Let me start off by saying how awkward we felt. We were greeted upon walking in and took a seat. Rose comes over and talks to us and then immediately starts praying for my brother in law who is wheelchair bound. I had no idea she was praying until I looked over and her head was bowed, eyes closed, and had her hand on my BIL's shoulder. She finishes by saying Amen and proceeds to get our tea and water. Throughout dinner, she kept saying "I love you" and asked my 9 year old son for a hug which he was very uncomfortable with. We are not church goers and practice a different religion. We are very easy going people so while we were not offended, it just made things very weird. My suggestion for Rose: pls ask people if they want your prayers. It's already a lot to have bible scriptures all over the walls in the restaurant. Food review: food was just average and overpriced. $13.50 S2 Combo noodle (bun, vermicelli salad) - just ok, maybe it was the fish sauce that was bland $12.95 N1 Special combo pho - son was not impressed, said the broth was just average $13.95 N14 Viet beef stew - hubby said it was good, above average $5.95 Grilled pork Viet sandwich - average $8.25 A10 House special chicken wings - good but there were only 2 wings chopped up which made for only 4 pieces. What??? $6.50 A7 Potstickers - not memorable and only 5 measly pieces $3 Tea - AMAZING!!! I didn't know there was an extra charge for tea since pho shops don't usually charge but OMG this tea was the best I ever had! I kept asking where they got this tea from and the only thing Rose said was that it's a jasmine tea she orders straight from Vietnam. This place is amazing and the server there is awesome! She gave me some really good ideas on what to try and they were amazing. I get the grilled pork spring rolls now and I also do file without in there too though I wish they wouldn't put as much meat in it. But it is absolutely amazing. Especially if you're pregnant, since you can't eat raw foods like that it's great to have them grill it up in the seem to have no problem with it. They're very quick and amazing! read more

Pho is generic. Pho restaurants are literally a dime a dozen in the Greater Seattle Area. What makes this place so much more different though is the level of attention and quality of service you get. My family was greeted by the owner, a nice lady, literally with wide open arms. She hugged each one of us and spoke to us as if she's known us for years. Such a warm and hospitable environment to be treated this way. Was wished a happy Chinese New Year, was told to "make lots of munnay," and was addressed as "hunnay" many times, and lot of other things you commonly hear from Asian ladies/aunties. She was nice enough to pour all of our teas, ensure we had enough water, was on top of everything. I was surprised by how charming she was with our interactions! I ordered the Thai Spicy Beef with Green Bean, and it was really good! Looking through the menu, everything seems reasonably priced and diverse. The food here is pretty solid. The portions are bit smaller so you might leave a bit hungry. Someone said there is no MSG in the food and well, that alone deserves a 5 star from me! I judge a good Vietnamese restaurant by a few basics including various Pho and Bun dishes... The dishes I have had have been good and it is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in a short distance from the airport. The restaurant is in a newish building and the area is much nicer (and closer) than my preferred Pho88(by the overrun Walmart in Renton). The one thing I am not a fan of is the very nice but super intense owner(?). She is always trying to bless people with good health and wealth. It is a nice thought, but it is just too much for me. This is the Canlis of pho places. Most pho places are linoleum flooring and minimal decor otherwise. Rose is nice right from the doorway--lots of pretty potted plants and tasteful signage. They don't want to be just another fluorescent strip mall storefront, and they've taken care to see to it that they don't end up like that. It's nice inside, too--flat screens mounted high on the wall, maybe tuned to the game. Subdued colors on the walls, nicer tables and chairs than the usual neighborhood pho joint. Well-built counter in back, dividing the cashier stand and kitchen pass-through from the dining area. You feel like you're in a restaurant rather than a to-go joint, without a doubt. The menu is extensive. 8-10 pages of vietnamese, thai, chinese, and other foods, including a fair few dishes you just don't see very often anywhere--pork pastry with pate, for one. Lots of helpful pictures. The staff here are ultra-nice. They're bubbly and chatty right from when you walk in the door. You get water and tea in front of you practically as fast as you get your menu, and the tea comes fresh in real cups--no silver pot. The appetizer rolls are spectacular, lots of flavor, crunch, and chew. That pork pastry is fantastic. The pho condiments show up early, and they're all picture-perfect--everything's crisp and colorful. The soup is a bit lean, but intensely flavorful. The broth is clear and pale, but has tons of savory seasoning to it. It's fantastic, though I've had richer, heartier broth with more marrow. I drove 30 miles to try it, and I'd happily drive 30 miles to have it again. The meat is clearly fresh, and the meatballs were solid. In the end, tea, two appetizers, and two bowls of pho were under $30. For such a nice setting, nice folks, and good food, this is an absolute steal. read more

