I'm in Seattle visiting and found Rose Pho on yelp. Arrived around 815pm with my wife. Not many ppl here and was greeted and seated quickly. We ordered calamari and wings for appetizers and pho dac biet for entree. The food here is good but I was more surprised with the service here. Trinh is the owner of the restaurant and she has the greatest customer service out of any other restaurant I have been to. She's very joyful and I couldn't help but smile when talking to her. She cares about her customers and treats them as family. My wife and I were strangers to her but she gave us hugs as we left and wished us a wonderful trip and flight home. If I was a local here in Seattle, this would be my go to pho place. Good food and even better service. I may have to come back one more before I leave. Rose Phó is one of the nicest casual dining spots in Normandy Park / north Des Moines area. They're open long hours and have very good menu variety to suit a range of palates. There is an awesome outside seating area which is small, but welcoming because the area is quiet with low traffic. There's inside seating suitable for larger groups. We tried the "ho-fun" noodles with rice - a flat and broad-ish noodle but not as broad as "chow-fun" - with beef and the short ribs (beef) with rice. Appetizer was veggies spring rolls. Had booked marked this for quite some time now. But each time, I decided against it as it's out of the way. My hotels and where I need to go is directly East or NE of the airport as this place is directly SW of the airport. Anyway, this last trip, decided to make an exception and check it out. It was Monday night around 8p. Some of the places I wanted to go was closed already, so this place was it. I ordered my typical, which was large combination pho and grilled pork bahn mi. The pho came out first. Overall size was normal. The soup was good, but little on the sweet side, which means it probably has too much MSG already. I do like how all the meats are nicely sliced unlike some other places. The bahn mi came next. Overall, the grilled pork was very good actually as it has good grilled flavor with a hint of sweetness. But the bread was on the thick side as the proportion was more bread than meat content. My normal rule of thumb on sandwiches is that the content should equal or be greater than the bread (trying to cut down on unnecessary carbs). So overall, the food was just OK, and it's really no more than 3 stars. OK, so this is why they earned a 4 stars from me. The owner is extremely friendly. She asked me where I was from and was very nice to everyone. She went back to check with every table and started conversation with everyone through her broken English. For that genuine friendly family service, they deserve to be a solid 4. If I'm in this part of town, I would not mind to come back again. But do hope they use little less MSG next time in their soup. read more

Food is excellent, but the service was lacking. Myself and 3 other tables were all holding up our credit cards trying to get the attention of the staff pay our bill. In the meantime the staff stood in plain view of everyone while having a conversation between themselves, ignoring the customers. This lasted for close to 10 minutes before we all had to stand up and walk up to the counter to pay. So, before I even open my PHO that my husband JUST brought home-I have to write a review. We ordered from here as our usual place just recently had reports of not only roaches stuck to the bowls of someones food but also another reviewer posting a picture of a worm found in their veggies. Naturally, we got online straight away to find our new place. We called our order into Rose Pho. The owner took our order, very sweetly and in kind told us it would be ready in 10 mins. We rushed out the door with our one year old in tow. It was just to pick up to go but my hubby hadn't been to Normandy Park and I figured if this becomes our new spot he should know how to get there. Rolling up, we were excited. Big, bright pictures of the food shined through the windows and we could tell that the interior was sophisticated and very clean. The hubby ran in to get the grub. Then he ran back out. RUT ROW!! He got in the car and said, yea so I forgot my debit card! Oy, we drive all the way back to Burien and decided I'd stay home with the baby so he can go to sleep and now that he knows where it's at, the husband can go back to get our dinner. 20 minutes later my cell rings. It's the husband. Part of the cashier transaction was successful but it would not run the card for the entire amount. As I'm hopping online to see what is going on in our bank account, Dave is trying to explain it to the owner. I finally realize someone has our bank information and is spending cash fast.....I freak out, yell at my husband to have her reverse the situation and get back home. He gets home now. This journey started at 715p. It's been a long one. On the drive, he called me and tells me that not only were the people so happy he came back to get the food and thankful but that after the bank debacle the owner tells him to take the food, no worries. She said, just come back when you get it all figured out and pay us back. Ok, so now that I have my pho open and am eating it-I can tell you it is amazing. We started with the chicken pho to get a feel for this place and they do it very well. The broth is perfect, not to salty and full of flavor. The chicken is a good cut of meat, no gristle to be found. Everything is packaged well for carrying and we even got a couple of fortune