Giving this two stars in regards to the catering pricing. This place actually is charging $45 for some hummus and olives. Not for 30 people, but for 10 people. Really? Are you putting truffle oil on it? Saffron? No mention of that in the description. I have to reimburse food costs for lunch for 6 people, and they ordered that, and some $10 lunch boxes. The hummus cost almost as much as the lunch boxes. I'm sure it was tasty, but $45 worth of tasty? Doubtful. This price should be cut in half. read more

I have wanted to try Roti for a while now so when I was at Foggy Bottom a couple days ago I decided to sop in & grab a bite to take home to eat. I ordered the Chicken sandwich which was pretty good. However, I was restless all nite, could not sleep & much to my horror woke up with food poisoning the next morning!!! I was sick all day & have NEVER felt as bad as I felt yesterday in my whole entire 25 years of life. Food = 4 stars. -- Most of the food is good though I'm not a big Mediterranean fan. I'm not really feeling the rice or the new chicken though. I've liked everything else that I've tried. Customer Service (1747 Penn Ave.) = 5 stars. -- I've never been to a restruant that treats its customers so well, especially if you go there often. Some of the employees that I commonly interact with are Michael, Marshall, Margee, Vanessa, Sandra, and Arron. I'd actually give them all 6's if the scale went that high. Price = 4 stars -- The price is fair but I wish they had half meals, I can't always eat it all. You can expect to pay anywhere from 7 to 12 dollars on a given meal, which is good for the area. Went to this place with a friend for dinner. I took a combination of rice with chicken kebab, 3 sides and pita bread. While the rice and the chicken could have been warmer, the pita bread came out fresh from the oven and was easily the best thing. Sides were also correctly prepared and tasted good. Service could have been a better too. Food is good and value for money. I'll certainly go here again sometime. read more

I don't know why I was afraid to try this place out. Wait, I do know. It's because fast and Mediterranean don't quite seem to go hand in hand. Boy was I wrong! After declining to try this place out over and over again, I finally went with some colleagues for a quick lunch. The line was incredibly long, but went by very fast. People know what they want in this place. Of course, I was overwhelmed by the options, so literally just ordered what seemed to be a pita, and had it stuffed with chicken and veggies. I treated myself to a cookie, since it was a cold walk there. Hey, anytime is cookie time right!?! $12 for said pita and cookie, and no drink!?! Alright, this better be good. I get back to my desk, and this bad boy was stuffed to the gills! That's when I knew this was going to be good. I had my own ten minute slice of heaven on a cold Wednesday afternoon while being swamped with cases. The meat was perfectly seasoned, the veggies were crisp and fresh, and the cookie tasted fresh out the oven. This may have been the best tasting quick and moderately healthy lunche (had I not had that scrumptious cookie) I've had in DC so far. Okay, I lie-this is the best quick lunch spot I've been to in DC. Now, mind you I haven't even been here a year yet, so there are plenty more spots to try. While I know it's a chain, I've never been disappointed by Roti. I've gotten almost everything on the menu and it's all delicious. Personally, my recommendation is the Venetian Plate - great way to try all the goodness there. The baklava was also pretty good and reasonably priced. While not quite authentic Middle Eastern food, it's another great option for lunch. The line might not seem long but moves pretty fast. Also, great management - the first time (pretty soon after it opened) I got to the register and realized my wallet must have fallen out by my desk. The manager insisted I take my food and eat and just come back any pay the next day! read more

This is a great lunch spot. I'm a fan of the falafel here - it's fresh, crumbly and not hard. Their spanish eggplant is a great side dish too. There's typically a long line but it moves quickly. As an added bonus, there's usually a person passing out falafel to people in line. read more

I really loved my first visit, so much so that we got the take out lunches for a staff meeting a few weeks back. Alas, I returned today to try the salad and found the lettuce to be soggy and the chicken to be fatty. The flavors are excellent and I still love the concept, but I probably won't get the grilled chicken salad again unless I can eat it right away. It didn't stand up to the 7 min walk back to my office. Also, I think this place is pricey on beverages! Sodas are pushing the $2 limit, which puts the total cost for lunch over $10. Boo! read more

We ordered takeout for 9 people and they got OVER HALF of the ORDERS WRONG, including some that were completely missing. The worst part was when we returned to fix it, they had the gall to blame us for the mistake saying we should have checked. Seriously, I'm supposed to inspect every bowl before leaving the store to make sure the ingredients match what was ordered? How about Roti does that while making the the food. I had a craving for Mediterranean food at lunchtime yesterday, because I often do, but sadly there are (were) no Mediterranean lunch places near my work. I consulted Yelp to see if there was anything I would consider walking to, and found, to my delight, that it was opening day at Roti. It reminds me of all those other ethnic cuisine-turned-trendy places (like Chipotle or Pei Wei) where it's some hybrid of fast-food/actual restaurant but doesn't feel like you're eating fast food. There is nothing wrong with this, aside from the fact that it's probably the least authentic ethnic food you can find. Regardless, I was really excited. So was the person behind me in line. We discussed how excited we were about a Mediterranean place opening by our offices. I got the falafel plate, which is just falafel with salad and your choice of sauce, and it was actually pretty delish. I almost never eat falafel because my first falafel experience was bad, but this was quite good. I went there again today and got the chicken kabob plate, equally delicious. Their roasted red pepper aioli sauce is very tasty. There is something very confusing about this place though; you have a choice of steak, chicken or salmon kabobs. I'm no Mediterranean food connoisseur, but I'm under the impression that lamb is kind of a staple. I was slightly confused to see that this was not an option, but, whatever. What's there is tasty. The staff is ridiculously friendly. I'm pretty sure this is because the place is still new and they haven't had time to become bitter and annoyed by lunchtime crowds. The prices are actually decent. I have a sneaking suspicion they might raise them once the place increases in popularity, but I really hope not. I agree with the other person who said there should be outdoor seating. In a nutshell, not the best Mediterranean food ever, but still quite delicious and satisfying, quick, decently priced, and a couple blocks from where I work! I'm in love with it. It was so tasty and relatively cheap compared to breadline right next door. I got the build your own sandwich and the fixings were awesome. Plenty of seats but we got there early (11:15am) and had no wait. By 12pm when we left the line was out the door. read more

If you like and are familiar with Cava, then you like this place. It has the same concept as Cava abd Chipotle. I ordered the chicken roti rice bowl and added some sides. It was really good! However, I didn't rate 4-stars because customer service really sucked! We stood at the counter for over 5mins before any of the workers said anything to us, even "hello". I went there for the first time today, and I loved that the service was fast and the food was (mostly) amazing (the chicken was a little meh for me, but that's probably just me). I tried the Venitian platter, and they really give you a TON of food for the price. I also had a piece of falafel off my dining companion's plate. The food here is always fresh and wholesome in my experience. Steak and rotisserie chicken are fantastic. Generous portions. Bang for your buck is very good. Some Keto friendly selections are available if you order a salad base, and pass on that bread, falafel, and hummus. Tip, the line can get quite long at lunch, and while it does move quickly you can avoid it by showing up a bit early, say before noon. Where I like the nearest Mediterranean restaurant is 40-50 miles away. So I am no expert on Mediterranean food. This place looks more like a fast food place and has no waitstaff. The staff worked together as a team to see if anyone had turned my cell phone in. Sure enough, an employee had put it aside and it was returned to me.
