I went to both Hobby Lobby's in Modesto and Turlock the last couple of months and I had nothing but really great experience. Of course it's gonna be crazy and busy during the Holidays. You just have to have patience and be kind to people while waiting in line. Several people on here claimed they waited in line for 45mins and the employees were rude....Lol....I only waited for 10 - 15 minutes each time. Time flies fast when you are talking with people next to you. The employees were very helpful and nice. One of the cashiers gave me a free small ceramic Christmas tree set because the tip was broken. I used to love this store. Being a teacher, I thought I could get some great deals at Hobby Lobby today. I did. However, the customer service I received from Carina, the cashier, was so herrendous that I will not be returning. The 1st incident... I stood next to my mom with my shopping cart as we were discussing other items I needed to purchase from another nearby store. Right before I could finish my sentence, Carina LOUDLY said, "Ma'am, we only have one line so please get behind her." I mentioned we were together and she ignored me. 2nd incident... While I was shopping, I found a toy in the clearance section that I wanted to buy for my Special Education class that would have been a GREAT non-edible reinforcer. When I told her I got it from the clearance section, but it didn't have a tag... Right away her response was, "Well another customer put it there." I responded with, "Well there were about 3 or 4 of the same toy in the clearance section. So, if it isn't clearance I don't want it." She told me she'd check. She called someone and hung up and said, "Like I said it isn't clearance and someone put it there." I let her know again, "Then I don't want it." As she finished ringing me up, I asked, "Do you have a teachers discount?". Very rudely, she said you need a teachers card. So, as I reached for my ID badge and said, "Like my ID?" She rudely said, "No, a teacher debit card." I explained to her that wasn't a thing and the majority of school district uses PO's. She completely rubbed me the wrong way from when I first got in line until I left. Tried to see if I could contact Hobby Lobby, but they only take phone calls or you can physically write a letter. Maybe you should have a survey on your receipt, so Ya'll know how your employees are treating customers. The people stocking the store were much more helpful and cheerful than she was. Maybe Carina should be pulled for a bit, if she can't show GREAT customer service. read more

Went with my 2 toddlers to look for some kids books since they have great prices on them.. Nothing like being followed through the entire store by a grown man with your two small children. Realized it was loss prevention, I'm already super paranoid being out alone with my littles, so this was just great! Big bright new store with ample parking. I swallowed my distaste with corporate policies because I needed a specific item in a hurry. As I was checking my receipt before leaving, a male employee started loudly critiquing my body to prove his theory that I'm trans. This is unacceptable. It is not a safe environment for any woman. Good guest service and was introduced to a wonderful selection of items. I was purely looking for something for my girlfriend and I found myself wandering indecisively on what I may want or need. Two of the employees were genuinely kind and nice, informative on items I was specifically on the look out for purchasing. I put two stars because at the end when I was getting my stuff checked out, a woman who I assumed to be the manager would ask me if I had put something in my bag, wrongfully and falsely accusing me for stealing. What urged that decision? The way I looked? What I wore? There was no need for that confrontation when I was quite literally in front of the cashier. I personally work retail myself and I KNOW how bad it is, but if you are looking at every person and assume they're there to steal, well, that's not very productive or professional. They have cameras for a reason, maybe hire an Assets Protection team and get more cameras if it truly is a big deal. Two stars for the two employees who were genuinely kind, and lost the three from that insignificant and stupid interaction. I may come again for business, but there best be an improvement. read more

This is a large beautiful hobby shop for the entire area. The employees are very knowledgeable and helpful and you can find hundreds of different items and activities for kids. I would keep an eye out to make sure you're not paying full retail but many times I am 30 and 40% off a majority of the items in the store. read more

