Yo... I drove deep to try this place. I neeever go to Des Moines but I found myself here tonight (and I dragged a friend). It's like 20 minutes away from home, which isn't bad, but I literally had no idea where I was!! Also, let me start by saying it's a solid 3.5, but I can't bring myself to round it down to a 3 because of how sweet the service was. It's in the middle of a little outdoor strip mall kind of place, so it has a nice location! Decor: Everything was very clean and really cute! They had a bunch of little quotes up on the wall everywhere which was I thought was pretty cute... And they have a nice blown-up mini menu up by the register so you can actually see some of the things on their menu when you first walk in. I found that Rose Pho is actually a lot cleaner than most pho places too, which always sits well with me. Food: The broth is definitely more sweet than what I normally like. I'm more of a salty/beefy broth kind of girl, so the broth wasn't my favorite at all. I was a disappointed in the cuts of meat as well - I got the brisket w/ well-done flank and they were super fatty cuts of meat. :/ They give you HUGE pieces too, but luckily it was tender enough that it kind of just fell apart. Service: I want to say that the service was picture perfect... I really do. And it almost was!!! But there was just one thing..... I ordered for myself, my pho and thai tea, and a to-go order for my boyfriend back at home. The owner (little asian lady) confirmed with me which card was mine, and which one was my friend's. My friend only ordered a bowl of pho for herself, so our receipts were very different in price. Even after confirming the debit cards, my friend got charged for my bill, and me for her's. So I paid $8, and she paid $23. :/ Outside of that mishap, the owner was SO SWEET. She thanked us for coming in several times, called us sweetie every other word, and gave us like 3 hugs each?!? She's soo soo sweet, it was literally impossible to get upset about her mixup. I'm not sure I'd drive out regularly, to be honest, but if I was in the area I would definitely come in again! I was sent to a 2-week training in Burien and stumbled upon this place. It was so good I probably ate there 6 times during the 2 week training. Each time, I ordered a different plate and was blown away each time! In addition to the great food, the owner and the rest of the staff are incredible. Here is an update, As we came back today to eat pho after church (because it was rainy and cold), I was excited that Ms. Trinh was back! Right off the back she remembered me and said my name (it was like music to my ears). Knowing most places, they either don't remember the people they speak to or don't even recognize them. Let alone, you don't remember managers most of the time... She was an exception. Anyways, she had explained to me that she is a very busy person and that she works a second job.. which might explain why she was absent for awhile. She really is a people person. She was like family. Now about the food, the food is as consistent as ever... in fact this time around, it was better than the first or second. Ordered the vegetarian pho and was delighted. It didn't even need any hoisin sauce or Siracha. Their fried garlic tofu was also fantastic!! Very savory and crunchy, nothing like I've ever tasted before. My taste buds kicked and scream for awesomeness. Customer service was also phenomenal, it might look rainy outside, but it was definitely sunny inside (I know cheesy). Very happy faces and fantastic atmosphere. Oh, water was almost always filled as well! Never had a service where water was plentiful, you would tho right? I don't know what I like more, the customer service or the food, but either way you will receive both. If you plan to come here, be ready to have a good day. Wow! I've had the opportunity to try Pho at top rated places from coast to coast and I have to say, the Pho here was one of my all time favorites! It's all about the broth and it was so good! God bless this kind woman. Our first time eating here after church, not only have we consumed such great food, but the service that Trinh provided us with was heart warming. This is what I call customer service. She definitely made all of our days, & I enjoyed my food with a smile. No half-ass service here, thank the Lord! What I ordered: Veggie pho - this dish has the smell of southern Vietnam pho whether is beef broth or veggie broth, there's a difference between the two but, it takes me back. The taste is flavorful, no need for condiments, but I do recommend taking a sip of the broth before you add your needed sauces. Black pepper Fried Tofu - Best appetizer I've had. Hands down, the taste reached my taste buds satisfaction. I wanted seconds. The sauce that comes with it, balanced the flavors fairly well. We were seated and greeted by the owner with a new year blessing on our health and finances. Then, she gave us both hugs and proceeded to move on chirply to the next