I came here because I have had friends come and say great things about it, and now that I've been I can see why. This might become a regular spot for me. It's a great open space with lovely, large skylights. Who doesn't love all the natural light when they have to work on a computer for any length of time. It's great to meet up with friends or have a meeting outside the office. Their coffee is good quality. I recommend the mocha. They have a good pastry selection too. Their plain croissant is very flaky and light. I like! The music they play is present, but not too loud, which is good for me because I can be easily distracter. I get that this is a place where they are about helping homeless, but a few things you don't pick a expensive location off colorado blvd to do this type of philanthropic work. I recall hearing about some kick starter because you guys couldn't stomach the cost on your own....... have you tried looking for a less expensive option? This is like those homeless shelters dying to be in west LA or DTLA when a better place would be central cali or san bernardino.. the cost just doesn't make sense anyway, on to the review COFFEE - mediocre. I got a mocha and couldn't taste the coffee or the chocolate notes. This was a $6 cup.. my god. I basically drank a $6 cup of water with a splash of coffee I asked the employee if i could add more flavor or sweetener...... he just kind of...... leaned in and looked at me.. "what.. do you want me to do again? you want to what?" I duno man, there's a customer complaining bout a drink, do you a) stare at him until he gives you specific instructions or b) fix it Well, he chose a) and I had him add more sweetener, which was so watery even adding a tablespoon did nothing. i stopped bothering after that since it was clear he had no idea what he was doing they don't roast their own beans so why does this cost as much as say, intelligentsia, jones, jameson brown, or klatch? cost. does. not. compute. FOOD - order a breakfast burrito for $10, it was premade, dry, and all they did was heat it up. You can get much MUCH better, bigger, possibly cheaper, fresher, breakfast burritos all over just in a 1-2 mile radius around. this thing sucked donky nuts, DO NOT get the premade breakfast burrito. it was really dry and none of the sauces could save it BAKERY - the only redeeming thing so far is that they serve sugarbloom and it saves me a trip or shipping to get their stuff normally the issue i had with the bakery items is that the workers don't understand how to pack them. I ordered a few items with "sticky" or "creamy" tops, and the worker kept putting them in those waxy cookie bags. half my items were stuck to the paper. why not use the box for wet items and bags for dry items? gotta train the employees better Overall, not a good place, there are so many better places within a few miles that have a better product, with better service, at similar prices. i'm honestly surprised this place has such high reviews. if this place is a 4.5/5 on yelp, then the other places i mentioned above are what, 8 out of 5? 9/5? the cause might be good, but is it really a good cause when most of the profits go to rent on colorado blvd? c'mon now read more

I was looking for a good coffee shop to work remotely from and I am SO happy I found Rosebud. I got there a bit early around 8am on a weekday and it was quite empty so I got to choose my spot. There seemed to be outlets around and by the bar seating so I was content seeing as I was probably going to be there for a few hours. The space is big and very open, making it breathable - an attribute I rarely find in coffee shops. I got a hot lavender latté and croissant which were both delicious. The staff was very friendly and patient as I looked at the menu which I appreciated. WIFI- provided with purchase and had a very good connection throughout my stay. PARKING- soooooo much free parking both on the street and behind. Overall, a GREAT place in Pasadena for coffee. I can't wait to go back! read more

It was great to come across Rosebud as we took a walk along Colorado Blvd during NYE. We were actually in search for a warm drink as it was a cold night (by LA standards). Hot chocolate was on the mind and voila, we were standing in front of Rosebud. I have been to Chirp for a children's party but it had been a few years so standing outside, I hardly recognized it. The space looks nice and bright. There are a few tables and the coffee bar is towards the right side of the business. The hot chocolate was just what we needed. Customer service was great. A nice woman and man were taking the orders when we walked by. It will be nice to check it out during normal business hours. Street parking usually out front and along the side street. Chirp had parking spaces in the back lot so I assume those are open for Rosebud as well. read more

I came on a Thursday afternoon and there was plenty of seating and it was a great place to get some work done. There are outlets against the walls so not every seat has an outlet but it wasn't a problem since I was able to find a spot to charge my laptop. I really like the open space and the latte was good. Wack. This is a message to the owner, why do you have only 3 employees working during peak hours ? 20 mins for a coffee is absurd . Don't go cheap on having staff, it's a recipe for poor performance and slow revenue. You're only hurting your employees when you don't give them enough back up . They're overwhelmed by volume with only 1 espresso machine. read more

Rosebud is one of my favorite coffee shops in the area. Located in East Pasadena on Colorado with plenty of parking in the back lot and on the street. I've been here a couple of times and Ive only had their americano which was sooo good. I love the mug they serve it in too! There are plenty of tables with an abundant amount of outlets perfect for studying! The volume level is low and no obnoxious music blaring in the background. read more

3.5 stars. One of the better coffee-work-WiFi spots, with a bar. Cold brew is decent ($5.5). Plenty of workspaces with individual tables and chairs, and also communal seating. Few electrical outlets along with extension cords attached for sharing, not attractive but nobody cares if an extension cord is needed. This place would be 4+ stars if their restrooms are clean; their restrooms are one of the dirtiest I've seen with shit stained toilets and unkempt sinks, doesn't look like it was ever cleaned, and the restrooms are usually busy w/ a wait line. read more

