Rosebud is one of my favorite coffee shops in the area. Located in East Pasadena on Colorado with plenty of parking in the back lot and on the street. I've been here a couple of times and Ive only had their americano which was sooo good. I love the mug they serve it in too! There are plenty of tables with an abundant amount of outlets perfect for studying! The volume level is low and no obnoxious music blaring in the background. read more

Nice place to study with plenty of space and outlets! I came by on a Saturday afternoon to study and it was not as packed as I expected. I ordered a Lavender latte with oat milk and it was really good, but a bit pricey at $6. The drink was perfectly made with a good blend of bitter and sweet from the coffee and milk. The cafe wasn't too loud either and I was able to get a good amount of work done there too! Parking is available either in the lot in the back of the place or you can find plenty of street parking in the nearby residential area next to the lot. There was plenty of parking when I had come. I'm glad that I found a new place to study at in Pasadena and I can't wait to come back to try their other coffee drinks! read more

I found my new fave study spot to actually get work done! I almost don't want to write this review, because I don't want this place to get too crowded. Being a bit selfish.. but it def deserves 2 thumbs up. Quiet enough to not get distracted, but loud enough to not zone out. There's plenty of seating for 1, 2, 3, or 10. There's not as many drink options - it's just the basic. I've tried the lavender latte & americano - both decent. However, it makes me more ok with spending coffee money when I know what my money is helping. I love that they employ homeless youth, giving them a place to go to, and hope for a better future. Way to go! And best of all, especially in Pasadena, there's a FREE NO-LIMIT parking lot! Yeah, that's rare. read more

Another feel good coffee spot on a relatively sleepy stretch of Colorado Blvd in Pasadena that nails down a perfect coffee. Combining thoughtful preparation along with getting the espresso to milk of dietary preference (cow/vegan) ratio just right, the baristas at Rosebud deftly handle their Cimbali (or maybe it's Marzocco) machinery. You can get a pastry (or five!) as they're delivered super fresh every morning. But by early afternoon they're almost all gone! And among that mix of delicious baked goods, they even have a handful of gluten free items that are quite tasty. Huge and spacious place, extremely perfect for studying because of the quiet and comfy atmosphere. The wifi was working excellent when we came there and there were lots of electrical outlets in the cafe. I got the cappuccino and my bf got the macchiato and we both really enjoyed our cups of coffee and we really did enjoy our study/hangout time at Rosebud. Came here for lunch with coworkers and had the most amazing lunch and drinks ! Such a quaint and cozy coffee shop in the city. Prices here are competitive and there is ample space to grab a quick bite with a friend or even just study / have alone time. Very spacious and clean inviting space. I needed a place to study at this weekend so I decided to check out Rosebud since it has great reviews. I ordered a Chai latte and was a bit disappointed that it didn't come out with cute latte art (not sure if I was suppose to ask for it). The drink itself was a bit too bland for me. I like my chai a little sweeter. However, it is a great place to study! Lots of tables and bar seats set up with a good amount of outlets around. It's relatively quiet so I didn't feel distracted by other people. There's also a huge parking lot in the back as well as street parking up front! A sad change in quality and service at Rosebud Coffee - a sign of arrogance and privilege invading our neighborhood. Today, I was deeply disappointed by a Hi Top blend pour over, poorly executed. The beans were fresh, grind size accurate and brewed correctly except that it was served in a cold stoneware mug. When you serve a hot drink into a thick cold mug, the mug temperature tampers the drink temperature, ruining the experience of a pour over coffee. The cold temp of the mug, detracts from the hot brew, changing the temperature and flavor, and voids any value you'd expect from the $5 (minimum cost) pour over brewed drink. -- as a side note and someone else mentioned this as well, there's no pricing on the menu. The pour overs range in price depending on what you select. When you ask the cashier how much, she responds "which one are you thinking of?" seeming as to still hide the price. Sneaky and lacks transparency imho. I've been coming to Rosebud consistently since it's early years when it first opened as a part kids zone, part cafe, for not only their philanthropic targets but also as being one of the most reliable quality coffee shops on the east side of Pasadena. Sure their costs are a bit higher but until today you could expect a quality and service. When I informed the barista at the cashier who made the pour over of today's issue and it's impact, she smiled, said "thank you" and took the mug back. I don't need a refund, I don't need a new cup. But I was taken aback by the reaction - No apology, no acknowledgement of serving technique - just a fake smile and a bone-chilling cold-hearted response, as icy as the mug as it left my hand. It only shows somehow this philanthropic neighborhood coffee spot has been tainted by the superficial nature of media fame, and legacy reputation. Keep coming here if you want to disappoint yourself while supporting a good cause. I probably will since there's limited options in the area but will stick to a to-go cup. read more

