Journal Entry, Tuesday, February 27, 2024 @ 16:46 (Military Time) Once Upon A Time, I was a LVN Nurse. Licensed Vocational Nurse working towards her RN, MSN until I finally got so exhausted & beaten-down by the revolving "PRE-REQUESITES SWINGING DOOR", where the College changed the required courses to enter eligibility "mode" to apply to enter the RN Program @ none other than the crookedness College this side of crooked; San Joaquin Delta College, where I obtained my LVN Graduation Certificate, after successfully completing my pre-requisite's for the LVN & RN Program, successfully & ethically... Now how is this relevant to crafting this exclusive, for Yelp! ONLY review of Ross Dress for Less? You may be, pondering; or not..... Well, it's not really relevant but as a nurse; nurses absolutely MUST TAKE CARE OF THEIR BACKS & FEET... Now this is where the review begins.... Several months ago, I had 2 Ross gift-cards I needed to use and I was in a pinch, as to desperately needing a solid, long lasting (if at all possible) set of "sneaker shoes"... Low & behold I've only washed them once in the time I've had them, less than 7 months I believe it is and they bounced-back, in better than ever shape! The outer shell was dirty due to this Valley Fever "Powdery Dirt" flying up in the air 24/7 & 365 days per annum... So here are some photo's of what turned out to be, one heck of a great deal & a reliable pair of "sneakers"... It was brought to my attention, recently by my Mother, that I walk on the "outside" of my shoes... After learning of this no-no-engrained-behavior I began to become aware of that nasty habit, and set out to change it... Well, I'm here to tell you that it is harder than it appears... But I feel better & so do my feet when I DO NOT walk on the outsides of my feet... Something else that I ADORE ABOUT THIS ROSS DRESS FOR(4)Less public storefront is their HOME DECOR... I don't usually shop for clothing here as it's pricing is out of my current restrictive "budget".... When I lived in Sacramento, California for several years, there was a Ross Dress 4 Less store, less than a mile from my home.... They had some really nice Home Decor pieces and great stuff for the ANIMAL BABIES that live with me as a family... I'd shop here more, IF I possessed more financial resources,... I'm awaiting the results of my SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance), "Appeals Claim" & when that comes-thru=Resolves, I will be able to enjoy my trips here with or without my supportive Mom, as right now; she shops here for the family & for herself & I'd LOVE to afford the same luxury.... Or is it gifting? Both, both options, sound delightful... :) Likes: The HOME GOODS Department, is immaculate with FULL SHELVES nearly 100% of the time. They must, have an immaculate, storage room, somewhere, within this clean, CLEAN, CLEAN, Storefront... I look forward to being able, to, purchase their HUGE COFFEE & BEVERAGE "Mugs" for my coffee and tea's & hot-cocoa's with Great VALUE, Walmart Brand, FRUITY MINI-Marshmallows... They are DIVINE TO Indulge-In, not, but to enjoy as often as we like.... They are more fruity than the name brand which escapes me and has been around for decades & decades..... The lemon I think it is, isn't overly over-powering, but the flavors really compliment each other... I understand these exact, mini-marshmallows, FIGHT MORNING-SICKNESS & Honeymoon-Cystitis too.. Not claiming any medicinal properties here just sharing what I understand to be beneficial from reading, Internet Searches and Personal & Professional Experiences...Best wishes with that... Fruit can heal. Ginger is recommended almost exclusively for morning sickness due to pregnancy and is wonderful for plain-ol'-nausea. My Acupuncturist Dr. Shen here locally in Modesto, California, recommended I ingest "Candied Ginger" for my non-stop nausea & I wasn't pregnant at that time. It worked to alleviate the Nausea; period! End of Story... Likes Continued: Ross Dress 4 Less Storefront Market, also has a department with some great brands & affordable pricing on Makeup! I'm wanting to get some blush for my face, that I cannot recall the name of now but I used to get much attention when wearing it and so did my best-friend in the ENTIRE UNIVERSE, Al, aka: Alicia. We go way back and she always had support from her parents so she could afford the best in life when shopping & living...She's an only child... Pet (Animal Babies & Babies!!!) as I refer to all of mine and I have a few too to care for each and every day... Their "Pet" area is usually, pretty, well-stocked and they have GREAT QUALITY BEDDING; Beds for them all as well, with a good variety to select from & they are affordable often under $25 dollars for an average sized velvet like material on some of them... BEDDING! They have some really attractive Bedding & Bed Spreads maybe? but for sure, Comforter's.... I LOVE WHITE COMFORTORS!!!... I just picked up @ Goodwill, down th read more

