Found this place because of yelp, and it lives up to the hype! So so so good. We got the potstickers, meatball satay, Steak pho, lemongrass chicken, and beef stew. Everything was delicious, but the steak pho and beef stew were the winners for me. Everything was fantastic, and the waitress was very attentive and polite. (who seems to know pho) as well as Brian C. gave the place 5 stars (scroll down to see it). I cannot. To me 5 stars indicates an exceptional dining experience, not just good food. OK, so...The place is a store front in a small strip type shopping center in Normandy Park (not Des Moines, although it is close). On first glance, it looks like a take out place, but upon entering you can see that the owners have done their best to make it look and feel like a small restaurant. I said I'd like to sit outside. I was handed a menu, and chose one of the two outside tables to sit at. It was an overcast day, so no-one else was out there. I sat out there for a bit, scanned the menu, which has many other dishes beside pho, and decided on a beef pho. Unsure of the process, I went back inside, handed the hostess my menu and told he what I wanted, (apparently they DO have full table service) My pho was delivered in a reasonable amount of time by an older lady, (the owner?) who upon delivering my pho, began to recite a rather lengthy prayer over my table. It was apparently in English, but it was hard to make out exactly what she was saying due to her accent. I did manage to eke out a word or two "family" and "long life". This was unexpected and I began to feel a little uncomfortable, not knowing how long this would take or how I should respond. In hindsight though, I think it was a nice a touch. Anyway, I thanked her and gave her a little bow nod sort of gesture. So, as I said, I did enjoy my pho, and I will defer to My L. to attest to the authenticity and quality. I think it's a good alternative for lunch if you're not drinking. Dinner? I don't think so. Atmosphere? So so. And for those reasons I am awarding 4 stars. Excelsior. read more

So the place is very clean and colorful, we had stopped in for lunch and they had a couple gals there waiting on tables. The service was very good the restaurant looks very clean we ordered an appetizer, i'm not sure if the appetizers were made in the restaurant or not, we also had Singapore rice noodles it had very good flavor it was mixed meat and the whole dish had two prawns. The biggest problem I had was I had two fortune cookies and two pieces of candy with my bill but I would rather they don't put my clean chopsticks in a dirty old reused paper sleeve with staples on it. read more

I came in right at the start of the dinner rush and you could tell they might be a little short staffed. It took a while for us to get our rice plates, which was good, but had small portions and the rice wasn't hot. We also ordered Thai teas that tasted very artificial. We've heard of Rose Pho for many years now but never bother to try it. Mainly because it's in a predominantly White neighborhood and it's too clean looking to be authentic Vietnamese. So sue me for being biased! Well, this place pleasantly surprised us. We ordered a pho, a fried noodle seafood dish, and their eggroll grilled meat noodle bowl. Everything tasted fresh - pho broth was very flavorful and definitely authentic! The fried noodles were not greasy at all and portion was huge! The noodle bowl was very refreshing and very generous with the meat. The customer service was also extremely friendly and courteous. I gotta say, sadly most Vietnamese restaurants in predominantly White area tends to be very snobby and rude when it comes to greeting other Asian customers. But this place is not that at all. They were respectful and very sociable. We felt that they care about each and every customer who comes through their door. We will most definitely be back! As our meal was served (bowls of steaming, fragrant pho with extra goodies, and a cold noodle salad with pork and shrimp and a sweet chili dressing to share) our hostess offered to give us a blessing. No, I'm serious. It was a quiet prayer, nearly unintelligible, but so sincere and lovely it really made our day. I don't know if they do this for everyone, but it was wonderful! I saw this place had a lot of reviews, so my 8 year old and I checked it out on our layover after an international flight and the airline losing our luggage. We were greeted so warmly, the food came out quick and was delicious, we were checked on twice to make sure everything was okay. And before I ordered I asked how large the large was cause my son doesn't eat much and we were going to share a bowl. The waiter went to the back to grab me the different size bowls which was so generous of him! They brought us a separate bowl for my son without even asking, and ice cubes for the hot soup and scissors to cut the noodles forThey then dropped off a plate of oranges and grapefruit for my son, and before we left they gave us a bag of potatoes and oranges. After flying in from an international flight, having a bad hotel experience, sleeping in our dirty clothes and losing our luggage, this brought a smile to our faces.