How about you start out with a greeting. Cashier: "Good morning" would suffice, especially for a new customer who chose you out of the other cafes in the area..AND THEN, NO explanation of the items, just a low mumble of "menu right there" (no pointing), giving of..answering questions like....i could have given better information...haha. And then to top off, NO eye contact from baristas. Even after three attempts to make connection and politely asking, "this is a cappacino, right?", "hi, is there vanilla in there?". I mean i had to check because the cashier seemed lost..and I'm paying 5 bucks and drove here and first time. Just head low "mhmm"s. HOLY MOLY. Not sure why this place gets rave reviews, except for the coffee tasting good. The service was poor, she (girl with pink hair) did not greet, smile, nor look us in the eye, she seemed more annoyed we were even there. We ordered toast which wasn't made until 20 minutes of us sitting down, we had to remind him, and received no, "sorry for the wait", only it will be ready soon. I hope these people are not the owners. It's been 30 minutes since the place opened and still there are no pastries available to order. read more

I love how big the space is and layout is great because the tables are spread out. Also my kid loves the little play area. Granted lots of old toys and I'm sure it's germ infested, but it keeps him entertained so that's great! I get annoyed every time I pay because you don't know what they are charging, as the board doesn't have the prices. Ordered a hot mocha and a hot oatmilk latte. Both drinks had BURNT espresso. Not very tasty or flavorful at all. Staff is great. Strawberry pastry was good. I ended up going to Starbucks and getting a grande veranda. P.S. YouTube has a lot of very helpful videos on how to properly operate an espresso machine. read more

First time here. Flat white was delicious. They had a gluten-free cookie, which I always like to see. Love their social mission to provide jobs and support for homeless youth. I was really excited to try this place as a friend lives nearby and figured it would be a great meet up spot based on the reviews. Maybe I had the experience I did because it was 9 in the morning on Mother's day but it shouldn't be an excuse to provide subpar customer service. The staff, a young man and woman had little to no care in the world in assisting when I clearly was rummaging for honey in their self-help area. The woman, sitting on the table right beside it, didn't bother to ask if I needed help. I finally asked her if they have honey to which she said no, no honey. Didn't offer any other alternative and went back to working on her computer. I later find out they have agave. Why not offer agave as a substitute? Why not offer assistance when you can clearly see someone is need of it? Definitely not coming here again and hope you don't bother trying it to begin with because you'll be disappointed. read more

However, I didn't feel welcomed, the young girl who took my order was dry with no personality. I ordered both a pastry and coffee and sat outside in the front of the store at a table bc there were no seats on the inside. Recently visited Rosebud for a Yelp Elite event and really enjoyed it! Firstly, they have awesome parking which is unusual in Pasadena! It's a large open space, very warehouse-y, and the baristas were very friendly. I explained my typical preferences and she helped me with a custom order for a half-sweet lavender latte with an extra shot of espresso. She also made it with half pistachio milk and half oatmilk because I had never heard of pistachio milk and wanted to give it a try. Great spot! read more

Positive: the space is incredibly spacious and aesthetically pleasing, and the WiFi is great. The background jazz instrumental music only added to the environment. Perfect for studying or a coffee hangout with friends. Negative: my first impression from the guy at the counter was, "I don't want to be here, much less have you in here." Being my first time there, I told him what I was hoping to get, but the response I got was unenthusiastic and almost with a tone of annoyance. As I sat to work in some things, I observed that the guy at the counter had the same response to almost every customer that walked in. Personally, that left a bad taste with me. I feel if you work at the front counter of an establishment, you are the face of that establishment. Unfortunately the face I felt I, as well as others, were given was a face of annoyance and irritability. The drink was decent.