My mother is in a wheelchair we had to leave the countryside Ross due to the Isles being narrow.I spoke many times to employees about this matter but nothing has changed. You can barely get your shopping cart let alone a wheelchair down the isles without knocking merchandise clothing and purses on to the floor. This is a violation I'll be making some phone calls due to Ross ignoring my request. read more

Ross has always been hit or miss. It's discounted stuff and sometimes you find great things, other times you don't. This visit was just sad. Clothes all over the floor, items just shoved anywhere and everywhere. I understand that it's usually customers that ruin a place. Many people just stick items where they feel like but in this case, it was a mix of both. Most of the employees were just hanging out, not a care in the world. It's the unfortunate downfall of today's retail era. Pretty gross. read more

Their cloths are old , it looks like you are shopping from a goodwill store , some of the cloths are dirty and smells bad

Security at door asked for receipt. Gave it. He marked it then asked to look in my bag. Said it was new policy. Today is Tuesday and senior discount day. Full of seniors. He's going to get an earful. This review is for the Geer store. Employees wouldn't process return without receipt after being told I would receive a store credit. Manager expected me to look for similar items that they could return... never returning to any Ross franchise. Allie is the supposed manager and extremely unhelpful. read more

If my size was irregular, this would be my place to shop. Warning, only use cash with any of these liquidation stores. Their computer security has never been a priority. Over the years, I occasionally find something to buy, mostly for the home. I've looked at various Ross locations in the area for skate shoes, and they seem to have great sizes--for someone else. The prices are good but I have only seen one pair that was close to my size. This one seemed more craptactular than most, so I suppose the selection for women must have been better. read more

If there was a ZERO star I would click it. This place is beyond filthy. I came here urgently to look for a item I needed. I have been in hundreds of Ross stores in the Bay Area and have NEVER experienced what I did in this Turlock location. As soon as I entered the store I was greeted with vomit all over the entrance floor it was there with no sign to walk around it ( mind you we are In A pandemic) the aisles were crowded, it was very stuffy inside the store. Okay I though it's a weekend and that's just people shopping. Omg it looked like the store was robbed there were empty hangers everywhere just randomly hung near the check out area. The store was a complete unorganized MESS !!!! The people working there had no customer service skills, super rude not friendly and definitely hate there job. This organization needs to re evaluate this location. For a cute small town it should have a nicer organized store. By the way 35 minutes I'm the store and no one cleaned the vomit. Just security guard on there phones standing there. And employees walking by not acknowledging the disaster. Ross corporate office come and defend your reputation. I will never shop here. Rather drive 2 hours into the bay where they are clean and organized and wonderful service. read more

One of the better Ross stores around. The store was neat clean and organized & it was so easy to find what I wanted. Store manager was funny watching her catch someone stealing. She handled the situation great. I would definitely recommend this Ross. read more

Quite interesting, TJ Maxx use to be my fav over Ross but not here. This Ross rocks! They had many many darling cute....everything. Good Lord! The -1 star for hurting my wallet! Kudos to the manager here. The place was well lit, extremely organized. (I know what is up with that!!!) , friendly staff, well stocked items and no, I mean NO clothing on the floor anywhere. There was a sales rep really keeping the place tighty and the prices.....sure was much better than 2 door down at TJ's. :) read more

Funk this place! i havent been to this place since someone stole ALL MY MONEY out of my purse a year ago. They didnt do ANYTHING! only the cameras at the registers work and the ones that might have been helpful in catching the culprit the ones strewn all over the ceiling throughout the store) dont work!!!!! Not to mention the fact that while the police were taking my report the security guard at the door saunters over and says "another purse? he continues on to say how about 2 weeks prior someone had cash stolen out of their purse too!! inside job?.......me thinks. After i gave the report to the officer.........she asked me if i was going to continue shopping.................... i wanted to punch her in her face.......THEY STOLE ALLLLLLLL OF MY MONEY! I drove from Modesto to Turlock Ross store.. because this store always seems to have more of everything. If you look hard enough you'll find what you need. I have on each trip that I've taken there. Each department is always fully stocked. I like that. More chances of getting what you need. It's clean for the most part. And the staff is friendly enough. read more