Even if you are not a crafty person, don't let the name Hobby Lobby deter you from visiting! I love this store for decorative accents for my home and work. I have also purchased items for birthday and holiday parties. Hobby Lobby always has sales, and it seems like items are almost always 50% off! Most recently I purchased some adorable chalkboard signs on pedestals which I plan to use to write menu selections for each food and drink station (whenever we are able to start entertaining again). Sometimes it can be challenging finding an employee to request assistance, but whenever I've asked for help, I've been treated kindly and always assisted. They have similar but an expanded inventory here compared to their Merced location. This is the place to come if you want some home decor with distinct personality and /or humor. They have a great variety of home decors and a ton of plaques and decor with maxims and Bible verses. They have decors for every room in your house. Wow! Better than what I expected, at least for this location! My first time to visit Hobby Lobby anywhere and gotta say I am impressed! All my life, I have only know of Michaels or Joannes for Arts & Craft stores. Didn't know this one can be as good or even better! They have large varieties - furnitures (which Joannes or Michaels have none), arts, crafts, frames, home decors, etc. This place is very roomy and spacious inside, clean and well organized in a way that is warm and inviting for customers to wanna come and enjoy. I was waiting behind the red line and walked to the side of my cart to see if my daughter wanted something that was in my cart that was her and I had the cashier scold me loudly to move back. Then her smart mouth "Karen" customer said, Please! I told her and the cashier to stuff it. I moved to another line where a man was standing there with NO MASK and not one word was said to him from any of the cashiers, customer service manager or manager. Then they opened up a register where the customers were back to back from us not even 2ft apart!!! I pulled a Karen and asked a manager to have her cashier settle down and not embarrass customers if you're not going to follow the Covid procedures with ALL your customers. We came here to take advantage of the 50% discount on the early season Christmas decorations. Spent close to $300 and enjoyed the selection. However, when we came to the register to pay, the lady working the register next to us was extremely rude. I didn't get her name, but she seemed to hate her job. She looked over her shoulder into the line I was standing in and told me I needed to stand behind the red line. I was clearly standing behind the line by 2' and I asked the lady if she was referring to the line I was clearly standing behind, as she was making a big deal about it in front of several people at the end of closing time. She then continued to state my cart was over the line. Really? I'm pretty sure if the carts are properly sanitized covid is not gonna grow a cape and fly ahead 6' and jump onto the customer paying in front of me. The customers that were standing around me also thought it was rude and spoke up on my behalf. I love the store, I usually have a good experience here, but I think a certain someone needs to work on her customer service a bit. Went with my daughter to purchase a cricut press, it was on sale for $189 from $199. The cashier who seemed to be new and training didn't catch that she charged full price. So after my daughter payed and we hadn't even next the line, I brought it to her attention. She called customer service manager Jose "Joe" and let me tell you- someone must have fed him a shit burger for lunch. He was soo unprofessional and rude. Instead of making the correction he asked 20 questions on how it rang up full price and how did we "catch it". When I simply asked him to make it right and refund my daughter the difference. He gets very defensive and tell us we have to wait in line at register one. We already waited in a long line and now he's telling us to go to another line to correct their screw up? He then pulled the receipt from my daughter hand and walked to another register. Then proceeds with " this would have been faster had we went to line one and pull him from his job and he now will not get his numbers". . Frustrated , my daughter says "it's only $10, he's rude" we start walking out and "Joe" yells "miss, we are doin the price adjustment in the computer , you have to stay". Are you kidding me!!? We walked out so he can get back to his job and get his numbers. My recommendation to HB- maybe invest in some customer service training for your employees, addressing difficult situations and review of procedures. I get that the days of the customer always being right are over but acting like a rude asshole isn't right either. read more

I collect various diecast adult collectibles, and sometimes you find ones the are out of package or the packaging is damaged and I'd like to buy them to make displays. But when people find them out of package and damaged, why in the world would you expect any adult collector (as who the manufacturer say it's for) to want to pay full price for something damaged!!! People really don't want to hear about your employees personal life and plans especially when there is 1 register open and 10 people in line waiting for your register lady to quit talking and to ring up! I went in had stuff in my cart and walked out empty handed because she was taking forever to ring people up and was just talking away like she had all the time in the world. Went to hobby lobby today. I come here 2, 3, maybe 4 times a month and spend a significant amount of money each time for my home crafting business. Today there was a female supervisor who happened to walk by me and in no way made herself scarce, continued to follow me throughout the store. I did have a basket and several things within it. I, without a doubt, knew she was following me. I would be in an isle, and BOOM! There she was. Over and over throughout the last 20 minute within the store. She not once asked me if I needed help with anything, just kept following me all the way to the register. I found out she is the assistant manager named Sandra. Well Sandra if you are reading this, the least you could of done was show some good customer service and asked me if I needed any help locating anything, but no, she continued to follow me causing me to feel extremely uncomfortable. Sandra, maybe some of us are faithful customers and enjoy coming here just to walk through and look at the many thousands of items that hobby lobby carrys and helping to de-stress from life. So people, Sandra needs some managerial training. But I would like to thank Staci, her superior for taking the time to let me vent regard her employee. Girls, I'm 57 years old, I can believe that I was targeted the way I was this afternoon. Obviously I still needed to vent!