Nice place to study with plenty of space and outlets! I came by on a Saturday afternoon to study and it was not as packed as I expected. I ordered a Lavender latte with oat milk and it was really good, but a bit pricey at $6. The drink was perfectly made with a good blend of bitter and sweet from the coffee and milk. The cafe wasn't too loud either and I was able to get a good amount of work done there too! Parking is available either in the lot in the back of the place or you can find plenty of street parking in the nearby residential area next to the lot. There was plenty of parking when I had come. Combining thoughtful preparation along with getting the espresso to milk of dietary preference (cow/vegan) ratio just right, the baristas at Rosebud deftly handle their Cimbali (or maybe it's Marzocco) machinery. You can get a pastry (or five!) as they're delivered super fresh every morning. But by early afternoon they're almost all gone! And among that mix of delicious baked goods, they even have a handful of gluten free items that are quite tasty. As for the vibe, you can find from wall to wall people working on laptops and just chilling. Very relaxed setting with no obnoxious characters jabbering away. read more

Huge and spacious place, extremely perfect for studying because of the quiet and comfy atmosphere. The wifi was working excellent when we came there and there were lots of electrical outlets in the cafe. I got the cappuccino and my bf got the macchiato and we both really enjoyed our cups of coffee and we really did enjoy our study/hangout time at Rosebud. Prices here are competitive and there is ample space to grab a quick bite with a friend or even just study / have alone time. Very spacious and clean inviting space. A sad change in quality and service at Rosebud Coffee - a sign of arrogance and privilege invading our neighborhood. Today, I was deeply disappointed by a Hi Top blend pour over, poorly executed. The beans were fresh, grind size accurate and brewed correctly except that it was served in a cold stoneware mug. When you serve a hot drink into a thick cold mug, the mug temperature tampers the drink temperature, ruining the experience of a pour over coffee. The cold temp of the mug, detracts from the hot brew, changing the temperature and flavor, and voids any value you'd expect from the $5 (minimum cost) pour over brewed drink. -- as a side note and someone else mentioned this as well, there's no pricing on the menu. The pour overs range in price depending on what you select. When you ask the cashier how much, she responds "which one are you thinking of?" seeming as to still hide the price. Sneaky and lacks transparency imho. I've been coming to Rosebud consistently since it's early years when it first opened as a part kids zone, part cafe, for not only their philanthropic targets but also as being one of the most reliable quality coffee shops on the east side of Pasadena. Sure their costs are a bit higher but until today you could expect a quality and service. When I informed the barista at the cashier who made the pour over of today's issue and it's impact, she smiled, said "thank you" and took the mug back. I don't need a refund, I don't need a new cup. But I was taken aback by the reaction - No apology, no acknowledgement of serving technique - just a fake smile and a bone-chilling cold-hearted response, as icy as the mug as it left my hand. It only shows somehow this philanthropic neighborhood coffee spot has been tainted by the superficial nature of media fame, and legacy reputation. Keep coming here if you want to disappoint yourself while supporting a good cause. I probably will since there's limited options in the area but will stick to a to-go cup. read more

I needed a place to study at this weekend so I decided to check out Rosebud since it has great reviews. I ordered a Chai latte and was a bit disappointed that it didn't come out with cute latte art (not sure if I was suppose to ask for it). The drink itself was a bit too bland for me. I like my chai a little sweeter. However, it is a great place to study! Lots of tables and bar seats set up with a good amount of outlets around. It's relatively quiet so I didn't feel distracted by other people. There's also a huge parking lot in the back as well as street parking up front! Cashier: "Good morning" would suffice, especially for a new customer who chose you out of the other cafes in the area..AND THEN, NO explanation of the items, just a low mumble of "menu right there" (no pointing), giving of..answering questions like....i could have given better information...haha. And then to top off, NO eye contact from baristas. Even after three attempts to make connection and politely asking, "this is a cappacino, right?", "hi, is there vanilla in there?". Not sure why this place gets rave reviews, except for the coffee tasting good. The service was poor, she (girl with pink hair) did not greet, smile, nor look us in the eye, she seemed more annoyed we were even there. We ordered toast which wasn't made until 20 minutes of us sitting down, we had to remind him, and received no, "sorry for the wait", only it will be ready soon. Granted lots of old toys and I'm sure it's germ infested, but it keeps him entertained so that's great! Very small drinks that taste okay. I felt ripped off because I paid almost $6 for a small matcha latte with lots of ice. The latte didn't even taste that good. They also only have one size for their drinks. It's an okay study spot but I don't think the drinks are worth the price. For the same price at Starbucks, I can get a good tasting venti sized drink. If you're going to charge that much, at least put it in a larger cup. read more

First time here. Flat white was delicious. They had a gluten-free cookie, which I always like to see. Love their social mission to provide jobs and support for homeless youth.