table. I read reviews about her friendliness but did not expect that she would treat us like family. For a moment, I felt like I had came to visit my Vietnamese Auntie. My Husband and I ordered Pho and the garlic chicken wings which were both very good. Pho broth was very delish!! This place is amazing. We stopped in here on whim based on reviews. It was two miles farther than where we had planned but it was completely worth it!! We got egg rolls, Chili-lemongrass chicken with white rice, and combo noodle. Ticket was less than $30 and we had plenty to take home. Extremely clean. Nice atmosphere. Family owned and operated. Very classy interior. HUGE selection. Photos of most items on the menu so you know what to expect. Affordable and good quantity. Definitely good value for the money. Staff is amazing. We got a chance to meet the owner and she blessed us. Was such a wonderful experience and an exceptional meal. Can't say enough nice things about this place. Great family owned business! It's located in the new Normandy Park plaza on the left side. Extensive menu with lots of variety and delicious pictures. Fried Chicken & Egg Roll Appetizer -- Both are delicious and crispy! Asian fried chicken always feels lighter yet still crispy. Fresh and not too greasy. The egg rolls had a nice proportion of filling to wrapper and flavorful. I'm always a sucker for anything fried. Pho Tai -- Great big portion. My boyfriend was actually surprised at how good the broth tasted. Definitely hits the spot on any cold, rainy day. Lemongrass Pork Vermicelli -- Always my favorite thing to order at any Vietnamese restaurant. Pork was very flavorful and sauce was on-point. The only downside to this dish was that they lacked the amount of vegetables and peanuts that I am used to =( FREEE Creampuffs for dessert!! Tasty little things and pleasant way to end a meal =) Price was decent, not expensive for what you get and I wouldn't say it was cheap since I've paid less in LA, but this is normal for the area. Great place for pho in the Des Moines/SeaTac area! I haven't had any of their other dishes so this review is based solely on their pho. My main criteria for pho places (besides good broth) is that they separate the broth, meat, and fixings when you get takeout. Some places throw it all together in advance and then the meat is overcooked and you can't control your add-ins. This place packs it up separately with generous quantities so you can craft your perfect bowl once you're home -- and the broth is always HOT which is crucial. The broth is really strong and delicious. I find it just a touch on the salty side, but not so much that it's overpowering. The owner is VERY friendly and will come up and give you a hug and say "God bless you" when you come in. I'm not a fan of unsolicited hugs from strangers and don't think this is appropriate, but she is super sweet so it doesn't bother me as much as it might otherwise. read more

What saved the day for me was the owner delivering my Pho and saying a very nice prayer wishing me and my family well. She did this at each table, a very nice gesture. I came here for the Bun Bo Hue and compared to the stuff I can get down here in SoCAL, I thought it was pretty exceptional. The broth was sweet and spicy, a good combination to tantalize your taste buds. The noodles and beef they used were typical Bun Bo Hue fair. The difference was that the other items inside the broth were more Vietnamese sandwich meats which I didn't mind. The only thing I missed was the pigs blood which I find is a staple. While I can appreciate a great big hug, I think the owner may have over done it just a tad bit....she hugged me 3 times while I was arriving, eating, and leaving. I made my own combo of steak (well done) meatballs and tofu. The meatballs were tasty but not spicy which I liked. The steak was cut thin and yummy. The tofu was crispy on the outside and softer within. All very good! Definitely recommend. read more

The service was good, very friendly. The menu was easy to read, so it was helpful, and there were pictures for the type of meat (flank, meatball, etc..) for the pho. But none of that is important, when a small bowl of pho is almost $8.00. And when they say small, they mean small. Most of the time when I go to a pho restaurant, a small bowl of pho is a pretty large portion, but here, not even close. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but for the price? Not so much. I've been here 5 times and ordered the Rose Special Salad with Garlic Beef and Chicken/Shrimp Salad. Also, I've had the Mango Shrimp Salad, Summer Rolls, Singapore Noodles, and Kalbi Beef. Trinh, the owner who served me, shared stories with me, and even showed me how to properly mix my fish sauce and pepper sauce. Lunchtime, like around 12p-1p, the dining room is always crackin'. The food is served promptly and is fresh and delicious. Dinner times are busy around 6p-8p. I look forward to contributing more pics from this restaurant!
