Use to be a fan. Not anymore. The staff is continuously rude. They ignore customers who walk in, the paint is never in spot you can find let alone see, many items simply out of reach (with no help offered, ever) and they gossip about others in front of customers. And it doesn't matter if they are "busy" customers come first so you can stop painting in the back room and assist paying customers. The staff needs to re educated on customer service and professionalism. But since they are all friends with each other I don't see this happening anytime soon. There are a lot of other businesses downtown that actually greet you when you walk in and ask if you need any help finding anything- this isn't one of them. Skip it. read more

Went in and i regretted it so much. Walked in and was not welcomed but others walked in right after and they greeted them. Looked at my family and I in a rude way. Not a very friendly place to shop at. Over priced items that you can find cheaper else where with better hospitality!! Rustic Roots needs new staff asap!! It's quite a drive from my home but it was definitely filled with high quality beautiful furniture and decor!!

I had a curio cabinet refinished and it is a mess!! Didn't even clean the cobwebs & dust off it. Parts are unpainted, runs in the paint & just a complete do over as far as I'm concerned. Sure wasted $700!!! I would never have them refinish anything for me again. read more

As a semi regular customer of Rustic Roots, I find it's time to finally leave a review. I have ALWAYS purchased stellar, quality pieces. I have watched the store and caliber of work improve over the years with the development and training of their employees/painters/crafts people. I have met with the store owner for consultations and she has customized and brought to life a few family pieces of my own. I think Turlock and the residents are fortunate to have such a unique store in our town. You won't find Pottery Barn knock offs but true, original, beautiful work. The staff have always been helpful and ensure that I am greeted and helped as soon as they are capable. I'm not one to demand attention when it is obvious they are busy with other clients. Their attention to their customers and friendliness is a high point of my visits. Their knowledge of their work, technique and product is stellar. I know I'm always in good, honest hands. Kudos to Rustic Roots for standing out in downtown Turlock. read more

Jenny and her staff are amazing! I love the new store its much bigger and holds so much more beautiful furniture. She also teaches "how to chalk paint / glaze" classes as well! I've had Jenny build me a custom entertainment center that turned out awesome along with about 6 other pieces that I have purchased from her, kitchen table, kitchen curio cabinet, free standing shelf units, an old record player box ( my favorite one with the french twisted legs!!) and some side tables. I've been wanting to come in and check out rustic roots but I've heard terrible things about their staff so I never bothered. I went in and the store was cute but everything I had heard about the stuff was true. Unfriendly and rude. Specifically the girl with medium length dark hair. She ignored me when I went in, and when I was acknowledged she gave me the dirtiest looks like I wasn't welcome. She was also gossiping, loudly, to another employee. Unprofessional. I wish I would've asked her name because many other people I've talked to described the same girl as rude and unpleasant. If you're looking for a damper in your day, visit rustic roots. read more

Was interested in purchasing a nice table when I noticed the staff speaking offensively about a young mother & her small daughter who were also shopping in the store. The little girl appeared to be about four years old and was chattering in excitement. I did not feel that the little girl was misbehaving & was shocked when I overheard the rude comment by the staff about the little girl when they said "Don't you just wish some kids would shut the f*** up". I was horrified and felt worse because I realized that the young mother also heard this & quickly ushered her daughter out the door. After that rude comment I no longer wanted to purchase anything and in fact will never return to that business again. Very disrespectful of customers & can only imagine what they say about others. read more

Just visited Rustic Roots again and like many times over the past years, I always enjoy my visits! I find the staff to be very friendly and knowledgeable. I love that It's a 'working' business, which means most times when I walk in, the employees as well as the owner are walking around in their paint aprons, or working on furniture pieces. To me, this means they definitely know what they're doing and whatever I may buy as far as furniture pieces, are finished very well. But they still are always quick to greet me and offer to answer any questions, or just let me peruse. I'm so glad they moved to a larger location right around the corner, because it's allowed them to bring in more treasures for me! I truly love its charming, vintage, and fun pieces. So awesome to walk in and see different items each visit! Living in a smaller home, I can't purchase many of the larger items, so I was really happy to find out when I recently spoke to the owner that she's working on bringing in smaller items. Which also means that they'll fit a bit easier into my budget :) Love walking around our Turlock downtown with all its unique, home grown different stores and this business just adds so much to our little town!
