with the larger groups. Food is good. Mussel sauce is tasty, nachos are crisp and fresh, I enjoy the Oscar burger with their house sauce, looking forward to trying their other specialty sauces (habanero hot, Godzilla, and another) . My wife and I checked out Rough Cut last night . It has potential , but for now it's a little rough around the edges . We had the house made jalapeno poppers which were good but a little bland . They do get credit for house made , not food service freezer grade . We had two different beers , both brewed in house , they were good , but didn't wow us . I had the Oskar burger which was excellent , a quality hand formed thick juicy burger cooked to the correct temperature. My wife had the fish tacos which were fine, but didn't pop. Interior decor was ok, one large painted wall could use a little artwork. The exterior could use a few hours of clean up gardening and it would look a lot better. I understand it's a new venture and I hope with a little time it will move up a star or two . read more

Great spot...very cute , small resturant but overpriced. We aren't local so I'm not sure if people just go there to mostly drink but the food was overpriced. While my tacos were very good , they were not $15 good. They were out of 2 of the beers on tap so that was also a bummer. And...our waitress was not the friendliest. I pass by the place every day on my way to work, so I have been patiently waiting for months. My wife and I went on Thursday. We seated ourselves at a small table by the bar. I ordered a beer, which came promptly, and we ordered a burger and burrito. It was an hour before the food arrived. The burger was on house made ciabatta bread and was pretty good. The burrito was also a generous portion presented nicely. I have been a chef for 30 years, so I understand the need to work out the kinks of a new place. The beer was fantastic and I look forward to trying them all. (I like mine dark, strong, and hoppy). I hope it does well here and I will definitely be back to give it more chances. read more

Ok...stopped on the way home from Kingston on the hopes that the 44-55 IPA would be back and lo and behold....they were tapping a fresh barrel of this awesome stuff at the very moment we arrived. I was fortunate enough to get the very first glass and it was SO excellent! Also, it happened to be 1/2 price wing night so we decided to have them as well. Again, AWESOME! We love this rustic little place and will most definitely be back again!! This place is located in the old Oskars Restaurant on 44/55. Stopped in on a Friday after hiking in the Gunks. Great atmosphere, the interior is very well done with reclaimed timbers and hardware from a barn on another property owned by the owner. Very rustic, cozy feel. Only 6 beers on tap to choose from, but all were made on premises. They also have one guest tap that rotates as well. I ordered a Brown ale and the chicken wings. The wings are only offered in one sauce, a homemade BBQ style glaze that has a bit of a kick to it. Very sweet and tangy. The wings came out, and were cooked PERFECTLY IMO. Well done enough so that the skin wasn't stretchy, and the sauce had a little bit of crispy charring to it in spots. They were juicy, and the portion was fitting for the price. You order by the pound, but 1lb was enough for me. I like hiking the area and I plan on returning soon to try more of their food. Great atmosphere. My boyfriend and I headed up toward Minnewaska state park for hiking and we're looking for something to eat and drink after. We came across this place based off their reviews and we were not disappointed. During these uncertain times we were really not sure what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised. We were greeted by a nice young gentleman who was extremely helpful and hard working. They were pretty busy when we arrived and he apologized for our wait and brought our food out to the car for us. My boyfriend had the beach weather which he said was absolutely phenomenal and found it crisp and refreshing especially after our 10 mile hike. We had a long drive ahead of us so we ate our food in the car. THE BUFF CAULIFLOWER WAS TO DIE FOR if they weren't closing we would have ordered more to take home. We did however get a few beers to take back home with us, looking forward to coming back. Wish they were closer because this would be our weekly spot. read more

Quaint interior. Feels like you're in someone's living room when you first walk in. Bar in the back is handcrafted by the guys who run the brewery. Sat right down ordered a flight of 6 beers. The standard IPA's, Belgian's, Stout mix.. really nothing too appealing here or tastes I haven't had before but overall enjoyable. i took my wife to dinner at the Rough Cut last Sunday and we were thrilled to have found this place! The food was delicious. We had spicy calamari and jalapeno poppers for starters and burgers for dinner. Everything was so flavorful and distinctive. I had a dark, nutty, sweet ale that almost made me cry with joy. The restaurant is small but comfortable and just my style for dinner and drinks in the mountains. I will be going back. I'm sure a five star rating is in the making, as soon as I can taste more of their brew! read more

The Brew-master A+. The chef/cook not so much. Chicken wings were tasty but mushy. Calamari good and tasty. Salad good and fresh. All three hamburgers ordered med. to med.-well were totally BURNT to a hard charcoal crust on one side and put on the bottom of of the bun. It was apparent the chef/cook got side lined as they over cooked. But,to try and hide it,not cool. The right thing to do when he flipped the burgers over, should have been to toss them out and start over instead of being deceitful. Before writing this review, I brought the matter to the attention of the waiter after check was paid. I explained that everything else was great and showed him one of the burnt burgers, and that he needed to let the chef/cook or manager know. the response was like yea, ok, will do. No sorry or apologies I will go back and give them another shot with instructions on how my burger will need to come out to table and not look or taste like roadkill. read more

Great place ! Small, cozy , cool vibe. Interesting beers, and very well priced. Food was DELICIOUS! We started with wings, good sauce a little spicy but not too hot (only negative about the whole meal was that the wings definitely need to be crispier, not sure if the sauce made the outside a bit soggy but the flavor was good). Next we had the calamari with godzilla sauce ! Yummy and delicious. Omg i wanted to take home a container of the sauce and put it on everything. We then shared the homemade tomato bisque soup and the steak burrito which was probably one of the best burritos I have ever had. Lots of flavor and none of the ingredients overhwlemed each other , also toppes with homemade guacamole. We were in the area for a wine tasting and googled restaurants and even though this was about 20 minutes in the opposite direction of home it looked like a great place to try and I'm so glad we did. I really wanted this to be as good as the reviews I read. And the beer was great. I'd go back for the beer, definitely! But the food... Perhaps my mistake was ordering Mexican-inspired dishes in a brew pub? The nachos were frankly strange, with a salsa that had a sweet pickled flavor and the green stuff on top I expected to be guacamole was a fluffy pale green cream- or mayo-based with probably some avocado in there. Huevos rancheros had sat under a broiler too long, with over-cooked eggs (yolks too firm) and almost-burnt cheese, tortillas edges dried out. Beans were tasty, best thing on my plate, rice well-cooked. Hubby reported that his burger was nothing special. Kids meals were fine, chicken fingers were good. read more

The beer is incredible and for a nano brewery they are untouchable. I have many favorites. Kayne the brewmaster is leading the pack in our area with his eclectic variety of beer.