cookies. We cannot wait to try everything on the menu. I could have spent the night crying into my pho over our newly found identity theft issue but instead, I am just going to be smiling. This righted our world (for the time being). Yum, Yum, Yum!!! This place makes the best pho I've ever had. I could probably eat here multiple times a week without getting tired of it. I like to get the rare steak with no cilantro and I have never ever been disappointed. The broth has a delicious flavor and I don't get the msg overdose symptoms like at some places I've eaten at. The restaurant is very clean and updated. There are two tv's, one that plays a photo slideshow of different places in Vietnam and one that is typically on the news when I come. They have an assortment of beverages and at least one dessert - probably more but I've never ordered any. The owner Trinh is the sweetest woman I've ever met, she recognizes me every time I come in. She greets everyone that comes in the restaurant very nicely and addresses you with words like sweetie, honey, brother, sister and lots of hugs and blessings. If this sounds like it would make you uncomfortable then don't come here. I know some people don't like that sort of thing. I don't mind it at all though. I have loved pretty much everything I've ever ordered from here. The only problem I've ever really had were the potstickers I had last week. I have never had any problems with their potstickers in the past but last week my boyfriend and I went there and ordered them as an appetizer. They were way flatter than usual and they had either olive or sliced mushroom inside. Wtf?! I have never seen that before ever in a potsticker. We decided to try this spot because of the 4.5* reviews. We love Pho and always trying to find yummy Pho. So we came in and a smiling lady served us..we ordered a nem cuon, two pho dac biet and a thai tea. Nem cuon - just ok...it wasn't one long piece..it was like cut up pieces...nothing awesome about it. Thai tea - not sure if I got a bad batch but I couldn't taste the tea...just sugar...it was like drinking sugar water. I know thai tea is sweet but man, this was just like water and sugar...yuck. I left it full. Pho - Ummmm not sure where to start. First the broth didn't have any beef flavor...it tasted like I came out of a can . And then there was like maybe 7-8 pieces of meat in the bowl. I don't know if people are use to that but when I go to other pho places, the whole bowl is filled with meat but not here. Very skimpy on meat. While we were eating, we hear like yelling in the kitchen...not sure if they were bantering around but that loud that the customers can even hear it?? Love the food, and adore the staff. Rose made me feel very at home and gave my Midwestern heart lots of warm fuzzy feels. I placed a moderate sized to go order in person (didn't call ahead) and the restaurant was full, without much room to sit down, but Rose suggested that I go to my car and relax offering me a warm mug of tea to drink (in my car). She then walked out the order to my car when it was ready (in less time than she initially estimated). Side note: I was taken off guard a little by her affection (to strangers), i.e. blessing customers, wishing them and their family health and prosperity, etc. ... I've been here multiple times and there is no doubt that the staff is super nice! Sometimes uncomfortably nice (praying out loud and hugging in front of a full restaurant). I would of given 3 stars, but I really dislike when people try taken advantage of others. We placed an order to go and found out that she was charging us 3.50 for a can coke! So, 7 bucks for two can drinks. I'm not cheap when it comes to food but this is a bit excessive, oh And an extra 4 dollars on the pho's we had ordered. I understand it's a business and they're allowed to charge whatever. But at least stick to what the menu says. This was really disappointing because I've seen other people complain about this and didn't believe it until recently. Just moved to Burien in October and was feeling bummed we were moving far away from our favorite International District Pho spot. Until we found Rose Pho. My boyfriend had been to the restaurant a few times in the past, and the amazing owner, Trinh, recognized him, even with many, many months passing! As a Vegetarian, I don't always have the best Pho options. I think the veggie broth is flavorful, super hot and loaded with fresh, yummy veggies. The spring rolls and pineapple fried rice are also favorites! The restaurant is always fully staffed and clean. Food is really good (I have only had the vegetarian pho, veggie rolls, and black pepper tofu). It's actually the best veggie pho I have had. Never really understood why people were big on pho until I had theirs. Dipping sauce for the veggie rolls is much better that what I get at another spot. Black pepper tofu is scrumptious! But, what isn't good fried?!?? Texture of the tofu is great. I would have given 5 stars, but they are kind of slow. Both times I have ordered carry out over the phone and told it will be ready in 15 minutes. Wait time ended up being at least double the stated time. Food is good enough that the time issue won't stop me from going back unless I'm in a hurry. If you have an aversion to hugs, or "God bless you," you might be a little uncomfortable! Lol! The owner is sweet, and will give you at least one hug, mention something that includes God, (God bless your family), and if it's near any traditionally celebrated holiday in the U.S., she will be wishing you a happy one!