We've come here on a couple of occasions and tried out various items: orange beef, orange chicken, stir-fried seafood with egg noodles, Banh mi and fried tofu. Entrées - all dishes were tasty and fresh but depending on what you order, it's quite expensive but you don't get a lot of food. $10.00-14.00 per dish. Banh mi- sadly, I'd have to say skip this. The French bread was soft, like a hot dog bun, and not the normal crusty French bread one's used to. There was limited meat and veggies. About $4.50. Customer service- now this is where they shine. The owner will greet you with a warm smile and usher you quickly to your table. She'll treat you like family since she calls everyone "brother and sister". She'll check on you to make sure you're satisfied with your food. And at the end when you're paying for the bill, she'll show her gratitude for you coming in and wish you and your family good health! What more could you ask for? Okay, maybe a hug. Yes, she will hug you when you leave. It's like saying goodbye to a mom/grandma. PRICELESS! read more

THIS IS THE BEST PHO I'VE EVER HAD. I don't take that lightly, pho is serious business. I've eaten a lot of pho in Vietnam and in Seattle and this place takes the cake. Here's why: I got the veggie pho and each component was perfect. The broth itself was flavorful and delicious, not watery, and the amazingly sweet owner Trinh was kind enough to point out that the veggie pho comes with veggie broth, not chicken broth like some places. The noodles were perfect texture and amount. The tofu was firm and lightly fried (you can also get "white" or fresh tofu. and the best part: the veggies were all fresh, nothing canned or frozen here. The heaping amount of carrots & broccoli were crunchy and mushrooms were fresh. I HATE those squishy canned mushrooms too many pho places use, but not here! In addition to the amazing pho, we had an interesting dish of shrimp & okra in a curry sauce on roti bread, definitely not your typical Vietnamese dish but again, FRESH okra, delicious sauce. We also got the crispy egg rolls which were perfectly crispy, not soggy, with a flavorful filling. Finally I had some sweet Thai iced tea and they finish with complimentary cream puffs. Beyond the great food, the owner is incredibly sweet to everyone, I would have thought all the customers were her friends or family, she sure makes you feel like it. The restaurant is clean and a pleasant atmosphere and service is prompt even when busy. Trinh is a rockstar. Though I live far off on Capitol Hill in Seattle, I will be sure to come here whenever I'm in area and will probably trek out here just for the pho. read more

We are regulars and get takeout about once a week. Not only are they the kindest people, the food is terrific. I've eaten at a lot of different Vietnamese places in this area and they just don't compare. We especially love the pork egg roll noodle, short ribs and the spring rolls. And before COVID, if they knew you, you'd get a hug! There were days where I didn't think I wanted a hug and it always turned out that I needed it. Yes, they are religious but they DO NOT push it down your throat. We are not religious at all but we just smile and soak it in because it comes from a place of pure kindness. Yo... I drove deep to try this place. I neeever go to Des Moines but I found myself here tonight (and I dragged a friend). It's like 20 minutes away from home, which isn't bad, but I literally had no idea where I was!! Also, let me start by saying it's a solid 3.5, but I can't bring myself to round it down to a 3 because of how sweet the service was. It's in the middle of a little outdoor strip mall kind of place, so it has a nice location! Decor: Everything was very clean and really cute! They had a bunch of little quotes up on the wall everywhere which was I thought was pretty cute... And they have a nice blown-up mini menu up by the register so you can actually see some of the things on their menu when you first walk in. I found that Rose Pho is actually a lot cleaner than most pho places too, which always sits well with me. Food: The broth is definitely more sweet than what I normally like. I'm more of a salty/beefy broth kind of girl, so the broth wasn't my favorite at all. I was a disappointed in the cuts of meat as well - I got the brisket w/ well-done flank and they were super fatty cuts of meat. :/ They give you HUGE pieces too, but luckily it was tender enough that it kind of just fell apart. Service: I want to say that the service was picture perfect... I really do. And it almost was!!! But there was just one thing..... I ordered for myself, my pho and thai tea, and a to-go order for my boyfriend back at home. The owner (little asian lady) confirmed with me which card was mine, and which one was my friend's. My friend only ordered a bowl of pho for herself, so our receipts were very different in price. Even after confirming the debit cards, my friend got charged for my bill, and me for her's. So I paid $8, and she paid $23. :/ Outside of that mishap, the owner was SO SWEET. She thanked us for coming in several times, called us sweetie every other word, and gave us like 3 hugs each?!? She's soo soo sweet, it was literally impossible to get upset about her mixup. I'm not sure I'd drive out regularly, to be honest, but if I was in the area I would definitely come in again! I've decided to