As soon as we entered, the security guard was texting and didn't look up when he said a poor hello. My boyfriend noticed he continued on texting for quite some time after we entered. Fitting room closed 30 min early, which is NOT ALLOWED. Over the intercom, the manager was telling employees what to do. My boyfriend and I did not feel comfortable hearing what each of the employees had to do over the intercom. Everything was on the ground or in the wrong section. If you were looking for something in particular, you might as well go through the entire store. Only areas that looked clean are the main walkways, as if they were sort of kicked with the foot to be out of the way. read more

I hadn't been here in a while but went tonight. It seems that the standards for hiring has lowered. No professionalism at all.. As I was being rung up the security thought it was cool to blatantly talk bad to the cashier about a customer who was there with her family. Stating how she shouldn't have came out like that. The cashier replied "well she has a bf n 2 kids so someone likes it" the security continued with his rude remarks... and also he was talking bad about another employee named "Ana" who he said "that's my friend, jk. Just saying that makes me want to puke" these employees need to learn that they should keep their rude comments to themselves until they are in the break room or on their own time. Generally love Ross as a place to browse around in to find fun little things. This one just didn't have much selection :-(

This is generally a place to get some decent clothes at very cheap prices. Usually it is hit or miss. A great place for broke a grad student to buy a new pair of jeans, shirt, and shoes to replace the two sets of clothes that he or she has been wearing for the past year. read more

Kind of a mixed bag. I like to stop here every once in a while. You have to sift though things, but occasionally there is a great deal to be had here. Worst customer service, manager Shelly Mack at Ross stores in Turlock CA wouldn't return an item with my receipt she was so rude and insulted me she asked if I wore the shoes I told her no and she insisted I did whatever happened to customer service. I have done all my gift and Xmas shopping there for over 18 years not anymore I won't spend one dime and I will tell everyone I know not to waste there $. read more

I love, love, love ross, but that's just me. I search and search for the best deal. They have you basic name brand clothes. I think of them as below Tjmaxx, just a lil. Saturday mornings, expect long lines. Best time to go without a lot of ppl, I would say, during the morning work week or late evenings. read more

Prices are good. The quality depends on what you buy. They sell cheap clothing as well as designer. Checking out is slow. There are many times when there are only two registers open, each with a huge line behind it. Employees are usually neutral. They are neither friendly nor rude. Just plain neutral. Dislike that the shoping carts are not to be taken outside of the store. Really???? Their items are cheap and people buy lots of it. How are they going to carry it to their car? Oh!!, Yea!!, people will put up with it because of the store prices. I go there often, but sometimes decide against it just because I don't want to wait in like for checkout. read more

I always loved coming into Ross, until today. I came in earlier today and I believe was racially profiled by a security guard. I was looking at housewares and I noticed a security guard passed me and I didn't think anything of it. Then, I moved onto looking at some clothes, and noticed the same security guard still staring only at me, and standing in my general direction. At this point, I realized what was happening. I purposely looked at expensive purses to see what he would do. He got even closer when I did this, and EVEN CLOSER when I picked one up. Then I went on the complete opposite side of the store and looked at baby toys. And there he was again, only watching me. I then looked at shoes, and he even stayed in the same aisle as me for a little bit. I was so angry at this point, that I just left. Yes, this story may be hard to believe, but it is all true. As an African American, I should feel comfortable to be shopping in any store. You lost a valued customer today, and I suggest you train your security to watch more than one person in the store. read more

I used to love Ross, but I won't be shopping at Ross anymore. They now have carts that are unable to leave the store. Today I had a cart full of merchandise along with my baby. Upon realizing that I couldn't take my cart from the store I asked for a larger bag so I could put my smaller bags into it. They said they only had bags a little bit bigger. I could barely carry everything while holding my son. I almost returned everything and left, but the return line was very long and my kiddo was nearing nap time meltdown. Rediculous that you can't take the cart to load the purchase into the car. No one offered a bit of help as I struggled to repack my items. I always find something great in this Ross. It's very affordable and they always have new stuff out. Some of the staff are very nice but some just don't seem to care about customer service. Last time I went, I had trouble getting all my items out to my car (I bought a few house items including a small table) and ended up having to make multiple trips. The fact that the carts were not allowed outside did not help my situation at all. In my efforts to get everything out to my car, no one offered to help or even grab the door. I thought the "security" person would have at least tried or offered to grabbed the door for me when I was struggling to carry the table and hold the door open, but they just watched. I've been to this Ross before and on multiple occasions the customer service was lacking. read more
