Tres chic boutique! I stumbled upon this place by recommendation from one of my arsenal of beauty specialists. It is a tiny little shop filled with a wonderful selection of girlie goodies. Wonderful candles, lotions, potions and shiny baubles. What is not to like? They also have some really cute baby trinkets and gifts which would be perfect for baby showers. I only wish there was more floor space because it can get a little snug walking around the displays and fellow shoppers. All in all a nice place to find a gift for that discriminating recipient. Just like other reviewers, I stop in here often for a fun unique gift. However, the last few trips have left me feeling annoyed with no desire to go back. The customer service is irritating. If they aren't following you around the store practically on your heels, they are asking if they can put something at the counter for you regardless if you have items in your hand or not! I've spent a lot of money there over the years and I don't appreciate being followed as if I were stuffing trinkets in my pockets. You have cameras, watch me like a hawk from there if you so desire. The staff is uninformed, impolite, and snobby. It is unfortunate, because it is a great shop with a lot to offer and there aren't many like it in the area. Please adjust your approach. Woah. Have I really not reviewed Fleur De Lys before?! For shame! I've been coming here and loving it for years! They have an insanely wide selection of jewelry (including lots of antiques!), paper goods, and bath and body products. I purchased the most beautiful antique French gold ring for myself several years ago, and their antique ring selection continues to tempt me every time I come in. The staff is incredibly helpful and kind. I was looking for something pretty specific the last time I came in and they were so patient with me and picked out a bunch of options that fit my needs. I could spend hours in here! I got particularly hung up on the earrings and brooches (the military-looking ones were very cool). As PPs said, it's Parisian, with heavy art nouveau influences. If you are looking for gifts and have a $10-100 budget, you'll easily find something unique. The staff is helpful and professional. Based upon the yelp reviews, one would think I would have hit it off big with this place, but no. The gals working were very nice, the store itself was cutesy and smelled pretty good, but I was under the impression that the selection would be greater. Everything was organized, but seemed cramped. I thought the store would have more of a Parisian-theme, afterall it is named Fleur de Lis, and the French decor was so scarce. Best Boutique in Modesto CA. PERIOD. This place is STUFFED to the gills with all things fabulous. If you need a hostess gift, baby gift, girl friend gift, or retail therapy this is the place. Located in down town Modesto, this place is in the middle of office spaces. From the exterior it appears to be "blah" and "business". There are a few attractive pots in the front, but nothing to that would make you think the interior is one of the best things going for MO town. The interior is tiny and packed with shelving counters and wardrobes filled with clothing, towels, jewelry, potted plants and on and on and on. Fleur de Lys is locally owned and operated. Vive La France! This shop is a treasure trove of all thingss French. From antique armoires to beautiful linens. Lotions, Candles, Glasses and Dinnerware are all here directly from all areas of France. From Paris to Aix En Provence...this is a beautiful shop to while away your afternoon. The owner is a very cool lady that goes on buying trips several times a year to keep her merchandise fresh and up to date. I have shopped here so many times, it is one of my usual stops on my way downtown. I was back in my hometown for the holiday and decided to support a local small business for "small business" Saturday. Sadly, I wish i would have spent my time and money elsewhere due to the extremely poor customer service. Being that many items in the store are fragile and delicate and I asked a couple of times for the price of a few items (I wanted to avoid having to unstack multiple plates/candles etc to find the price). However each time I asked one of the ladies working, they seemed very annoyed that I would ask for the price of an item. One of them even rolled her eyes when I politely mentioned that would pass on an item due to its price. Unfortunately, poor customer service from "entitled" employees has turned, yet another, customer away from this otherwise charming store front. Its a real shame. read more

This is not your standard "country" store, but an upscale classy boutique, filled with an excellent selection of quality items, from candles & plates to scarves & purses...I found things for the very young (baby clothes) to the young at heart.with many items on sale. It is a must see anytime I am in the Modesto area. We travel a great deal and shop in significant areas with specialty stores and I always marvel that such a lovely shop, with such lovely treasures as Fleur de Lys has, is located in this small city. First let me tell you I have spent thousands in this place over the years, literally. But recently, my experience there has left a bad taste. Before completing my last purchase ($200) there, I asked the salesperson when they were going to have their annual sale -- as a loyal customer, I know that everything in the store gets discounted 20% at that time. She said she didn't know and asked out loud if others knew the answer.No answer from the owner who was in the store, or any other salespeople. She rang me up. 3 days later, I get the flyer about the sale-- starting in only a few days. I go to the sale, explain to the owner my disappointment politely (I would have saved $40 if I would have waited for the sale)--she seems to avoid me after that.I explain it to the salesperson from a few days before --she says it was decided at the last minute. Really? I received a printed flyer by mail 3 days ago. Even Macy's will make an adjustment for something that goes on sale less than 6days from time of purchase. You shamed me for asking. I no longer feel like a valued customer. Even though I do not share the same snooty social circle as many of their other customers, my money has still spent the same for all of these years. I plan on returning all my full priced items! Fortunately, I can find the items sold in that store from many other sources. read more

This is an amazing little gem in Modesto. It is the best place in the Central Valley to shop for gifts, ranging from candles, to handbags and beautiful jewelry. My friend and I went in a week ago. We were smelling perfumes, and I asked about one that I was interested in, as I couldn't find the bottle. The sales girl came and handed me a box, which I purchased. I got it home, tried it on & it was not the scent that I had smelled in the store. She had given me Les Fleurs, when what I wanted was Lychee Rose. I took it back this week, since the sales receipt said returns/exchanges were accepted within 14 days. The girl asked me if I had tried it on. I was honest (it's a rollerball), not sealed. I told her that is how I discovered it was the wrong scent. They refused to exchange it. They were incredibly rude both times we went in. I'm not sure what makes a sales clerk in a shop think they are better than their customers. Customers that are likely more educated, and without a doubt make more money than you. Snotty little girls. Shame on the owner for not honoring their return policy, and for hiring the staff she has hired. read more