do an update since I last reviewed this place in 2011! My last review was for the original owners, which changed many years ago to this current owner. I have to say the food from the original owners were much better. Rose Pho now I think is just OK, I think they are tailored to be more Americanized than authentic good Vietnamese restaurant. Their pho is just ok, I prefer Rose pho in Burien, and now there is a new Lam Bistro & Pho opened up in Normany Park that I think is the best Vietnamese food in the area!! What I really don't like about Rose Pho is that they have really high prices, and they charge you for every little thing. Their dishes are pricey to start with and don't come with rice, you have to pay additional for a tiny amount of rice that doesn't satisfy me and I don't have a big appetite. I feel like I have to pay so much for lunch when I can go else where and get the same amount of food for much less. We went there just the other day because the restaurant that we wanted to go to was closed, and we want to grab a bite quickly and didn't want to drive far. They lady who waited on us was so unresponsive and rude. She looked pissed from the minute we walked in, I told her we have 6 people including one child, she just stood next to a 4 person table and pointed at the table with no expression and no words, I told her again we have 6 people, cam she combine two tables together? She again just wanted us to sit at that 4 person table! WTF? I had to ask a third time for her to put two tables together so our party can all fit! Then the service was horrible, the whole time she looks like we owe her a million dollars. The food was so salty and not good, both my husband and I agreed that this will be the last time we dine at this restaurant. Here is an update, As we came back today to eat pho after church (because it was rainy and cold), I was excited that Ms. Trinh was back! Right off the back she remembered me and said my name (it was like music to my ears). Knowing most places, they either don't remember the people they speak to or don't even recognize them. Let alone, you don't remember managers most of the time... She was an exception. Anyways, she had explained to me that she is a very busy person and that she works a second job.. which might explain why she was absent for awhile. She really is a people person. She was like family. Now about the food, the food is as consistent as ever... in fact this time around, it was better than the first or second. Ordered the vegetarian pho and was delighted. It didn't even need any hoisin sauce or Siracha. Their fried garlic tofu was also fantastic!! Very savory and crunchy, nothing like I've ever tasted before. My taste buds kicked and scream for awesomeness. Customer service was also phenomenal, it might look rainy outside, but it was definitely sunny inside (I know cheesy). Very happy faces and fantastic atmosphere. Oh, water was almost always filled as well! Never had a service where water was plentiful, you would tho right? I don't know what I like more, the customer service or the food, but either way you will receive both. If you plan to come here, be ready to have a good day. I've eaten here plenty of times pre-COVID and during COVID. Of course they're only doing take-out right now but my meal tonight reminded me just how great the quality of the food here is and inspired this review. Customer service is welcoming and the food is always amazing and leaves me perfectly satisfied after every meal. The taste is flavorful, no need for condiments, but I do recommend taking a sip of the broth before you add your needed sauces. Black pepper Fried Tofu - Best appetizer I've had. We got egg rolls, Chili-lemongrass chicken with white rice, and combo noodle. Ticket was less than $30 and we had plenty to take home. Extremely clean. Nice atmosphere. Family owned and operated. Great family owned business! It's located in the new Normandy Park plaza on the left side. Extensive menu with lots of variety and delicious pictures. Fried Chicken & Egg Roll Appetizer -- Both are delicious and crispy! Asian fried chicken always feels lighter yet still crispy. Fresh and not too greasy. The egg rolls had a nice proportion of filling to wrapper and flavorful. I'm always a sucker for anything fried. Pho Tai -- Great big portion. My boyfriend was actually surprised at how good the broth tasted. Definitely hits the spot on any cold, rainy day. Lemongrass Pork Vermicelli -- Always my favorite thing to order at any Vietnamese restaurant. Pork was very flavorful and sauce was on-point. The only downside to this dish was that they lacked the amount of vegetables and peanuts that I am used to =( FREEE Creampuffs for dessert!! I don't get it, so many reviews and 4.5 stars......... No way, I am a Vietnamese food fanatic, this is watered down version of Vietnamese offerings. I order steak Pho and the Vietnamese Crepe. Broth was bland and odd color, no oil/meat fat seen, I had to add salt, yes salt to the pho to give it any flavor whatsoever. Crepe was all grease and I had to blot off the grease to dig into it.... I taste nothing.... add salt. Upon paying they talked me into ordering a Vietnamese coffee......... trying to give it another chance....... wrong, disgusting! That was not Vietnamese iced coffee.. Though this one is the closest to our home I would rather drive much farther to get better flavor. Also they tend to run longer than they quote to cook to go/call in meals.
